Weekend Open Thread 29 June 2019

The MSM campaign to ‘ get Boris ‘ trundles on . As a result I bet both candidates see MSM involvement – such as hustings – a mistake . This shows how the MSM has put its own personal view above the needs of the public .

The Brexit Party announcement. (Not on the BBC, of course).

    “”Dear Supporter,””

“”Our national event, The Big Vision, is sold out at the NEC Birmingham today.
If you haven’t got a ticket you can still follow the political event of the summer.

Watch The Big Vision live, via our social media pages, from 4pm this afternoon.

Don’t miss the chance to hear the Brexit Party’s first big policy announcements, and the results of our supporters’ votes on options for political reform. We will also be announcing our first 100-plus candidates for a General Election.

If you do have a ticket for The Big Vision, we look forward to seeing more than 5,000 of you this afternoon for the next step in our campaign to change politics for good. “”

It will be interesting to hear their plans for the BBC 😉

The ST informs me that women are leaping up the bbc pay league. How gratifying that wimmin are now overpaid as much as men at the biased broadcasting corp.

    • G says:

If those cancelling their TV tax is gaining momentum, that loss of revenue + overpayments (“equal” payments) to staff surely means ‘two-ends-to-the-middle’. Not a good business model. I imagine a good number of over 75’s will elect not to pay for a licence when the time comes.
Anyway, I dream of the day when viewing numbers to the BBC and the other broadcasters fall to their ethnic contingent only. After all, it is they who the BBC and other broadcasters focus their output on almost exclusively now. Evidence? Look no further than the disproportionate numbers of black and asian faces which equally disproportionately adorn almost every item of tv advertising. Let’s see if that small faction can financially support the BBC and all its excesses.

  3. G.W.F. says:

Re-writing history from the standpoint of what the media see as the progressive elite

Churchill was gay. Well maybe, could have been, …
Yeah, why not. Thatcher was a lesbian, Lloyd George was a transvestite and Nye Bevan was into sheep love.

    • pugnazious says:

He can’t have been gay because he was a devout Muslim having converted when he saw how wonderful the religion was whilst on the Northwest Frontier and in the Sudan….and we all know Muslims don’t like homosexuality…as Baroness Warsi tells us…from 2005 but so relevant to today…..

‘“Labour has scrapped Section 28, which was introduced by the Conservatives to stop schools promoting alternative sexual lifestyles such as homosexuality to children as young as seven years old.

“Labour reduced the age of consent for homosexuality from 18 to 16, allowing schoolchildren to be propositioned for homosexual relationships.”’

  4. pugnazious says:

Another hit-job on Boris by a Louisa Gosling….who might she be? Someone who had very close ties to the EU and presumably still has a close affinity for the Empire.

    Previous jobs….

‘Application of EU competition law to liberalise telecommunications markets in member states. Liaison with DG Telcommunications. Advising, speech writing, briefs, press releases for Commissioner Van Miert (Competition Commissioner); consultations and communications with stakeholders and experts

Monitoring, intelligence and analysis of EU and UK policy developments affecting media, telecommunications and publishing sectors.

Director EU Regulatory Affairs….Achievements include : (1) participation in EU policy arena defining core principles for the 2002 Regulatory Review of Electronic Communications Markets.

    President EuroISPA
    Brussels, Belgium
Spokesperson and representative for the positions and interests of the European ISP industry in their communications with press, policy makers and other stakeholders. Director and Chair of EuroISPA Council negotiations for establishment of policy priorities and common positions.

So she’s had a long involvement with the EU in one shape or another….and presumably the love affair continues…and she serves her masters well with a hit-job on Boris in the pro-EU Times. It doesn’t matter whether the story is completely true, half-true or totally false…it’s out there now as intended and the media has gone for it in a big way…the BBC yet to comment but you can be sure it will be a constant thread in any discussion on Boris this week.

    • JimS says:

Am I right that she has been both ‘poacher’ and ‘gamekeeper’?

Not at the same time I hope, but then it is the EU.

  5. Doobster78 says:

Another BBC “impartial” reporter who sits and waits to pick at any little aspect of President Trump.

    Embarrassing. Really is.

  6. Cassandra says:

I think this story about Emily Maitless sums up the attitude that the BBC has towards the public who it extorts money from via the licence fee.
Maitless was photographed with her dog sitting on a seat beside her on a busy London to Cornwall train this week, despite it being against the rules of the train company, Great Western Railway.

She wrote in The Sunday Times today, ‘I have been pet-shamed by an outraged passenger who clearly didn’t notice that the incriminating photo also contained the trainered feet of a passenger stretched out on the row behind us.’

Not sorry, no apology and no consideration for other passengers and then shifting the attention from her misdemeanor to someone else. The same strategy the BBC used for Jimmy Savile, Stuart Hall and DJ Chris Denning et al.

I won’t apologize to the accusation of overreacting to this story because the BBC and the people employed by it, unlike other mere mortals, believe they are above scrutiny and the law of the land.

    • Navets says:

Can you imagine the column inches that would have been generated had it been Boris Johnson or Nigel Farage with either the dog or the trainers?

    • Deborah says:

I am severely allergic to dogs but the asthma it triggers may wait until I go to bed. I once had to endure a long train journey on a full train with a woman (not Maitlis, sitting opposite with her dog for whom she had bought a ticket). She kept assuring me the breed was one that didn’t trigger asthma. I was awake most of the night coughing with an important meeting the following day. The arrogance of Maitlis is breathtaking. She took her dog all the way to Cornwall for some sea air? What about her carbon footprint….and the dogs, come to that. I trust she paid some carbon credits to off set it.

    • Fedup2 says:

It’s nice to know someone sneaked a picture of the famous Emily as she really is . If I had a dog I would not let it sit on a public seat meant for people . I’m guessing the dog is female …

I bet she’s on the BoJo target list ….

      • BRISSLES says:

I’m certainly no fan of Maitlis, but according to her the dog was not on the seat for the entire journey, but just 17 minutes. If she had a brain in her head, and knowing she was taking a dog on the train, then carry a blanket for the dog to lie on and buy a seat ticket for it. Simples.

These days no bugger is safe with bloody phone cameras, oh and recording equipment to listen in on private conversations and bust ups.

With the advent of all singing/dancing smart phones, personal data collecting Facebook, the world has become one huge Stasi state. Yet no one blinks a bloody eye.

    • Despairada says:

Aside: Notice also the title of the book ‘Partition Voices’.

Emily prepping up on the evil empire maybe.

  9. Doobster78 says:

Not BBC but Sky News, but they all pee in the same pot !!!!

It’s another Trump bashing headline, check out the comments, wonder when these far left, Trump hating agencies will finally get the message , people are sick and tired of their liberal agenda. Like many have said, can you imagine the difference in reporting of this was Obama !!! Sopel and co would be drooling !!!

    • Roland Deschain says:

      Surprisingly, I found this.

      • Doobster78 says:

Well well well …. Wonders will never cease !!!! One for the scrapbook.

Why didn’t he do it before
          He’s legitimising a fascist state
He’s only trying to get a Nobel Prize

( not sure which one Sopel will address these comments too ..)

I do wonder if a few beeboids might be realising a true enemy is about to become the PM – and could be there for a while …. if he pulls off brexit …

  10. Cassandra says:

This might interest you Navets, it’s about the comedy ‘Rabbit’ from Channel 4:

“Nigel Farage has furiously hit out at Channel 4 after a satire shows a spoof of him shot in the head during a speech on immigration.

The Brexit Party and former UKIP leader, 55, branded Year Of The Rabbit ‘totally sick and frankly irresponsible’ after it emerged they will kill off ‘Neil Fromage’ on tomorrow night’s show.

The series, which first aired on June 10 and stars Bodyguard actress Keeley Hawes, will play the clip in the upcoming fourth episode – but it is already available on Sky.”

It’s worth watching if only to count the amount of black and Asian actors in this comedy set in Victorian London.

I expect it won’t be too long before the BBC or Channel 4 broadcast a comedy about the frail leader of a Marxist opposition party who is murdered by an obese female comedian who embeds an ice pick in his head while he is making jam.

Just a moment, there seems to be flashing blue neon light coming through the window and the sound of my door being kicked down. Why that looks like police issue mark 2 taser…

    • Navets says:

Humour? it’s all predictable, infantile and about as funny as my Aunt Mabel getting her left…….well that’s another story as told by Dudley Moore.

As for the ice pick, I think the obese comedienne would be at the back of a very large ungodly and disorderly queue.

Do you still have police where you live? The last time I saw one, he was asleep at the wheel of a police car just off an obscure out of town roundabout. An endangered species if ever I saw one, undoubtedly under threat because of climate change.

  11. Foscari says:

I would like to apologize for my prediction that there would
be up to 80% Indian supporters at Edgbaston for the India-England
World Cup cricket match. I underestimated it is nearer to 90%!!
Birmingham is an English city where one would of thought that a few
thousand Englishmen would be interested in watching their
national side in a very important game.
BUT I was forgetting a couple of things. The Indians really love their
cricket which they are very good at it. AND apparently they were
very organized when it came to applying for tickets for the game.
Basically they had acquired most of the tickets whilst the England
    supporters were sleeping.
There is a lot to learn from the ex members of our empire from
the Indian sub continent. The ones from the southern part are
very good at applying for cricket tickets. The ones from the north
exceptional at applying for POSTAL BALLOTS amongst other things,
which the BBC don’t like talking about.

  12. Fedup2 says:

I was talking to an Indian friend at my church today and he said you could get a ticket for the cricket today for £1000 yesterday . It is more important to our Indian friends that England win in order to eliminate the hated Pakis – who are so good at filling in postal votes and may be the biggest challenge to the next general election being anything like fair-

With or without nonsense allegations about Russians or other foreigners ‘interfering ‘.

The beboids found the quote below on a ‘groupthink’ twitter account.

“This whole meme is just another Trump snow-job of flim-flam. Does anyone seriously believe Kim will give up even one warhead [because] Trump is his bud?,” said Robert Kelly, professor of political science at Pusan University in South Korea.

  14. Fedup2 says:

The Londonistan mayor must be busy this weekend talking to the next of kin of 4 – four – separate murder victims – which on my count brings the number to 70 – half way through the year – heading for my 150 prediction against 132 last year .

Why the fixation with numbers ? Well the homicide rate is considered to be the one stat which can’t be fiddled with . And upon which the relative ‘safety ‘ or areas can be assessed.

I caught a bit of the world at one attacking the BOJo record as mayor of London because they hate him and are fully biased against him ‘ mardell should be ashamed of himself but he, like so many beeboids with his , sold their soul and journalistic reputation years ago .

They would dearly love it if Saint Serena of Compton wins another slam 🎾

    • G says:

Yes, it’s a case of the ‘Buck stopping somewhere’. That happens to be President Trump exercising his hard nose business ability and knowledge over the absence of same with Saint ‘Back of the Queue’ Barry. The Chinese have been stealing intellectual property for decades and George Bush and the Saint turned a blind eye in view of their lack of business experience and indeed any backbone.
Just imagine when the Japs were up to the same intellectual property theft in the 70’s and 80’s/90’s how a President Trump type would have hampered their commercial advancement. The international commercial World would now be a totally different place.

  16. Fedup2 says:

An unusually interesting piece in The Guardian ( I know – I’m a heretic ) but …. it’s about people who do not consume The News – in any form – perhaps a third of the available population .
I used to know people who just didn’t pay any attention to the news or politics or current affairs at all . The important things were David Beckham s new tattoo and who was screwing who on East Enders .
Perhaps people who don’t pay attention to the BBC – yet alone its bias – are better off – spiritually – and choose to worry about other things they consider more important .

    • Not Gwent says:

Many years ago I was speaking with a smart engineer and was amazed to learn that they didn’t watch the news.

The point being that it’s not just Beckham tattoo followers who abstain.

    • BigBrotherCorporation says:

Having been very busy and hardly glancing at the BBC website (where I used to get all my news) I’ve been one of those not ‘paying attention’ this week… and frankly, it’s been great, most relaxing and stressfree.

This evening, I made the mistake of (bad habit) returning to the BBC News webshite, and the propaganda machine is so blatant, it’s cringemaking.

It seems like every single feckin’ article:

      Glastonbury (doubleplusgood)
      Trump (doubleplusbad)
      EU (doubleplusgood)
      Brexit (doubleplusbad)
      ‘Migrant’ rescue (doubleplusgood)
      Boris (5 minutes of hate)
      Stomzy (doubleplusdoubleplusgood)
Plastic (another 5 minutes of hate)
      More vaginas
      Gay vaginas
      Diseased vaginas
      Diseased gay vaginas…

I’ve decided I’m giving up on the BBC webshite for good, which means I won’t be receiving any BBC input at all, which can only be a good thing. From what I hear lots of others are doing the same.

  17. taffman says:

Al Beeb be warned, The Brexit Party are on the offensive ! ‘Nigel Farage is out of the box’!
Can they bring UKIP with them ?
Will Al Beeb cover the parties’ surge ?

    • taffman says:

“Brexit Party says it will scrap interest on tuition fees”
      That’s a weak headline but couched inside…………….
“By leaving the EU without a deal, axing HS2 and halving the overseas aid budget, Mr Farage claimed the party would free up to £200bn to spend on economic development outside London.”

  18. Fedup2 says:

We need to feel for the MSM and in particular the BBC which has had to lead its news with The President of America texting North Korea and then paying an actual visit .

Feel too for the Democrats busily catfighting over which one is going to lose the 2020 election – I know this has the smell of hubris about it – but diplomacy by twitter isn’t a bad way to conduct World Affairs ….

Nothing on England India? Sorry, you were right, it’s not really important enough – except that India captain Kholi complained about the short boundary, implying a bit of gamesmanship on England’s part, which is all you’d expect from such blatant imperialists, fiddling the rules to ensure true sportspersons are cheated of their success.

    • theleftwilleatitself says:

I don’t consider myself a stupid person so correct me if you think I am wrong, but surely the fact this Stormzy dickhead is black and wore a stab proof vest highlights the fact our capital city is in the midst of a crime epidemic, and it’s useless Mayor has lost control?
