Weekend Thread 21 November 2020

Lord Dyson has been appointed by the BBC to see if its’ own senior managers were deceitful in inducing Princess Diana to give an exclusive interview in 1995. A DG appointing his own investigator is not a ‘good look’ . But one rule for the BBC – and other rules for suffering taxpayers .

The woke attacking ancestors now ?

“One of the early objectives of the Cultural Revolution in China, which began in 1966 and goes on today, was to wipe out the “four olds”—old things, old ideas, old customs and old habits.

The “four olds” had already suffered setbacks in the years of Communist rule preceding the Cultural Revolution, but the Maoist leadership tried to use the new revolutionary upsurge launched in 1966 to eliminate them completely.

In the turbulent years from 1966 to 1968, what remained of old religious practices, old superstitions, old festivals, old social practices such as traditional weddings and funerals, and old ways of dress were violently attacked and suppressed. Visual evidences of old things were destroyed, and there was an orgy of burning of old books and smashing of old art objects.

Young Red Guards invaded homes and shattered family altars that denoted continued Confucian reverence for generations of forbears. The few temples, mosques and churches still used for religious purposes were closed and put to secular use. Even those that had been left open for sightseeing purposes, such as the great Buddhist, Lama and Taoist temples of Peking, were barred and their statues, altars and other furnishings were removed.

In not a single home seen by the writer was there any family altar, any tablets to ancestors or any representation of the old gods formerly worshipped by the Chinese masses. In as Westernized a city as Hong Kong, still under British rule, such things are still commonplace in Chinese homes. ”

Attorney Sidney Powell is doubling down, trebling down, quadrupling down on her accusations.

She is either: a) delusional; b) a huge liar; or c) about to rock the world.

The BBC are still remarkably insouciant about the story.

I too want there to be a smoking gun and for Trump to win a second term and to drain the swamp at last. But Sydney Powell’s allegations become more enormous every day. Basically she says that pretty much the whole of the US government from top to bottom , not just the very top but even thousands of people counting the votes, has been involved in a conspiracy against the American people.
If these allegations had been made five years ago I would have dismissed them as the ravings of lunatics but after the failed coup and the subsequent cover up I can believe them and think that they need to be investigated . But who can be trusted to run a full, fair and transparent investigation given that the government is so corrupted?
In the past , well forty or fifty years ago, the MSM would have been attacking this with vigour but the MSM is now just part of the conspiracy and will use its power to undermine and suppress the allegations rather than investigate them.

This is no stupid woman hellbent upon destroying any commercial/legal future she has.

The problem DJT’s legal team has, is the implanted communists in positions of power, them being hellbent on a rapid conversion of so-called, ‘Democracy’ to outright communism.

I’m really surprised at how many communists are in positions of power and influence in the US. The system is riddled with them – no doubt all on the Chinese payroll. On that subject, the YT sites I visit to gain my news are all telling me that their subscribers are slowly being wiped out by YT. Anybody getting the same message?

TWO terror fanatics have been released on to our streets — and three more will follow in weeks.

One jihadi already out of jail is Moinul Abedin, Britain’s first al-Qaeda inspired bomber.

It comes despite the UK threat level being raised to “severe” this month and arrests for terror-related offences at a ten-year low.

Abedin, 45, was freed from a 20-year term imposed in 2012 after police found bomb-making gear at his home.

And Shazib Khan, 27, was released after serving half an eight-year term for trying to go to Syria to join IS.

Jihadist plotter Yusuf Sarwar, 28, who did go, is set to apply for release next month.

Fellow IS schemer Mohammed Zahir Khan, 42, is also up before parole officials soon.

Meanwhile, Osama Bin Laden’s right-hand man Abdel Bary, 60, is due to be extradited from the US. He got 25 years for his part in al-Qaeda US embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 that killed 224 and has just been let out.

