Start the Week Thread 3 February 2020

There are reports that the Government is to launch a consultation on decriminalising ‘no TV licence’ – perhaps this week . The Biased Far Left BBC will argue that it will lead to loss of revenue and ability to produce ‘quality ‘ programmes . It would be good if this site could make a contribution to the consultation as a small step to make the BBC British again or end it . Contributions welcome .

What do we make of the virtue-signalling by the Duke of Cambridge at the BAFTAS last night? I found his argument deceitful and unconvincing. I can see why he thought he had to make it, but that’s not honesty. I don’t approve of quotas, no matter how you disguise them.
After Harry and Andrew, I wonder whether I am slowly turning into a Republican?

fakensnewswatcher-The BAFTA’S like the BBC should
have nothing to do with excellency . For a start there should be
no actor or actress award. There should also be diversity
quotas. So for a start just like BBC TV news presenters
there should be at least 75% women.
No films such as 1917 should be allowed to be nominated
because it is nearly all about men. and of course the quotas
should have more than a fair percentage of people from
the film industry that come from LGBT and BAME community.
The importance of how good they are at their profession is
secondary , as it is at the BBC.
As it happens the great South Korean film Parasite won awards.
And Sam Mendes of Caribbean heritage also won a major
award. Joaquin Phoenix is a very fine actor and deserved his award . BUT if he doesn’t think he deserves it ,let him
give it away to somebody he thinks is diverse enough for him.

‘Members of a Labour Party branch in north London want to create a special grouping within Labour for working-class people in order to help the party form a national government.

An invitation to join the project circulated before the Crouch End ward’s regular branch meeting scheduled for tomorrow (4 February) says that although “the middle-classes come across as very nice people” they “don’t seem to realise they often have a condescending attitude towards us [working-class people], talking to us as if we are children”.’

Reminds me of the attitude that our betters adopt towards Leave voters. No wonder he missed it out.

Looking at the BBCs BAFTA fawning news articles today I see they have a Twitter feed @BBCNewsEnts which is the “Official account for the BBC News Entertainment team. Follow us for news updates and red carpet reports.”. After 11 years they have only gained 96,000 followers.

A quick scan over the tweets they have recently made shows the most likes they get are 300 to 400 for the BAFTA tweets. Most are below 10 and the number of comments is often none or just 1. Older tweets have less than 10 likes and 1 comment.

How much of the BBC budget is spent employing staff to maintain the Twitter page which at it’s best is reaching 0.00043% of the population and at worst reaching 0.0000014% ?

‘The psychologist behind the UK’s main deradicalisation programme for terror offenders says it can never be certain that attackers have been “cured”.’

Some chancers and opportunists [Sadiq Khan] being given a platform by the BBC to tell us how Boris has failed to deradicalise the Muslim terrorist. Might suggest the simple answer is the one Douglas Murray proposed…less Islam…

Mr Murray told Nick Ferrari that it’s time people face the facts of terrorism.

“We’ve had 16 years of people saying attacks like Saturday’s have nothing to do with Islam.

“While everyone should remember this is a minority of people who would do such an atrocious act, it nevertheless obviously comes from Islam. It’s a problem that comes from Islam.”

He says that after these attacks, in an effort to improve social inclusion, the country has been conned into accepting more Islam.

“We’ve fallen into the idea that answer is more Islam. This is the argument of the Muslim Brotherhood and other groups.

“‘You don’t like this Islam? Well we’ve got some other Islam, or different Islam.’

And I just say, look, we need a bit less Islam.”

Former chief prosecutor for North West England Nazir Afzal is hitting the studios telling us how he warned Boris Johnson about the need to decradicalise these people but Boris rebuffed him and said there was no money..

Hmmm…this was in June 2016 when Boris was what? The Home Secretary? Prime Minister? Any minister? Er…no…he was an MP…and only made Foreign Secretary in July 2016…that’s Foreign Secretary not Home Secretary…so little to no responsibility for any deradicalisation programme in prisons.

‘Nazir Afzal, the former chief prosecutor for North West England, intervened by revealing his private conversation with Mr Johnson.
He said he had raised the problem of terrorists being released “whilst ostensibly rehabilitated but still radicalised” in many government meetings, before raising it with Mr Johnson in June 2016.

“He asked me what keeps me awake at night and I told him it was this issue,” Mr Afzal said.

“When he wanted to know what to do about it, I told him it was more resources for one-to-one deradicalisation.

“Back then, he hadn’t found the ‘money tree’ so he frustratingly said there was no money.”’

