BBC front page news has the headline: “Banksy’s Port Talbot snow mural attacked by ‘drunk halfwit'”

Going into more detail on this on this important news the BBC tells us: “The mural was not damaged and police ultimately did not attend the incident at about 22:30 GMT on Saturday.”

So the opinion of an unknown security guard, on an unverified “drunken halfwit” who was on on public property, and did not do any damage to this mural, and the incident was not even bad enough to involve the police… merits front page news by the BBC?

This “news” sounds like something that used to come out of the Soviet Union… when they used to report about their “bumper” harvests in every news cast… while the Citizens of that country saw bare shelves in their day to day lives.

Next they will be snatching people off the streets for mentioning Islamic rape gangs… And the media will fail to report on it… this also the kind of thing that used to happen in the Soviet Union.

What a load of absolute clap trap is Eastenders!
Portraying the streets of the East End of London as a little lovely cosy multi culti love fest where everyone gathers as one big happy family and sings carols together. A baby born on Christmas Eve and it’s black with the little girl asking “is that the baby Jesus?” Oh how sweet. It’s a boy! Another one to grow up and join the ever increasing knife crime statistics?
The bbc are in fantasy land. Mary poppins is more realistic!

..come over here as a student ..who now claims he can’t return cos Pak is hostile to him
..and that the rest of his siblings are here on other visas

case #2 of Christian family in Netherlands
\\ Worshippers at a Dutch church have vowed to continue more than six weeks of continuous prayer services “for as long as necessary” to prevent the deportation of an Armenian family.
Bethel church in the Hague is shielding the Tamrazyan family under a Dutch law that prevents police entering a place of worship while a ceremony is in progress. //
      https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/prayers-round-the-clock-for-asylum-family-37q6dq786

      There’s two issues here
#1 whether these Christians are being unfairly treated compared to Muslims
#2 Whether we support the Border dept once they have made a decision

… To me the Armenian family would be better off in Georgia, a Christian country next door
      – Likewise I’m not sure if every part of Pakistan is dangerous to Christians

.. i think actually it’s better for rich countries to accept zero refugees and rather subcontract our allocation to countries who can do the job more cheaply. That would seriously discourage fake refugees ho are really economic migrants.

The principle also has to be that refugees are directed towards countries with similar cultures
ie Muslim refugees should go to Muslim countries
and African Christians ..are better off in safe African countries so that when their home country stabilises they can return.

YOU COULDN’T MAKE IT UP DEPT

Heat the Wok with Andrew Marr (BBC R4 9am, rep 9.30pm) today, talking about ice. Very sage nodding when the problem of Global Warming and Climate Change is mentioned. Finishes with earnest explorer wishing to take CO2 producing aircraft and then CO2 producing boat loads of young people to Antarctica to see it for themselves. No doubt when they post photos on Facebook and Twitter and their Vlogs & Blogs, all their relatives, friends and contemporaries will then want to go there and see it for themselves, producing a whole lot more CO2.

If that was not bad enough …

Chris (Fact-Check) Morris was in charge of The World Tonight. He has an item, after one about political and scientific facts, on the dire future of the planet due to AGW & CC.

“Robin Aitken” In The Noble Liar, a new book about the BBC’s left-wing groupthink Melanie Phillips wrote in the Times

the BBC believes it reflects accepted wisdom, otherwise known as the “centre ground”.
the former BBC journalist, devotes a whole chapter to its bias over Brexit.
During the Brexit negotiations, he writes, although the EU was the main obstacle to progress, BBC journalists respectfully presented the claims by EU apologists as reasonable and true.
The attack-dog treatment was reserved for British ministers (plus, I would add, Brexiteers in general).
Aitken ascribes this to the BBC’s abiding love affair with the EU, rooted in the corporation’s innate internationalism. Over the years, he writes, the BBC has framed the European issue almost exclusively in economic terms and the impossibility of Britain prospering outside the EU.
So it had little interest in the most important objection to membership: the challenge to Britain’s sovereign independence. Anyone who challenges this by supporting no-deal is therefore by definition an extremist.
.. the former head of MI6 Sir Richard Dearlove and the commander of British forces in the Falklands War, Major-General Julian Thompson, published a devastating critique. (of May’s agreement re the military side) ..The two also supported leaving with no deal.
..the BBC did not report it

.. such supporters also include the former chancellor Lord Lawson of Blaby, the former Ulster Unionist leader Lord Trimble, members of Economists for Free Trade and a range of academics and business people.
They are nevertheless written off as marginal, because the belief that no-deal is so obviously worse than any alternative is deemed incontestable.