Sunday may be considered a day of rest but spare a thought for those fragile souls in our civil service as the Telegraph warns: ‘Patel shakes up antiquated work practices at Home Office. The top ranks are to be shaken up… with officials asked to work some weekends and be subject to performance reviews’ – what, like the private sector? – Oh the humanity. Treat it as a down payment on your gilt-edged state sector pensions and job security, chaps.

The Sunday Times Magazine meanwhile reassures me Dolly Parton is: ‘Still working 9 to 5’

Titular head of our established church, top cleric and sometime turbulent priest, Justin Welby, makes the front page of the Observer: ‘Welby warns Tories against overseas aid cut’ – one feels that soft-left, anti-conservative, paper is the natural sanctury for Welby’s sanctimonius signalling of his own virtue.

Typically of our current leaders of institutions he sees his role as an opportunity to narcissistically burnish his own brand, rather than to preserve and maintain the valuable societal institution of which he is custodian.

His Grace also makes the frontpage of the Sabbath edition of the Telegraph: ‘Archbishop of Canterbury to take sabbatical. The Most Rev Justine Welby, pictured at Lambeth Palace, is to take a break next year to focus on study, prayer and reflection’ – nice work if you can get it. Try not to get your crosier stuck in the door as you leave.

A uniform spate of free delivery offers across our national press signalled the looming onset of our second lockdown. The Telegraph today offers a six-week delivery deal. Their top headline appears to concur with that gloomy omen: ‘Lockdown to end next week but stricter tiers on the way’ – have you noticed, by the way, that our media will voice criticism of every jot and tittle of government action or inaction apart from their main plank of policy – Lockdowns?

It’s my understanding that Ofcom slapped a form of D-notice on the broadcasters and the newspapers have mainly towed the line.

The Sunday Express does promote a report of the disquiet among some Tory MPs to its frontapage: ‘Lockdown ultimatum. As PM confirms we face tougher tiered restrictions before Christmas, Tory MPs demand evidence…’ – the problem being opposition to lockdowns gets characterised as only coming from that one small easily ignored group.

Where’s the opposition, we ask? To quote an old political slogan – “Labour isn’t working”. The bishop is soon to be in retreat, cloistered away burnishing his own virtuous conscience. And so it falls to Me Learned Friends… the Lawyers…

‘Johnson “acted illegally” over jobs for top anti-Covid staff’ – as qouted in the Observer: ‘The case has been lodged by the not-for-profit Good Law Project headed by Jolyon Maugham QC…’ [Fox assassin and EU fanatic] ‘…and the UK’s leading race equality think tank, the Runnymede Trust’ – I’ll say no more. Apart from the word Runnymede still evokes in me Magna Carta more than BLM. Each to their own, I guess.

So far so good but this has all been a trifle heavy going and rather hard work. Perhaps we will find our reward is in heaven?

‘Mind the pay gap’ – says the Times: ‘Men unhappy when wives earn more’ – in a frontpage article penned by a woman of course, Emily Dugan, Social Affairs Correspondent. You can bet your bottom dollar this report is based on some social studies university research and is that odd contemporary phenomenum of a journalistic enterprise setting out to reform society into a certain way of thinking: ‘if you thought the days of the unreconstructed male needing to rule the financial roost were long gone, it may be time to think again’ – no thanks, luv. Just bring us the news.

And finally, our go to resource the Daily Star Sunday: ‘Rank Hypocrisy’ – no, not some public health panjandrum caught bonking outside of his household bubble – not this time anyway: ‘BBC spends £350k on taxis, trains and hotels THAT IT NEVER USES while handing huge bill to OAPs’

But calm down. The BBC will tell you that you’ll find many reports of how a pound spent in the arts sector multiplies many times over to the benefit of the real economy. Infact the Chancellor: ‘Prepare for tax pain next year, warns Sunak’ (Times) should probably increase the BBC’s Licence Fee as a route to rebuild the economy. I’m being sarcastic. The BBC already has a multi-year inflation busting deal in place.