It’s all very simple isn’t it? More money, more programmes, more community involvement, more Islam, more understanding.

Trouble is things aren’t that simple and you can’t really deradicalise these people…at best you might persuade them not to use violence but they will still adhere to the same worldview and whilst not using violence themselves will fuel the anger and discontent by spreading and promoting that Islamic worldview in order to encourage others to do the violence whilst disassociating themselves from it….look at Moazzem Begg…look at Cage and Mend….or indeed the MCB.

Look at the Jan Trust that the BBC was promoting at one stage….their line was that you, Muslims, should be angry about what is happening in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir and Muslim countries around the world but you must not use violence..be angry but not violent…how is that ‘deradicalising’ anyone? It is still promoting the very same worldview, that Islam is under attack and the West is out to destroy Muslim countries[because they’re Muslim], that the ‘Islamists’ promote…oh..as does the BBC of course.

So let’s remind ourselves of what that psycholgist warned us about…

‘The psychologist behind the UK’s main deradicalisation programme for terror offenders says it can never be certain that attackers have been “cured”.’

So that’s the main thing to understand…there are no easy fixes, and no guarantees. You have all these people claiming that more police owuld have stopped such attacks…this guy was being closely followed by a police surveillance team…and yet there was no way they could have stopped that attack…he grabbed a knife and started stabbing…the ony way to stop it is to keep him locked up…and yet we all know the usual suspects will be arguing against that…hooman rights/targeting of a community/demonisation of Muslims.

Boris had long been advocating longer sentences but the BBC remarkably failed to mention that after the last attack on Westminster Bridge…their reports told us that Borris had just made up the policy on the hoof after the attack in a cynical and opportunistic way during the election campaign….the BBC giving lots of airtime to the father of the murdered Jack Merritt as he claimed Boris was exploiting his sons death to make political points when jarringly it was the father himself exploiting his own sons death telling people they must vote for Corbyn and not the ‘opportunistic’ Boris. Quite astonishing.

It was in fact Labour and the BBC that rapidly weaponised the attack…on the same day of the attack we had the BBC debate and it was the BBC that raised the subject of the attack and wanted to know what the panel thought about it in the context of the election.

Anyway…less islam…surely the only real answer.

VD to concerned resident lady “Because… if you’re on the more minor end of terrorist offences…”

What are ‘more minor end’ Jihadi terrorist offences?! Just a little bit of running amok and stabbing people perhaps? Only maiming and scarring, rather than finishing the job? Using a 6 inch veggie knife, rather than a 2 foot long machete?

What does VD think is a ‘more major’ terrorist offence then?

Full on beheadings of British soldiers in the street?
Defenestrating elderly Jewish ladies from third story windows?
Mowing pedestrians down with a speeding van?
Blowing up children at pop concerts?

How should those ‘misdemeanours’ be punished then VD? Serious frowning at and severe telling off, perhaps?

One (of many) big questions not being asked is, if these ‘radicalised’ Muslims are not seeing prison as a punishment (presumably because they see it as a holiday cum training camp, at our expense), then why are more severe punishments not being seriously looked into?

5 minutes of Woman’s Hour this Monday morning and they have on two women, Anne McVoy and a really gobby lady speaking about the Labour leadership. They were both going on about how likely it was likely that Keir Starmer would be the next leader rather than any of the 4 women. Not once was there a suggestion that either he or any of the others might be the best one for the job. It was all about gender. It very soon became all about the ‘off’ switch in my car.

We know the BBC always chooses its guests to fit with the agenda it wants to portray – but it is getting awfully boring to have two guests who agree with each other and both from the Left.

I was thinking about the whole deradicalisation idea and found a flaw, please tell me that other people have come to this conclusion already as it seems so obvious.
Think of your favourite style of music, your favourite singer or band, your most deeply held political belief, your most deeply held social belief, your favourite food, your most hated food, your sexuality. I could go on. Is there ANY way that anyone could “educate” you to turn your back on the political, social or artistic beliefs you have led your life by? Is there any way you would agree to sleep with someone of the opposite sex to which you’ve slept with your whole life? Could anyone convince you to make the food you hate a part of your dally diet AND enjoy doing so?
The answer to all of these is no. My aversion to celery doesn’t rank on the scale of zero to jihadi but at best out of the goodness of my heart I might agree to try eating some covered in a strong dip or foodstuffs and not admit that I feel like throwing up. But I couldn’t keep it up.
    Deradicalisation just can’t work surely.

