Start the Week Open Thread 28 January 2019

This week we are likely to witness the subversion of democracy both by denial of a clear brexit and a parliamentary speaker bypassing Her Majesty’s Elected Government .

The bias of the BBC supporting this coup will show it up for the corrupt swamp it is part of .

I keep reading about the scale of Theresa May’s defeat in the House of Commons after she put her Brexit deal to the vote. The Biased Broadcasting Corporation was quick to point out that it was the worst defeat since the Stoneage. However, one thing that it didn’t draw attention to (amazingly) was that 98.8% of Labour MP’s voted against the deal and in so doing clearly exacerbated this ‘catastrophe’. May possibly underestimated Labour. She thought perhaps that they would vote as they felt, or as their electorate felt and not as instructed by the party leader. How wrong she was and no-one can convince me that 98.8% of Labour MP’s were against the deal. They were sheep and toed the party line. Let them learn a sharp lesson when the next local campaigning for election begins. People have loooong memories. Far from doom-mongers announcing the Tory party is finished, I believe that Labour have totally shot themselves in the foot here by not playing by the Queensberry rules. Let’s see what happens on Tuesday!

      how ?
She knew the deal was so bad that nobody would like it , and ‘losing’ would let her waste time, booting the can down the road .

      • chancygardner says:

Well a couple of hundred Tory mp’s liked it so that’s hardly ‘nobody’. I don’t adhere to this notion that she is wasting time either. She may have been testing the water to see whether mp’s on both sides were independent of thought and found out that Labour mp’s were not but wasting time? Really? Come on. I expect to read that sort of claim on the Biased’s HYS but not on here.

No idea what HYS is, nor why people use obscuring acronyms

When May was Home Secretary she swore ’till she was blue in the face that she was going to get net migration down to 100,000 a year, whilst in fact doing the opposite, and letting record numbers in .
This masterclass in bullshitting was her audition for the role of

Teach them to iron their entire bodies, then when they thin enough, teach them how to put themselves in a one way envelope back to the country they invaded us from. As the bbbc doesn’t give little or no air time to these backwards traditions from different cultures surely they wouldn’t mention the bodies folded into envelopes.

Scare Story #3458924523564286 Brexit bad .

If we crash out without a deal , BBC will be unable to get soft loans from the EU .

The BBC reports that without the cash that’s circulated back to them from taxpayers , more pensioners will lose their over 75 total rebate and goons will have to visit to threaten them .
A BBC spokesperson who had transgendered surgery last week said to maintain high quality scare stories there was a need to fund the funding gap , which is in the Sierra mountains . Another Beeb spokesman corrected this to say the funding gap isn’t a geographical location but the difference between what they think they should get out of the proletariat and what normal people think .
Another BBC spokes animal pointed out that people didn’t know what they were voting for . ” Brexiteers never pointed out on the side of a bus that old people would die of hypothermia because they would have to spend their Winter Fuel Allowance on a TV licence instead ” . ” Bastards ” .
Another BBC spokesperson ( with corporation medical insurance but having gender realignment on the NHS ) said the corporation would need to make some cuts . ” We might have to close down Salford and move back down to London , just when we discovered it’s not bad in the North after all. They’ve got a gay area ” .
A senior BBC spokeswoman who was born a man said ” we realise it might be difficult for the over 75s to pay , so we are considering spreading the cost . They can hand over the deeds to their house and we’ ll collect on their demise .”
A super senior BBC spokesman who has always been male because he missed choosing his gender at six said ” the BBC has some new and exciting scare stories coming up . A No Deal that is successful would be a big disappointment .!”

TWatO today (R4 @1pm) was amazing, not just because of the massive scare piece transported from some UK supermarkets to us by Simon Jack, referred to by Stew Green – appropriately – above.

The interview with Baroness Eliza Manningham Remain-Buller was very revealing. She came on like Simon to take part in Project Fear no. something or other, version. after the one before today. Any kind of Brexit but especially a No-Deal one would harm the UK’s security. London Anti-terror Policeman Neil Basu was praised for his statement last week. Unfortunately the Baroness had not listened to (or understood?) what he said. The terror suspects were already here. We didn’t need the intel that being in the EU provides. We need to monitor and stop them because they are here and known to us.

Ah, well the European Arrest Warrant is so useful. We will lose that if we Brexit. Spain mentioned, also Italy. One example where Italy provided a super-fast extradition of one person. Didn’t mention the months it took for the Belgians to get a terrorist back from France last year. Or the months – or was it years – it took to extradite Brit criminals from Spain back to UK. Or the intel failures of criminals coming to the UK from other Member States who then go on to commit crimes here. No mention either of the terrorists WHO WERE ON POLICE WATCH LISTS on the European mainland who committed terrorist acts there.

To think this woman used to run MI5! It makes me shudder that one so apparently dim could rise to the top of that job.

Never mind, Baronness Eliza Manningham Remain-Buller is no longer in that job. She is troughing it at a Uni somewhere as well as the House of Lords. The Baronness changed tack. “Brexit will be bad for scientific research. It will prevent PhD students coming to the UK because they are not paid £30,000.”

True. But what about the research they do when here? If it is with the Philosophy Prof, Jennifer Saul, at Sheffield, then I doubt it has much value. Or if it is the equivalent of the group at Uni of York, Toronto and Madison-Wisconsin, who decided from research that if the globe warms then ice will not form on lakes and people will not be able to skate on them. Yes. Honest! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-47029482 It is on the BBC, so it must be true, eh, Covington High?

And anyway, are not employers in the UK CONSTANTLY saying we need to increase the knowledge and skills of our UK young people for our future workforce. So why import PhD students? Use our own!

It is scary that someone in the House of Lords could be so unaware of the real world. Or was she just there on TWatO to scare? Sarah hinted that the Baroness might be inclined toward Remain but she did not directly question her on that.

    I wonder why?

Well, the 1pm News and TWatO was a bit upside down today, so Sarah Montague was probably disoriented. The BBC could not decide whether Shackleton explored the Arctic or Antarctic as they relay news of the search for his lost ship.

At the moment, Emails talk about British University Administrators preventing PhD students and other scientists with PhD’s coming to the UK because they might talk about Planetary Atmospheric Physics on University property. British Universities not being a safe space for free speech any more.

They may talk about the German scientist Gerhard Gerlich, who proved directly the “Falsification Of The Atmospheric CO2 Greenhouse Effects Within The Frame Of Physics“. Saying that the CO2 warming formula violates the Second Law of Thermodynamics. But on the other hand, we do have evidence for thermodynamic warming, but without a formula until Ned Nikolov & Karl Zeller introduced the “Unified Theory of Climate” formula for the thermodynamic Greenhouse Effect in 2011. This is why all concluded computer model predictions using the fake CO2 warming formula have been proved false by the Hiatus/Pause/Peak in temperatures this Century. This is also why attempts by Astronomers to calibrate CO2 warming on Mars and Venus have all failed, in fact it is thought that the finding that the temperature on Venus at the altitude that has identical pressure to that on the Earths surface, at 1.176 times the Earths average surface temperature, lead to working out the formula for Thermodynamic warming, this coinciding with a radiating temperature for Venus of 1.176 times that of the Earth, proving that a Carbon Dioxide Atmosphere and a Nitrogen Atmosphere have similar warming properties. This new formula not only explains the Greenhouse Effect on all known Planetary Atmospheres, but also explains the Greenhouse Effect on Earth at the time of the Dinosaurs, providing the solution to why the Earths average surface temperature was much higher, but Solar irradiance being weaker, thus correlating with higher atmospheric pressure. I have heard that the Atmospheric pressure must have been at least double, with air pressure inside the bubbles trapped in Amber reaching a high of 10 Bar, much of the Earths atmosphere being lost to space since this time. This also resolves two other anomalies, which are how a dinosaur’s heart could pump blood 23 feet upwards and how a giant flying Quetzalcoatlus had the energy to stay airborne, something that biology and aerodynamics says is not possible in today’s atmosphere.

If some American scientist with a PhD in Astronomy, Meteorology or Atmospheric Physics has told Donald Trump about this, then that would explain why he calls CO2 warming a hoax. Piers has probably also told his thick brother about this, but with zero effect on the Labour leaders brain.

Gave me a chuckle. So true. Probably. Ta.

On a not totally unconnected subject of ice-skating, it has always puzzled me that HMG & Local Authorities tell me that we are going to fry because of CO2 emissions and they then give the go ahead for all these artificial ice rinks in cities & towns around the UK, not just for winter use but sometimes ALL YEAR ROUND. What is the CO2 output of those likely to be?

        Considerable. Substantial. Colossal. Massive.

        Somewhere on that scale.

I caught a Sky interview earlier this evening by Mark Austen with Helen Dickinson of the BRC who was saying that delays in Calais would cause horrendous shortages of fresh food. To his credit (and my surprise) Austen continually pressed her on the situation repeatedly saying that the Mayor of Calais has said there would be no delays. Compare that with the BBBC Ten O’clock news: another spokesman for the BRC said exactly the same thing about delays at Calais. This being the BBC it went entirely unchallenged. The mistake is perpetuated because unfortunately in some less developed country the BBC still has a residue of prestige – which is fortunately wearing off .

    A senior BBC manager apologises…
“I am a senior BBC commissioning manager (Eton, Balliol) but have chosen to remain anonymous. I am writing to apologise over the inclusion of this article on the BBC website – ‘A photographer’s Trans-Siberian World Cup journey’. When I gave the go-ahead for this piece, I was under the impression that it was about the transgender community and the never-ending discrimination and daily hate that they face in society, of which we hear absolutely nothing. I considered that this article may, in some small way, help highlight the issues and provide some balance.
Had I realised that it was about a train making its way across Russia and showing that it is a scenic country with friendly people living ordinary lives, I would have done no such thing. I therefore apologise profusely.

GW, you have reminded me of the thing I forgot to put in my post yesterday evening about Baroness Eliza Remain-Buller – see further up this Thread.

We are really heading toward a Nazi or Communist Soviet form of life where you listen to the news and then something is perhaps said, just a few words, or two items run together and contrast or conflict, and it inadvertently sheds light on what the system is up to.

So it was with Eliza Remain-Buller. Sarah, in her inertview, did ask about security problems over the NI Border which have been the reason for so much kerfuffle since the last week or so before the EU Referendum up until now. Sarah asked something like “What about the Good Friday Agreement?” and Eliza said quietly and quickly (and probably unintentionally?) “Oh, that has never worked.” Jonathan Powell, Tony Blair’s Chief of Staff, was lionised by the BBC on R4 recently for his part in the GFA. Now we know how good that Agreement was.

So there you have it. From the Head of MI5 during the Troubles and the Good Friday Agreement and afterward: IT HAS NEVER WORKED. The thing that so much fuss was made about by Tony Blair and John Major and then many others since the Referendum result was known, it has never worked.

Maybe David Vance and others in Northern Ireland knew that? Some of us here, elsewhere in the UK, suspected that it might have had a few breaches.

Now someone with authority and knowledge from the inside has said of the Good Friday Agreement – if I heard Baroness Eliza and remembered it correctly – “It has never worked.”

Remainers who are exploiting the GFA to keep the UK in the EU, you should hang your heads in shame.

And give up your cause now!

Cultural appropriation 15th century style…..Leonardo Da Vinci’s drawing of ‘cornrows’?…..

    9100534-6641737-image-m-6_1548709896313.jpg

This from an honest black comentator unlike the Afua Hirschs of this world who seem more intent on weaponising ‘blackness’ and exploiting black people for her own ends…..and the BBC is more than happy to accomodate her and her divisive rantings without challenge….

‘One account claims that dreadlocks originated in India (unlike most who cite Egypt as their birth place) with the dreadlocked diety Shiva and his followers. It is likely that this is the spirituality origin of dreadlocks in Indian culture. However, the first archeological proof of people wearing dreadlocks came from Egypt where mummies have been recovered with their dreadlocks still in tact.

Regardless of their origin, dreadlocks have been worn by nearly every culture at some point in time or another. Roman accounts stated that the Celts wore their hair ‘like snakes’. The Germanic tribes and Vikings were also known to wear their hair in dreadlocks. Dreadlocks have been worn by the monks of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, the Nazarites of Judiasm, Qalandri’s Sufi’s, the Sadhu’s of Hinduism, and the Dervishes of Islam, and many more! There are even strong suggestions that many early Christians wore dreadlocks; most notably Sampson who was said to have seven locks of hair which gave him his inhuman strength.’

Oh and what? Remember, we must respect ‘Dreads’ as unique black cultural artifacts that are closely tied to their religion….if you ain’t black or a Rasta you can’t wear Dreads….

Hmmm…not only are Dreads not ‘Black’ the religion isn’t even uniquely black…it’s a cultural appropriated blend of other religions…

‘At the beginning of the Industrial Revolution The Rastafari Movement began gaining popularity among the Black Jamaican population. The Rastafari draws their beliefs from three main sources; the Old Testament, African tribal culture, and Hindu tribal culture. Before it got the name ‘Rastafari’ its followers called themselves ‘dreads’, signifying their ‘dread’ and respect for God. In an attempt to emulate the Nazarites and Hindu holymen their beliefs were modeled after, they began to wear their hair in matted styles and this is when the term ‘dreadlocks’ came into common use. ‘

Afua Hirsch and Co want a separation of the races, her talk of Black pride and purity of culture and race smacks more of Adolf Hitler than a celebration of diversity. Why does the BBC indulge her and her kind and give them licence to peddle this dangerous rhetoric that is meant to inflame issues and stoke racial tensions?

Yesterday Today introduced a story about the opera ‘Porgy and Bess’….they told us the authors ahd insisted that only black singers could play the parts and this was a problem in Britain…because of course we have race relations act and equality?…er..no. The problem was that there just aren’t enough black opera singers in Britain…and naturally this was due to, according to both the guests, ‘endemic racism’ in Britain…in the institutions, the police, the schools, in government, in business, in the Arts and in society generally. Naturally BBC presenter was fully on-board with that narrative. It’s a completely false narrative, one that the BBC pushes constantly that blacks people are the vitims of whites and that they will never get on unless drastic action is taken against white people.

When you read that Islamists become ‘Islamists’ and take up arms because they were told Muslims are always the victims of the West you have to wonder why the BBC continues to portray black people in Britain as oppressed victims and what they think will happen if they keep prressing those buttons. We all know of course as the BBC did exactly the same with Islam and the Middle East..it is still pressing those buttons especially when it comes to Israel….ramping up the anti-Israel rhetoric portraying Israelis as war criminals and Palestinians as victims….the BBC feeds terrorist narratives knowing full well the consequences…just as it fed the Black activists’ narrative in the US about white police officers ‘executing’ ‘unarmed’ black men which resulted in many murders of police officers. The BBC also fed a similar narrative here….the 2011 riots came out of the narrative that Mark Duggan was ‘executed’ or ‘assassinated’ by the police…the BBC allowing his mother and oters onto the airwaves to push that narrative unchecked.

The BBC causes civil breakdown, violence and racial tensions with its reckless and often deliberate promotion of dangerously sensationalist and provocative narratives based upon race or religion that are designed to whip up anger, resentment and conflict.

BiasedBBC obviously feeling chipper today with looming Brexit delay, enough to let Soper do a hit piece on Trump mocking the idea of a wall.

Sopel asked by what principle will America be defined and quoted the inscription on the statue of Liberty, once tweeted by Comey –

    You get the picture

    • pugnazious says:

Comey, and Sopel, confusing immigration with mass, uncontrolled immigration and also confusing Trump’s desire to control immigration with a narrative that this means no immigration at all….same narrative we get here with Brexit as Remainers claim Britain is drawing up the drawbridge and turning into an island fortress with no links whatsoever to the world when of course Brexit is about the opposite, going out into the world and reconnecting not smothered and stifled by the EU straitjacket.

Sopel completely misleads readers with this nonsense…

‘Is America a country that will be defined by the Statue of Liberty and the poem etched on it, “give me your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”, ask high-minded Democrats.

Or will America be a country defined by a giant wall designed to keep those huddled masses from Central America out. That’s the principle. ‘

The wall is not meant to keep everyone out as Sopel implies just the completely illegal entry of massive numbers of people who decide they want to live in the US and of course no doubt expect to be cared for and provided for by the US and its taxpayers.

More importantly Sopel doesn’t admit that Clinton etc voted for a ‘wall’ and there is already 700 miles of ‘wall’ and that Clinton stated

‘“I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in,” Clinton said “and I do think that you have to control your borders.”

“As president, I will not support driver’s licenses for undocumented people and will press for comprehensive immigration reform that deals with all of the issues around illegal immigration, including border security and fixing our broken system.”’

Funny how the BBC is not keen to quote her on that.

I note this tweet from Sopel…the usual snearing, negative attack on Trump…

‘“You got the invitation You got the right address You need some medication? The answer’s always yes…” We’re here for a rare ⁦@WhiteHouse⁩ Briefing #LALALAND’

So Sopel needs medication to deal with Trump and the Trump Whitehouse is ‘lalaland’. Only medication Sopel needs is a truth serum….Sopel who didn’t mention the BBC’s own part in the poisonous attack on the white, Catholic boys who were smeared by the left-wing media as he gave us an apparent ‘mea culpa’ the other day, not for the BBC of course, telling us there may have been an injustice done to the boys [by the black protestors not the native american elder statesman of course, failing to mention at all the abuse and intimidation the native americans also targeted at the boys…Sople told us the boy put himself ‘right in the face of the native america….just not true….the NA came up to the boy and began drumming right in his face].

However as the piece was heavily slanted against the boys and still painted them as guilty, Sopel claiming they had been mauled ‘but perhaps jusitifiably’, you can see Sopel is shamelessly unprincipled, dishonest and quite prepared to throw some youngsters to the fire because they support Trump and no doubt also because they are against abortion….the BBC being a campaigner for abortion rights.

DB from this site challenged Sopel about the original BBC hitjob on the boys…Sopel replied that as he didn’t write it he had no need to apologise. He’s the BBC’s North American editor….he must have overall control over what goes out and ultimately takes responsibility for it. Clearly not ‘slopey shouldered’ Sopel….the man who stabbed his own colleague, Humphrys, in the back over the equal pay joke.

To all of these mps who think the electorate is too stupid to vote on leaving the eu (like eee-vet who has a constituency that voted 70% to leave but she knows better)

If we are too thick to understand Brexit then by the same reasoning we must be too thick to understand when voting in general elections.
Do we all know the intricacies of interest rates, foreign aid, civil law, pensions and thousands of other reasons to vote a particular way. I would say we know as much about the eu as we do in local and general elections. Usually a couple of big reasons is why we vote for a certain party such as the nhs or tax. Same with leaving the eu where sovereignty and immigration plus some other main reasons were the driving force behind the vote to leave.

If they cannot accept our instruction to leave the eu because we are idiots who know nothing then the same holds true for general elections and therefore no government (or mp) is legitimate.
All of parliament needs to be dismissed until every person in the U.K. is educated enough to know everything about everything and then deliver a vote which will be fully informed.

Of course this will never happen because they are happy enough to accept results under their terms but not when it doesn’t suit them such as the eu referendum.
A right slimy lot who wouldn’t be missed.

Stew, could be that McDonalds have made a policy change. Am going back a few years so I could be out of date. Could be the various taxes on air travel have had an impact on them. Certainly, they seem to be fairly inflation proof on some of their items so ruthlessly cutting other costs may keep prices of key burger meals & other mainstay items as low as possible.

But it certainly used to be their policy to fly food stuffs everywhere. Even across the globe. I ate in the first McD’s in the ‘Communist World’ (in Hungary in 1990) and also remember when the Moscow restaurant opened although haven’t been there. No way they could have sourced the stuff locally back then.

The sanctimonious little prig that is Nihal has got the uber friendly and pleasant Ben Fogle riled up by claiming Fogle was mean about his dog….

”You will be hearing from my lawyers’: Ben Fogle threatens to sue BBC Five Live’s Nihal Arthanayake for libel in astonishing bust-up over on-air claim that adventurer branded radio host’s Staffie dog ‘dangerous’
TV star Ben Fogle is engaged in an acrimonious Twitter spat and has threatened to sue the BBC and one of its radio presenters after a DJ called Mr Fogle a ‘wrong ‘un’ live on air over a row about dangerous dogs which Mr Fogle insists is a case of mistaken identity.
‘My wife is in Queen’s Park, right? And she’s with our kids, and our staffie.

‘And this fella, has his kid, and goes up to his kid, and says: “Don’t go near that dog. They’re nasty dogs. Or, they’re dangerous dogs.”

‘My wife is there, with our kids, and with the dog. And he says it so loudly that she can hear him saying it.

‘And from that day on I’ve just been like “nah, that guy is a wrong’un’’

‘I’m not going to tell you it was Ben Fogle.’

Mr Arthanayake’s co-host then broke the news that Mr Fogle was due to present the ITV run-down, to which he replied: ‘You’re kidding me. He was so rude.

‘My wife came back to me and said, “this guy!”. My wife was very upset.’

Unfortunately Fogle insists it wasn’t him…Nihal says it happened nine years ago….as Fogle’s kids are 8 and 6 how did he tell them to stay away from the dog?

All his wife knows is the guy looked like Fogle
Nihal must realise that dozens of men look like Fogle
Saying that is WAS Fogle not a lookalike is an extraordinary claim with no extraordinary evidence.
But to the Beeboid mindset proper evidence is not necessary, you just run with the extraordinary claim and shout “racist” at anyone who challenges you.

His work on many subjects is not everyone’s cup of tea, but well worth a gander. Also check out his work on St Jo’s killing.
Hard for me to accept much of the Dando published detail, like why on earth would a pro assasin not have pushed her inside the opened door and done it, or why leave hoping one single bullet was enough…but its a strange case for sure.

I will have a look at R Hall’s analysis, thanks for highlighting it, his analysis of the Mc.Cann saga was something I found very thought provoking.
I seem to remember a BBC report on Barry George, having been cleared of her murder, repeating the idea made elsewhere that Jill Dando was the victim of a Serbian assassin angered by Nato’s war in Kosovo. A position very easy to accept by the BBC who, for several years, aired many dramas that just happened to depict brutal assassins as Serbs.
How the BBC loves its bogeymen.

Interesting article on the BBC news website about the acquittal of Asia Biby the Pakistani Christian who was charged with blasphemy. In the paragraph below the BBC brand an Islamic group far right because they hate all liberal freedoms, a group that have completely opposing views to a group like the EDL who the BBC also brands as far right. I suppose the BBC considers anyone who disagrees with their views as being far right.

Meanwhile, the court ruling will test the resolve of the far right Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistan group, which has conducted a violent anti-blasphemy campaign in the past, though many of its leaders have been under arrest since October when the court first acquitted Asia Bibi
