Midweek Thread 11 September 2019

Another anniversary of that World Changing day.RIP
Meanwhile it’s 33 days until Parliament returns and 51 days until the UK leaves the EU .

Will the biased Far Left BBC continue to fight brexit ? will it go into collective mourning if it looks like we are really going ? Will more so called journalists lose the plot ?

I think they used to call him ‘windy ‘ when he was in the Cabinet . Somethings don’t change. I suppose with his heritage he’d prefer the Germans to have the seat . The UN, of course , is getting to be due for a bit of a shake is POTUS gets a second term .

    • Rob in Cheshire says:

Waldegrave is the very walking, talking definition of a left wing, wet, Conservative in name only.

He is typical of the so-called Conservatives of the 1960s and 1970s who thought Britain was finished and that the only way forward was to manage its inevitable decline. That is why these CINOs were all in favour of joining the EEC. They had no faith in Britain. They still have no faith in Britain.

Yes, Britain has a permanent place on the Security Council because in 1945 we were a superpower and had just won World War II. Why France has a place is much more of a mystery. We are still a major world power and leading economy. The permanent place on the SC gives us influence and prestige. Only a spineless defeatist idiot savant such as William Waldegrave would even consider giving it up. But then he has no faith in Britain. He is sadly typical of the sort of Gauke, Grieve or Hammond who refuse to listen to the British people or believe that Britain is a great nation with a valuable voice in the world.

Why can’t these losers just emigrate to Luxemburg and drink themselves to death with Jean-Claude Juncker? No-one will ever miss them, or even notice they have gone.

  2. G says:

The Trotskyist Tony Bliar’s Institute for Global Change exhibiting normal communist aspirations in their report: ‘Designating Hate: New Policy Responses to Stop Hate Crime’.
Bliars report seeks to tackle “Hate Groups” (such as, ‘For Britain’ et al.). Including all, “….groups that spread hate and division, but do not advocate violence”.
If Trotsky Bliar has his way, it will be the end of this site.
Soros will be proud along with his puppets in Europe and the UK.
    ‘Our Tone’s’ actual report:
The efforts all round to halt free speech so far as immigration and so-called ‘refugees’ is concerned, the Globalist/Marxists/Trotskyists are clearly living in constant fear that the ‘Populists’, once they are the overwhelming established driving force, will turn on such people and hastily send them back to whence they came from thus saving on State Benefits, no more housing shortages, no more rustling of thousands of sheep in the Midlands, no more difficulties in obtaining doctors/hospital appointments, no more terrorism,(where do I stop….?) but finally, a reduction in income tax as a result of demands on the State falling dramatically.

    • G says:

A ‘Hate Group’ Bliar defines as one: “Spreading intolerance and antipathy towards people of a different race, religion, gender or nationality, specifically because of these characteristics; Aligning with extremist ideologies… though not inciting violence; Committing hate crimes or inspiring others to do so via hate speech; Disproportionately blaming specific groups (based on religion, race, gender or nationality) for broader societal issues”.

  3. cromwell says:

Just heard on Katie Hopkins Twitter that she has seen Tommy Robinson and had a conversation with governor of Belmarsh and Tommy is being released over the weekend. He will not come out of normal door but will be released inside the prison gates and driven away from there. They are so frightened that his supporters will turn up to welcome him back. I suppose they don’t want our peaceful, welcoming Antifa to turn up. Anyway welcome back to the mad house that is Britain Tommy and stay safe.

    • Fedup2 says:

Thanks for the update . It’s far better for TR to be released without having to engage vermin from the BBC or Sky . The state still has an opportunity to suicide him before them though .

The direction might not be there because of the lack of a coherent government. And Rory Stewart isn’t the prison minister …

    • Dystopian says:

Lets hope that they aren’t driving him home via any French motorway tunnels.

  4. Beltane says:

Yesterday, quite rightly, I was accused of pessimism.
Ten minutes ago I turned the box on – maybe I’m a masochist too – to find the excited and high pitched tones of Norman Smith busily digging more negativity and faux impartiality out from ex-conservative arch remainer David Gauke.
    DAVID GAUKE for Christ’s sake!
I suppose I should be grateful it wasn’t Soubry – though no doubt she will be on later.