    • Mrs Kitty says:

Agree with the celery part even seeing it on screen makes me shudder, so I agree totally with your point. The only way you could possibly deradicalise someone is by aversion therapy, maybe electrodes to the genitals and make them read their book the Q out loud at the end of every sentence jolt them. Even doing that I wouldn’t trust them as they can still lie. The only method I would trust is the death penalty which would make them martyrs and hand over the 72 virgins, perhaps hanging and burying them in contaminated ground ( soaked in pig fat) but that would have the human rights lawyers on call faster than you can blink. Dammed if we do and dammed if we don’t.

Back in the day, they would just have been good mates, as indeed most men are, even today, with other men. But on the BBC that sort of thing just isn’t done. Nope, got to be gay.

So in just one Sunday evening in ‘peak’ viewing, the BBC manage to get Islam, gay, and BAME issues front of mind.

It’s strange that his memoirs are published before the formal inquiries about bullying are completed and reported . Personally I think he should be in Belmarsh . Plenty more traitors of a different tint in there …. ( until half their sentences are done of course )…..

      BBC licence Fee de criminalisation

I browsed the 2015 report which the BBC currently depends on regarding compulsory payment of the licence fee with conviction as a penalty .

The QC who wrote the report relied on aged statistics to support the status quo. I think this is the weakness of the ‘proportionality ‘excuse used to keep things as they are .

There do not seem to be detailed statistics on the type of persons caught without a licence by gender age race area and income – which must be available somewhere and certainly in court records for those who land up in court .

Nor is the manual which is mentioned in the report used by TV licence inspectors to act ‘honestly ‘ in their activities . It cannot be proportionate to criminalise people for watching a live TV is these ‘liberal ‘ times .

I reckon there are stronger grounds for change – and it may well have been that when the last report was done ( under PM Cameron – Teresa May Home sec? ) the author might have been given a bit of guidance on the ‘outcome ‘….

BY THE WAY – THOSE STILL PAYING THE TV LICENCE WILL BE PAYING £2.80 more from 1 April 2020 .

      Produce shite.
      Audiences bail.
      Hire more staff.
Steal from TVL to cover pensions.
      More audience bails.
Hire lunatics and let them produce mental output.
      Lose more audience.
Realise ‘too big to fail’ is only option.
Hike licence fee for remaining audience.
Pray Government stupid enough to step in with poll tax.
Forget that we can now vote for who we actual want on what policies.

Getting sick to the back teeth of blacks enjoying the benefits of this country then undertaking racist attacks on whites:

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7960459/Furious-GMB-viewers-blast-arrogant-anti-white-Professor-Black-Studies.html

Kehinde Andrews, who is a professor of Black Studies at Birmingham City University, told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that the British Empire was worse than the Third Reich.

He was appearing on today’s programme debating Labour leader hopeful Lisa Nandy’s proposal to removed the word ‘Empire’ from OBEs.

Viewers branded Professor Andrews a racist after he incensed them with his remarks about Britain, the Empire and ‘whiteness’.

As Piers and Susanna accused him of racist language, he responded: ‘Whiteness is not just for white people there also Asian people black people who purport the psychosis of whiteness.

I invite you to join me in emailing Birmingham University and demand he is sacked for hate crimes and asking why they employ racists

I should add that, since apologies for briefly adding to BQ viewing figures are required, I only watched for a few seconds before changing channels back to my grand-daughter’s preferred ‘Peppa Pig’ to re-establish a more calm and measured form of entertainment.

The parliamentary committees are now holding ministers to account now so maybe they should just sit quietly at the back and make their little notes …..

And on the upside – if they can’t deliver ‘product ‘ they won’t be needed – more redundancies ….

Climate change: Sacked climate chief ‘may sue government’

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-51357200

    By Roger Harrabin
    BBC environment analyst

A model demonstration of using anonymous, faceless “authoritative voices” to flood a junked up piece of journalistic personal opinion to spin a mantle of authority.

I capitalise the many ways he twists and turns below…

“But SOURCES close to Mrs O’Neill say they think she was fired for criticising government failings. THEY SAY the process for the climate meeting was in disarray…”

“The SOURCES said different ministers were jockeying to lead the UN meeting, known as COP26, adding that the Prime Minister was out of touch…”

“BUT I UNDERSTAND that some of the basics still aren’t in place. IT SEEMS the meeting might even be switched away to London from Glasgow because security costs there are much higher…”

“I’M TOLD the original total cost of the conference signed off by Cabinet was £250m. IT IS SAID NOW to be closer to £450m, with no agreed final budget…”

“Scottish government SOURCES insist that the venue is booked and they expect the summit to happen there as planned.