It’s now absolutely crystal clear that when lockdown finishes we’re going to be put into a series of localised…um…lockdowns.
They’ll probably be given names like Tiers One, Two and Three, but we all know what they really are…imprisonment.

In olden times, when I was a lad, we might have been able to turn this utterly pointless catastrophe into a vehicle for humour, but not these days. By the time Marcus, Jo, Paul Merton and all the deeply unfunny, woke “comedians” that infest the airwave have got hold of it, they’ll have turned this nonsense into yet another deeply unfunny diatribe against Trump or Brexit.

I’d have liked to see the old Carry On team have a go at these lunatic times. Perhaps we could call the film Carrie on up the Covid…geddit? Obviously the voluptuous Babs Windsor would play Miss Symonds, constantly giggling and jiggling her bits. Well, it always worked for me…

There’s only one man to play Boris and that’s the perennially gormless Bernard Bresslaw, who would stumble out wearing a dodgy blond wig and looking confused and harassed. He’d be flanked by the machiavellian and dangerously incompetent “experts”, Charles Hawtrey and Kenneth Williams. They’d produce a series of incomprehensible graphs that would be displayed upside down or on their side. Quite clearly these idiots couldn’t organise the proverbial in a brewery and shouldn’t be listened to, but somehow, they’re in charge. Oh, we’d laugh…

The latest I’ve heard is that the government are going to allow us a few days off for the festive season. Their generosity is boundless.

I’m ignoring all these imbecilic rules. They achieve nothing but utter misery. I’ll be out on Christmas day, mixing in various (illegal)”bubbles” And even New Year’s Eve, which I usually avoid like the plague (pun intended) I’ve been invited to a gettogether. And I’m going.

I’m not a natural rebel, but I’ve had more than enough. It’s time to kick back and take control of our liberties. These people aren’t going to stop with this unless we stop them. That’s now clear.

So, our resident Number Ten half-wit can shove his tiers, bubbles and restrictions up his corpulent, well upholstered Christmas cracker.

    I ain’t listening…

Darcy-I gave up on Classic FM years ago. I understood
that they didn’t have the time to play complete Bruckner
symphonies. But I told them that segments like the first
movement of the 6th symphony has around FOUR or more
themes that have been made into blockbuster film music scores.
They wrote back telling me that they often play his violin
concerto. For those of you that love classical music you
will know what they thought. For those that don’t the
composer they were getting mixed up was Bruch.
You may ask what has this got to do with the BBC?
Other than the fact that I believe that the woke diverse
classical music brigade at the BBC would like to” cancel ”
all the white classical male composers with the initial B !!
You see they probably have found some evidence that the likes
of Bach , Beethoven etc were involved in the slave trade .

The entire liberal establishment, from The Guardian to Twitter to the BBC, would have ridden out in her defence, shutting down any objections with furious cries of ‘racism’.

Meanwhile, her accusers would have been dismissed as small-minded bigots, intimidated by the idea of not only a woman, but a woman of colour, the daughter of Ugandan-Indian immigrants, daring to tell them how to do their jobs.

At the very least the BBC should be explaining how complex the US voting system is.

I had wondered what the significance was of earlier reports that some electors were given ‘Sharpie’ pens to mark their forms. Unlike a ball pen the ‘Sharpie’ ink can bleed through to the other side. What this report makes clear is that the voting forms are optically scanned to determine the voting intention. A form with ‘bleed through’ will not scan cleanly so gets set aside for a human to determine what the voter’s intention was. We are also told that by altering the ‘gamma’ settings the number of votes failing to be read can be increased. (Creases and even paper fibres get seen as marks on the paper, as well as the voter’s pen marks).

If there is no supervision the assessor can manually tally these ‘spoiled’ votes any way that they want. An operator might be presented with, say, 1,000 un-read votes and then one-by-one mark them Biden, Biden Biden.. That gives a plausible explanation as to how blocks of votes could be for one candidate only, something unlikely even in the ‘safest’ of seats.

