Black nurses came to the UK to save the NHS?

Back in the 1950s my aunt, a nurse, went to Canada. Her friend, a nurse, went to Africa.

We must have had nurses to spare in those days.

According to the BBC, Jim, doctors, especially, and some nurses – when qualified and having trained within the NHS – are still leaving the UK for New Zealand, Canada and Australia. This creates a shortage in the UK which then leads our NHS to rob qualified and trainee doctors and qualified nurses from poorer countries.

You would think the BBC would be totally against this New Imperialism and the damage it causes to the health systems of poorer countries.

      You would think.

      But no.

They seem to be quite happy and content with it.

Sorry Jim but your story just does not support today’s Socialist agenda.
By the way the NHS will ALWAYS be underfunded because the Marxist will say so until Capitalism is defeated. The same may well be true of the deadly?? Corvid19
The problem is that Marxism just means Capitalism for the few at the top with no chance of the lowly free thinking working man ever joining their ranks.
Perhaps I ought not post my comments on this site as I stopped viewing our, so called, National Broadcaster years ago due to their obvious anti British bias.

I see that Purfleeet has changed its name to Purfleet on Thames, the BBC reports.

They then say….But what do people make of the change – and will it make any difference?

Sisters Juliet Obata, 49, and Elfrida Dada, 46, were both resoundingly in support of a change to something “posher” sounding….

Obviously there is a picture of Juliet and Elfrida who are of course….

They never ever miss a chance do they.

I have lived in Purfleet since 1987. It was what some might call hideously white until the Olympic Park was built in Stratford when a large number of local residents were given tidy sums to move out so that their terraces could be flattened. For reasons I could not explain, to a man and woman they moved to Purfleet. The place is now… well, not what it was. An entire demographic change and the BBC would love it. My wife and I loudly being accused of racism for walking our lurcher past one particular house (occupant now in jail) is one story I never tire of telling.

They came here for a better life , to escape the ways of their backward countries but now the immigrant population are trying to turn Great Britain into the despotic countries that they escaped from , just look at London. It has taken up the appearance of the Middle East or North Africa . This is not what the people of Britain want or ever voted for . That explains the demise of Al Beeb but they are so immersed in their PC bubble they cannot see it nor want to see it.

All the nonsense is to do with conditioning. The public are willing participants in the moves to impose a Communist dictatorship by wresting control. That needs very few numbers relatively. Just fall short every time of starting a revolution. Easy and small steps. We are merely seeing, all around us, the early signs of that inevitable slide. Mainly perpetuated by the ‘yoof’ who have been privileged to receive a, ‘Bliar educashun’. Tools of their trade? – ‘Shut people up’, ‘condemn them if we hear what we don’t want to hear’ et al.

Odd though it may seem, if you make a lifestyle choice to take as a partner a corn-rowed young man who fulfils all the established recognition factors of a drug pusher – rightly or wrongly, those factors exist – and choose to drive with him in an all black Mercedes A-Class 200 with all black badging (a costed design choice) and blacked out side and rear windows (another costed design choice, and in the case of the driver and passenger front windows not an MB option but a separate customised cost) both choices being fully established and understood to be drug-related emblems – again, rightly or wrongly – then, allowing for the decisions the police have to make within an increasingly pressured time scale WHAT THE F***K WOULD YOU EXPECT?

Guest, the depressing thing about the vox pop played in the first half-hour of the TOADY programme was 1. how badly spoken the young people were, except for the final contributor, and, 2. how the women presented themselves and the BBC reinforced again in the Fairburn interview that young people and young women especially have ‘anxiety issues’.

        What ministers need to know
Any amount of structured UK involvement in the EU defence architecture, including its defence industrial bodies, brings an obligation to follow EU defence policy …
The EU is not offering ad hoc involvement in EU defence bodies, it is offering attachment on the same basis and with the same expectations as member states …
UK attachment to EU defence industrial bodies is not an advantage to UK industry but rather an impediment because of the rules, benchmarks and strategies the EU imposes.

