Weekend Thread 7 March 2020

The new Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has said that the BBC needs ‘diversity of Thinking ‘ – the softest of criticism of the Far Left monster that is the Biased BBC .

How will it react ? Will it suddenly turn ‘ pro Britain ‘ ?or continue to pour out crude propaganda supporting its selected favourite groups and ideas whilst ignoring issues of great concern to those who are forced to pay for it – such as the mass rape of children or the majority’s belief in Brexit ?

Having moaned on the previous Thread about the pathetic Dr Oakeshott (other spellings are available), a GP from south London who appeared on TOADY on Thursday or Friday, I was cheered this morning when TOADY invited on two female doctors who both sounded highly competent. One was Chris Witty’s current deputy and the other had been a Deputy Chief Medical & Health Officer for England.

Three cheers for good women doctors. And good male doctors, too.

It’s been reported that Bond 25, No Time To Die, has had it’s release pushed back from April to November due to fears that the coronavirus outbreak will damage it’s box office takings.
However, rumours have surfaced that the movie was given a poor reception at a test screening and MGM are using the virus as a cover for re-shoots. Could this be a theme elsewhere, too?
Just because the phonies claim to love Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s work, it doesn’t mean 007 fans will. . . Note that YouTube content creators don’t appear able to mention coronavirus in otherwise unrelated videos.

Maybe its me, but this Phyllis Waller-Bridge seems very overhyped to me. I was 20 minutes in to the first episode of Killing Eve, and I’d had enough. There are loads of things I don’t ‘get’ on the box, and this is one of them.

        BRISSLES,
Same here, I’ve just been looking in a tv listings magazine at the upcoming dramas for Spring and there’s absolutely bog-all that interests me. Some people will always like anything that’s new and hyped. I expect I was guilty of that when I was younger, too.
This evening I started watching two different recent movies (Gifted on Film 4 and Passengers on Channel 4) and didn’t finish either. This isn’t about my opinion, they were just objectively bad.
As for Killing Eve, I quote Humphrey Bogart on his own film, Beat The Devil:
        “Only phonies like it.”

It’s a German series of eight episodes (suprisingly) and basically a asteroid is about the hit the earth in 8 Days time. No BME no Gay message albeit somthing that’s relevant and quite plausible is in the story. No female saviour and first and foremost no climate change nonsense. So you can watch knowing there isn’t a message a comming . Enjoy.

    https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/joanna-jedrzejczyk-head-injury-ufc-248-a4381411.html

    UFC, you ask?

‘The Ultimate Fighting Championship is an American mixed martial arts promotion company based in Las Vegas, Nevada’

Well, I know the BBC are very fiesty in their promotion of women’s boxing but surely they don’t favour this UFC thing?

Au contraire, of course they do:

‘Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm bounced back into the win column with a unanimous decision victory over Raquel Pennington at UFC 246.’

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/mixed-martial-arts/51165661

‘Holm, who famously knocked out Ronda Rousey with a head kick to win the title back at UFC 193 in 2015, used her slick footwork and kickboxing skills to outmanoeuvre Pennington during their three-round co-main event bout’

So we look forward with bated breath to the BBC report on this current story.

‘Both women were taken to hospital after a breath-taking strawweight title bout that UFC president Dana White described as ‘one of the best fights I have ever seen’.’

    You go girls !

And remember, it’s those F1 trackside dollies who are the ones being demeaned and exploited.

After days of excitedly reporting that Priti Patel had bullied and humiliated her civil servants and caused one to take an overdose in an attempt to kill herself the BBC political reporters must be exhausted which would explain why they seem to have missed this from the Telegraph….

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2020/03/07/sir-philip-rutnam-declared-war-priti-patel-says-senior-civil/

Sir Philip Rutnam ‘declared war’ on Priti Patel, says senior civil servant in new backing for Home Secretary

‘A senior civil servant has launched an attack on Sir Philip Rutnam, the Home Office’s former top official, for “declaring war” on Priti Patel, accusing him of having “undermined the integrity” of his profession.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the mandarin said they had witnessed officials openly undermining Ms Patel in meetings, having apparently “disagreed with what she was trying to do”.

The official witnessed the minister becoming “frustrated” but said they never witnessed “bullying”. The senior Whitehall figure, who has served under both Labour and Conservative governments, said the “normal process” in Whitehall would have seen Sir Philip take a new role if he and Ms Patel could not work together.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said: “He should have been saying, ‘you’re the democratically elected Home Secretary and it’s me who’s got to go.’ I think it sets a dangerous precedent – senior civil servants trying to take down a democratically elected minister. Even if her behaviour was bad you just do not do this.”’

