The Liberal media continues to hope for President Trump to die – without saying it – otherwise than nods and winks – the absence of real concern or even false affection is striking . Bit of a week on the way ..

Another for Nick and Laura to ‘analyse’, or… not feel they have time for?

It was never great, but the standard of MPs has hit rock bottom.

Sure the money is ok, but for anyone halfway competent the actual total lack of influence at constituency level and grief factor if in a position of responsibility, especially from media, means no one sane will go near.

Which leaves crooks and chancers too thick, or thick skinned to care so long as the expenses get paid and calls from Today producers keep rolling in so long as they deliver magic sound bites for ‘news’ summary “quotes”.

Basic principle is if EU puts X% tariffs on products UK factories send into the EU, the UK would end up collecting X% tariffs on products EU factories send into the UK
What would it do with that cash ?
The logical thing would be to pay the tariff bill the UK factories had just got from the EU.

Just watched parts of Gardener’s World from last week that were watchable, so that’s about 20 mins.

Monty Don took us to look at his tomatoes in his greenhouse that had been a failure. This was ‘climate change’ as we had had a few overcast days this summer – (plus his grapevine had blocked out the light from above that may have had something to do with it)

The tomatoes grown in the garden were fine, however !

So, ‘selective’ climate change or a BBC obligation to get CC in whenever possible ?

    • Bogtrotter says:

Great minds, jazznick – I posted about Monty’s toms yesterday:

      Weekend Thread 3 October 2020

And I quite agree that only about 20 mins of the hour are watchable once you’ve weeded out the dumbing down and agenda pushing – that mostly leaves the quieter interludes with the dogs lying in the sunshine.

There used to be a handy weather forecast for your weekend gardening, so perhaps they should revive that and get Greta in.

Tomatoes don’t need much heat, but they do need a lot of light at their formative days.

Monty should know this and it has nothing to do with climate change either!

I grew 65 plants this year, and they all thrived in various parts of the garden, which is a strategy whereby if blight strikes, some may escape if in another area. This method also makes for a staggered supply throughout the season. He should know that as well.

One minute in to Rishi’s conference speech and ………. frozen picture. The tech world never ceases to amaze me. We can get uninterrupted reports live from Sydney or L.A but on the doorstep, 3 miles down the road, and we get vocal stuttering, frozen screens, loss of sound and then a blank screen.

Aren’t the best in the tech field working in communications and in news channels, supposed to know what they’re doing ???? because Covid has shown that the tech world might as well go back to landline telephones and paper and pen. How much has been spent on Track and Trace ? because that company certainly wasn’t up to the job, and they’ve had 6 months to sort it out.

Another national Lockdown? In these troubled times facts are important for the public. Sadly the ‘facts’ from the likes of Sir Patrick Vallance and Professor Chris Whitty at this week’s press conference were lamentable, to say the least. Their absurd conjecture of an exponential explosion in COVID has already proved to be nonsense, with ‘case’ numbers dropping ever since they made their announcement. doom-mongering daily news from the BBC and other broadcasters.
There are hundreds of thousands of flu and pneumonia victims in hospitals throughout the world at any one time.
You can start testing well people (who, of course, will also likely have shreds of coronavirus DNA in them) and thus inflate your ‘case figures’ with ‘asymptomatic carriers’ (you will of course have to spin that to sound deadly even though any virologist knows the more symptom-less cases you have the less deadly is your pathogen.
Take these simple steps and you can have your own entirely manufactured pandemic up and running in weeks.
A national Lockdown can then be rolled out anytime with out any real public consultation. The Government’s tyrannical and increasingly hysterical and draconian measures are now a deadly serious threat to the lives and economy of this country. Boris rushed through another ‘illegal’ law on Sunday evening without Parliamentary scrutiny criminalising businesses if they do not enforce the preposterous Covid rules! The fools in Parliament have ceded control to someone who appears to have become slightly mad and they are having difficulty regaining their influence.

BBC bias by omission: there is a large movement in the US called WalkAway, or Walk Away Campaign, or sometimes Walk Away From the Democrats.

As the name suggests it gives a platform to the large number of people who have left the Dems in favour of the Reps, or are considering it.

As well as organising real-space events, they have a large online presence on the various social media platforms – nearly half a million just on Fb, over 200,000 on YT, nearly 100,000 on Twitter etc.