  5. Denton says:

Buried in the Northern Ireland news section on the BBC website.

“A judge at the High Court in Belfast has dismissed a legal challenge against a no-deal Brexit.”

“the judge said the main aspects of the case were “inherently and unmistakeably political”.”

    • Doobster78 says:

“the judge said the main aspects of the case were “inherently and unmistakeably political”.”

Bang on. Bang on. Even fatty Adam Boulton said the same. It aint for the courts this one ….but Gina Miller must have had some cash burning a hole in her pocket, and we know she loves the courts !!

Must have a loyalty card …. fund 5 cases, get the 6th one free !!!

  6. JimS says:

A sensible comment from a judge in Northern Ireland:

“Within the world of politics the well-recognised phenomena of claim and counterclaim, assertion and counter-assertion, allegation and denial, blow and counter-blow, alteration and modification of government policy, public statements, unpublished deliberations, posturing, strategy and tactics are the very essence of what is both countenanced and permitted in a democratic society.”

  7. G says:

Peter Whittle interviews Peter Hitchins. Well worth a watch if you have time.

    • Doublethinker says:

The more you think about what Hitchins says the more you realise that he is right. The quiet and unseen revolution was started by Blair and has resulted in the liberal left Globalists taking control of all of our institutions . Blair’s New Labour types have become the establishment. It allows them to trample over the law if they choose, eg imprisoning Tommy R , or putting thoroughly un British laws on the books eg Hate Speech laws which requires only that someone feels upset , no evidence required. Education, BBC , police, Armed Forces have all gone the same way. So powerful is this new liberal left establishment that many Tories are clamouring to join it! Unless and until they are removed Britain will continue in terminal decline.

    • Pat..original says:

G – Thank you for this link. I particularly liked his view of the BBC being unwatchable for anyone with any intelligence and fortunately for them there are not many around any more – 12.50 onwards. Brilliant.

  8. Denton says:

In case project fear and operation yellow hammer are giving you doubts-

The EU has revealed its true nature: a federalist monster that will not stop until nations are abolished

At the entrance to the Visitors Centre of the European Parliament, there is a plaque with these words:
“National sovereignty is the root cause of the most crying evils of our times….The only final remedy for this evil is the federal union of the peoples.”

    • Luckyharry69 says:

A Federal Union of European States with its own ‘national sovereignty’?…The United States of Europe?….

you couldnt make it up really!!……

and the Scots want to be ‘independent’ within a European United States?…

  9. MarkyMark says:

“I do not believe that the solution to our problem is simply to elect the right people. (BORIS)

The important thing is to establish a political climate of opinion which will make it politically profitable for the wrong people (BORIS) to do the right thing (BREXIT).

Unless it is politically profitable for the wrong people (BORIS) to do the right thing (BREXIT), the right people will not do the right thing either, or it they try, they will shortly be out of office.”

    ― Milton Friedman

  10. Roland Deschain says:

    Whatever can they be suggesting?

Roman skeletons found holding hands were men

    • Doobster78 says:

      Probably Remainers !!! LOL

    • Beltane says:

Doesn’t do to suggest such a thing, but might they have been buried alive? Before the decline and fall, such a scenario might well have been entirely possible.
During and after, it may well have been a contributory factor.
And to forestall Maxi, I speak of historical fact, not modern prejudice.

    • Dystopian says:

Could have been brothers in arms.

    • Kaiser says:

how could we possibly know they are “male” ??

this article seems a bit trans-phobic to me

  11. Beltane says:

To quote Martin Luther King: ‘I have dream’.
I have a scandalous and totally illegal dream of swinging a baseball bat with generous yet not lethal force across the mouth of that mentally challenged and bovine idiot who is allowed – against I feel sure of all local and parliamentary bye-laws – to intrude his stupid and un-democratic opinions into each and every televised broadcast with the full and enthusiastic complicity of our noble BBC, among other such mendacious organisations.

  12. JimS says:

Max Hastings is on Jeremy Vine to plug his latest book about the ‘Dambusters’ raid.

