BBC Admits Editorial Breach Over McWhirter (Eventually)

From the Telegraph: “BBC apology over suggestion that Norris McWhirter was a fascist” “David Baddiel and Alan Davies discussion about Norris McWhirter on Radio Five Live was in breach of the BBC’s editorial guidelines.”

Cranmer points out that when he and others complained to the BBC about the comments they were informed: “The Alan Davies Show is a live, light hearted, entertainment programme and in this context we are satisfied that no broadcasting guidelines were broken.” One can just imagine the conversation at the BBC: “Bunch of f***ing right-wingers – fob ’em off with any old crap.”

It was only following the intervention of MPs that the BBC looked into the matter further and admitted its guidelines had indeed been breached. Cranmer asks: “Will the BBC now be apologising to those of us whose complaints they summarily dismissed out of hand?” Don’t hold your breath, Your Grace.

LAUGH, I NEARLY PAID MY LICENSE FEE.

I was watching the BBC2 Comedy programme “Mock the Week” and was struck yet again by the venom spat out dressed up as “humourous topical comment”in the direction of John McCain and Sarah Palin. “Lightning-fast” Russell Howard and “one of Britain’s most insightful and cutting comedians” Andy Parsons in particular were letting their bias show, with comments about Palin being “stupid” because she did not “believe” in AGW and McCain dying. Naturally there were no jokes about Obama. The thing about these hard left comedians is they lack the guts to laugh at their own political icons. Instead they remain fixed in 6th form student grant aspic – and we fund them via the license tax.

MOCK THE DEAD?

Don’t know if you ever watch the BBC2 alleged satirical comedy “Mock The Week”? I caught it the other evening and was revolted by the “satirists”Frankie Boyle and other panel members all having a great laugh at the prospect of Lady Thatcher dying. The question they were asked was if they thought she deserved a State Funeral, the answer was “Who cares so long as the bitch is dead!” Cue uproarious laughter. I also saw another panellist in the shape of c-lister June Sarpong getting a laugh by claiming that she had met Lady Thatcher at a party recently but Thatcher had forgotten her husband Denis was dead. More howls of laughter at the frail Thatcher’s expense. Charming stuff from these satirists and well worth your license tax, eh?