On the day Trump was hospitalised, WalkAway happened to have organised a big rally in Washington called Silent No More, which was attended by thousands (including Katie Hopkins) many of whom then went on to stand outside the hospital in support.

I have never heard the beeb so much as mention the movement, and if you search WalkAway in any spelling on the beeb webshite nothing shows up.

Vlad – if it is as you say – it’s good evidence of the BBC unfairly reporting a foreign election – although the BBC seems to have a colonial attitude to America as though it is part of Islington .

I don’t know enough about their election process to know if the election can be postponed – and the mechanisms for challenging the result – as well as the nature of postal voting which seems as open to fraud there as it is in the UK.

While it might be possible to fudge some ‘early’ dates, the date of the Inauguration is fixed in the Constitution.

Up until the last couple of elections, you had to contact your local.Election Board and specifically request an “Absentee Ballot” (postal vote) and provide at least a thread of a reason why you would not be voting in person. You also had to be on the Electoral Rolls when you made your request.

Now, ballots are being mailed out willy-nilly with no regard as to whether the individual is even eligible to vote (my friend’s dog got one in 2016) like being a citizen, or legally old enough to vote at a minimum.

There are as many ways of challenging the results as there are American versions of Gina Miller.

TWatO Watch #1 – Hints of a disagreement in the Conservative Party today over Covid testing …

….. suggested by the Montacutie in advance turned out to be nothing of the sort. She got to interview former SoS for Health & defeated PM candidate, Jeremy Hunt, about the NHS/DeptHealth/PH(England)/ONS Covid statistics bungle. Hunt was not obliging the BBC in blaming the PM, the Spoonerism too far Matt Hancock or the Cabinet generally. In fact, if you listen in Pravda-mode, between the lines as it were, Jeremy Hunt sort of waved a finger in the direction of ‘Health bosses’. But he also pointed out the other realities of going for a centralised system, from scratch, in a 0-60mph time of about 3.8 seconds as they did back in the Spring.

No doubt the BBC will carefully select a phrase from the interview that they can use to make the PM look bad, anyway. Nothing on the web-site so far.

    12594 cases.
19 covid related deaths (with covid but not necessarily of covid)

    1 person in 3.5 million

At that rate it will take until past the year 302,020 to kill everyone in the UK. Yes, this is just as daft a prediction as some governing us.

Hundreds are dying each day because of the effects of the governments handling of this weak failing virus.
Flu, heart, pneumonia, dementia, cancer, stroke and the other killers all on the back burner and the nightingale hospitals remain empty.

Like Asian flu and Hong Kong flu (where no national actions were taken) in the 50’s and 60’s this one will also die out.
But what a dogs breakfast they’re making of this illness where the majority who have it don’t even know they have it.

Covid (1% of deaths) is way down the list but, as with those (3%) on an earlier thread, is ‘punching well above its weight’

When the gay marriage legislation was being voted on in Parliament the BBC allowed ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ to turn the episode before the vote into a pro-gay marriage propaganda piece.

Seems it was all an act.

Today we learn that the gay actors were paid less and have been written out of the Christmas specials, one written out altogether.

And further on the subject…the BBC made sure the gay Eddie Mair was front and central in the reporting of the issue and the vote.

He has a special interest in the subject so……and it’s the same for bame reporters…..Mishal Husain gets the Muslim reports and you may have noticed that so many other reports on ethnic subjects also get the bame reporters….of course with so many bames at the BBC now, out of all proportion to their presence in the population, maybe that’s just how the cards fall.

    Hmmm…so much for impartiality…and consistency.

Consider the very different treatment of Jenni Murray….

‘I was not leaving, contrary to popular rumour, as a result of ageism on the part of the BBC. I made the decision a year ago when it became clear to me that it was time to move on and be free of the leash which, in recent years, had caused me to be what I can only describe as ‘cancelled’.

I made clear that I was not transphobic or anti-trans. Indeed, I emphasised my belief that everyone — whether transgender or those of us who hold to the sex assigned to us at birth — should be treated with respect and protected from the bullying and violence that so many like me have suffered.

I merely asked the trans activists to acknowledge the difference between sex and gender, a trans woman and a woman, respect our right to safe single-sex spaces and abandon the nonsensical idea that we should be known as ‘cis women’.

