That word visceral is unusual , even ridiculous . It tells us about the book and the two authors .
Visceral is defined by dictionaries as having an opinion based more on emotion than rational thought . Visceral means in the blood .
I think it means more than that . It also means having an attitude towards something that is out of place , that is not warranted and totally wrong .
For example , when I tell you the Department of Transport has a visceral contempt for British road hauliers and drivers , you obviously know that it has no business to have that attitude , but if I say the Anti Nazi League has a visceral dislike of Nazis the word is superfluous , ridiculous because of course they would have that feeling .
So here we have a website set up to record , monitor and analyse the bias of the BBC and the authors of TWATBBC put the word visceral in , implying that the website should not exist because there`s no reason for it . The posts you make are just prejudiced attacks on the integrity of the BBC .
Apart from trying to link this site with Alt Right movements ( which as usual are not right wing ) the authors do not disect this site , the methods you use here to bring to the fore the bias of the BBC or any failings of you posters . You`re wrong to them for the temerity of not accepting the BBC as the great British institution they decree it is .
If you can eventually go into a bookshop , a little peak at page 118 of TWATBBC is where you`re mentioned .

The weak spot and the srength of the BBC is its method of funding. To maintain a universal License Fee it must retain the support of a large majority of those who are forced to pay for it. But that support has beeen steadily dropping for some years now because the BBC has a very different set of values to those it expects to pay for it but insists on evangelising in an attempt to convert the country to its way of thinking on just about every topic under the sun. People are growing increasingly resentful of being forced to pay for its preaching and at the same time there are more and more ways to find information and entertainment.
If ever there was a time for a Tory Government to cut the BBC down to size and make become entirely self funding this is it. There will plenty of grass roots support for such a move.
I just searched for it online and read the preface/summary they advertise with it.
I doubt I could read the actual book without everyone nearby thinking I have tourettes syndrome.

I see – also – that the lethargy / incompetence in getting vaccination up and running is already becoming an MSM theme – and I hope it gets stronger .

Having worked in the NHS for a few years, its the truth ! When Matrons were given the boot, Managers brought in, and degree nursing was established, that’s when the decline began. Who can now distinguish between a nurse and cleaner ? Nurses used to have a ‘standard’ of appearance with tidy hair and clean appearance – oh and they were NEVER clinically obese either.
Sounds like the NHS can’t deliver but no one has the courage to take it away from them and give it to someone who can ….

2. DVLA – last week they decided my driving licence needs ‘renewing ‘ – so I have to a main post office to present myself . It won’t work online . I’ve emailed the DVLA and am waiting for an answer – can I go out or not ?
Perhaps minor stuff – but an indicator of how poor the state is even after a year of COVID . ….

OT but in all the coverage about the vaccine roll out I have not heard anyone ask about the following.
If with a fair wind they give a first jab to 12 million people at 2 million a week by February half term, when will they get their second jabs?
Does this mean no-one else will get even a first jab until at least April? Are they going to increase capacity to 4 million a week to cover second jabs for some and first jabs for the rest? I am guessing not, for if they have then surely Boris would have been first to mention such an expansion.
Or does it mean the government are planning not to give second jabs at all?
Maybe its not OT. Maybe at least one person from the BBC’s vast army of ‘investigative journalists’ should be asking about this very very obvious issue.

Meanwhile this morning The Daily Mirror shrieks: ‘Corona Crisis One in 50 infected …& rising’ (mixing letters with numerics in their headline there) The appropriately named Metro shouts out a stat for the capital: ‘One in 30 has virus in London’ – you can’t really blame the journos. They know nothing and question nothing and these are the scary numbers our officials pass them.
Think of these government virus statistics as working in the opposite direction as their official inflation figures. You know from personal observation that the cost of your purchases rises by 5% here and 10% there. And yet it suits the government to downplay the inflation numbers and so they employ their ever-changing arcane price index trickery to convince you that inflation is below 2%. Take a peak into your notional weekly shopping basket and you’ll discover the government reckons you have all kinds of odd things in there, such as a pint of malt whisky or an i-pad – in fact anything stable or falling in price at any given time will do to massage the figures downward.
The Guardian today echoes the messaging and the reason for it: ‘Tough curbs “for months” as 1 in 50 now have virus’ – and as usual I have to take the Guardian to task for those pesky ‘scare quotes’. But to the point, come off it Guardian, let’s have less of your hedging, it WILL be months, there’s no doubt about it now.
‘Restrictions may still be needed next winter as millions now have virus’ – the Telegraph there quoting the dead-eyed ghoul in the attic Chris Whitty. And if one stops to think about the logic here – extreme novel precautions and restrictions of liberty in order to deal with an average recurring annual corona virus surge, then there’s really no reason to ever relax said restrictions.
Whenever faced with overbearing self-righteous health and safety messaging, particularly from the preachy BBC, my mind goes back to Top of the Pops 1979. (bear with me)

This claim that “one in 50 people have Covid”
yesterday I calculated that th street level is 5 to 25 people in 10,000
Mainly due to the way that most cases are in the NHS
The starting point was that in my area the Positive count is 0.2% vs a national average of 0.5%
We know 2 things
– There is an undercount co many asymptomatic people don’t get tested
– There is an overcount effect from false positives
What they have done is said for every positive test non tested people are positive
I find that difficult to believe , when testing is so ubiquitous.
So they taken the measure 0.5% and called it as 2%
(ie one in fifty)
Now if 2% of population get Covid every 10 days
that makes it 20% in 100 days
That could not sustain for long cos infection would keep meeting dead ends a they hit already immune people.

No currently Fr/Germany/UK have about 1 death in 30 cases
but that is a coincidence cos both the other countries have had flat case counts even though deaths were rising in Germany and falling in France.
That 8k cases day in Germany seem to be an anomaly
They seem to not work a lot of days so you need to look at the smoothed data
Their cases has been flat at about 20K/day since start of November
yet their deaths have not followed a similar pattern
They rose constantly in a line to 700/day averages
So currently 1 death in 33 cases
France has had a peak in cases
Then by start of Dec cases were flat at 10K/day
Yet deaths fell gradually from 500 to 315/day
So currently 1 death in 32 cases
Italy a different pattern
an n curve falling from a 35K peak (Nov 19) down to 13K, but then waving back up to 16K/day
Death n curve peaking (Dec 4) and gradual decline to Dec 26,
but then stops following cases and starts to rise t0 480
So currently 1 death in 42 cases
The UK cases is massively steep rise to 60K/day from a Dec 4th trough of 14K
with deaths echoing that with a 20 day delay
510 to 676 echoing (14k to 20K cases)
So 1 death in 27 cases to 1 in 29 cases
Something going on in Sweden their actual lockdown looks to have had a strong effect ( or coincidence)
From Dec 17 peak deaths have fallen
(you can’t say how much cos Sweden death data is very delayed
echoing cases of 6000/day to 4700/day
When Jan 13th data is confirmed that’ll be about the peak death day I guess. It might even be a flat line of 80/day for 3 weeks