He tells us that the message he wants to put out that war isn’t fun. That would seem to go against the experience of many that have served in the armed forces over centuries. Call it esprit de corps, strength through adversity, whatever. For good or bad I think it is built into us, particularly if you are a man.

    • Up2snuff says:

Jim, war is hell for the civilians.

Think you are right; for the fighters there is danger, excitement, brotherhood and the chance of advancement and gain.

The civilians pay for it; for them it’s hell.

    • Halifax says:

Seen Max on the QM2 doing lectures about Falklands and Churchil. I love my history but he was extremely boring and up himself.

  13. Terminal Moraine says:

Recent NSPCC research shows grooming crimes up by a third in the last year, following FOI requests to police. Yorkshire cases up by 59%.

The BBC care deeply about Brexit-voting, carbon-emitting adults ruining kids’ lives so no doubt they’ll be all over this news. Nothing on the website so far, but surely any minute now…

    • StewGreen says:

@TM be careful of metro liberal word games
Here they use the word “grooming” to mean INLINE befriending if children

Their other use of the word is to mean “groom/rape/trade”

We should not play their game if equating the two
Which thus plays down what happened in those towns.

  14. G says:

The Left’s, ‘Dark Money’ & ‘Arabella’.
News to me but not unexpected. But, pray, where does the Left’s Dark Money come from principally?
Anybody, please anybody that doesn’t immediately cite one name?
Anybody else other than that one name? They are out there.
‘Soros’, there, I’ve said it, is principal contributor. No surprises there.
Further fuel to fire the boilers of the Left’s totalitarian Marxist ideology.
You have to read this report and conclude the magnitude of the task of trying to roll back how far undercover communism has advanced surreptitiously over the decades.
A clue to the battle the POTUS is waging against, ‘The Swamp’.

  15. G.W.F. says:

If this argument is correct, Leavers can get around the Surrender Act.
Which is why Remainers urgently need to reverse the prorogation of Parliament in order to tighten the Act up.
Which is why pressure will be put on the so very impartial judges on the Supreme Court

  16. Dover Sentry says:

The Euro has fallen sharply against the pound as a result of a sweeping host of measures from the European Central Bank aimed at stimulating the ailing Eurozone economy.

The bank today announced a 10 bps rate cut, aggressive forward guidance, and open ended quantitative easing at €20 billion every month.

With panicky measures like this, the last thing the Eurozone needs now is a No Deal Brexit…

    • Beltane says:

That’s odd. According to the BBC the pound is down 0.11 against the euro at 3.16pm, but maybe they use figures from Hammond’s direct-line laptop.

  17. Dover Sentry says:

    BBC Online News:

“”Eurozone gets fresh help to bolster flagging growth””

“”The moves come as the ECB combats an economic slowdown.””

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

    • cromwell says:

Dover.. and the stupid remoaners think being tied to this bunch is the best we can do for our country. Idiots.

  18. Mackers says:

The game seems to be finally up of liberal globalists within the conservatives and labour secretly running our country for many years.Just look at that list of 22 mp’s nearly all were former ministers, and how did someone like bercow get into the conservative party. That broad church needs and is at last narrowing.Hallelujah.

  19. G.W.F. says:

Boris backs the judges, fails to support his government member who dared to say that some people doubt their impartiality.
The judiciary is the best in the world, widely admired, separation of powers, blah blah..
Ask Tommy Robinson when he comes out this weekend.

Forget an election pact with the Brexit Party and Boris’s Tories. Let the people decide without restricting their choice, because without a chance to vote for the B. Party they will only have Treezer Part Two.
Don’t fear splitting the vote, if people want Brexit, they know where to vote.

The Tories with Boris are sinking and Boris is caving in to the Establishment.

    • Doublethinker says:

Sadly I agree with everything you say. Boris has caved to the Tory grandees who seem oblivious to the extinction which awaits them.

      • Beltane says:

To repeat from an earlier page, with the Lib-Dems level pegging with Labour and with Green, SNP and Plaid co-operation, the inevitability of a Lab-Lib coalition is frightening.

        • Burgsey says:

Beltane, that is happening now and the indication is that it could continue for some time now they have control. My other Plan B (well its actually Plan G2) is Boris does resign, let Jezza and co form an emergency government of national b*****ks and then just wait. By Xmas, they will be fighting each other and a GE will happen.