Oh wait…the BBC didn’t miss it, they know about it..they reported, sorry, mentioned it, on What the Papers Say…..but oddly couldn’t work up the energy to do a full report themselves.

You might think they would be happy to find that maybe the Home Secretary is not ritually disembowelling all who fail her when only yesterday the BBC was very, very concerned that perhaps with the Home Office in such disarray due to Patel’s incompetence and bullying the war on the coronavirus would be drastically derailed.

The BBC’s open borders, mass immigration campaigning causes conflict and trouble around the world.

Ironically the Romanians are being terribly ‘racist’ [though boo hiss…it’s all the fault of the neo-Nazi Hungarians]

Romania racism row: Bakers from Sri Lanka feel the heat

‘Three Sri Lankan bakers who moved to a quiet town in Romania to work in a bread factory have unexpectedly found themselves at the centre of an anti-immigration storm.

The workers had gone to Ditrau, a town of 5,000 people in a predominantly ethnic Hungarian area of the north, to earn higher wages.

Shortly after they arrived, about 350 residents protested outside the town hall.

The row escalated when the local Roman Catholic priest delivered a petition of 1,800 signatures calling on the bakery owners not to employ foreign workers while local unemployment was “higher than 2%”.’

But hang on…it seems that in fact it is the EU who has caused these problems…not only with its freedom of movement but also another rule….

‘The bakery manager says she looked abroad for staff, partly to bridge a skills gap and partly to meet employee quota conditions for two EU development grants. ‘

So Romanians flee their country to sleep on the streets of London and in all too many cases resorting to crime and have to be replaced by importing foreign workers back home.

Won’t be long before Europe isn’t Europe in culture, ethnicity, religion or politics.

The result will not be the progressive, diverse paradise that the liberals think they are forcing upon us.

It will be more like Somalia. Who will be the peacekeepers, the defenders of those liberal progressive values, when the West is destroyed?

Celebrating curly hair with portraits and life stories

‘A photographic exhibition in London is celebrating women’s textured hair using portraits, while sharing stories of their experiences of growing up and living with curly hair.’

Thank the lord….People have for too long lived with the stigma of curly hair….but now they can break free and win the admiration and respect of the world that they so long have deserved and indeed earned through their lived experience of having curly hair in a world that just didn’t care enough.

    They tell us…

‘The project statement explains: “Coming from a diverse range of countries, backgrounds and ethnicities, women share their realities, and reveal what it means to have textured hair in a society where the standard is otherwise.’

Hmmm…not so much….check the photos…vast, vast majority are black with a few token whiteys.

This is of course more about race than curly hair.

‘”For the past couple of years, I started to see my hair as a clear representation of my womanhood and my blackness.

“It’s a great tool that shapes my identity and gives me great confidence.”‘

Which is why Muslim men force their women to wear hair coverings…to oppress, suppress and repress.

    Any comment on that BBC?

And if hair is so important for all women why is this exhibition so racist in its remit…clearly about ‘celebrating’ Afro hair really more than any other curly type…let alone women’s hair in general. Why not an exhibition about all women’s hair and its social and cultural significance, if any?

The BBC loves a bit of tick-boxing, filling the quotas, getting the diversity ratio spot on and making the BBC representative of the Nation’s ethno-socio-curlihairo makeup [not of course its political balance]. There’s a place for everyone whatever skin colour, gender of choice or background and Britain in the Middle Ages wouldn’t be a truthful historic representation wthout a crowd packed with Black and Muslim faces….the BBC willing, whilst decrying white actors playing black characters, to over-represent the presence of Blacks in Britain in order to one, rub white people’s noses in it, two, to tick those boxes and three, to make Blacks feel more at home here…when they find that Britain was in fact Black historically….the whites presumably colonised and settled in their usual exploitative and imperialist way….Britain was never ‘white’…..the BBC doing a similar job with Australia…apparently ‘Muslim’ sailors landed on the Aussie continent to trade with the locals…why the BBC emphasises ‘Muslim’ is questionable…

‘Recreating Muslim sailors’ first voyages to Australia

The Muslim Makassans traded with the local Yolngu people as early as the 1500s, some experts believe.

Now the sea voyage has been recreated, aiming to help young Muslim Australians feel a better sense of belonging. ‘

Not Indonesians but ‘Muslims’…Aussie Muslims from Africa or wherever having no actual link to Australia historically other than someone with the same religion traded there made to feel Australian because an Indonesian Muslim once traded there. Presumably Christian traders historically dealing with China means China is Christian really.

