Midweek Open Thread 26 June 2019

Day 6 of the Boris Johnson crucifixion . Even the least attentive person must , by now , have realised that the Main Stream Media -led by a hostile biased BBC – are out for Mr Johnson’s blood . Only President Trump has received more vilification .

Perhaps , on the up side , more people will become conscious of what the MSM / BBC is doing in the name of taxpayers . And perhaps they’ll get Fedup too .

Boris Johnson Impressed with Israel, Thinks Islam Leaves Much to be Desired

Then there is Johnson’s enthusiasm for Israel. On a trip to that country, he made such pro-Israel remarks that scheduled meetings with both a Palestinian youth group and an organization of Palestinian businesswomen were cancelled, as a sign of their displeasure at Johnson’s denunciation of the BDS movement; a brief meeting with the Palestinian prime minister, Rami Hamdallah, did go ahead. What had Johnson done to earn such anger? During his three-day visit to Israel, he had repeatedly criticized the BDS movement’s calls for a boycott of Israeli goods, describing the campaign as “completely crazy” and promoted by a “few snaggle-toothed corduroy-wearing lefty academics.”

BBC report hails success of (Israeli) cancer treatment. According to the BBC, the CAR-T cancer therapy, (invented by Professor Zelig Eshhar of Israel’s Weizmann Institute) is curing 40% of UK lymphoma patients who were otherwise untreatable and terminal. Amazing case stories – but doesn’t mention Israel of course!

    Hahahaha.
    That’s torn it.
On bBBC London news, the latest doom and gloom pollution story.
But wait. The highest levels of pollution monitored was not next to any road but………on the tube !
Quite how the Mayor is going to square that inconvenient truth with his (and usually the BBC’s) anti-car war on the motorist, emissions zone I can’t wait to find out.

Not new news of course cos 3 or 4 years ago when the BBC producer guy went around measuring pollution
He also found that the monitor went off the scale in the tube
..AFAIK it was iron oxide dust ..and he was told to ignore it
The explanation was not very scientific.

I thought that the highest level of pollution was in Mare Dave Hedgehog’s County Hall, or whatever it’s called now!

A bit late but time for another relevant inconvenient truth.
The City of London monitors pollution levels at around 15 sites.
Over a period of about four years, say 2014-2018 they met every target for every site in every quarter.
Except one. One site in one quarter exceeded the target.
The reason. Old diesels? Stationary traffic queues?
Nope. It was due to the construction work putting in a new cycle lane !!!!

Right on cue, at about. 1710 on R4PM, the bBBC cover the huge fine on Southern Water by giving free rein to that famous independent voice, ….err…., Green MP Caroline Lucas.
Cuddly Far Left Caroline, whose usual disposition seems uncannily like those of Corbyn and Mcdonnell.
As expected she calls for the water companies to be nationalised. This conveniently ignores the fact that there is comeback when private companies cock up, through fines and the regulatory regime, as on this occasion.
Strangely Caroline is not discussing the recent ‘successes’ of the nationalised NHS in Shrewsbury i.e. premature deaths.
Over which the public have no comeback at all, no point in fining anyone, no-one disciplined, no sackings. Nothing.
Nor does she understand that the profits she hates the private sector making will certainly not be paid out under nationalisation, but not for the reason she naively and ludicrously thinks. Nationalisation would eliminate profitability straight off the bat, as the profit motive is quickly replaced by the political and a***-covering motives.
And was there any robust questioning on these lines by the BBC ‘journalists’?
    What do you think ?

Had a couple of contradictory experiences with the political left here in the holy land, both connected to London.

First was a guy learned in English literature, who’d lived in London and is so far left that he regards the furthest-left Israeli party, Merets, as not left enough for him. When I told him I am pretty much centre-right but would probably be regarded these days as far right because the entire political spectrum has shifted to the left, he disagreed, claiming it has shifted to the right. Dunno how he worked that one out. He wasn’t exactly hostile, but he seemed to regard me as in dire need of reform.

Second was one of the accountants at work, who has just returned from a trip to London. He’s solidly on the left, disagrees with me that the BBC hates Israel (he listens to it in his car) but isn’t one of the snarling lefties and is in fact a cheerful, friendly guy. He likes to practice his English on me and I asked him today how London was. He was a bit alarmed. He said first they are going to do Brexit and then they are going to clean the streets of all the immigrants.

I said that sounds good to me. He just laughed. All this reminds me of a joke I’ve told here a few times. Stop me if you’ve heard it before:

An Israeli visiting London goes to the zoo. As he approaches the African lions’ cage, he notices a little girl playing dangerously close to the bars. Suddenly one of the lions grabs the girl with his paw and starts to pull her into the cage. The Israeli rushes up and gives the lion a powerful punch on the nose. The lion drops the girl, the Israeli scoops her up and hands her to her frantic parents, who shower him with thanks.

A BBC reporter has witnessed everything. He goes up to the Israeli and says, “Sir, that was the bravest thing I have ever seen a man do. I’m sure this will be on our TV news tonight. Can you tell me something about yourself?”

The Israeli says, “Really, it was nothing, I just did what I had to do to save the little girl. But if you’d like some info about me, I’ve just arrived from Israel where I’m a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party and a captain in the IDF.”

Back in his hotel that evening he switches BBC news on. The announcer says, “An Israeli settler, in the country illegally, broke into a London shelter housing African refugees, assaulted one of them and stole his lunch.”

Even the left inclined have noticed the continual attacks on Boris. Especially the recording of the conversation and the subsequent Guardian articles. I notice the Guardian is being very careful about CIF at the moment .
It is desperation time for a bunch of nobodies who cannot take the result of the referendum. If those Tories carry out their threat of bringing a new PM down then it is actually declaring a de facto war on the voters.
They need to think very carefully as in that case we will have to choose sides. All of us .
It is reaching the point where irrespective of your view on the EU it is our democracy that is under threat and that is far more serious.

        bworth58,

CIF = Comment is Free. It’s the Guardian comment section under some of its articles. They sort of tolerate input from non-lefties, as long as they don’t get too emphatic about non-lefty beliefs.

The emphatic ones are cautioned and put on ‘moderation’ until they have moderated their behavior. How that works is your comment doesn’t go through straight away but is put on ice until a moderator might decide to post it, with the result that you are effectively excised from the debate since even if the comment is eventually allowed the debate has moved on without you.

You are not allowed to simply take a break for a while and then come back to see if the moderation has been lifted. You are obliged to continue to comment, without being too emphatic, to prove that you are no longer a threat to the lefty establishment.

This re-education at the hands of the Guardian comrades puts you at a disadvantage in a way since your lefty opponents can fight you with the most acerbic comments and foul language, generally without fear of moderation, while you are obliged to be meek and mild. However, that can backfire on the them as you find yourself restricted purely to factual argument, hard to dispute.

The comrades moderated me a few times during my attempts to enlighten them and finally banned me outright.

I’m delighted that the Guardian is now doing so badly that it has to continually beg for funds from its readers.

Is it me or does the bbbc seem to have become semi-hysterical about virtually everything? The reports have become ever more pointed and the agendas ever more fluorescent with less attempt at concealment. For example, the headline ‘Five reasons women’s football beats men’s’.

Unelievable isn’t it? It’s deliberately provocative and throws all caution to the wind. I’m beginning to think we may be witnessing an ‘On the Beach’ attitude developing rather rapidly within the offices of the bbbc. A kind of,’Well, we’re going to lose our licence anyway and the ‘radiation’ cloud of Brexit is getting ever nearer, so we might as well go out with a bang’, type of reasoning.

“Come on brothers, sisters and urr antelope! Rake up the muck before it all ends! Upload that old video of Boris picking his nose! Hone in on the plight of butch lesbians! Find more photos of white hands on knives! We might be going down but we can take a few with us before we go. Let’s rock!”

Very interesting observations. What would the late great Alistair Cooke, with his Letter from America, have thought of today’s BBC with its agenda-pushing aversion to facts that don’t suit that agenda and its desperate search for facts that can be manipulated to suit it?

I assume that as a BBC man Cooke was on the left but I could not detect any political leaning in the Letters I listened to. He was a genuine journalist, with in-depth knowledge of the subjects he discussed, a dry wit and a real way with words. No doubt he would have been appalled at the output from the BBC today.

    • Ian Rushlow says:

‘On the Beach’ attitude is a good and insightful analogy. There are two other factors at play:
      1. In the Soviet Union, the state lied to the people as a matter of course. The people knew they were being lied to. And the state knew that the people knew they were being lied to. But they didn’t care: it was a matter of control and humiliation, effectively putting up two fingers to the population and saying we can do what we want, you can’t do a thing about it and you have to go along with it.
      2. There is no truth or objectivity for Leftists; rather, everything is relative and malleable. This was best expressed by Orwell in the ‘1984’, where 2+2=4, but sometimes 5, or whatever the Party wanted it to be on the day. When Mao put his opponents on trial, they were frequently charged with ’empiricism’ i.e. acting on experience and reality rather than what Marxist-Leninist theory said should be the case. Or as Trotsky pleaded to this supporters: “Ignore the truth!”. To the BBC, reality is only a construct: if they believe that global warming is real or that information about 1/2 dozen ‘Butch lesbians’ in South America is important, then it really is and they don’t understand why the rest of us don’t go along with their fantasies and delusions. And it’s not just due to limited intelligence: the mindset/programming is such that they are actually incapable of understanding.

I don’t know why they don’t just forego the 90 minutes and go straight to penalties, there seem to be at least 2 very dodgy ones every game. I honestly think that I’ve coached better players at U14 level.

Lengthy final item. Anthony Seldon (I think pro-EU, pro-Remain – we were not told – the BBC’s openness and honesty about this predilection did not extend beyond Tom Penn and Sunday into the rest of the week) is brought on to demonstrate that Boris Johnson is weird.

Thanks, BBC. I knew that already.

Thanks, BBC, from the rest of the country but they knew that already or at least the ones who take an interest in politics did.

I don’t have a vote in the Conservative leadership contest but I suspect that all that do, the 160,000, already know that Boris is weird.

I have a shrewd suspicion that to them, that is part of the attraction of Bojo.

It’s funny how the BBC roll out anti democrats like seldon and Adonis when it suits them ..

Anyway – I heard meeshal pumping out a hurried ‘ clarification ‘ about some traitor Tory who had been stupid enough to be on their programme .

Apparently the BBC said that the Tory would be one of those happy to bring the government down to stop brexit. He said that he is not one of them .

Maybe there are 12 Tory traitors wishing to vote against their own party to stop brexit . The likes of Clarke , Grieve, mad Rory are wealthy enough to retire . Their biggest risk would be the non – peerage
As their constituents flush them down to toilet .

. . So the BBC will be constantly tooling for traitor MPs happy to destroy their Party and help destroy their country to become part of the US of Europe

Without a trace of irony – with a march in London today to save the world from Anthropogenic Global Warming, Climate Change, Climate Emergency, Climate Crisis and, now, Climate Disaster – the BBC expend vast amounts of CO2 to send Martha Kearney to Japan at the Licence Fee-payers’ (now including those over 75 years of age) expense. That is despite already having a BBC Correspondent in Japan.

Without another trace of irony, Martha talks to a young, University exchange student, who is spending a year and considerable amounts of CO2 at the University in Kyoto.

One of the earliest items I heard this a.m. was about the abundant insect life on the planet: about 80% of all living things. The Humph asked a leading question. Rumpole was on his feet to object to the Judge but the witness was already gabbling away with his answer. “Yes, most of it is under threat.”

I wondered if the person was a scientist? Or a wildlife enthusiast? Or an observant member of the public? Or a campaigner or spokesperson for a campaigning group.

You would think with a march today in London against Anthropogenic (CO2+methane) Global Warming, Climate Change, Climate Emergency, Climate Crisis and, now, Climate Disaster that The Humph might wonder how much CO2 and methane insects emit. And ask a question of the witness to that end. And their habitats, too. The Humph did not enquire. And how much the insect population compares in size to the human population of the planet. Again, no desire to know.

Awkward but nevertheless important questions if we are to get to Net Zero ever, let alone by 2050.

Here’s an inconvenient truth that Al Gore will not tell you: a major cull of the insect population would actually help in reaching that Net Zero goal.

It might, probably would, cause other problems but it certainly would help cut world CO2 and methane outputs.

These important questions were not asked by the BBC.

    I wonder why?

We saw another perfect example of the BBC’S agenda against
Boris Johnson this morning on the Breakfast Programme on TV.
Dan Walker was grilling a Minister on the poor quality support,

important. After several minutes Walker then told the Minister
that although he had supported Michael Gove in the preliminary
voting stages, who was he supporting now? As if he didn’t know!
This had all been a set up by the editor and politically biased
hierarchy at the BBC to give more support for THEIR man who
they want to see as leader of the Conservative Party , Jeremy Hunt.
The preceding several minutes on the important issue of child

If anyone wanted to give the BBC the benefit of any doubt about their ‘ neutrality ‘ this astonishing Alex Boris Johnson saga is the case study .

We know what the BBC defence will be – “he’s the next PM – unelected by the ordinary voter – so we are doing the ‘ quality control ‘ -“ assuming the role as some kind of extra constitutional vetting agency .

If anyone looks at the BBC Charter I’d like to see the bit which authorises that.

Good outcome – Boris become s PM . Pulls us out before 31 October . No deal . Sorts out short term consequence of ‘no deal ‘ …. and then delivers cold revenge on the BBC . And will they deserve it .

The BBC selective amnesia was in full swing this a.m., not just on CO2 and insects, but on Brexit delays. They appear very keen to put back, extend, that Brexit deadline of 31 October 2019. They really were angling for it today.

Yet they will frequently have other people (in a spirit of honesty & openness, on behalf of the BBC I guess they are pro-EU, pro-Remain) come on to the TOADY Programme on other mornings to tell listeners that ‘the Brexit delay and uncertainty is harming British business.’.

Most peculiar. Which is it, BBC? I think we should be told.

Not BBC bias, but undoubtedly NUJ inspired reporting in the increasingly leftist Daily Mail:

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7182439/Racist-Miami-Beach-condo-owner-hurls-fury-British-guest.html

They will go half way across the world to find a Hispanic woman allegedly abusing a black woman, they fail to report the horrific story on their doorstep of a blind white man who was attacked and racially abused by a gang of Pakistani Muslims.

    https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/blind-man-attacked-newton-heath-16483214

Thanks to NUJ reporting restrictions they are only referred to as ‘men’, yet it is clear from witness descriptions they know exactly what they are.

Our mainstream media, as corrupt as ever, it’s only racism when they say it is and only white people can be ‘racist’.

Instead of providing, say, stories about current affairs in Indonesia (e.g., the current Islamofascist attempt to overthrow the democratically elected President), they today posted TWICE, an irrelevant (to Indonesians) story about the town of Aksum in Ethiopia not allowing Muslims to build mosques. (they don’t mention that churches are banned in all of Saudi Arabia), and a story about their investigation into Uighur Muslims camps in China.

Yesterday’s story was ‘two Muslims break the burkini ban in France’, and followed from ANOTHER story about the supposed Uighur persecution two days ago.

Should that anti-Semitic, terrorist-loving communist Jeremy Corbyn become PM, I was wondering what his cabinet would look like.

John McDonnell would probably make foreign minister. HIs first bit of business would be in the Middle East to encourage his and Corbyn’s friends to step up their killing of Israelis and Westerners .

Seumas Milne has been very quiet lately, but no doubt he covets the security portfolio so he could head the Gulag.

Diane Hippabbottamus would make an excellent chancellor. Who better than someone who can’t do basic arithmetic to oversee the spending of other people’s money till it runs out?

There would be no shortage of applicants for Minister of Truth and Corbyn would find rich pickings at the BBC. He’d probably settle on Nick Robinson, who seems to think that Orwell’s 1984 is an instruction manual for an ideal society.

One very interesting case which i had seen before. Bus full of passengers, a large percentage of them Asian males. On the busses cameras it showed another vehicle following closely behind for a long period and driving erratically. The driver was, yep, a Asian Male.

What happened next was hilarious. The following car proceeded to drive into the back of the bus at approx 10mph, barely denting the bumpers. Then it got better, about 20 of the Asian males on the bus, were picked up on the onboard camera, instantly , in unison, all holding their necks, one even threw himself on the floor.

As you may have guessed, over 20 personal injury claims went in. Insurers investigated. all 20 GUILTY OF FRAUD.

I dont know the exact statistics, but i would hazard a guess that 90 % of all crash for cash scams are perpetrated by Asian males.

I dont know the exact statistics, but i would hazard a guess that 90 % of all postal voting fraud is carried out by Asian males.

Who was the ringleader of the Peterborough labour campaign again ??????

But i don’t understand. because our National Broadcaster, the impartial BBC, tell me that these said groups do not carry out any crime of any sort ? Very strange.
