But they want our fish and the Remainers/Rejoiners are still harping on about how little our trade depends on fish. Well it is probably small at the moment but that’s why we want it back in the UK. Think of all the periphery and ancillary jobs linked to that trade. Shipbuilding, dockside plant, fish processing, let alone the jobs on the trawlers and transport .
Britain can make a lot of money exporting fish back to Europe and other parts of the world.
The whole point of Brexit was to open up to world markets.
ie CHANGE not stay the same.

On Guido the other day an MP tried to show maths that proved Harrods is bigger.
His final argument claimed Harrods is a bigger “added value”.
Harrods added value comes from its profit margin
and the British element in manufacture price
but I reckon most of those wholesales costs will come from overseas.
ie £1m turnover for Harrods is probably 0.6m added value to UK
Whereas when a British fishing boat has £1m turnover almost all it’s costs are UK costs eg fuel from UK oil, UK ship maintenance etc. So it adds close to £1m to UK economy.
taffman, was talking with a French friend about fishing.
He told me that one of the things the French fishing community is concerned about is that the Dutch mega-trawlers who are currently hoovering up all the fish they can in UK waters will move to French waters and do their hoovering there – hence the French intransigence.
I have not been able to independently verify this but it makes sense to me.

On a similar matter , Yesterday I purchased a punnet of raspberries from the local market and they had come from the Netherlands but the label stated “Origin Morocco”!
Surely it is not beyond the capabilities of our fruit merchants to source these fruit direct from the growers ?
Contact your local BAME, according to the bbc they are prevalent throughout the countryside and can surely find a source for you with their indigenous knowledge
the strange thing is, they always seem to be hiding over the last twenty years I have been walking through the countryside, but always pop up on the bbc, thank goodness, with their ever complaining gobs about racism of squirrels, stoats and foxes

I thought ‘women’ had been edited out of existence…..no more ‘gender’ as it might offend those who trans…..which is odd in a world where the BBC is all about identity politics and stirring up division and conflict. I imagine the same logic can be applied to religion…Just as trans activists insist there is no such thing as gender and all people are genderless and can be whatever they want to be[whilst paradoxically getting annoyed when people insist they are not actually ‘women’] Muslims insist all people are Muslim, some just need to revert back to Islam, Christianity and all other religions can’t be allowed to exist just as ‘women’ can’t be allowed to exist…thus Christianity et al must be edited from the world.

Heard on the BBC last week…a professor being interviewed on 5 Live about likely lockdown in London…asked is it necessary? She replied well yes because the previous lockdown hadn’t worked…so we need a lockdown….coz that’ll work huh!? The BBC presenter didn’t notice, lol, the complete contradiction.

Watch this video and listen to the man telling us that decisions to lockdown were taken too early and the data ‘retrofitted’ to back up those decisions…we know out-of-date data was also used to justify the second lockdown when the latest available data showed cases were dropping and the ‘mutant’ variant of covid 19 is being hyped to scare us and justify cancelling Christmas…more to save Boris’s face than to save anyone’s life in the face of remorseless media pressure to u-turn…as he did with the first lockdown which he imposed because of that pressure….so much of it from the BBC.
I think it is plausible that something strange has popped up
– One scenario is that a superstrain has popped up
– or maybe the same chains that got the first wave are getting infected.
Where were we ?
Liverpool had in bad, but was coming out of it.
Manchester still had it, Hull was getting a second wave.
But 2 weeks passed and they were both well down .
Then we look and something was happening in Italy, Germany and Sweden
.. was it just the winter effect ?
Then we look and we’d expect with the northern towns falling the UK numbers should fall
but they didn’t
.. next thing Boris Gang are running around like headless chickens.

It seems that the ‘new’ strain of Covid has been doing the rounds for at least three months. Boris and co. would certainly have known about it – and its supposedly greater potential for transmission – when the plans for easing restrictions at Christmas were announced.
So what’s changed? Boris and his coterie of fellow incompetents will no doubt say that the new strain has been responsible for a huge spike in the number of cases in the South East of England in recent days.
But is this right? Or might it be that (a) people are massing in considerably greater numbers – in shops, public transport, cafes, restaurants and homes – due to the approach of Christmas, thereby facilitating transmission and (b) we’ve now reached the time of year when respiratory viruses tend to thrive. In other words, are the ‘experts’ yet again misinterpreting the data?
And might there also be political elements to Boris’s volte-face? Might he and said coterie be concerned about the number of people who are reluctant to be vaccinated (hence the creation of a situation which ‘encourages’ people to consent to being jabbed)? Could there also be concern that allowing Christmas to proceed as originally planned would ‘upset’ adherents of other faiths, whose own annual celebrations were curtailed?
As for the ‘new’ strain, it’s to be expected that a virus will mutate. Indeed, that can often be a good thing, as mutant strains have a tendency to be less hostile to their hosts than the original. It might be even be that Covid-19 eventually becomes little or no more serious than the common cold.

One suggestion is that unlike the first wave
many hospital operations are going on these days
So that provides a bigger pool of possible NHS-Covid infections.
Of course as human nature dictates some are more equal than others