Anyway, back to the tick-boxing as the BBC pushes this….

Enterprice: ‘The black people I grew up with need to be seen’

‘Writer and actor Kayode Ewumi is back for season two of BBC Three’s comedy series Enterprice, starring as Kazim, the young entrepreneur with big dreams but small pockets.

Kayode says he made a conscious decision to hire more black actors in the second season.

But still, he says, “the show isn’t about race. I don’t think the show is about, ‘Oh, we’re black and we’re disadvantaged’.

“All the black characters in the cast have different class backgrounds and experiences and just live together and get along.”

The UK film industry has been criticised for its lack of diversity, with only 3% of the production and post-production workforce coming from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.’

Hmmm…so it’s OK to pack programmes with just black faces but not white programmes with white faces, even history programmes where none of the characters would have been black but the BBC insists on having 14% black faces to tick the box?

Shouldn’t that work both ways? If programmes are to fill quotas and be representative of the national racial make-up then ‘black’ programmes must also comply and we should have only 14% black faces in there…the rest, whether they are black characters or not, should be played by whites.

While I was studying EU law at the time of Maastricht I recall my learned professor expressing amazement at the enthusiasm with which the UK applied EU law whilst other nations only dig in when it was in their national interest .

There was no view – then – that this would lead to ‘ trouble ‘ but thankfully it did .

If you’re in the crowd at a football match and shouted something like this the BBC would make it frontpage news and denounce from the rafters such appalling racism…..presuming you were a white, working class, ignorant male….or if you’re Trump of course…

However if you’re a supposedly sophisticated Europhile, educated and living on Le Continent….the BBC not so interested….they’d be quite happy to send all those uncle tom, coconut native informers back home…ungrateful bastards who don’t realise how much the Left has done for them! From the Mail…

DAN HODGES: Boris’s enemies pray the corona-crisis will expose his flaws, but in fact it’s turning him into the PM he’s always wanted to be

That’s a perfect analysis of what is happening…and one of those ‘enemies’ is the BBC.

Boris has put on a good show so far and polls showed that the Public thought he was responding well to the coronavirus ‘crisis’.

This is a problem for the BBC which wants to undermine him and hopes he will cock-up so that they can move in for the kill. They tried to claim he was too slow to react when he held the Cobra meeting on Monday…but he was right not to rush in and make ill-informed decisions based upon a situation that was developing rapidly…he waited to see what was going on as far as possible before making public anouncements…whilst behind the scenes the government was making preparations to deal with any situation that could arise.

The BBC made little headway with that line of attack so moved on to another somewhat desperate attempt to undermine Boris and the government [quite extraordinary to do so in any circumstances let alone these].

When Matt Hancock said, in an attempt to sustain confidence and stop panic, that the government was working with supermarkets to ensure food supplies the BBC decided the best course of action was to announce that he was lying and ‘had just made that up’.

The BBC launched a blizzard of attacks throughout the day leading with this as their headline story…but note not once did they give us any response from the government..not once did we hear that the BBC had asked for a comment…it was a totally one-sided story intended to undermine the government. What’s curious is that the next day you just didn’t hear this story on the BBC..from a major story to…nothing….but then its work was done…Boris and Hancock and the Tory government now labelled as liars…..job done BBC. This story will surface again and again in future comment on the coronavirus ‘crisis’ with the ‘fact’ of government lies and incompetence being legend….just look at the comments under the BBC’s Simon Jack’s tweet…..

If anything shows why the BBC should be stripped of its publci service remit this story does…the national broadcaster in a time of crisis responds by trying to undermine the government careless as to whether doing so will cause more panic as the result of its story will be that people might think food will run out.

The BBC has weaponised and politicised this in an attempt to embarrass Boris and to undermine the government’s response to the coronavirus ‘crisis’…..it is not working in the national interest as it recklessly and irresponsibly plays politics rather than tries to maintain confidence and calm.

Sack the BBC and put the licence up for tender.

In February 2006, the MCB urged MPs to vote for the Lords’ amendment to the Terrorism Act 2006, which removed the “glorification of terrorism” clause from the bill.[20] They stated that the bill was perceived as “unfairly targeting Muslims and stifling legitimate debate

OK muzze terrorists are ok with you ?

Between 2001 and 2007, the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) expressed its unwillingness to attend the Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony and associated events.