Further up this trail, Stewgreen appears a little sceptical about our saintly NHS. You know. The ‘finest healthcare system in the world’.

And we have to save it. Remember? The over-riding priority of Coronavirus.

Well, another day, another example of their magnificence.
And even the BBC are mentioning this one, although of course they never join the dots.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53307593

‘Many lives have been ruined because officials failed to hear the concerns of women given drugs and procedures that caused them or their babies considerable harm, says a review.
More than 700 women and their families shared “harrowing” details about vaginal mesh, Primodos and an epilepsy drug called sodium valproate.
Too often worries and complaints were dismissed as “women’s problems”.
It says arrogant attitudes left women traumatised, intimidated and confused.’
    ………..
“I have conducted many reviews and inquiries over the years, but I have never encountered anything like this; the intensity of suffering experienced by so many families, and the fact that they have endured it for decades. Much of this suffering was entirely avoidable, caused and compounded by failings in the health system itself’.

Note how the BBC always talk about ‘the government’ and ‘officials’ but refuse to point the finger where it really needs to go.

    Save the NHS.
Yeah, right. Save it from scrutiny, accountability, objective critique, cultural change, and being responsible for outcomes rather than production.

Thousands of care home residents have died when the NHS discharged infected people from hospital back to their care homes without Coronavirus testing. But on the positive side the NHS built all those Nightingale hospitals and got famous people to open them in great fanfares of publicity.

And how are Shrewsbury, Bristol, and mid Staffs trusts doing these days, to name but three?

A few years ago when I had daily exposure to the NHS I noticed how it’s working practices were designed to make it unaccountable .

The simplest and clearest example ? Email addresses of individuals or departments – no – here’s the telephone number – answer phone – we ll get back to you .

I lived in a working world of emails . If there wasn’t an email – it didn’t happen – audit trails – proof of deliver – proof of reading – proof of action .

Yet – these NHS ‘angels ‘ had no email addresses for punters to contact them ….. people on this site sometimes write posts leaving a question open . Well I don’t – the reason for no email addresses was to avoid work and avoid accountability – and of course – the all important ability to not work at all ……

Once realised that the NHS is a self serving organisation I knew I was at war with it . And still am.

A short journey into the swap

One has come to expect puff pieces such as this from our BBC:

‘Virtual drama classes providing a lifeline for asylum seekers’

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/stories-53316226/virtual-drama-classes-providing-a-lifeline-for-asylum-seekers

‘Ali usually relies on wifi at the college he goes to, to contact his family back home but in lockdown this hasn’t been possible.’

A couple of questions spring to mind. Where’s “home” and how come his family are ok to live there, yet he needs to “seek asylum” here?

But I’m forgetting, the BBC isn’t reporting this story for me to “inform” or “to educate” it’s simply to tug at the heartstrings & give a plug to lefty-minded outfits such as…

‘a non-profit theatre company called the Compass Collective have been providing young asylum seekers with data packages so they can stay in touch with their families but also access virtual creative workshops.’

That’s good of them. Where’s their funding coming from?

    https://www.compasscollect.com/about-compass

    “Supported by Arts Council England”

So, would I be right in thinking that it’s me and you as UK tax payers funding young Ali’s wifi?

    https://www.artscouncil.org.uk/about-us/how-we-invest-public-money

“We invest money from Government and the National Lottery”

Yep, thought so. This Compass Collective – what’s their institutional character, their outlook on society?

    http://www.rescue.org/compass-collective

‘The Compass Collective is your dedicated home within the International Rescue Committee’

Oh, that’s former Blairite Labour chap: ‘David Miliband President and CEO, International Rescue Committee’

But it’s a charity not a politically motivated set up, isn’t it?

‘Under President Trump, seeking and receiving safety in the United States has become next to impossible.’

Ok, they don’t like Trump, but that’s expressing opinion. A little dodgy for a charity but not unusual. They’re not campaigning or directly intervening in politics, are they?