I still like my Plan H which is to by the Hungarian PM lots of gifts before the EU summit.

What about Plan C which I haven’t had an answer for. As a voting member of the EU, could we, the UK, veto extending Article 50 when it gets to the summit in October? I assume this is a non-starter, but would like confirmation.

    • Emmanuel Goldstein says:

      Kwasi Kwartang is correct.

      We don’t trust the judges.

We think they are biased against Brexit.

You tv presenters, pretending to be shocked, can put your ‘I don’t believe it’ face on but we the people think our judges are crap.

3 leaver judges found proroguation legal.
3 jock remainer judges found prorogation illegal.

Finest minds “my a**e” as Jim Royle might say.

    • Burgsey says:

G.W.F. I can only hope that Plan B will be implemented shortly. What has happened over the last couple of weeks would not be wholly unexpected, particularly with the vote in Parliament. I do hope Mr Cummings has a “cunning plan” or is just going to try and “Alistair Campbell” his way through it. The latter strategy will not work in the current situation.

Personally I would be sending lots of gifts to the Hungarian PM!!(using the remainer MP method of hiding how they got reimbursed by the EU).

    • Mackers says:

This is how politics works and leaders have to make decisions that bring as many people together as possible, they also play the long game .They may and will have sympathies for many who challenge the injustices of this country(world),but in the long game you weigh the benefits and the risks for the greater good.

  20. StewGreen says:

“Promoted tweet” that comes up when I search on “BBCnews NSPCC”
It shows a typical trouble maker – old white women ?

    • Halifax says:

      Is it Anne Widecombe?

    • vesnadog says:

Erected on all refugee boats in the channel for refugees to read while scoffing their fish and chips – Cod – not some fake tasteless import.

    • vlad says:

Black, tick. Female, tick. Useless, tick. All that’s missing is paraplegic like Joe in Family Guy.

She’ll be suing for racial discrimination in no time.

  21. Emmanuel Goldstein says:

Remainer after remainer, almost on a loop, are appearing on tv telling us we must obey the law.

    Am I right or wrong.
According to the law we are leaving on October 31
    Voted for and passed.
    It’s the law.
If Boris does nothing this will still be the law.

    Is this correct.

    • Burgsey says:

I believe not if the Benn Bill is watertight, as this can veto the 31st deadline and officially kick the can, subject to EU agreement, which is a given, as they continue to get £1bn a month just for extending!

  22. Cassandra says:

The BBC completely refutes that it is broadcasting Fake News about Prime Minister Johnson and insists it is entirely objective and impartial with regard to him and his government.
News Alert: The BBC has learned that…

  23. Tabs says:

FGM clinics open across England to support victims

“Clinics open across England”, nah not really just in those high populated Muslim areas.

Quote: The illegal practice of FGM is carried out for cultural and religious reasons in certain communities.
That’s enough details for me, thanks BBC!

Not one mention of the word ‘Islam’ or ‘Muslim’ anywhere in the article.

  24. taffman says:

“The EU has said it is willing to revisit the proposal of a Northern Ireland-only backstop to break the Brexit deadlock.”
Looks like Boris is going for Mrs Chamberlain’s deal less the Backstop ? – A Brino !
Its The Brexit Party for me.

  25. Sir_Arthur_Strebe-Grebling says:

The bBBC is loving it. Every few minutes a ‘news’ reader gets to say ‘Prime Minister lied to the Queen’ with a tiny ‘denies’ half-hidden in the sentence.

  26. G.W.F. says:

This could be fake news, but if Boris has offered to reinstate the rebels then it would seem that the Conservative Party comes before Brexit.

    The BBC will be ecstatic.

‘According to The Telegraph, Cabinet ministers Matt Hancock, Michael Gove and Sajid Javid have all urged the Prime Minister to reestablish ties with some of the MPs removed in the cull, which came after the rebels backed legislation aimed at stopping a no-deal Brexit.
Leader of the House Jacob Rees-Mogg and Justice Secretary Robert Buckland are also reported to be keen to allow some rebels back into the party provided they back the Government.’