    Homosexuality
The MCB opposed the repeal of Section 28 on the grounds that presenting “homosexual practice as equivalent to marriage or in a morally neutral way is deeply offensive to Muslims” and that a repeal “undermines the institution of the family and will damage the fabric of our society

Only the BBC would fail to see the irony of needing to go back 25 years to find an example of inspiring Scotch rugby. The ITV commentary on the England Wales game yesterday was by comparison balanced, accurate and informative – but then, they didn’t have the boringly partisan Eddie Butler to help keep things anti-English.

Radio Lincolnshire had a live item where they just drove by a primary school site entirely staffed by males
whilst a teacher waved out the window at them

… Does that sound ridiculous ?
    I would be

What they actually did is for International Women’s Day, LNER chose to exclude male workers so they could have name their service the Flying Scotswoman
Now since the train doesn’t actually stop in Lincolnshire
The reporter was live on a Grantham station platform
and chatted to a female worker,
and then as the train sped through it tooted its horn at them.

Never heard of it before –

“On November 19 International Men’s Day celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. We highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men’s well-being. Our theme is “Making a difference for men and boys.”

      https://internationalmensday.com/

It has a large Wikipedia section –

“According to its creators, International Men’s Day is a time to promote positive aspects of male identity based on the premise that ‘males of all ages respond more energetically to positive role models than they do to negative gender stereotyping’.[11] During past years the method of commemorating International Men’s Day included public seminars, classroom activities at schools, radio and television programs, peaceful displays and marches, debates, panel discussions, award ceremonies, and art displays.[136][12] The manner of observing this annual day is optional, and any appropriate forums can be used. Early pioneers of IMD reminded that the day is not intended to compete against International Women’s Day, but is for the purpose of highlighting men’s experiences.[3][137] In 2009 the following broad objectives were ratified as a basis for all International Men’s Day observations (named The Six Pillars), and are applied equally to men and boys irrespective of their age, ability, social background, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious belief and relationship status:

Another trick now is to coordinate activists and media, which was perfected during the Mason years when his iPhone saw heavy use and he often arrived at a kick off before those kicking off.

I was just working outside with Classic FM in the background, and currently it is again acting as an ex-BBC retirement sinecure.

I have to wonder if Jon Humphrys smiles a little as the Global ‘news’ is read out, where a single person shouting ‘traitor’ at Boris on a visit to Worcester was deemed of significance?

Do the media realise these stitch ups are why they are not served their gotcha opportunities any more?

The Guardian explores people’s thoughts on Europe in a series of videos….

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/series/europeans

‘EUROPEANS: original dramas from across Europe
The Guardian and Headlong theatre company present a foreign language drama series about the continent, from the continent. Europeans features films made in Germany, France, UK, Ireland, Poland, Sweden and Spain, exploring the relationships of member countries to the European Union ‘

The films are all acted but they do reflect real thinking…which is surprising as you’ll see. This first video could be about Brexit…the comments below are somewhat distraught from Remainers who think the Guardian has turned to the Dark Side….and it is surprising to see a film like this when the Guardian has spent three years demonising and mocking people who express such sentiments….

This second video is along similar lines…and again the comments are pretty outraged at the Brexit propaganda…

The third film is about the wonderfulness of open borders…but watch and in reality it al revolves around the ‘driver’s’ experiences trying to drive ‘East’ ie into Russia and the border problems there…..totally different to crossing borders into more normal countries. It is a very shallow film that promotes open borders solely on the basis that it is easier for drivers to cross them….nothing about the real problems that open borders would bring….even with controlled borders we still have problems due to mass immigration…think how much more magnified those would be if it was a free-for-all….no welfare state, no state schools, no NHS…if anyone can come in and use them who pays for it all never mind the break down of trust and cohesion in society?

Darn, I thought, I’ve missed the poetry. But when I switch on R4, I find what’s left of the 4.30 p.m.programme is an endless litany of complaints from ‘Caribbean Africans’ about white ‘racism’ in Britain.
Literally, non-stop. In 101 variations. And I only caught the last ten minutes. I can’t help thinking ‘why don’t they go back, if things are so bad?’ I would.
Then comes the news. Then comes ‘File on 4’, about the death of some rapper into the violent ‘drill music’, and some others from various gangs in Tottenham. People from Wood Green complaining endlessly.
This is supposed to be Sunday afternoon ‘entertainment’. It seems more like non-stop propaganda. R4 have really lost the plot. What are they hoping to achieve?
    With me, the ‘off’ switch.