‘We can make sure Congress steps in once again to ensure the United States welcomes refugees no matter who is president… Contact your Representative on this important anniversary and ask them to support the GRACE Act.’

More refugess, more young Alis needing wifi, more funding, more jobs for lefty-minded ex-politicians, more tax for me and you to pay, more, more, more…

AISI, I wonder what is behind this current pushing of face masks on the public. One thing we know is that criminals like to hide their identity to enable them to burgle and rob and mug and stab and deal drugs.

Another thing we know about face masks is that it completely fractures human communities, it reduces everyone to individuals. For example, you might be walking around your home town and someone passes you, walking in the opposite direction, the height and build and dress mean that it is someone you would know and greet and perhaps talk to. Masked, you might not recognise them and they might not recognise you. The human ‘contact’ and interaction is lost.

What is behind this enthusiasm for masks?

If you hear something being pushed by the BBC and MSM, it is really interesting that I have a tendency to immediately become suspicious.

Clubs versus Hotels is a good analogy for what is happening to countries in the West.

People in a club have a common interest but may make different contributions:
        – the village cricket club: the small boys find the balls in the rough, the young men play, the old men umpire or keep score, the wives make the tea!

        – the hotel: you arrive, you get a room, you get fed, you pay the bill. You have no interaction with the other guests, indeed they are a nuisance, making noises at night, holding you up at reception. The hotel is all that you have in common but no-one will set up a protest group if the service is bad because no-one knows anyone else and besides, as above, they are your competitors for service. All the hotel management is concerned with is getting more ‘guests’ from anywhere.

Sounds familiar? What next? Appartment #2087, Mosque #69, Tractor Factory #3, Pret a Donald’s #6523?

Meanwhile ‘the great and good’ take a private jet to a ski resort far from you!

The Dems have been at it, secretly at the beginning, for now decades and that has become quite obvious now. They would now be in the process of dismantling everything toward their goal of making the US subservient to China.
That’s why they are so livid that DJT stopped the slide. I think the US citizens must prepare for what’s to come post 03/11. The greatest civil unrest is yet to come and DJT will find very little support from the Pentagon. It will be truly a case of the right people standing up and being counted.

As far as I know the betting odds are based on the weight of money . Perhaps democrats suffer from wishful thinking and are willing to put their money on it . As I said in my reply post – the betting odds are often wrong – and the odds for the PB to win an 80 majority here were pretty generous ….

As an Englishmen I think it’s difficult to picture the views of the whole of America ….. and more specifically the issue of postal voting – which seems to be a bigger factor this time .

By November the US economy will have recovered – covid will not return to the alarming levels – failing Democrat cities will be the same as they are now – but with bigger cemeteries ….or maybe not .

Cannot help applauding the conceit of the woman-she wants an all black/ coloured government opening the doors to Africa where once their slave trading with the Arabs was on a massive scale against the relatively conservative slaving numbers as transported by European Countries during the 16/17/18th centuuries. But of course the black nations history is rarely taught-Black people just hate being considered Black, not appreciating as to wht they were that colour. Funny -dangerous old world we now see before us.

Stew, while you are here, have you ever ‘looked closely’ at the front pages of the newspapers as bought to us by the BBC on their web-site until about 1 p.m. each day?

It has always interested me that for what could be said to be the last of the conservative papers, the Daily Telegraph, the repro is so poor on the BBC web-site that the small text is very difficult to read. It seems to me that the Guardian (said to be the BBC House Journal) is always amazingly clear.

Have you or any of your computer-ace friends looked deeply at the megapixels to see if the BBC applies some, er, shall we say ‘filtration’ to the DT but not the others? It seemed striking today that the noise level on the DT was high but not on the Grauniad front page.

The FT – which might be considered to be a conservative newspaper but post-2016 has espoused a much more liberal line – has suddenly become easier to read. Yes, I know pink pages reduce contrast and thereby the definition, but it is interesting to me and may be to others on here.

Whoa , it sounded racist when clipped out of context
It wasn’t racist and Starkey’s arguments are based on truth & logic NOT racism.

FFS Grimes is a bit hopeless
Before you defend yourself you always have to acknowledge victims

“I want to acknowledge that today’s black people have genuine concerns
cos in the past some black people have suffered harm at the hands of some more powerful white people judging them by skin colour ..and that when they hear an edit from the Starkey conversation it does SOUND racist, so is concerning.
I can put myself in their shoes and feel concern.
However I accept Starkey’s apology that he is sorry it came out that way, cos that is certainly not what he meant. Rather he was cursing what his opponents argument as ridiculous.
And I and I think Starkey believe in the principles of equality, not judging people by skin colour
Likewise I welcome people from all ethnicities onto my free speech podcast and would hope that they are not hounded if their words come out wrong.

actually bully and call out at white people as well, on any pretext.

I have noticed that if I am about to explain to anyone that BLM are a Marxist organisation, I always preface my comments with something to the effect that racism is wrong. I shouldn’t have to, not because I am a racist, but to ensure whatever is said cannot be taken out of context. Darren Grimes found this out to his cost.

I am looking forward to the day when a man is not judged by the colour of his skin. That means the BBC doesn’t say in adverts for jobs that ‘applications are particularly welcome from BME candidates’ or that you see contestants with low IQs given a place on Celebrity Mastermind and given easier question even though they have a Harvard degree, because they are black (but that didn’t work well). I want a day when Fiona Bruce doesn’t see the colour of a person’s skin when she asks someone on Antiques Roadshow their opinion. It is the BBC that is defining people by the colour of their skin.

I might add that I define myself as a woman. If men walking ahead of me notice me, and chose to open the door for me, it is fine by me. But if I am against a man in a job opportunity I would like to be treated as an equal.

The BBC did not have a big interviewee for the prime 8.10 a.m. Interview Slot on TOADY and instead relied on a Vox Pop from various members of the public on what they wanted to hear from Rishi Sunak, The Chancellor, today. A VAT reduction appeared to be generally one of the items to go on Rishi’s little long list. No comment on that from Justin.

But on the BBC Web-site Home Page AND on the News Page the BBC are pushing for a Stamp Duty holiday or cut on house purchases.

Mr AsISeeIt is basically a lockdown skeptic. If the Wuhan Virus was so dangerous then why did we not quarantine this country early and properly?

Well, the WHO sought to protect the reputation of the Communist government of China, then lefty-minded pro- open borders media and politicians sought to protect Chinese communities from supposedly nasty racist western populations. So the threat was played down.

Next phase was the media collaborating with control-minded governments shouting this virus is very very dangerous – lockdown lockdown lockdown…! Borders closed now…? Er, not so much.

And, do you by any chance remember how early on we treated the virus as nothing to worry about – well, forget that. The slightly conservative governments we don’t like and would prefer to replace well, it’s all their fault for not taking it seriously early enough. Did we mention the borders, no? Good. Still don’t want them closed.

      Others
Leave names /details of killers / criminals of reports if it doesn’t fit the narrative
Avoid describing the true nationality of a baddie eg ‘reading man’ means Libyan Muslim terrorist – simple once ones eyes are opened ….

Oh – and chuck in “far Right “ whenever nothing fits ….

    The mask thing.

He didn’t want to feel like he had entered a Turkish Seraglio or was forcably participating in some Venetian Festival.

He suspects the public transport rule may be the thin end of the wedge and this peculiar foreign habit of face covering will seep out in society at large.

He regards mask wearing as a badge of fear, of mistrust and of passive aggression.

To cheer us up he relates a comic exchange.

Mr AsISeeIt is a little too respectable to want to risk confronation with busybody fellow passengers or petty officials, too tight to fork out fines & a tad too long in the tooth to do jail time – there may be a hill he wants to die on for the cause but not just yet.

Having just had a hearty English breakfast overlooking an – ahem – ‘soft’ looking Kingsbridge estuary in remarkably ‘English’ Devon, I feel very heartened by what was apparently a slightly booze-inspired Twitter rant by free-speech and anti-lockdown hero Toby Young.

He shares my view that the woke McCarthyism can’t last forever and there are already signs of its eventual demise in yesterday’s Lockdown Sceptics posting. As he points out – the woke guard are cancelling people, but not murdering them – people like Jordan Peterson and Lawrence Fox live on as highly motivated to put an end to the nonsense.

The resistance movement is gaining momentum. (We need a sign-off to use like WR for ‘woke resistance’ or something.)

Also, proud to see that 6 F1 drivers refused to submit to the BLM oppression, and Hamilton was penalised twice in the Austrian GP – must be Karma ????.

    https://lockdownsceptics.org/

    Toby’s Tweets:

1/ Thought I’d do a thread about reasons to be cheerful about the Cultural Revolution. All of these are variations on the same theme: the Red Guards have seized cultural power, but not political power.

2/ It’s a coup in which the revolutionaries have secured the public broadcaster, but not the military. They don’t have a monopoly over the legitimate use of force – they can’t murder or imprison counter-revolutionaries, just cancel them – and that means the coup will fail.

3/ Take universities, art schools, dance schools, drama schools, colleges of further education, etc. The coup has been 100% successful in those institutions. There’s literally zero tolerance for any dissent from Woke orthodoxy across the HE sector.

4/ But the timing of the revolutionaries isn’t great. >50% of those institutions will shortly be facing an existential crisis because of Covid. Travel restrictions will mean fewer non-British students, exacerbated by the fact that EU nationals will no longer get the fee break.

5/ And a lot of students who’ve accepted places will defer for a year, what with lectures and tutorials delivered online, campus social life hampered by stupid social distancing rules, nightlife in university cities non-existent. So most universities are facing a perfect storm.

6/ >50% won’t survive unless they can attract more students in 2021 and persuade the Govt to bail them out. So what do they do? They make it crystal clear that if you’re not a member of a victim group you’ll be demonised from day one. Make a pass at a girl? You’re a rapist.

7/ Voice the mildest dissent from the BLM policy agenda – you think it might not be a great idea to defund the police, for instance – and you’re a racist. Say you think JK Rowling might have a point and you’re a transphobe.

8/ At a time when the sector needs to attract as many new students as it can – and persuade a Conservative Government to bail it out! – it has doubled down on hard Left anti-capitalist gobbledegook and created an aggressively hostile environment for anyone to the right of Corbyn.

9/ So the good news is at least half of these Woke-us Dei religious seminaries will go bankrupt (assuming the Govt holds it nerve). The pipeline the cult has been using to pump lobotomised activists into the workforce is about to be bombed.

10/ The Professor of Whiteness Studies at the University of Central Bedfordshire will lose his £120,000-a-year, taxpayer-subsidised job and end up driving an Uber, where his ability to make converts will be confined to drunk couples snogging on the back seat.

11/ What about schools? The coup has been 100% successful in schools, too. Private and state. So many people have sent me documentary evidence that their children’s schools are now teaching the BLM Gospel, with heretics being burnt at the stake, I’ve stopped collecting it.

12/ So children will be bombarded with anti-British, Neo-Marxist propaganda from 9am to 3.30pm five days a week. They’ll be taught that British history is an unbroken litany of oppression, exploitation and self-deception. The message will be: “Hate your country and yourself.”

13/ But with everyone singing from the same hymn sheet – teachers, comedians, the BBC, the Premier League, Hollywood, etc. – most teenagers are bound to reject this dogma. Counter-cultural revolutionaries like Jordan Peterson will have the added glamour of being outcasts.

14/ And the more Woke the metropolitan elite becomes, the more likely right-wing populists are to win elections. Working class voters see this puritanical self-flagellation (we’re such sinners!) for what it is – a way for high-caste whites to differentiate themselves from them.

15/ It’s an expression of snobbish contempt dressed up as a self-righteous crusade. And the more left-wing parties embrace this nonsense, the more they alienate traditional working class voters. I think Trump will win in November.

16/ So absent an actual coup, the High Priests of the Intersectionality Cult will never obtain political power. And even though the process will be slow, right-wing politicians will gradually turn off the financial faucets that are funding this religious movement.

17/ Another asset for the counter-revolutionary side is that the people the Red Guards go after are often the smartest people in their fields/professions. Brilliant academics, teachers, actors, community organisers, comedians, etc., are being cancelled every day.

18/ And the upshot is that they become highly-motivated Generals in the counter-revolution. In the Soviet Union, picking off the Communist Party’s most gifted opponents worked because they were imprisoned or murdered. But just cancelling people isn’t nearly as effective.

19/ So this Maoist moment in which the Red Guards seem to be sweeping all before them could be a last hurrah. They’ve seized an important bridgehead, but haven’t secured their supply lines. It’s the French Revolution without the guillotine.

20/ I don’t mean to sound glib. I know 100s of good people are being blacklisted every day at the behest of rage mobs. It’s McCarthyism on steroids. But take heart. Join the resistance. Our opponents have immersed themselves in Foucault, but not Machiavelli. We will win.

On the Today programme this morning, college youths asked about their concerns regarding getting a job in the post-Coronavirus era. One young gentleman comes on to complain that his chosen job was to be a chef, employed in a 5-star hotel, and he’s concerned that Coronavirus is deliberately picking on him and his chosen job aspirations. Not, you might have noticed, his eventual goal, this was the job he wanted straight after leaving college ! No on-the-job training in a lesser-quality establishment, and eventually, after a lot of hard work and effort, establishing himself as worthy of the chef’s job in a premier hotel.

Next week, no doubt, we’ll be hearing from a young man at some college somewhere who has possibly attended a soccer training session at school at least once in his life, and will be demanding that Liverpool FC, Man UTd, Man City and Arsenal get into a bidding war for his services, the winner to immediately place him on the first team roster.

What is it with the youth of today ? They have been brainwashed by parents, teachers and TV output into believing they can be anything they want to be. Tony Blair started the process of their downfall with the complete devaluation of a University education – so all they have to do is to booze and party their way through a numpty degree course, and they can immediately and effortlessly become a sports star, a rock musician, a TV star, major filmstar, whatever – none of these have a skills barrier for them, it is their right !

Boy, is this post-pandemic world going to come as a ‘devastating’ (and I’m not throwing that word around liberally, like the media does) shock to their system.

Back in the 1960s out of 1,000 pupils only 100 would have gone to university and only 3 would have recieved ‘firsts’.

After the Blair revolution 500 went on to university and 230 received ‘firsts’.

Opening the door wider might have let more in but it should have had an only marginal effect on the number in the top group.

Even if the universities had kept the same marking standardisation methods as used in the 1960s i.e. keep the proportion passing their exams the same by adjusting the grades, there should only be 15 ‘firsts’ in a present-day cohort of 1,000 pupils.

I expect one needs a PhD to say “Won frize wiv dat bruv?” nowadays.

Still at least it exposes the climate lie, after all who would be getting excited about statues when climate change will kill us all in a few years.

BBC not interested in fact-checking Boris’ statement that care homes failed to carry out procedures fully…..Kuenssberg telling us his comments were crass and he needed to reflect on them…everyone was shocked and outraged by his comments apparently….it’s all the government’s fault as it was too slow to react.

Boris has ‘refused to apologise’….BBC shaping it so that it looks like he has something to apologise for….but he doesn’t as any fact-check would show.

Just the usual BBC anti-Boris narrative.

    The BBC admits….

‘Despite two reviews by the force’s directorate of professional standards, Dame Cressida said the force had found no misconduct by its officers.’

Claims of racism are racist in themselves.

Just listening to Sunak [sounding remarkably like Osborne]…said the measures ut in place, helping all nations of the UK, only possible due to us being a united kingdom.

Expect the BBC to fact-check that as wee shuggy loudly objects to the comments.

Anneliese Dodds is , apparently , the shadow chancellor – she had to respond to the Richi money tree statement . Unfortunately she did a good job of looking like the ‘wicked witch of the west ‘ . Now I know ‘looks ‘ shouldn’t matter but it’s difficult not to listen and look .

It would have been nice if the Labour Party could have supported the government attempt to stop the ship from sinking but it opposes to oppose – much like the BBC will .

I think labour would have everyone on the furlough scheme for ever …

So black people want all our jobs now whatever their qualifications or lack of, and now refuse to be arrested whatever the circumstances

I suppose all the jobless white males will soon have to hand over their white wives

will there be a market with bidding ?

the arabs have a strong track record in organising these up until very very recently,

    although never acknowledged,

only whitee could be a slaver..?

In the ideal BBC world you would be all forced into mixed marriages in order to breed out the whiteness…..that’s not a joke, nor speculation. Labour, and the BBC, want to ‘brown’ Britain….and I still remember BBC presenters telling us how much more beautiful mixed race people were…and more mentally stable….though judging from what I see that ain’t the case….a lot of mixed race people seem pretty mixed up.

And to what end? Witness the rampant racism black African can show to black African, Pakistani to Indian, etc etc.

During the second half of the 19th century and early 20th century, slaves shipped from Ethiopia had a high demand in the markets of the Arabian peninsula and elsewhere in the Middle East. They were mostly domestic servants, though some served as agricultural labourers, or as water carriers, herdsmen, seamen, camel drivers, porters, washerwomen, masons, shop assistants and cooks. The most fortunate of the men worked as the officials or bodyguards of the ruler and emirs, or as business managers for rich merchants.[59] They enjoyed significant personal freedom and occasionally held slaves of their own. Besides European, Caucasian, Javanese and Chinese girls brought in from the Far East, “red” (non-black) Ethiopian young females were among the most valued concubines. The most beautiful ones often enjoyed a wealthy lifestyle, and became mistresses of the elite or even mothers to rulers.[59] The principal sources of these slaves, all of whom passed through Matamma, Massawa and Tadjoura on the Red Sea, were the southwestern parts of Ethiopia, in the Oromo and Sidama country.[60]

In the Central African Republic, during the 16th and 17th centuries Muslim slave traders began to raid the region as part of the expansion of the Saharan and Nile River slave routes. Their captives were enslaved and shipped to the Mediterranean coast, Europe, Arabia, the Western Hemisphere, or to the slave ports and factories along the West and North Africa coasts or South along the Ubanqui and Congo rivers.[61][62]

The Arab slave trade in the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, and Mediterranean Sea long predated the arrival of any significant number of Europeans on the African continent south of the Sahara.[51][63]

While in Wadi Safra during WWI, T.E. Lawrence wrote, “…these blacks were originally from Africa, brought over as children by their nominal Takruri fathers, and sold during the pilgrimage, in Mecca. Some became house or body servants with their masters; but the majority were sent out to the palm villages…and did all the manual work of the holding.

So what’s that got to do with me? I was born in 1940 and I never owned a slave. All I see is my country being invaded by illegal aliens who hate us and having their arses wiped by British taxpayers. WTF?

Some facts for the racist bbbc fact checkers:

During the Second Sudanese Civil War (1983-2005) people were taken into slavery; estimates of abductions range from 14,000 to 200,000.

Slavery in Mauritania was legally abolished by laws passed in 1905, 1961, and 1981. It was finally criminalized in August 2007. It is estimated that up to 600,000 Mauritanians, or 20% of Mauritania’s population, are currently in conditions which some consider to be “slavery”, namely, many of them used as bonded labour due to poverty.

Slavery was comparatively recently outlawed in Oman (1970),Qatar (1952), Saudi Arabia, and Yemen (both in 1962)