BBC gets a thorough bashing in the comments
..and Commenter Ian Hislop gets few likes

This is not BBC, nor even TV but it is the same mindset.

Mrs D and myself went to the RSC version of A Christmas Carol a few days ago. Some of it was beautifully done but the script was completely changed to fulfill SJW standards. I know the story extremely well (I’ve read it dozens of times) so know how hackneyed the script. Repeated lectures on child labour in Victorian times – Dickens was far more eloquent on social issues than these pathetic SJWs could ever be.

Scrooge was turned into a racist – after all in their tiny little minds there is no greater crime than to make a racist comment. There is absolutely nothing whatever about race in the book, Scrooge hated everybody, you could say he was an equal-opportunity hater.. Many of the male characters (but never the bad ones) became women.

There was of course the obligatory anti-Trump joke which fell flat so it was repeated, then some of the audience went hysterical (the thickos needed to be told it twice to understand it despite it being as subtle as a sledgehammer) although many did not react in the “right” way I’m pleased to say. There was loads of changes to the plot it generally made things worse.

I could make a whole list of these changes and SJWing but the point is why do these lefty-fascists always ruin things for other people! Not everything needs to be politicised even if you are an SJW.

Still Merry Christmas and God Bless us every-one.

      Dickens the famous anti-racist ?
Scrooge is not down as a Jewish character, but In a Christmas Carol this was Marley .. who is Jewish … who is bogged down in chains and suffering for his greed that he had during his lifetime.
..and there’s obviously Fagin .. master criminal who kept the pickpockets working and in line.

This RSC adaption was by David Edgar “playwright and veteran anti-racist campaigner”..It’s not new it dates to Feb 2017 ..Dec 2017 review
      – There aren’t many tweets praising this 2018 season.
      His Guardian articles

What did he think of the murder of Lee Rigby ?

BTW in April the RSC & libverse exploded at Quentin Letts when in a play review he said

“was Mr Wringer cast because he is black? If so, the RSC’s clunking approach to politically correct casting has again weakened its stage product. “I suppose its managers are under pressure from the Arts Council to tick inclusive boxes, but at some point they are going to have to decide if their core business is drama or social engineering.”

What about the stupidity on marching onto Kensington Council, creating a riot and what exactly was that meant to really achieve?

I have only recently become reluctantly aware of how biased the BBC is because all my life I had believed that it could be trusted. The methods used by the BBC protect their biased asses are quite subtle and rely on at least two strategies:
On any news subject BBC reporting is broken down into multiple reports and one of these will contain a fair summary of all the facts. The rest of the reporting however will pick out whatever of these facts suits its world view and promote it.
Another strategy, used over the holidays, is where a short report was broadcast in this case about how liberal ideology in Sweden is failing. Of course, this would have gone unnoticed by most, but the BBC can always refer to it in the future to protect themselves.

Why does it need to broadcast across the EU? Surely the docile majorities in the EU are already full onboard with the sort of pro-EU and SJW propaganda that the BBC wants to indoctrinate them with.

Not surprised at this. Erdogan is hoping to be the new Sultan of a revived Ottoman Empire. He already has one foot in Germany, which no other Ottoman Sultans have ever achieved.
Into Syria now, allegedly in pursuit of the Kurdish ‘militants’, the PKK, in the Manbij area.
Psst, don’t say a word about the Turkish genocide against Armenians, big secret.
      Don’t even think about Constantinople.
The Turks are always peace-loving people, who just happen to be a wee bit expansionist.
Next target: EU Good progress being made. He is a big buddy of that masterful strategist, Ms Merkel, since she paid him 6 billion Euro to enforce the German border, by holding back the millions of ‘migrants’ waiting in Turkey.
Hope Assad kicks Erdogan’s backside in Syria.
      Will look for reliable sources.
There is a bit on “Sputnik”, but not up to date.

A possible German-Ottoman alliance is one reason I wanted us out of the EU. I don’t want Germany dragging us in to that kind of dangerous alliance. Britain could/should have been a resistor-nation to that kind of power base.

