I note in passing that my local authority thinks that it is tackling ‘the ecological and climate emergency’. (Where I was brought up they used to call it the Salvage Department – i.e. bin men).

Can’t but feel that if we had a real virus, ecological and climate emergency the first thing to go would be ‘equality, inclusivity and diversity’ yet I suspect that will still be the cry on the last apparatchic’s lips as it is eaten by a polar bear.

“I say Smithers, take a kite, and drop a cookie on Berlin!”

“No can do skip, my navigator has gone non-binary so now we are out of quota.”

“Bad show! When are we getting those black chaps from New Zealand?”

      I just checked
I then change the search period to “past month”
      we then came #2
I then clicked through and started using the page
      Why ?
cos if you click thru it pushes us up slightly in the Google ranking.

BTW it’s not always a conspiracy. Search rankings change all the time, due to other factors.

Well, it’s always been top 3 for the ‘biased bbc’ keywords ever since I started here and it has suddenly dropped to halfway down the third page almost overnight.
I can’t believe ALL those other sites suddenly got more popular ??. Many don’t even have an exact match.

‘Britain’s most senior police officer, Dame ‘de Menezes’ Cressida Dick says its incredible that we don’t all know the rules’, (I don’t because I don’t watch the BBC), followed immediately by ‘Cheryl, a shopworker says’.

From the incompetent to the irrelevant.

But they both push the BBC’s agenda.

Aaaaah, but are they ‘Vegan-gender-free astrologers’, rather than ‘Trans-fruitarian-astronomers’?

There is a difference you know – the BBC have a list of all these variations in a special department, staffed by about thirty kids on zero hours contracts, but paid via a secret service company, to work from home for eight hours a month!

The list is biked round to every member of the autocue-reader’s London homes, with security even better than Mare Khant-Ever, and signed for digitally on the spare iPads the BBC give anyone who walks in the door.

Jonathan Jones, one of the many experts we are privileged to share knowledge with via the Guardian, compares the ravening mob of Capitol storming Trump supporters with those depicted by Goya in much of his work during the ‘Black Period’.
What he misses from this in-depth assessment is that Goya was suffering at the time from a probable combination of viral encephalitis, Menier’s disease, lead poisoning and quite possibly tertiary syphilis, all or some of which might have had a negative influence on his political outlook – though no doubt Mr Jones would see President Trump in much the same light.

2:15pm R4 Drama “Having fled terrorism in native Somalia Asha gives her few remaining dollars to a trafficker hoping for a new life in Ireland only to discover that her troubles have just begun.”

Having suffered rape and violence in her native Somalia at the hands of the terrorist cult Al-Shabaab, Asha hands over her few remaining dollars to a trafficker in the hope of finding a life for herself and her daughter in Ireland.
. Threatened with deportation by the Irish government, Asha flees northwards to the UK, in a desperate attempt to avoid being returned to almost certain death.
Again and again she is returned to Dublin, again she flees north to Belfast to begin her application all over again.

Seems to echo the life of the law breaking Irish politician.

The dog that didn’t bark in the night… The BBC is always keen to report the remarks of Professor Susan Michie, and indeed any other member of SAGE calling for yet more tougher lockdown restrictions (if that is not a tautology). However, in a rare moment of uncharacteristic openness, the BBC has seen fit to mention her political affiliations following her interview on BBC Radio Oxford: “Lockdown rules need to be tougher, according to Prof Susan Michie, a former Labour Party donor and an independent adviser to the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage). “
Well, almost. It fails to mention that she is a leading member of the Communist Party of Britain, who committed her comrades to the forlorn hope of getting Jeremy Corbyn elected to Prime Minister. One of her children, Laura Murray, is a former aide to Corbyn and was made head of complaints at the Labour Party in April 2019.

    BBC Local Rad…. stirring…

Is this enough to feed 3 children for an entire week?

It’s what one single mother from Worcester was given to feed her children for lunch – who would normally be given free school meals – while schools are closed during lockdown.

The Children’s Minister, Vicky Ford, has said she’s urgently looking into claims that some food parcels are inadequate.

    ***

There was an image, that did not have Marianna in, so it might not have been accurate. This can happen.

It did not sit well in complement to the claim, so I expected anything but…. #CCBGB

“Typical BBC anti Tory drivel. You know full well complaints about some of the supplying companies have been made and investigations are underway!”

“We all know full well that this situation is being looked into. The Govt give Companies money and guidelines on what to issue and some companies have obviously been abusing the Govt money. There are many, many families who have been provided more than enough for their kids lunches. I, for one, applaud the Govt for what they have had to do and spend over this last year. We must not forget that the more we shout that the Govt must pay for this and that, the harder we are going to be hit in a year or two when this all has to be paid back.“

So the BBC got an activist #prasnews punt, liked what they saw and, as the say, “the rest is journalism”.

The BBC ‘Reality Check Team’ have published another article – this time titled ‘Brexit: Five surprising consequences’.
As you will expect, all of them bad.
First they actually push the sandwich fiasco as number one.
Then we have ‘Deliveries to Northern Ireland suspended’. Digging deeper, it appears SOME retailers have suspended deliveries (and they only name one) but everything else is going as expected.
Tut tut ‘Reality Check Team’. Your own articles don’t stand up to fact checking.
And – shock, horror – a tariff of 17,500 was charged on some bananas from Ghana. However they fail to tell us if this was one box full or a supertanker full so it’s completely meaningless. Another ‘Reality’ fail by the ‘Reality Check Team’.
The rest seem to just be the EU being as awkward as they can – such as insisting to check entire trailers instead of just samples for Scottish fish.
All in all, not a ‘Reality Check’ at all. Just an arbitray list of 5 extremely minor issues dressed up to be something much bigger using an official sounding name to give a some fake respectability. I suspect the team are just 2 recent female graduates and one male of colour who follow what their BBC-to-the-core manager tells them to do as if he were God.
How absolutely pathetic. It’s like children doing a school project.

