Weekend Open Thread 20 April 2019

I was going to call it the Easter Open Thread but this site is primarily about bearing witness to the bias of the Far Left BBC as opposed to specific religions [or none ]. Any way – there is a new line of attack for us . The BBC has whole heartedly swallowed all the human- activity-changing- climate stuff . You may agree or not .

But the point is – if the BBC wants to cut its ‘carbon fingerprint ‘ – is it doing it ? How many beeboids are sent to stand in front of events to talk at the camera when they’d do the same job sitting in a studio ? How much carbon is used and taxpayers’ cash spent ?

‘Does this evil organisation practice what it now preaches ? Perhaps every programme should have its carbon footprint published – the number of air miles and car miles – and programme cost -for starters .

Happy Easter .

Mysterious explosions going off in several churches and hotels across Sri Lanka, leaving 20 killed and more than 200 injured. Strangely, the BBC doesn’t seem at all curious who might be behind these attacks, or even why. It doesn’t even speculate.

“…Sri Lanka explosions: 20 killed as churches and hotels targeted

At least 20 people are reported to have been killed and more than 200 injured in explosions at churches and hotels in Sri Lanka.

At least six explosions have been reported. Three churches in Kochchikade, Katuwapitiya and Batticaloa were targeted. The Shangri La, Cinnamon Grand and Kingsbury hotels, all in Colombo, were also hit Easter Sunday is one of the major feasts in the Christian calendar. Images on social media showed the inside of one of the churches – St Sebastian’s in Katuwapitiya – with a shattered ceiling and blood on the pews.”

The BBC are a disgrace to journalism and an insult to the very concept of unbiased, impartial reporting.

More than 130 people reported as having been murdered at time of writing (0845). Another mass killing in a Commonwealth country. But don’t expect days and weeks of coverage as with Christchurch – it will probably be off the front page by dinner time. The BBC are starting to gently pull the curtain aside to reveal some possible culprits: “There have been fears that Islamic State group fighters returning from the Middle East could pose a threat in the country.” But they quickly add: “In the years since the end of Sri Lanka’s civil war in 2009, there has been some sporadic violence, with members of the majority Buddhist Sinhala community attacking mosques and Muslim-owned properties.” See what they did there? If one didn’t know better, one might think they are subtly trying to imply that violence between Buddhists and Muslims somehow explains or maybe even ‘justifies’ mass murder against Christians and foreigners.

Police chief Pujuth Jayasundara sent an intelligence warning to top officers on April 11 setting out the threat.

“A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama’ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo,” said the alert.

The NTJ is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that came to notice last year when it was linked to the vandalism of Buddhist statues.

Only around six percent of mainly Buddhist Sri Lanka is Catholic, but the religion is seen as a unifying force because it includes people from both the Tamil and majority Sinhalese ethnic groups.

        Telegraph this morning.

Interesting to see how the BBC deal with this.

I’ll give it to those in BBC high command HQ head quarters, main offices; they’ve got brilliant “foresight” so they can see forwards a few years so they are getting their “Allah Akbars” in much sooner than normal people.

        They hate Christians apparently!

Bet by then the licence fee will be free for all Muslims in this country (not just pensioners – white penssioners will have to pay though)

      Obi,
The news report used the expression, “Churches” so, at this stage, we have to think, Christian Churches, it being Easter an’ all.
Estimated primary religion of Sri Lanka is Buddhist (70.2% 2011); Christian, 6.1%; 9.7% Sunni muslim.
      Buddhists use Temples not Churches.
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Sri_Lanka
All things said, Buddhists in that part of the World have not been found to be a soft touch when it comes to confrontation with muslims. On the other hand, ‘turning the other cheek’ Christians, are.
In any event, as you assert ObiWan, we will not be told the truth by the MSM in general and in particular our far left Cultural Marxist State Broadcaster so, ‘hey ho’ I join the dots.

The BBC’s take on the mass murders in Sri Lanka is interesting…for its lack of interest in the events rather than the content.

When we had the attack in Christchurch there was instant total outrage and condemnation and a rush to blame ‘populist’ politicians and commentators for the killings.

Here….not so much. The BBC tells us we really have no idea who may have carried out the attacks

‘No group has yet said it was responsible….it’s too early to say who is behind the attacks.’

They try to suggest in a slippery little comment that it may be returning extremists ‘radicalised’ by the non-Muslim group IS…thus putting distance between the attacks and ‘homegrown’ Muslim radicals…however it’s only ‘fears’ about a possible threat…nothing to do with ‘Islam’, it’s just those lunatics who twist and distort the religion of peace….

‘There have been fears that Islamic State group fighters returning from the Middle East could pose a threat in the country.’

The Times of Israel however points out that there had been warnings about a local Islamist group [Originally from an AFP news agency release]…

‘“A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama’ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo,” said the alert, which was sent by police chief Pujuth Jayasundara to top officers.

The NTJ is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that came to notice last year when it was linked to the vandalization of Buddhist statues.

    Here’s Al Jazeera….

‘Sri Lanka police warned of attacks before bombings: Report”A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama’ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo,” said the alert.

The NTJ is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that came to notice last year when it was linked to the vandalism of Buddhist statues.’

    The Telegraph…

The NTJ is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that came to notice last year when it was linked to the vandalism of Buddhist statues.’

How come the BBC is the only one to miss this press release? The BBC actually saying ‘No-one was expecting this’.

Hang on…the BBC does point the finger of blame and suggests who stirred up the trouble….Buddhists….

    ‘What’s Sri Lanka’s recent history?

In the years since the end of Sri Lanka’s civil war in 2009, there has been some sporadic violence, with members of the majority Buddhist Sinhala community attacking mosques and Muslim-owned properties. That led to a state of emergency being declared in March 2018.’

Which of course explains why Christian churches during Easter, as always, were attacked.

That’s how the BBC see things. I wonder, is it just a strange coincidence that we are about to enter a period known annually as Ramadan (5th May – 4th June)? Even if the media never points this out to an unwary public, you can be sure security services across the world are well-aware of the significance of those dates.

“Sri Lanka blast hints at growing terror in South Asia, ISIS hand suspected –

      – The pattern of the Sri Lanka attack – a series of coordinated blasts at high-value targets, intelligence units said – was typical of the Da’esh

      – ‘No Tamil fringe group is responsible for this attack,’ said a senior Union home ministry official.

      – If you observe the pattern of the attack it is a classic Islamic State attack. A collective of people has been targeted using explosives. The government is working closely with Sri Lanka to get to the bottom of this. As of now, we are strongly suspecting IS because of the nature of the attack, but forensics will try to establish the explosive used, and the kind of detonator and other details to get to the bottom of this.”

    #PoliticsOfEnvy
FFS comparing the two events is the fallacy of comparing apples and oranges.
    – You’ve got a load of people in a block of flats in London, living a fairly privileged life cos they are in the middle of London, and many are breaking the laws by subletting and cramming too many people in, some don’t have legal right to be in the UK, yet they got an amnesty for all that.
The local council promised to set up all the tenants in alternative nearby places, they had luxury hotel accomodation from day 1.
Most people would have had their own insurance, at least all of the private owners .

Why did no billionaire give a £100m to Grenfell ?
    ..err cos no one asked.
No money will bring the dead back to life
some money will help fill the gaps where insurance or gov doesn’t cover the injured
    hence the £27m
… whereas the French government appealed for €1bn to rebuild Notre Dame
The magnitudes asked are completely different

Just an interesting aside from the horrific attack in Sri Lanka.
Did anyone else notice a piece on the BBC news just after the Notre Dame “accident” last week?
One of their correspondents visited a nearby church of similar vintage to Notre Dame. Strangely (or not) a week or two ago this old building also caught fire. There was substantial damage, though nothing like as devastating as the Notre Dame disaster.
The Beeb journo clambered up into the rafters and said “Look, it’s all wood and very dry…” It was as though he was looking for a reason why these old buildings should suddenly take it upon themselves to self detonate… after standing unharmed for 800 years.

(The exceptions being communist North Korea and China.)

Meanwhile, Corbyn’s Easter message is about refugees, and how we should be taking in even more – most of them of the same religion doing the oppressing.

While it’s too early to be sure about Sri Lanka, security services and intelligence agencies in the area aren’t in much doubt.

I know it’s not the bBC but they are two cheeks of the same arse. This report was followed, in the same amateurish and agenda-driven way as all of their journalism seems to be, by an update from Waterloo Bridge where they had a pleasant chat with probably the only two black protesters there, one of whom was encouraged to spout complete and utter cosmic/ hippy crap in an affected mid-Atlantic accent, unchallenged for around 5 minutes.

Those are very strange figures. A more accurate methodology is to analyse BBC television programmes plus adverts on the commercial channels for banks, furniture shops and supermarkets. This proves conclusively that the true ethnic mix of Britain is:
        White 10%
        Black 40%
        Mixed 20%
        Asian (i.e. Indian sub-continent) 29%
Real Asians (i.e. Chinese, Japanese etc) 1%
Also worth pointing out that: women make up 80% of the population; 50% are homosexual; 25% are transgendered; 40% use wheelchairs; 65% are followers of Islam; 120% want the cost of the television license to increase (secret BBC survey); 0% Extinction Rebellion protesters to be charged.

G….Funnily enough such thoughts crossed my mind this morning..though from another direction. Those ‘big gobs’ are very vocal and highly aggressive in their attacks on white people….the Lammy’s, the Abbotts, the Hirsches and the rest…..Abbott has the scary smack of Mandela about her, Winnie not Nelson, whilst Lammy reminds me of those black South African politicians who shout ‘Kill the Boers’.

What if one day they held the whip hand…literally? As unrestrained as they are in their racist rhetoric now about white people how much more so when in control? South Africa….Whites ‘will know their place when we come into power….you are visitors here…and the long stay of visitors depends on their conduct…be warned’

Funny though how the BBC doesn’t pick them up on their blatantly racist language and inflammatory, divisive, hate-filled rhetoric.

At 3:30…..Marr raises the subject not to challenge but the reverse…to give Lammy’s claims the oxygen of publicity…..

Just how dangerous is the BBC narrative about the Backstop as it practically encouraged the mindset that there would be justification for the IRA to start murdering people #duetobrexit?

Well it looks to have cost a journalist her life….ironically in a ‘show of strength’ by the IRA intended to shape that narrative even more along those lines as MTV was filming a programme with the BBC’s Reggie Yates in NI about how Brexit had ‘inflamed tensions’ adopting the same BBC narrative.

‘A gunman aiming to kill police shot the 29-year-old journalist in the head after he fired indiscriminately during disturbances in the Creggan estate.

Presenter Reggie Yates had been filming an episode for his new eight-part series called Reggie Yates vs The World ‘focusing on how Brexit has reignited tensions in Northern Ireland’, reports the Sunday Times.

A Snapchat picture seen by the newspaper shows the BBC Three presenter near the junction where Ms McKee tragically lost her life just hours before.

One community worker told the Sunday Times: ‘Tensions had been rising in the area and there is a strong belief that they were being stoked by dissidents for the benefit of the film crew.”

The BBC’s own toxic reporting, its lies about the necessity for a backstop and its lies about the possibility of a ‘smart border’, have contributed to the death of fellow journalist Lyra McKee.

The BBC has stoked tensions and inflamed the situation with its fake news, irresponsible ‘journalism’ and anti-Brexit prejudice.

‘“Waves of migration and globalised culture washed among us, eroding our sense of self… but the self-confidently multi-ethnic, liberal, urban class… barely noticed.”

Trouble is he’s not alone….Newsnight in 2018 reminded us of the damaging effects of mass immigration of ‘alien’ peoples who bring with them beliefs, values and politics that are incompatible with the West’s…

‘Western democracies are struggling, the social cohesion on which our political consensus is founded has shattered giving way to ideological diversity and undermining our national sense of belonging….we are less defined by economics but more by identity.

Odd though how such a narrative is ‘Far-Right’ when out of the mouths of anyone else….and curious that the BBC recognises ‘identity’ trumps economics…so why is it focussing solely on economics when it frames the debate on Brexit when the vote was about ‘identity’…sovereignty and control.

Laughably the cowardly Marr backs down and squeals that he has‘ “not a shred of anti-immigrant feeling” ‘

The Sun tells me that 40% of Tory Councilors back the Brexit Party and 75% want May to resign, much to her “dismay.”

The Sun also tells me that Corbyn mocked captured British troops during a rally in 2005 and that the incomparable Dianne Abbott was filmed drinking alcohol on an “overground” train.

In a sane society, the likes of Corbyn and Abbott would only ever operate underground, in the shadows where they belong.

(I should add that the Sun did not shower Abbott with sympathy as did other alleged publications – which fact my esteemed colleagues pointed out elsewhere on this thread.)

This brings me to the horrendous prospect of a Labour government, quite likely since the Tories seem more split and damaged than Labour and both UKIP and Brexit are likely to attract more disenchanted Tory voters than Labour voters.

A pessimist would say, if you can see light at the end of this tunnel you’re facing the wrong way.

Perhaps a realist would also say the same.

Marr is retweeting a C4 attack on Leave.EU claiming that they faked stories about migrants…

Trouble is C4 don’t give us anything like the full story on the photographs…just their own interpretation of events and the intention behind them. Were they posed and if so what was the context, how was this to be ‘sold’? If sold as genuine then maybe C4 has a case on the photos, but if they were posed as examples of what happens then hardly so….the BBC does this all the time.

With the boat smuggling in migrants C4 has no case whatsoever. The intent of the film was clear…to show how open Britain’s borders are to people smuggling….the fact that the ‘migrants’ were not actually migrants is irrelevant…the fact is they were able to bring them across the Channel and drop them off at a British port unchallenged.

C4 claims the boat log shows it never happened…but the film shows them being picked up in France….did they swim back across? The log actually shows the boat crossing and re-crossing the Channel….why do that if faking a crossing?

Looking at the C4 video it looks like someone has been altering the dates on the log….look at the ones for Folkestone and you’ll see full date and time…2016-06-17 09:52 UTC….on the Channel crossing some information is missing…it’s either the day or the time…..2016-06-18.44 UTC. The Channel crossing was in daylight so the time cannot be 00:44….and the two 0’s should be there anyway if that was the time. So is the ’18’ the date or the time ie 18:44? If not the date was that because the boat crossed on the 17th and dropped off the ‘migrants’ as said?

Is C4 faking its story and manipulating the data to fabricate yet another hatchet job on Banks and Brexit? Cock up or conspiracy?

Not as if Campion was wrong…as C4 tell us…lol….

‘You could land here quite unnoticed and obviously people do….’

So what was wrong with the premise of the Leave film exactly?

I notice the Mail has an article by someone called John Gray, calling UKIP a ‘ hard, far-right’ party which has ‘more in common with European neo-Fascist parties’.
I bet this little boy would have a hard job even trying to explain what ‘Fascist’ means, let alone analysing UKIP policy.
No doubt it will have something to do with being not ‘open’ or ‘tolerant’ or ‘diverse’ enough, and Mr G will be paying lip-service to e.g. border control, without serious consideration of implications of the relevant policies of the ‘centre’, he so much loves. Give him credit though, he has detected that, under J Corbyn, Labour has become more ‘extreme’. That’s a relief; I initially thought Gray was going to tell us he was a solid ‘centrist’.
I suppose Nigel is now ‘the centre’, to where he has graduated from his former position of ‘far right’?
    Bet Mr Gray is pleased..
Now if I were tempted to buy a copy of the Mail, I should imagine it would make a good bin-liner. Serious political analysis is certainly going to be found elsewhere.

Is it not the Democrats who were colluding with the Russians…Clinton who received millions of dollars from Russia. The BBC’s own Paul Wood actually tells us that the information came from Russian intelligence…and yet doesn’t think that odd at all…

‘Claims about a Russian blackmail tape were made in one of a series of reports written by a former British intelligence agent. As a member of MI6, he had been posted to the UK’s embassy in Moscow and now runs a consultancy giving advice on doing business in Russia. He spoke to a number of his old contacts in the FSB, the successor to the KGB, paying some of them for information

Huh? What? The KGB kindly provided the ‘kompromat’ or at least the claims…lol.

‘Breaking news is just off the wires at the BBC.

It appears the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, was willing to go the extra mile to ensure he would appear to be a close ally of Donald Trump in public last year:

Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, received a secret payment of at least $400,000 (£300,000) to fix talks between the Ukrainian president and President Trump, according to sources in Kiev close to those involved.’

      – Scotland’s peak was 23.4C (74F), in Edinburgh, while in Wales the hotspot was Hawarden Airport in Flintshire, which reached 23.2C.
      – Northern Ireland beat a 95-year-old record when the mercury hit 21C at Helen’s Bay near Bangor.
      – England’s highest temperature so far has been 25C – in Wisley, Surrey – just shy of the record of 25.3C.”

Given that Easter Sunday is on a completely different date every year, but is very late this year (the internet tells me it can be any date between 22nd March and 25th April) it shouldn’t really be surprising that temperatures this year are higher than usual on an Easter Sunday. I also note that the new Welsh “record” was at an airport, which surely makes it a rather dubious record? And it isn’t the record in England.

What I would like to know (can anyone tell me?) is whether today’s temperatures have set a record for 21st April or for April generally? If neither, then the “Easter Sunday record temperatures” claim would start to look a bit limp.//