Thank heavens we have Marianna Spring, (she’s only 24 you know!). doing extensive research from the BLM and Democratic Twitter feeds!

On the basis that nothing happens without a motivating / moving force behind it, is it just me, thinking that just a year ago, the Wu-flu was slowly working its way toward us. I believe, by design. A year of lock-downs an personal restrictions never seen before. The year of US rioting supported by the US communist party – the Dems. The year of US elections and more unresolved conflict. The year of much confrontation in India and the South China Sea. A year of crippling restrictions on the Worlds ability to finance anything and in particular, all their frivolous aspirations. A year of Brexit. All coming to a head. Rapidly.

Strange. I somehow think all these things are inextricably connected. I’ve got a gut feeling that we will soon find out why.

I object see below: (A Carribean Hamilton with links to slavery)

      He needs his ancestors checked

Alexander Hamilton abhorred slavery and at a few points in his life worked to help limit it. But any moral objections he held were tempered by his social and political ambitions. Throughout his life, like so many leaders of the time, he allowed or used slavery to advance his fortunes—both indirectly and through compromises he chose to make.

Shortly before Hamilton’s father abandoned his family, he moved them in 1765 to St. Croix, where 22,000 of the island’s 24,000 residents were held in captivity to cultivate the “white gold” produced on sugar plantations. Even though Hamilton’s family had few riches, his mother at one time owned five enslaved people, whom she hired out to supplement her income, as well as four boys who served as her house servants. She bequeathed one of the boys, Ajax, to Alexander, but after her death in 1768, a court denied the inheritance because of Hamilton’s illegitimate birth and granted ownership of Ajax to his half-brother instead.

Hamilton spent his teenage years working as a clerk with the St. Croix trading firm Beekman and Cruger, which imported everything needed for a plantation economy—including enslaved people from West Africa.

“Three petitions drawn up by four young students were presented to MPs last week.”
Doh you can’t add up the 3 petitions and make a grand total, cos most people would have signed all 3.

The Times readers comments are red-pilled.
    – ” I was taught about the slave trade at school in the 1960s and 70s. So what’s new?
Then, teaching was restricted to the North Atlantic trade that began about 1600. Only later did I discover the even more shameful Arab trade that had begun around 700AD, long before the Atlantic trade, and the raids on the South Coast of England, Wales, Ireland and even Iceland by the Corsairs from North Africa in the 1700s.
Let us teach children about the slave trades. But not just the North Atlantic, but that the Arab trade is still going well today.

Teach them about the Wilberforce Acts and the role of the Royal Navy’s West Africa Squadron that lost around 2000 souls freeing about 150,000 slaves from illegal trade ships, and that many of the sailors’ lives lost were freed slaves who served with the RN.”

How about all children being taught about the true history of the slave trade and Africa’s integral role in it?
BTW, I mean the real history, not the one sided, BBC preferred, anti British, bigoted view espoused by most of the TV stations.

These usually depict innocent Africans wandering about something that resembles The Garden of Eden and being kidnapped by some horrible white slavers. Utter bunkum.

The Africans enslaved other Africans. They were at it long before we started and still at it long after we had finished with it.

The real history was nothing like Roots.

More information that BBC ‘News’ has refused to cover in its personal, vindictive hatred of Trump. That they want to replace him with sniffy Joe is demonstrative of their complete lack of morals and empathy.

Apologies if this was covered yesterday, but I’ve only just spotted it on BBC website – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55024769 – about how “antibodies ‘last at least six months'”. Wasn’t it only a couple of weeks ago that they were heavily pushing the doomsday research story from the apocalyptic Imperial College about there not being enough antibodies in people who had contracted Covid in order to gain immunity? This ridiculous conclusion seemingly completely ignoring the fact that there have only been 6 out of 53 million known cases of reinfection, a statistic anyone with more than a single brain cell could work out was more than a little significant. Yet the BBC seemed to love this story, presumably because it justified the tyrannical lockdown they’re promoting. Wtf ever happened to common sense?