One SOURCE close to Mrs O’Neill said: “Boris doesn’t really know anything about climate change. He pays lip service, but hasn’t got a clue. He promised to chair a Cabinet committee on climate change – but he hasn’t even convened a meeting.”

SOURCES said she derided some of the UK’s most experienced climate diplomats because she thought they were moving too slowly and were tied to old and ineffective methods.

SOME OBSERVERS who oppose the UK’s climate change laws have celebrated her demise, arguing that she echoed environmental groups too closely.

Yes thats our Roger Harribin using “sources” etc. like confetti.

The usual “sources say” attack mode used by lazy journalists, using unsubstantiated anonymous “quotes” to create a story designed to taint a Government they detest.

I think Mr Harribin, one of the more rabid Climate fanatics has more sources than HP.

Sorry Mr Harribin, you have form and we can see right through this devious rubbish!

Maybe HRH can ask his sister in law to make a film since she has acting form …. I don’t half get fed up with this snowflake nonsense and should be surprised that 24 hours after HRH called for more coloured films directed by wimmin the BBC still thinks it’s ‘news ‘ .

“In an interview with Sky News, Ms Khan said she could not believe her “polite and lovely boy” who was “always smiling” could carry out a terror attack.”

Avoid this article if you have high bp. Yep, Al Beeb just can’t help allowing themselves to label scared people as racist, because they are worried about coronavirus. No, we’re all expected to risk getting fatally ill for the good of diversity.
Of course people will overreact, but that is a good thing because it may help to curb the spread. And, if the useless govt and WHO had advised people to stop travel etc earlier, or prevented those from China from entering the UK earlier, then there wouldn’t be such a worry. Of course they won’t want the UK populace to know how many Chinese citizens are living in the country…

The Baftas…#Sowhite….so, so horribly white that the BBC publishes, and gives frontpage billing to, Joaquin Phoenix’s very virtuous speech bemoaning how white the Baftas are…

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-51355206

‘Joaquin Phoenix has received praise for using his Baftas speech to call out “systemic racism” in the film industry.

“I think that we send a very clear message to people of colour that you’re not welcome here,” he said.’

Curiously, with the Baftas being so, so white, the BBC illustrates a Bafta report with this photo….is it CGI?….

    blafta.jpg

And hang on…one question….how do you get nominated for a Bafta?…the BBC doesn’t provide us with an answer it just rolls out the ‘orthodox’ view that the Baftas are racist and Bames aren’t welcome there.

The process…6,500 Bafta members from around the world do the initial vote….

‘The EE British Academy Film Awards recognise excellence and reward talent through a process that includes two rounds of voting by members, specialist chapters and juries.

The winners and nominees in the majority of categories are voted for by 6,500 BAFTA members, who are comprised of industry professionals and creatives around the world. Members vote to decide the nominations from hundreds of films in round one, then vote for the winner in round two. ‘

….but what do they vote on?…who decides which films get put up for nomination?….er…not Bafta…it’s mainly the film-makerss themselves….

    Click to access ee_british_academy_film_awards_1920_-_rules_and_guidelines_-_feature_categories_october_2019.pdf

    ‘Who can enter a film?
A film may be entered by its producer or UK distributor or a representative thereof (‘entrant’). Others may suggest films for entry by emailing awards@bafta.org; the film’s distributor or producer will be asked to provide all necessary information to complete the entry if they wish.’

So….one….if ‘Bame’ film-makers don’t nominate their own films they won’t be in the running…you’ve got to be in to win.

Two…the vote is by 6,500 Bafta members from around the world….how many Bame and or female? Lots I imagine….for instance..head of Bafta in Los Angeles…heart of Hollywood…

‘Kathryn Ann Busby is an American film executive who has been senior vice president of development at Sony Pictures Television Networks, and in January 2020 was named as executive vice president of TriStar Television, a division of SPT.’

    She’s so, so white…and male…..

The BBC isn’t interested in the truth just in peddling lies and half-truths in order to futher its own race agenda….for instance you have to ask why this is still on Youtube when it is an outrageous lie and slander…

This shows the disconnect between common sense and the Snowflake BBC propaganda machine which unfortunately has already included a future king who obviously isn’t the sharpest tool in the box .

The common sense is that merit should win over both gender and skin colour . So let’s commission some embarrassingly bad films done by black crews with black actors for white tickbox paying audiences ….. what nonsense .

But I bet BBC Films is busily searching for duff scripts from the ‘ community ‘. Maybe I could get a few bob out of them by describing my struggle as a whitee man struggling with my inner black woman . But I think that might have been done ?