  27. taffman says:

“Eurozone gets fresh help to bolster flagging growth”
“The eurozone’s biggest economy, Germany, is widely thought to be on the brink of recession.”
“widely thought” probably means – It Is .

It would be interesting to have sight of the EU’s version of ‘Operation Yellowhammer’. That would be a Mega Project Fear. They would be keeping that one under wraps unless of course, it would be ‘leaked’ by some of The Brexit Party’s EU MPs when they take up in their new seats .
Keep an eye on the EU’s economy …………………………

  28. Emmanuel Goldstein says:

Is it true that using a ‘worst case scenario’ for if we stay in the eu that one of the many terrible predictions is we have to heavily tax the UK population to have a £500 billion fund to hand out to failing eu Countries in the coming years.
Will HM Forces still have the same pension rights if they are handed over to the eu to be their Army, Navy and Air Force.

I’d like to see the ‘worst case scenario’ documents that surely must have been written alongside the WCS if we leave.

Any responsible government would have done this …….

Also, in this age of wanting everything published and out in the open, what about the rest of the WA papers, not just the bit about Northern Ireland.

    • Guest Who says:

The WCS thing is ace. It has attracted all the usual bottom feeders.

Nice to see that Newsnight training did not go to waste.

    • G.W.F. says:

WCS if we stay in – thousands of our young folk swept into a war under EU leadership. Remain supporting students avoid s conscription with help from Mumsie and Daddy.

    • Burgsey says:

…perhaps our friends in The Brexit Party could do this. Its a good idea to flag up the worst case scenarios if we stay in the EU!

  29. Halifax says:

Just settling down to Watch a Bridge to Far on the beeb. It’s the 75th aniversory so it’s going to be on………Isn’t it?……..can’t seem to find it …..That’s strange isn’t it.

  30. taffman says:

“Channel migrants: Home secretary declares major incident”
Well there has been a lot more “major incidents” since he said that last December .
What have they done about it ?
While genuine asylum applicants have a long wait to prove that they are bona-fide, criminals get in quick.
More will come because the messages going to Europe is ‘its easy to get in ‘.
How many have been sent back for breaking the law ?

  31. Dystopian says:

Wow. Bobby on Eastenders now on BBC1, repeating “Allahu Akbaar” over and over. He seems troubled.
Is he about to commit an atrocity?
I actually find this repulsive and offensive.
It’s an insult to the memory of all those lives destroyed by atrocities carried out in the name of Islam, by those who shout out that exact phrase before murdering innocent people.
    The BBC are a disgrace.

    • theleftwilleatitself says:

Boris Johnson: People’s PMQ’s on YouTube is a good watch if you have the time or inclination.
It cuts out the middle man, or woman, or should that be….? 🤔
      Oh I give up!
      Al beeb basically 👍

    • StewGreen says:

Does Lee Rigby’s mother watch EastEnders ?

    • Lefty Wright says:

Speaking as someone who hasn’t ingested the cancerous output of our so called national broadcasting service for a long time I would suggest that your choice of the adjective “disgrace” when referring to this particularly pernicious disease is quite an under statement.
Next year,as I understand it I will be obliged to pay for an illness that I do not currently suffer from. I ask you, Is this justice??
No doubt a Scottish judge will answer “yes”. I will reply “Fcuk off!!

  32. Doobster78 says:

Oh look, another day, another project fear !!! And, amazingly, it involves the word COULD again !!!!!!

But then again, it COULD be that they won’t be disrupted !!!

    • vesnadog says:

” And, amazingly, it involves the word COULD again !!!!!! ”

Its the same with the boffins claiming there “could” be water on a planet a few yards away from earth when incredibly those same boffins don’t even know if there’s water on mars or the moon 100s of light years away?

  33. StewGreen says:

I’m out of the BBC loop as I am still at the science festival in Coventry.
As ever some old time scientists are great
.but the Business School ones are often seeming like Double Glazing Salesmen as they give their talks pushing Global Warming and Electric Cars as a magic solutions.
They make bold assertions like calling opposing points a “myth”, without providing any evidence that they are.

