Weekend Open Thread 8 December 2018

The petition to request a parliamentary examination/debate of the poisonous UN migrants treaty had exceeded the required 100000 to get noticed. Silence on the subject is deafening from the Far Left BBC as well as the politicians who are meant to be representing – us .

For those expressing their now limited freedom of expression by marching this weekend good luck . The BBC is peddling the ‘no brexit’ option as the chosen outcome of current parliamentary nonsense . This writer want ‘no deal’ – they can sort out any mess afterwards because they will simply  have to.

BBC on the rival marches between the racists for Brexit and the good anti fascists.

Weyman Bennett, of Stand Up To Racism and one of the counter-protest organisers, said: “I believe that the majority of people in this country reject fascism and racism.
“There’s deep concern in Britain about the growth of the far right in this country, under the guise of Tommy Robinson and UKIP.”
He added: “We are excited about the amount of women organisers, Muslim groups and trade unions that have come out.

The BBC love Weyman Bennet of the SWP.

I find it interesting with the BBC Newspaper front pages on their web-site how they frequently seem to put up ones with something ‘interesting’ but they are completely out of focus.

    I wonder why?

I believe the eminent Dover Sentry asked about Guest Who, a long-time regular here who has produced so many fine comments and links to happenings of importance.

We crossed swords over the swearing debate and my deletion of some comments, including his.

I hope he hasn’t been driven away from the site because his contributions are really valuable.

Also, annunaki is conspicuous by his absence perhaps for the same reason.

Grant is also missed on this team.

      True ,
The other one who went missing is the one who just did ‘cut And paste ‘ criticism but never expressed an opinion of its own – maxi ? I think . … it performed some function by people disciplining their thoughts sometime but was no great loss.

It’s a pity people withdraw from commenting because of the ‘swearing’ issue . I use a lot of rude words when I am riding my motor scooter but that’s because people in cars try to kill me ( I drive a car too sometimes ) .

By the way _Truetoo – I’ve scetched out the nominees for the “biased personality ‘contest and would be grateful if you looked at the draft post . I want to put it out soon as the BBC lack of personality winner is due soon . Surely it’s gotta be ‘raheem’ as they love a ‘victim’ – even one who is a multi millionaire…

Thank for the explanation, TT, although I didn’t think Guest Who used language that couldn’t be used in front of my Mum (or me). I know I use this site to let off steam, but I didn’t really like words relating to a woman’s anatomy. I sometimes substitute ‘Jew ‘ for ‘Muslim ‘ in some comments to consider if they are fair, or would I be upset if that comment was said to my face. Some comments can sometimes go too far. I did always give Pounce some leeway, as he explained the reasons for his short fuse, and I add him to the ones I miss here.

But tonight on the BBC we appear to have a lighthearted drama about Care. Mr D read me the synopsis and I prefer silence and a ticking clock. Why does the BBC think that the crisis a family goes through when a family has to put someone into care makes good family viewing? It will be interesting what the viewing figures for this programme are in due course.

        Deborah,

I found it strange. It was out of character, almost as if someone else had taken over Guest Who’s computer.

Yes, pounce made a really good contribution, notwithstanding his short fuse.

Substituting Jew for Muslim to detect bias? Problem with that is Muslims really are trying to take over the world!

Raheem Sterling getting some abuse…racist allegedly.

Sterling blames the Press for writing stories about him and other black players in terms he doesn’t like and thus supposedly inciting and encouraging racism from fans.

The BBC, and of course all the other virtue signallers, are all over this….they have been waiting for the chance. Listen to 5Live’s Talksport and you’ll know Matthew Syed has for a long time constantly harped on about supposedly negative Press stories about Sterling being due to racism….presumably he’s calling the writers racist then. Trouble is much of the criticism of his play, and of his public persona is justified….get an assault rifle tattooed on your leg at a time when so many black kids are being killed by guns and knives maybe expect some criticism…and most of the alleged negative stories are no such thing merely Press interest in an England star which are entirely harmless…..like his going to Gregg’s or travelling by Easyjet when he could afford far more expensive things….it’s just an amusing story for the Press not criticism in those cases….the bulk of the story in each case was praise for him.