We are women. No need for further definition.

Of course, I was branded a TERF — a Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist — on social media and threatened with all kinds of violence. But what shocked me most was the BBC’s response.

I was roundly ticked off publicly and informed that I would not be allowed to chair any discussions on the trans question or the proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act. I had lots of emails and tweets asking me why I had not been involved in this debate, as it was so important to Woman’s Hour listeners. You have the answer.

A similar response from the BBC came as a result of a short piece I wrote for a book after the referendum on EU membership resulted in our leaving the Union.

Another warning from the BBC came at me. I had breached the rules on impartiality again and this time I would be banned from covering the election in 2019.

Murray was banned from dealing with any subject she had an interest in…or rather from any issue that her interest in was not aligned with the BBC’s own views. The BBC itself can be biased but not its journalists. If she had said she agreed with everything trans-people said she would have been fine to keep on reporting as Mair did on gay issues.

She also confirms what I have always thought….

‘ At one point I was actually encouraged by a channel controller to write a regular column as a way of widening awareness of Woman’s Hour and Radio 4.’

When BBC staff go ‘off ranch’ and write articles for other publications you have to think it is with the express permission of their bosses…one to promote the BBC itself but also to promote the BBC’s worldview and to get it into publications and in front of audiences that wouldn’t possibly normally be subjected to them, and allowing them to express their bias even more explicitly. There’s a reason they all so often turn up in the Mail, the Telegraph and Spectator…though Red Andy seems to prefer sticking to his own kind in the New Statesman.

Why you might ask is Sopel writing a long article in the Mail, which is hardly worthy of being called ‘journalism’….it’s a stream of sneers and smears, the usual Sopel fare….for example he suggests Trump does have links to Russia…there’s a report isn’t there?!?!……

‘Wasn’t there a report on Donald Trump’s links to Russia? ‘

Does he mean that utterly fraudulent report that was proved to be a lie and was fed to America by Russian intelligence via the Democrat Party which was happy to work hand in hand with the Russians?….the meeting arranged between Trump and the Russian lawyers was arranged by the Democrats in a sting attempt. It is the Democrats who had the links to Russia not Trump….but when do you hear Sopel & Co ever state that?

Sopel gave Trump a similar treatment on Today this morning….no facts or real issues just a stream of anti-Trump bias that didn’t inform nor educate…his final word….Trump’s behaviour was ‘mad’.

One way or another the BBC seeks to utterly dominate the media and news scene….its ‘help’ to local Press included providing its own journalists to them…thus extending its power and influence even further.

Did you see the news Rube? Boris Johnson’s top pick has pulled out of the race to become the next chair of the BBC. [1]

It means, though it was nothing to do with our sorry sulks given PR by, er, the BBC, we’re one step closer to preventing him appointing someone who would stop the BBC from looking as bent as a 9€ note.. But we can’t let up. [2]

Boris Johnson is deciding, as PM, who to put in charge of the BBC right now. And already more than 80,000 of us have signed a petition telling him not to destroy the BBC as we know it. [3] Only 69,920,000 people have not! So it’s totally split, as the BBC tries to spin.

As soon as the petition reaches 100,000 we’ll deliver it straight to Downing Street. Boris Johnson will know he can’t get away with his plans to “whack” our BBC. Assuming it gets past Doris in the mail room.

So will you add your name today? By clicking the button below your name will be added automatically!

    Here’s what the petition says:

We, well, licence fee payers, pay for the BBC so it can deliver Strictly, MOTD Gary stuff, EastEnders, Sherlock and Dr. Who (ok, still all we have got); continue to claim to be a trusted, independent news source when that is a bad joke few outside Frankie Howerd will buy; and follow Rog and Greta on issues like climate change. Plus keep Botney’s pension on track and cover Zoe, Samira and that odd bird from HR’s vast wedge.
Keep it publicly funded, paid for by rubes to be pissed on and told it’s raining
Put someone in charge who believes in the values of the BBC. People like Paul Mason, Gavin Esler or James O’Brien; true giants of impartial broadcasting.
Do not prevent the media, well, the W1A #prasnews desk chums we have, from holding poli… Tory scum to account.
Do not install a climate change denier as Chair. How about Sir Boaty? He’s a national treasure!