Project Veritas exposes the real opinions of one of the heads of America’s PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) in a secretly filmed conversation.

    Some of his gems below.

So we have a national, publicly-funded broadcaster that is metropolitan elitist, thinks Trump is close to Hitler and favours the use of violence should he win, hates conservatives, dreams of brainwashing the entire population of children, despises the mass of ordinary viewers, and rejoices over the deaths of right-wing voters to Covid.

That could never happen here in Britain, right?

    Michael Beller, PBS principal counsel:

    – “We go for all the Republican voters and Homeland Security will take their children away…we’ll put them into the re-education camps.”
    – “Enlightenment camps. They’re nice, they have Sesame Street characters in the classrooms, and they watch PBS all day.”
    – “Americans are so f*cking dumb. You know, most people are dumb. It’s good to live in a place [Washington, D.C.] where people are educated and know stuff. Could you imagine if you lived in one of these other towns or cities where everybody’s just stupid?”
    – “What’s great is that COVID is spiking in all the red states right now. So that’s great…a lot of them [red state voters] are sick and dying.”

I think the fake-news for the day must go to the Daily Telegraph who have always had a severe case of TDS. Today they write:
‘after the US president urged supporters to “fight like hell” against the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in Congress.’
This is a massively misrepresented quote and completely out of context. His quote was this:
‘but I said something is wrong here, something is really wrong, can’t have happened and we fight, we fight like hell, and if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore’
Where clearly he means to fight against the result, not mob the Capitol. In the same speech he also says:
‘I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard. ‘
    Shame on you Daily Telegraph.

Von pop on BBC1 6pm news re ‘Are instructions about lockdown clear enough?’ The chances of the reply being about the PM taking a bike ride, I would have thought were really low. A 7 mile bike ride is for many quite a short distance. But like news on Trump repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth.
As for the number of deaths today; numbers seem all over the place. We have just had two days where numbers had dropped from over 1,000 to about half without any comment from the press and then magically they have doubled again to be back to over 1,000. Is Public Health England not managing the work and cannot cope with 1,000 deaths a day (maybe leaving a heap of certificates somewhere to be dealt with tomorrow) or are they managing the narrative?

I understand the ONS is the only place to get information regarding the true figures. The other sources are so badly presented or manipulated so best to be ignored.

I think the screaming headline everyday that ‘XXX’ have died with covid is also wrong. Its a tally of those who have died since testing positive with the china virus 28 days ago.

Other here have posted valid points about how PHE count the totals and these lag for many reasons, including lack of staff at weekends to file deaths, paperwork and admin processing etc.

Deaths are still in rising phase.

      Vaccine stats
      – 1st dose : 2,431,648 (inc today’s +145,076 )
      – 2nd dose : 412,167 (+23,526) … That daily number will fall cos of the new policy of delaying 2nd dose, but some doctors are still honouring the original programme
They need to rise to about 285K/day to meet 2mn/week target

Whatever happens in the next few months the actions of the above have shown that the USA is not to be trusted as an ‘honest broker’ and people and countries will now look elsewhere for internet services.

Remember in 2017 when Republican law makers actually narrowly escape being mass murdered while playing baseball?

A guy opened fire on them, striking one and nearly killing him.
Nothing like that happened in the MAGA goofball intrusion

It remains a fact that the only person killed in the Capitol Building itself was the unarmed woman shot dead at point-blank range by police,
.. but members of Congress keep claiming they narrowly escaped being mass murdered

BBC banging on about school dinners again.

They say their hero, Saint Marcus of Rashford says it’s simply not good enough.

Then showed what someone had got (for free) . Bread, cheese, ham, fruit , veg, spuds and a few more offerings .

What the f++k is wrong with that BBC ?????????

I would happily take that for free and have 5 days of lunches , easily from it. That’s exactly what they are for. 5 lunches for YOUR kids !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s not free food for whole families for a week . How do they eat when their kids are at school ???

Me and Mrs Doobster78 happily have ham butties all week for lunch !!!!! It’s a basic lunch the government are providing , not f++king Michelin starred lobster and caviar !!!!!

This country and the sense of entitlement of these rabid lefties is out of control.

    Jesus wept ????

Not so much for the rushing to print what Democrats say without a second thought, but failing to realise the audience is aware of facts BBC munchkins are unaware of in their cosy #prasnews cubicles.

More on the book the War On The BBC .
Chapter nine ; Bolshevism , Brexit and Bias .

Sub title James Delingpole on Bodyguard .

The authors dont like him .
Delingpole objects to minorities being portrayed in various positions of power as though the BBC is using tokenism . The BBC defends the portrayal as normal life .
The BBC portrays minorities as they would like in their world view ,the fact that “minorities ” occupy positions of power is down to their capabilities for the job , not BBC wish think .

    TWATBBC book
    Next subtitle
“if you think the BBC is woke wait `til you see netflix .

In this the authors quote that that other broadcasters , online are more woke than the BBC .
so therefore the BBC is right about social issues , and the authors say that the BBC shows women , people of colour and gay people in a positive light . But only in their judgement .
Which almost gives the choice , Pay For The BBC , Or Pay For Even More Wokeness .

My 2 long posts with photos about Tuesdays very blacked up TV and Radio4 schedules
I happened to accidentally put them on the end of the Weekend Thread but maybe better there
    than clogging up here.

Meanwhile no comment about social distancing at all was made about the Muslim protests yesterday.
      BBC: Hypocritical, ethically barren activists.
Their deliberate use of fake pictures from Getty to bend opinion or perception of a story is quite unethical.