There was one African chap pushing the importance of villagers animal farming
which upsets the metroliberals view of the universe that everyone must become vegetarian.
Still I avoild most of the right-on talks like Global Warming, women in science, Jack Munroe , Konnie Huq, etc
cos it’ll be a cult like atmosphere and they wouldn’t be reached by criticism.

    • Lefty Wright says:

We are told by the “EXPERTS” that the planet Earth has been around for billions of years, during which time – “IT IS THOUGHT” – by “EXPERTS” that every conceivable catastrophe has occurred.
We are now told by the “EXPERTS” in no uncertain terms, that because of human activities the planet is doomed.
Well yes, OK, maybe and maybe not.
However, I DO wonder whether the effects of the relatively recent practice of REMOVING from the earth on such an immense scale of, for instance, oil and gas as opposed to the BURNING of these fuels, can affect what occurs under our feet.
For me, the “EXPERTS” will need to PROVE beyond reasonable doubt that these practices WILL destroy the planet, otherwise I will install that extra radiator needed, before the “EXPERT” predicted big freeze sets in, to keep my ancient bones from completely ossifying.

  34. Celtic_Mist says:

The BBC have it online and then LK tweeted it.

Brexit: Is Boris Johnson profiting from dividing?

LK didn’t say what she meant by profit and many of the 300 or so replies took it to mean that Boris would gain financially – a conspiracy theory!

    • StewGreen says:

I’ve been to Fiji, it’s a long flight.
I’ve been in a tribal village drinking kava with the tribe.
For me one or two cups is enough, it’s like drinking coffee
They often drank 30 cups and they were off their heads
cos at those strengths it is a drug.

      • Payne by name says:

And when the Beeb is reporting on this tiny island and it’s desire to make it big, does it bother to consider whether it will be able to sell it’s product in Europe or will the crippling EU protectionist tariffs prevent it from doing so?

Maybe under WTO it could make it big in a free and independent UK.

    BBC Radio 4

This is a really gripping listen – with a cast of top UK journos: Mark Mardell, Robert Peston, Julia Hartley-Brewer, James Harding, Helen Lewis and Gavin Haynes.

Impartial journalism in a polarised world.

Kind of lost me at Mark Mardell being a top journo.

Week in week out, the bBBC wheel out a panel of (mostly) remainers who then proceed to show themselves up as hysterical fools. This can only serve to drive folk away.

Quite why that idiot Femi gets everywhere heaven knows.

    BBC Radio 4

“When it’s a good quality, comprehensive programme provided by trained educators, it results in young people choosing to have sex for the first time when they’re older, they have less sexual partners and are more likely to use contraception.”

Meanwhile the Media Show has Mark Mardell on as a ‘top journalist’.

Have to give them credit for trying to tell it often enough.

  41. Guest Who says:

    OT, but… gosh.

Her big event is looming. Expect more of stuff like this from the national lunatic asylum.

  42. BRISSLES says:

Nice to see the BBC reporting on the Duchess of Sussex on her soap box rabbiting on about ’empowering women’. Something about a charity helping to dress women for job interviews.

Somebody should tell the Duchess and the BBC, that every High Street in the country is packed out with Charity shops which most women scour for clothes to wear, furnish their homes, toys for the kids, and books to read, let alone find something to wear for an interview.

We have shops like Primark, Matalan and Peacocks, where you can get kitted out for under £25, so there’s something seriously wrong if a woman cant put together a decent outfit from their Jobseekers Allowance !

Of course it was launched in London, hardly the impoverished North of England. But nice to see the D of S and her celebrity mates have a project that makes them feel good about themselves.

  43. Annunaki says:

First, ‘Boris Johnson INSISTS that he DIDN’T LIE to The Queen, when he asked for prorogation.

Hmph – why make it sound like he is on the back foot? The Scottish judges have made one comment, there will be others next week, so why not just say ‘The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson confirms that all legal representation was included in the request for prorogation’? There, bbbc, it wasn’t difficult was it, you didn’t need to mention ‘lying’, or ‘insisting’, both words which have connotations of deceit written in.

Then, to add more bile to the cold cup of sick, they have a clip of the deranged, toxic midget (there I’ve done it, but for me this time), Bercow with some hackneyed public bar gormless ‘quote’, meant to misinform through ignorance.