Our BBC isn’t perfect. Ok, it’s so past its sell by date even CNN is simetimes embarrassed by it. But it needs to stay Our kind of ‘independent‘ (BBC quotes) to hold this powerful government to account so we can get in the kind that is powerful enough to be the last one in history as Citizen’s Assemblies we establish are appointed. In times like these, we need a properly, publicly funded public broadcaster we can rely on. No need to change that, you know who ‘we’ mean by ‘we’.

In the same article, it is revealed that the club is in for a player whose release clause is said to be £45,000,000, which means (for those not interested in football) that the club will have to pay that amount in order to buy him. And that’s only the beginning of the spending: the player would demand a signing-on fee (say a few million) plus a sizeable salary, which I’d conservatively estimate at £5 million per year.

    Sickening, isn’t it?

So much for the club, what about the top earners there, all of whom take the knee before every game in the so-called name of ‘equality’?

I know that Arsenal’s first-team players are said to have taken a pay cut of 12.5% this year, but even so the top earners will be on several million a year.

Might these highly paid SJWs be willing to club together and find the money required to keep the 55 in their jobs…in the name of equality. Or is their stance on the matter just, for want of a better word, horseshit?

I think I know the answer to that one…

          Stanley Matthews.

“On 10 May 1947, immediately after a Great Britain versus Rest of Europe match in Glasgow (Britain won 6–1),[42] he made the move for £11,500, at the age of 32.[43] The match itself raised £30,000 for the four Home Nations Football Associations, and since the eleven British players received £14 each, Matthews questioned where exactly this money ended up – he doubted that much of it ended up as funding for grass-roots football.[44]”

Sorry to say that Scrobs here thinks the whole bloody ‘game’ just stinks. The BBC pay huge sums to keep it all so ridiculously overpaid.

Not the BBC but I just watched Channel 4 news for a change.

Channel 4 is described as a free-to-air “Public” Service Broadcaster.

What I saw was a continuous unconcealed and vicious anti-Trump anti-republican political campaign throughout. The anti-Trump rhetoric was relentless.

I have no doubt that there are large left-wing political forces driving the Channel 4 output from outside, probably as with the BBC who tend to tread just a little more carefully.

Channel 4 has decided to become the UK political partner of the Democrat campaign going all-out 100% in an effort to unseat Trump.

Unlike the BBC who attempt however weakly to hide it, Channel 4 obviously believe that they have the right and mission to spread left-wing propaganda and do so with vigour.

Time is overdue for a balance in this battle against these two unholy politicised outfits foisted on the UK public. I hope the rumours of a new unbiased and impartial news broadcaster are fulfilled as these two incumbents make my stomach turn.

Isn’t it time all these overpaid TV and advertising marketing execs got off their backsides to research what the great British public, yes, even the BAME population, really thinks about this unrelenting promotion of diversity? When they get the inevitable negative feedback it clearly isn’t getting through to the boardrooms or is simply just being ignored – too late to change course now.

The actual on the ground situation at seats of power seems like a Petri dish for just about every nasty thing to get cooked up, literal and figurative.

The WH seems even more fetid than the HoP lobby, with hundreds of weasels scurrying about sniffing every nook, cranny and butt.

We have a noble canine in our house. Exercised, well fed. But he spends his entire time not asleep with his nose on the floor, seeking mouldy scraps. Disgusting. But his nature.

There is a metaphor there somewhere.

Politicians and media deserve each other.

The public who fund them, in some cases by compulsion, deserve neither.

Bollocks to wind power anyway, it’s an unproven way to let power companies lie to ‘customers’, and make huge profits. Boris should know this but he isn’t well.

Katty Kay, Nick Byant, Anthony Zurcher, Jon Sopel, Emily Maitliss etc have shown their truly disgusting bias in abundance these past few days.

And they wonder why they get accused of being a Lefty organisation !!!!

Lets imagine for just one moment this had happened on Obama’s watch and he went for a short ride to wave and thank his supporters. The BBC would be waxing lyrical !!!!

What a great President they would say, even when he is ill he is thinking about his supporters.

The Secret Service being in the car wouldn’t be a issue of course then, they would be part of his “bubble” and other excuses would be made.

There would be a candle lit vigil in BBC Broadcasting House.

For a National Broadcaster to treat the sitting President of our greatest ally in this way is just unforgivable.