I have a feeling the UK has been in favour of Turkey joining the EU, which it would dominate, demographically-speaking.
An Ottaman-German alliance could well be different from the past, with the Ottomans leading and the Germans obeying. Merkel and her grand alliance government have been showing every sign of playing second fiddle to the Turks, who have completely outwitted Merkel.
Erdogan has had a free hand to whip up millions of Turks living in Germany for his own purposes, and most of them appear to remain Turks first and Germans second.

If Islam is trying to get into Europe in a big way, the bridgehead is already there- in Germany.
Apologies, some duplication seems to have occured.

Congratulations to R4 (I don’t often find myself saying that, but praise where it’s due). Their lunch-time bulletin took the government to task for failing to protect British shores against the ‘migrant’ invasion by little boats. It quoted Dover MP, Charlie Elphicke, to the effect that the Home Office and other relevant authorities (Border Force?) were not being effective at all. Just for a brief moment there, it seemed the text had been written by the bbc of old.
By comparison, an evasive lunchtime beeb TV1 news bulletin made it sound like a jolly outing was being had by all, and the weather was possibly spoiling it for the ‘migrants’.

I have no problem with saving those in little dinghies just as long as all those saved are immediately returned to France and the boats destroyed.
Keeping them here gives out the message that soft touch Britain will give you everything, will not deport you and illegal entry is accepted. That in turn will encourage more to make the trip.
With our government I have absolutely no faith that they will return them and can only see increasing numbers with many dying in the attempt.

      Also

With our rapidly diminishing Forces here’s a suggestion to save some money.
Instead of spending billions to attack enemy airfields we should get a couple of hundred drones which will ground the enemy airforce as has been shown at Gatwick.

Emmanuel – Nobody wants to see anybody drown, but do you really think all those saved will be returned to France? Doubt it.
I know of cases where people doing it all legally from abroad, job available, paperwork done, visas applied for, etc were rejected.
So why should anyone trying to enter illegally be allowed to set foot here? They too, had the option of applying legally.

Fake News? Shirley Williams’ memories of the 1975 EEC Referendum do not align with mine. ‘All about peace.’ No Shirley, it was all about Trade, Sovereignty, Law-making and Influence. On and by the way, Shirley, the Viet Nam war did not end in 1974, it ended during the EEC Referendum campaign, in April 1975.

Fake News? Mark Mardell claimed that that 1975 Referendum campaign was a bitterly fought one, with opponents knocking verbal chunks out of each other. I recall it was extremely civilised and think that the archive clip you posted, Mark, proved it.

So to answer the question: is there Fake News on the BBC?

    Yes.

2002: Patras Bokhari Award from the Academy of Letters in Pakistan,

2010: Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for fiction, for Burnt Shadows
2018: Women’s Prize for Fiction, for Home Fire

      – You could not win that last award ..unless you are a woman
      – You could not win the first three awards ..unless you are a Pakistani
      – You could not win that Anisfield-Wolf award ..unless you write something making an “important contributions to the understanding of racism” (by which they probably mean conforming to groupthink, I’d guess few white male conservatives have ever won it.

MH is bonkers where are all the injured people from “right wing” terrorism.
There are probably more living victims like blinded or limbs lost due to animal rights terrorism.
Whereas Islamist terrorism is a whole different magnitude
..For British people there is a risk of being injured in Islamist terrorism when they go to London or a concert, or a European city or beaches like in Egypt or Tunisia
..vs nothing for far right attacks.

MH is being very disrespectful to victims of Islamist terror by playing it down, particularly those with life changing injuries who often forgotten as the dead are remembered.
I searched for proper stats ..ecen the HOC reposts don’t list the injured
The Wikipedia page does list initial injured say 512 for Manchester Arena, but doesn’t break that down into “life changing injuries”

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all esteemed colleagues on this fine site!!

The time of year made me reflect on a blog I used to comment on years ago written by Dr. Laurie Roth, committed Christian, tae kwon do black belt, counsellor, radio talk show host, Trump supporter and musician/singer/songwriter.

I recall a story she told at a time when the insidious anti-Christian assault in the US was really arousing her ire as companies would instruct their workers never to mention Christmas and use the pathetic ‘happy holidays’ instead. So when she went to her supermarket she cheered the girl at the till up with a hearty “Merry Christmas.”

I just Googled her and was glad to see that she is still going strong.

Can’t link at the moment but anyone interested can Google Laurie Roth column.