The rest of the ‘news’ was dire and worthless twaddle.

They really should try to be fairer now. The presenters – apart from Dotun, are pretty dour, dull, and uninteresting. Perhaps the bbbc shove them on to fill in the few hours because most people are asleep (or awake in Kent, or working etc etc).

48 days to Brexit now – suck it up bbbc, get ready for total failure of your attempts to misinform!

    Dotun, have a Knighthood!

Bercow pledges ‘creativity’ to stop no-deal

John Bercow might be leaving his role as Commons Speaker but he’s not going quietly. He says “creativity” will be used in Parliament to prevent any attempt by Boris Johnson to ignore a law designed to stop a no-deal Brexit. The prime minister says he would rather be “dead in a ditch” than ask the EU to delay the UK’s withdrawal from the bloc beyond 31 October, as required by the law which was forced through by backbenchers. But Mr Bercow used a lecture in London to say Parliament would act “forcefully” against any attempt to avoid obeying the law.

If, like MPs, you’re finding it hard to talk about Brexit without getting into a row, the BBC has gleaned some tips on how to “respectfully disagree”.

The BBC clearly knows impartiality when they see it.

I wonder how many of the ‘tips’ include ‘how to stop Brexit, creatively’?

Ok, trivial, but that means it qualifies as BBC ‘analysis’:

Downton Abbey the film: 14 things you need to know

It’s been talked about for years and now, finally, Julian Fellowes’ hit ITV period drama is transferring to the big screen. All your favourite characters have returned – get ready for those famous Dame Maggie one-liners – along with a few high-profile new faces, including Imelda Staunton and Killing Eve’s David Haig.

Everyone’s feeling just a teensy bit nervous about the release. Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary, says her first thought about being on the big screen was: “Our faces are going to be much bigger! It’s an extension of the show, just turned up a notch.”

Always love ‘what you need to know’ claims.

And Michelle… you’ll be fine if everyone sits at the back. HD on the 65” LED at home though… omg.

I also include this one as it is a classic ‘PR as News’ effort from the keyboard of an idiot civil service PR tool via a credulous BBC tool:

Nursery abuser to be banned from wide area

When Plymouth nursery worker Vanessa George was sentenced for sexually abusing children in her care in 2009, it emerged she had taken up to eight photographs a day before swapping the images over the internet. After a decade in prison, she has been judged eligible for parole. But the Probation Service says it’s effectively banning her from the West Country by using strict licence conditions with an unusually large “exclusion zone”. George will “never be allowed to work with children again”, adds chief probation officer Sonia Crozier.

They did not even put the nonsensical ‘wide area’ in bbc quotes.

The BBC R4 this morning is loving John Bercow speech and still asking almost everyone about operation yellow hammer trying to get delays….but few are biting..they have the measure of the BBC
but now banging on about the EU nationals registration scheme- how bad it is…
Funny that – the news yesterday said 1.5 million had been accepted and 300,000 applied in August alone…for a bad system that sound like a pretty good one if it can cope with this number of registrations.
Why do the BBC always focus on the negative?

Now got a retiring Prof chap talking about research funding – the BBC are pushing how bad it will be if we leave EU…he says yes it is ‘bit of a disruption’ but think long term…not what she wanted to hear..
My BBC viewing and listening has virtually ceased and feel so much better for it – but think I have to experience some to keep up my realisation of how crap it is..

It’s called ‘Critical Theory’ and it’s a main plank of Marxism.

  50. Dover Sentry says:

    BBC Online News:

“”Brexit: John Bercow pledges ‘creativity’ to stop no-deal””

“”The Commons Speaker also said in a speech that the only possible Brexit was one backed by MPs.””

“The only form of Brexit which we will have, whenever that might be, will be a Brexit that the House of Commons has explicitly endorsed,” he said.””

“Surely, in 2019, in modern Britain, in a parliamentary democracy, we – parliamentarians, legislators – cannot in all conscience be conducting a debate as to whether adherence to the law is or isn’t required.”

“”He called it “astonishing” that “anyone has even entertained the notion”.””

He’s certainly out of the closet now. Surely he can now be deposed for bias, along with the BBC?
