The Licence enforcement arm of the Far Left BBC is continuing to target the over 75s to buy a licence . 750000 have so far failed to buy one since the ‘free ‘ licence concession was removed . So before the BBC accuses others of sharp practices perhaps it should look to itself .

We all know that death numbers ‘from COVID’ are much lower on a Sunday and Monday and then a spike from Tuesday onwards because of the weekend.
Look on any graph and you can see the pattern.
When the numbers were going up they used to compare with the same day a week ago, like for like.
Now, they are going on about a huge spike (sky news just now) up from yesterday’s 333 to today’s 1052 deaths.
Why not compare to last Tuesdays numbers.
Is it because the deaths are dropping when you compare like for like.
It certainly makes more sense to compare numbers with those on the same day a week ago.
It would make more sense to use the data of actual deaths each day rather than the number of deaths registered each day (which are lower on weekends). The NHS own covid death stats manage to do this but not the ONS data used by SAGE and the government.
EG and Tabs, it is very hard to have confidence in the statistics. For example, one area that I monitor has very stable and low deaths with Covid-19 but then suddenly there is a huge leap upward. Then for days or weeks nothing changes, then again suddenly a large increase. It’s not a weekend thing for that area – it appears sporadic and random.
It would be a great shame if the Biased Bleeding-heart Commission got rid of that pundit bloke, you know that Barry Spinnaker bloke, the one that knows it all. This is because he truly is the gift that keeps on giving. His latest licence fee pronouncement bears all the hallmarks of the mentally bereft.
So thanks mate, keep it up, you are doing our work for us.

Bored with working from home, I sneaked a peek at Culture in Quarantine on BBC2 this afternoon. A performance of Romeo and Juliet.
I should have known better. They were butchering my beloved Shakerags. Usual motley crew of whites, blacks and browns being cast in roles for no discernible reason.
The rich variety of regional and class accents we have in Britain was also not utilised in any meaningful way that might help an audience understand the social distinctions of the Verona society in which the play is set. Instead, it was a higgledy-piggledy cacophony of senseless voices.
No thought is ever given by the arty-farty wokerati these days to the intelligent use of race, gender and accents in their presentation of Shakespeare. Their philosophy seems to be that anybody can play any role in any way they like because nobody is any better or worse than anybody else. It is a sort of globalist idea of drama. Eliminate all differences and turn the whole world into the undifferentiated consumers they want us to be.
I was happy to get back to work.

There is a ‘thing’ on channel 4 about Catherine the great . I never realised there were so many African Russians – nor indeed various non white shades of Russian in the czar’s

The bbc bought an HBO? Job about the court of Louis 16? Which was quite grown up in comparison to the recent -frankly strange – PC stuff we are suffering with ‘blind ‘ casting .
I saw some Shakespeare at the Barbican before the COVID war with girls in chaps roles and coloured people playing white roles . It sucked the life out of it . But I bet the luvvies involved felt they’d done their thing for ‘the cause ‘….lots of empty seats though …
I think that is precisely it. The luvvies are using drama to promote their modish causes rather than trying to be faithful to the play and the aims of the author. That is why these plays are so boring and lead to empty seats. The big lie at the moment is that blacks have always been a big part of British society and have always occupied high social positions. In the theatre I have seen black actors in plays by Shakespeare, Sheridan and Wilde that were preposterous from a historical point of view. And we all know many similar examples from film and TV such as the one you mention. I wonder where all this is going? Will the younger generation grow up with an utterly false idea of history? Or will this woke agenda collapse through its internal contradictions? Perhaps precocious children might start asking why, when there were all these blacks in powerful positions throughout our history, did they not prevent the rise of the slave trade?
But, but… Shakespeare wrote a play with a ‘black’ lead back in 1603… am not sure he meant Othello to be ‘black’ in the modern sense though?
Queen Elizabeth I was given a young (black) slave boy by John Hawkins as a thank you for her financing his slave smuggling, very profitable little business for Queenie – slaving, paid for her war with Spain, but shh, don’t tell BLM. Am sure I read this black page boy was quite a novelty at the time. He chose to take the name Gannibal (Russian for ‘Hannibal’), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abram_Petrovich_Gannibal and was mostly famous because he was a black person in the court of Peter the Great, and after Peter’s death, in the court of Peter’s wife Catherine (also) the Great. If there’d been any others, I don’t suppose this guy would have been famous, would he?
Other than being famous for being the one black person in pre-1950 Russia, Gannibal is also remembered for being Pushkin’s great-grandfather. Connecting back to Othello, Pushkin wrote a novel about him called ‘the Moor of Peter the Great’.

There’s a proper drama series about Catherine the Great (Ekaterina: The Rise of Catherine the Great) on Amazon Prime. As it was made in Russia and for a Russian audience it tends to stick largely to the history rather than obsess about race, gender and sexual deviancy. For those who miss quality period drama of the sort we got in the UK 30 years ago, or want to learn something of the history and personalities of that era, it’s pretty good (there are English subtitles).

Usual socialism pushing articles we expect from the BBC. This one stood out more than the others for 2 reasons:
1. Kay, single mother of 4 on benefits, with the youngest 7 months old, says “she has had to go without food and clothes herself to provide for her children”. But the photo of her shows she is overweight. No mention why she decied to have the 4th kid whislt in a relationship about to end.
2. A Getty Image photo of a woman sitting on the bed in nightwear. The BBC are trying to suggest this woman is so poor she has turned to prostitution but she hasn’t.
The BBC News website is really pushing the stories featuring woman only today (more than usual). It is like reading Take a Break or Womans Own magazines.
Examples on the website homepage right now featuring just woman/girls:
