    BBC Radio 4, PM
The reporter Emma Jane Kirby tells the listener with a sultry voice that “For years the port of Lampedusa has been welcoming migrants.”

    Welcoming!!!

Now I don’t recall that Evan Davis or Emma Jane Kirby herself informing the listener that she is so biased, she has written a novella called, ‘The Optician of Lampedusa’ In which she attempts to create a sympathetic picture of the invaders, sorry, migrants who are ‘rescued’ and taken to Lampedusa.

I always thought reporters had to write objective and unbiased reports giving all the facts including the negative effects the ‘migrants’ are having on the lives of the people who live on Lampedusa in terms of the violence, crime, filth, disease and gratuitous vandalism they bring with them.

This review from Amazon didn’t pull any punches:

“…there was no clear story arc, the characters felt two-dimensional, and it felt like a reportage of an interview, constrained by the words said rather than freely imagined.
“In other words, it read like a very long emotionally-manipulative newspaper article, but without the perspective of statistics – not quite journalism and definitely not quite a novel.
    Not recommended.”

Is it ethical to have a reporter presenting such a biased, subjective and unbalanced report when she has made the migrants the protagonists in a novella she has written promoting them?
The report this evening was totally misleading and the facts were manipulated to support the subjective views of the reporter.

    This can’t be right.

Pretty insulting for someone who presumably has a UK passport to go on about illegals breaking into someone else’s country .

I really hope that the Italians stand firm – there was loose talk about pulling Italy out of the Euro but that was just wishful thinking …

Forgive me for saying this – but there is currently one quality series on Radio Four . It is the excellent Peter Hennessy ( a neighbour of mine but not known to me ) doing weekly 43 minute interviews of leading former politicians – the hideous Patton was last week and the reflective Norman Lamont this week . His views on the non future of the EU – and our need not to be attached to the poisonous growth were very reassuring …

  4. Ed Hitter says:

The BBC’s news coverage of Boris’s raft of initiatives around law and order has been typically sceptical, sneering and biased.
What you’d expect from a news report is factual detail about what is being proposed, with some context, quotes from those at the centre of policy and some balancing comments from others who may disagree or have reservations.
What we got was a typical BBC hit job – almost the entire film segment was a running commentary by the BBC’s supercilious home editor Mark Easton. It was certainly not factual “reporting”.
Having very briefly summarised Boris’s plans, a rather animated Easton was suddenly rapier like with his put downs.
He opined: “What’s notable in the Prime Minister’s rhetoric, though, is the absence of evidence, of detail,,,,..”
So there we have it: according to Easton this important policy drive can simply be dismissed as “rhetoric”, being offered to us with no supporting “evidence”. This was pure editorialising spin.
It was then back to the studio, and who should pop up again but the editor of misinformation Mr Easton, offered yet another platform to pour his scorn on the plans. His entire tone was that of the smug, sneering overpaid Beeboid elite – think Maitlis.
The BBC would do well to recognise that Boris’s crime crackdown will be welcomed by the vast majority in this country – but it doesn’t even try to reflect the concerns of its viewers in its rush to push its woke, anti-Tory, blatantly biased agenda.

General musings on the Caroline Lucashite of today.

The real Marxists in the Labour Party want Brexit because in their long-term eyes, the self-determination that comes with Brexit is the way to achieve true socialism, via an ‘Anyone but the Tories’ general election result. Why Owen Jones wants a second referendum really beats me.
The EU with its cosseted, bloated, unaccountable bureaucracy is statist socialist but carries with it enough centralised inertia to prevent a real Marxist government from doing too much damage.
The real second referenda people are therefore the social democrats (Lib Dem, centre right Labour, SNP, left Tories) whose basic view is statist but to accept through gritted teeth behind closed doors that market capitalism basically works and creates wealth but then tax and spend to give themselves a clear conscience.
On this thesis I am a little surprised that Lucas isn’t a Brexiteer but maybe the Green agenda complicates things.

    • Fedup2 says:

      Stuff
My view is that the EU is a socialist enterprise – hence the likes of the BBC and the rest of the Far Left support it . Marxists see dissenters as Right or in their terms Far Right . So a second referendum – in their eyes – will lead to a ‘ remain ‘ majority – viewing the first referendum as a ‘blip’ .

The Far Left also see the EU as s mechanism to move Europe away from the Capitalist USA – such as attempts to destroy the NATO defence pact and allow Russia to get its buffer states back .

Their biggest fear is that the UK survives Brexit – and points the way to other nations to do the same .

Conversely if we are to face a hostile EU post Brexit ( which is what I think will happen ) the test will be how we respond . At least we will have a ‘ friendly ‘
American President for a year and hopefully 5 years .
It’s difficult to divorce ones’ personal position from that of the nation but the last three years has always been about the economy and project Fear shortages – led by the Traitor BBC – but there is more to it that the economy – it’s about National Identity and self determination and accountability –

Which , on three counts , the EU is against .

      80 days to go .

Less of an old fashioned socialist than a corporate state in the making. Designed to ensure German industrial domination of Europe via a fake exchange rate paid for by the poorer countries stupid enough to fall for it. The reality is that Germany will continue to amass the wealth of Europe and profit from a currency that should never have been considered for generations.
Give it time and the inherent contradictions in the euro will destroy it.

We pay the royal family to represent Britain, not to lecture us on what to think. Prince Harry is a nice lad, but after an education at Eton he managed to scrape two A Levels. I can think for myself, I don’t need any help from him.

RiC, you guys will be howling (as will I) if Brexit is lost or we get stuck in a lousy deal forever tied to the EU because Farage (perhaps got a little tipsy and) mouthed off about the Royal family. You – and he – should know better.

It doesn’t matter how popular Meghan Markle is. That is of no consequence.

The media from now on will only be repeating one line “Nigel Farage made disparaging remarks about the Royal family.”* They will do so over and over again and, especially so, if there is a General Election or second referendum before we leave. They will be repeating that line whenever something ‘happens to’ The Brexit Party and the news will be half a sentence (even if its a By-Election win) + “whose leader, Nigel Farage, recently made disparaging remarks about the Royal family.”

Rob, I’m sorry to say this but I’m staggered that you are so dim (or at least appear to be so dim) as to not realise this. When you are a Party leader you need to be very careful what you say, what you write and who you see and spend time with, especially in private. All the time. And you cannot trust people where money can be made out of a newspaper, a media company, potential blackmailers and political opponents.

There’s a colossal irony in the last sentence of your post.

          Wise up.

Amazing how accurate historical events are being repeated.

Since Boris (Winston Churchill) Johnson became Prime Minister, No (Surrender) Deal Derangement Syndrome has worsened at the BBC. The BBC is a harbinger of unprecedented national doom saying that Britain will have no food if we don’t do a surrender deal with the Germans.
Northern Foods chairman Lord (Halifax) Haskins warned of a wartime situation of food rationing. There could be ‘panic-buying’, he said.

The BBC has been positively inspired by fear of the Germans and the Summer season. Solid factual evidence for the positive governance of the EU and the Atmospheric Physics of man-made Climate Change do not support the BBC’s authoritarian, anti-democratic and elitist experts or its scientific socialists, environmentalist and child savant experts.

Lacking anything positive to say about a Europe united by the Germans or the Summer weather, the Remainers (Fascists) use fear of the Germans to make us want to surrender.

After surrendering to Germany, Tony (Oswald Mosley) Blair plans to form the Union Movement, which will call for a single nation-state to cover the continent of Europe, known as “Europe a Nation“, and later attempt to launch a “National Party of Europe” to this end. Max Mosley is already known to be funding a second referendum for this plan.

Acknowledging Islams role in the slave trade would be a much more interesting exhibition.

Also acknowledging that many of the cotton workers in the North starved during the cotton famine because of their support for an end to slavery.

In Brazenose Square in Manchester there is a statue to Abraham Lincoln, in memory of the letter he wrote thanking the people of Manchester for their support which was read to a packed audience at the free trade hall.

    Who is controlling the media?

Not just the BBC – the whole damn lot of it and it can’t be the cowardly useless Tories, they’re too incompetent to acheive that.

Certain stories of at best dubious veracity, downright fake, or politically motivated are appearing across the entire mainstream media, all at the same time.

Yesterday virtually all media outlets carried the same fake new story about Nigel Farage criticising the beloved Queen mother, whilst failing to tell the truth that he was in fact praising her longevity.

There are several other examples of this such as – but his real name is Yaxley Lenon. Again all the media all at the same time.

‘Far right’ using a definition from an obscure far left academic at an obscure Swiss University which they cherry picked – ” anyone who opposes Muslim immigration of further Islamisation of the West” (in other words 90% of the population). All at the same time, all using ths same definition.

There are loads of other examples of this going on across the media, and even begining to pin down the source is difficult. Maybe it’s the NUJ athough I’m not convinced they are powerful enough to pull that off, perhaps more likely is OFCOM and its far Left boss Saron White who the cowardly useless Tories adore. Maybe they are behind it, but one thing is for certain, it is happening, and it isn’t by accident.

      Hi Thoughtful,
When it comes to controlling the media news agenda, wouldn’t say its down to the NUJ although its membership does certainly reflect the woke, leftie, anti Tory media in general.
I recall NUJ meetings as far back as the 80s when there was more discussion about Nicaragua and wimmin’s rights than the shockingly poor pay and conditions outside London.
This one size fits all neo-fake news that we’re being fed is possibly the result of a mixture of lazy, ill trained, copy and paste journos who can’t be arsed to go out and find their own news, being led by a woke, liberal, brainwashed graduate class being spewed out via countless media studies courses.
Our academic elite, public service cohort and the BBC are all of the same mindset.

The last three years in UK politics should have taught everyone that LeftyLibbySocialists are not nice people. They and their media friends & supporters are gonna play dirty. We had it with that ill-thought out but correct poster on the Leave Campaign coach. Even now Remain voters still use it as a stick to beat the Leave Campaign and its leading representatives with.

And voila Farage mocks Meghan & mentions the Queen Mother is passing ..and the press report that as hom mocking the QM and being RACIST about Meghan.
BTW Hookem failed in the leadership and then flounced off out of the party.
