It ‘sure ain’t gonna happen, you betcha’!

This morning, via a link from the Guido Fawkes blog, I discover that the BBC is doing something which is actually quite sad.

The report is about a current Radio 4 show, What’s Funny About… that made a retrospective examination of the BBC’s satirical series The Thick of It.

Not having heard the thing I don’t know if they mentioned former leading actor in the show Chris Langham being done on 15 charges of downloading and possessing level 5 child pornography and getting jailed for ten months, reduced to six on appeal, but they do chat with the show’s creator Armando Iannucci and Langham’s replacement in the latter series Rebecca Front.

Then I notice What’s Funny About… also have an episode on The Vicar Of Dibley, with Blackadder and Absolutely Fabulous to follow.

Has it come to this? Is the only thing worth catching on the BBC these maudlin naval gazing exercises in reminding the audience of their past glories?

If I see any future for the BBC it’s this:

Scrap all news and new stuff – save money by simply running the old shows on never-ending loops – and to get around problems like Chris Langham or anything with Jimmy Savile or It Ain’t Half Hot Mum they could perhaps include intermittent censorship by revised cutting of old content as and when it becomes offensive to what the BBC imagines to be our inevitably developing sensitivies.

Admittedly the volume of stock of broadcastable material would gradually dwindle over time in ever-decreasing circles and that would in itself shrink the audience, but I guess that would at least give us an end point for the BBC.

I caught a bit of the In The Thick Of It love-in on Radio 4 Extra.

How anyone can be proud of that vile programme beats me.

The programme was totally unrealistic because of the working environment that the BBC itself has created, any ‘effing’ by a minister would have the CPSA demanding and getting their resignation.

The BBC are just desperately short of new ideas. Our local news man on Look North was asking people to send in their last photo they took on their phone before lockdown. How boring and desperate.

AS – there is nothing FUNNY on the beeb any more. I cringe when I try to listen to their ‘comedy’ on R4 at 11pm. It is beyond embarrassing. The ‘off’ switch has to be used regularly.
The bbc that made gems like ‘Dad’s Army’ and ‘Fawlty Towers’ is long gone.
Besides trying to overthrow the elected government via the “News” and other politically-loaded programmes, (however disappointing that has turned out to be), feeding us endless reruns of old programmes seems to be a current bbc preoccupation.

Apparently if you fly via Ireland you escape quarantine rules.

Surely all you want is to stop Covid19 infected people flying.
So they should maybe ask people to do a certified quarantine week before they fly from whatever country
or have a Covid19 antibody certificate.
And that you are escorted from your car direct to the plane without waiting in lines with other people.
And maybe at the other end the same.

Looking at ‘Die Welt’, I see it has an audio under the ‘Media Week’ heading, entitled “Welcome to the populism pandemic”. We don’t even need to listen to know what’s coming…
Well, whaddaya know? The MSM have found a new linguistic link to make, and they’re pretty pleased with themselves.
It will arrive in UK soon, I’m sure, if it hasn’t already?

They not the first to do that illiteration
      “a shameful fact is undeniable.
The highest #Covid19 casualties are in the US and the #UK, where the mendacities of the populist right have deformed society..”

      What’s wrong with that ?
#1 We don’t have reliable stats for many countries like China/Russia
#2 intensity of a problem is not ranked by raw deaths
but by death rate per million population
And in that case a few countries like Belgium rank well above the US and the UK
#3 You might as well be saying that the LESS free and the MORE totalitarian a society the easier it is to pin down a pandemic.

Listening to an interview with Liberal Ed Davey this morning on BBC breakfast.
I got the impression Ed Davey suggested Dominic Cummings should have considered putting his children into the care of the local authorities instead of driving them up to Durham for his parents to look after.

When a spouse got it the other spouse often didn’t catch it.

I wonder if Cummings if got Covid from getting a big viral load by sitting in the same car for 3 hours ?
Or did they use 2 cars ?

However if you are strong it is not a bad thing to catch Covid19
        cos now he has resistance.

The job of lockdown was to avoid overwhelming the NHS.
… that would have happened if a load of vulnerable people had caught Covid.
It doesn’t matter if young people catch it, as long as they don’t pass it to the vulnerable.

Did Cummings action cause a risk of spreading Covid to the vulnerable ?
He could have had a car crash and thus his wife spread it to an NHS worker I guess. But that is a one in a millions type event.

Apparently the Chief Medical officer said that at the daily briefing once
that sometimes there are exceptional circumstances like when parents come down with the virus,
then they can seek childcare within the family
or failing that use local authority hubs

He had access to childcare within the family, so he used it.
The regs don’t say you can’t drive along way to get to this childcare.

major Chinese whispers being used by libmob to move the story to the LEFT of reality
          – So an Italian journo tweets
“Devastating statement by Durham police on Cummings’ visit during lockdown”
Not understanding that PCC is a role OUTSIDE the police.
          – Others say that Cummings was driving whilst he knew HE was infected
whereas he said only his wife was infected at the time.
          – Other call his wife a liar for her account of caring for him during his infection which they say was in the London flat
..whereas actually her article never gave the location
a later Daily Mail reprint added that in.
          – were his parents living in the Durham farm or just his sisters family, ..I don’t know yet.

          BTW The BBC never tweeted
          ” police criticise Cummings”

          The BBC live-webpage is headed
Police say PM aide’s lockdown trip was ‘unwise’
They frame it using a sinsiter dark pic

Buried on page 2 they use that title

          BREAKING
Police: Cummings ‘unwise’ to travel to Durham
We’ve just heard from No 10 saying the PM’s chief adviser, Dominic Cummings, did not break any rules by travelling 260 miles from London to Durham during lockdown.

But this – more critical – statement has just come from the Durham police and crime commissioner, Steve White:

“Given the whole ethos of the guidance and regulations was designed to reduce the spread, regardless of reason, by travelling to County Durham when known to be infected was most unwise.

“To beat this crisis we need to be selfless as millions have been. The response by the people of Durham has been exemplary which makes this most frustrating and concerning.”

    So… Louise Raw.

As a bit of an amateur historian myself I came across this vile woman via another news website. A little digging quickly reveals her raison d’être and BBC credentials.

A self confessed expert on Colonialism, Gender, Sexuality, Sexual Violence and Women, Disturbingly she is an historical consultant to the BBC and resident historian on BBC Radio London.

    Check this tweet out…

    She’s no historian. She actually suffers from known condition;

HM. Other-wise know as ‘Historical Myopia’.

It manifests itself through prejudicial prescription Social Justice Warrior glasses. The carrier hates anything British, White and judges every historical event through a left wing ideological feminist prism despite the obvious incongruity to the wider population.

Therapy is pointless as ‘trigger words’ simply result in ‘Racist’, ‘Sexist’ or ‘Misogynist’ being hurled back to the rational councillor. There is no know cure, yet ‘HM’ is increasingly prevalent in British cities. Some are working on a vaccine, but it’s years away and may take a revolution in wider practice to achieve.

Seriously; it’s completely shameful that someone like this is a paid consultant to the BBC. As a self confessed overtly pro multiculti, feminist wind bag; what value does she bring to any historical debate? …I mean, any consultation or critical thinking would result in the same identical conclusion.

Horrible rich white men did it.

Unfortunately, she is typical of both the BBC and the establishment at large. Existing only because of the little metro-protected echo bubble she resides within.

My god, our country is so divided.

But just before it started, they advertised 2 forthcoming shows, the first of which I think is on I-Player and appears to be full of BAME’s and women; and the second show looks like it’s full of women and flouncing transgender-type attention-seeking arty people.

It’s as if the bBBC are saying “ok, we’ll show Citizen Kane, but remember it’s *these* type of shows that we really stand for”.

And just before the movie started, the female announcer says “The greatest movie ever? YOU decide” – said in rather a condescending tone I thought.

Not BBC but here’s an observation of the kind of corporate cultural prejudices and bigoted leftist messaging with which we are now confronted daily.

An advertisement for on-line family history research promises to unlock your family history. Their advert is illustrated with modern photos of an elderly woman and an elderly man with overlaid charicature drawings suggesting what background their ancestors may have had.

The woman is portrayed as a nurse during the Great War.

The man as an Edwardian criminal pictured in mug shots, frontal and in profile, complete with chalked convict number.

    Casual misandry.

Such imagery is propagated day in day out. No one seems to complain.

…. the Sunday’s will be after a fresh angle on this nonsense story …..

Getting to the stage of wondering what the value of these ‘briefings ‘ are ….

It’s starting to sound like those White House press briefings where every thing is ‘gotcha ‘

So far, every single question from the media during this afternoon’s briefing is on precisely the same subject and with little or no variation in the wording…

Is this it ? Is this the best that our media can do – try to get the scalp of a government representative that they hate – basically suggest that they should have potentially abandoned their 4-year-old son, or dumped the child into an local authority institution…..?

Jeez – nothing else is more important to our illustrious media than getting the scalp of Dominic Cummings ? No wonder the public has basically lost any trust in media – and particularly with a publicly-funded body like the BBC. Disgusting abuse of the general public’s time – we’re supposed to be learning about the current health crisis in these meetings.

They are not interested at all in the lowest number of Covid deaths for two months, the stunning downward trend of Covid cases in our capital, or the spending of £1billion on one of the key routes across the north of England.

Here’s the thing. Its being reported that Cummings & his wife were so ill they couldn’t care for their child – hence the journey north to mum and dad.

So, why doesn’t someone ask the question ? “If the pair of them were so ill, they wouldn’t have been capable of driving 5 miles let alone 260 miles !! ” Driving with a dose of the flu to the local doctor is bad enough, so the thought of driving to the other end of the country would be out of the question. And Covid is twice as bad, so what exactly constitutes them being ‘very ill’.

    Suspicious or what.

    • Beltane says:

I think the length of time covid symptoms take to cause actual harm to reactions and concentration levels is the major factor Briss. If DC knew Boris was going down with the virus and that his close proximity to him over several days would almost inevitably mean he would be next, taking the chance to scoot off up north with wife and child is fairly normal behaviour for a responsible adult.
After all, it’s no different to what our king in waiting – and waiting, Dei Gratia – has done for the past several months. The only significant difference is that Cummings has been missed.

ah cos the Guardian say that was in the police statement
“Durham constabulary said it spoke to Cummings’s *family* to remind them of the lockdown rules after receiving reports on 31 March that ”

    Actually the police statement says
“Officers made contact with the owners of that address who confirmed that the individual in question was present and was self-isolating in part of the house.
“In line with national policing guidance, officers explained to the family the guidelines around self-isolation and reiterated the appropriate advice around essential travel”.

If it is a farm, the family might well not be the owner.

Or it could be that his sister lives in the town and Cummings rented the place next door.
and people mistakenly assume he was at his parents farm
(which people claim he part owns)

Piers is shouting “Gotcha , your wife’s sister lives a few streets away from your London house”
I don’t see that proves she was avilable to take care of their child like his sister did .

Following my earlier post on Napoleon’s strange position in history, isn’t it equally strange that while the MSM are deliriously happy to pile in to Dominic Cummings, another man, one who has caused a vast amount more harm and given duplicity in politics a bad name, Alistair Campbell, is now a respected and regular BBC go-to. You could not, as they say, make it up.
Add the absurd amount of time in the ‘Covid Up-Date’ devoted to this non-event, in relation to what the actual pandemic is doing, like the lowest recorded deaths for 2 months, our world becomes more Mad Hatter’s Tea Party each day. Finish off with the superb ‘Bangladeshi Compo’ query from one noble contributor and it’s a wonder Grant Shapps didn’t slip in the puddle of oil he’d created by his replies.

Looking at the latest beeb tv news, the self-important, puffed up little twerp, Ian Watson, tried to make this into a big story. One gets slightly nauseated, listening to him drone on in a lead story that merely proves how empty the pathetic bbc cupboard really is.

The BBC insults my country every day. We face a serious situation when millions could lose their livelihoods and the country become ungovernable. And they worry about this Cummings man. Now I know nothing about him really and have no desire to do so. He is not essential to the life of the nation but equally he is not worthy of all this rubbish from the media.
The BBc and it’s acolytes are failing the nation. WE need to put this country back to work somehow and to put our children first. That means the teachers must cooperate with the government instead of pursuing an agenda of leftwing nonsense.
The Celtic fringes need to stop playing about. Sturgeon only wants independence and as for the Welsh Assembly they are behaving as though they have real clout. They have nothing. Skint as usual. Call their bluff. Force immediate independence on Scotland and do the same to Wales.
Then stop all funds and close the borders. Really close them. Visas the lot.
AS for the teaching unions. Give them a choice. Talk sensibly or the state will dismiss all teachers . I mean all and re employ them on different terms.
The future is going to be hard enough . Those not with the nation must decide.

Maybe we don’t need the teachers?

I was looking on you tube about General Flynn and was surprised to find a 12 minute excerpt from Sky Australia about how damaging it was for Biden and how much it tarnished Obama. The Sky presenters were damning in their criticism of the Obama WH and agreed that there was much more wrong doing that was going to be exposed in the coming weeks. The Trump WH was given a fair hearing. We would never see this on Sky UK. The contrast between the Sky UK and Sky Australia is astonishing. It is very hard to believe that the two organisation belong to the same parent company. I am going to see if I can view Sky Australia more regularly.