So are many stories, the infamous ones, really ‘negative’?…and just why does the BBC ascribe any perceived negativity to racism on the writer’s part? Surely that indicates more the BBC journalist’s own prejudices and bias, against Tabloid papers and favouring black people, than anything else. The BBC says…

‘Sterling has frequently found himself at the centre of attention throughout his career, most recently for a tattoo of a rifle on his leg earlier this year.

That followed criticism for proposing to his girlfriend, purchasing clothes at high-street chain Primark, and even for buying his mother a house.’

How about the one where The Sun called Sterling ‘obscene’ for buying his mum a house. Hang on, no they didn’t, they reported others calling him obscene because as he returned in defeat from an England match a video was posted on the internet of him boasting about the house and his fleet of supercars…which he called ‘My winning team’…hardly diplomatic when you’ve just lost an England match and you’re still wearing your England team shirt.

    Here’s The Sun’s story…

‘my team winning’ England flop Sterling enrages fans after Iceland humiliation by showing off blinging house and fleet of supercars

‘ENGLAND flop Raheem Sterling flaunted his millionaire wealth — in a video posted just hours after arriving home in disgrace after being dumped out of Euro 2016 by Iceland.

The £49 million Manchester City winger laughed as he took pals on a Through The Keyhole-style tour of a luxury mansion — boasting about it having a crystal-encrusted bathroom sink.’

The proposal? Hmmm…after bedding a prostitute and complaining about her fee and spending a lot of time in the company of a Playboy model…….seem to remember the not-so black Wayne Rooney getting plenty of stick for something along those lines many times not to mention his hairline.

‘Raheem Sterling pays prostitute for sex on US tour — and is branded a ‘cheapskate’ after he rowed over £3,000-a-night fee’

Primark? Er…his girlfriend posted it all online herself…..here’s The Sun’s story…it’s not negative at all…in fact you could say it was positive…

Raheem Sterling picks up bargains at Primark with girlfriend Paige Milian despite his £180k-a-week wages

His girlfriend is the one to raise questions about why they were shopping at Primark…

‘Paige has explained her shopping habits in an online blog

She said: “I’m not gonna lie: I love a bargain.
“Some of you are probably thinking: Why are you going on about Primark? Is she trying to prove something? Primark is my favourite shop, it has been since I was a kid.

“I know I’m wearing Gucci on my feet now but it doesn’t mean my outfits have to be Gucci from head to toe.
“Primark, that’s my life. I don’t care what anyone says.”’

Then we move up to date and Sterling’s claims about how the Press write about black and white players contrasting when Phil Foden bought his family a house and when Tosin Adarabioyo did the same.

    Here’s the Mail’s headine for Foden…

Manchester City starlet Phil Foden buys new £2m home for his mum

And here’s the one for Adarabioyo…

Young Manchester City footballer, 20, on £25,000 a week splashes out on mansion on market for £2.25million despite having never started a Premier League match

Read both reports and neither one is negative…Sterling claims the headline for Adarabioyo is negative and incites racism. In fact it merely states the truth and is just a minor expression of the surprise many fans might feel when a player is so obviously rich but hasn’t played in the Premiership team yet. Foden on the other hand had played for Man City in the Premiership and Champion’s League…he was also the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2017 and FIFA’s best under-17.

Foden had cemented his position with his performances whilst Adarabioyo han’t yet proved himself completely with Man City…hence the headline….not racism just fact.

One month after that story the Mail prints this glowing report…

Manchester City starlet Tosin Adarabioyo at centre of tug-of-war between England and Nigeria

Seems Sterling and the BBC pick and choose what stories they want to use and weaponise and how to interpet them in a way useful to their own narrative…a way no sensible person would interpret them.

Sterling playing the race card for his own reasons and the BBC, and the Guardian, for theirs….note the papers they criticise…The Sun and The Mail…the old enemy.

Sure the England whinger won’t like this then….

Am reminded that in their R4 8am News, the BBC informed me that Russia is linked to two more killings of Russians in the UK. We already knew that months ago.

What is rather more interesting is the complete lack of BBC News &&CA interest in the investigations into those murders by our Police.

BBC to make a statement? James Purnell to be sacked? The DG to resign?

    I won’t hold my breath.

This is an extract from an article by Bruce Newsome:-

Theresa May increasingly looks like a demagogue who treats democracy like a naïve lover whom she can alternatively abuse or flatter.

She flattered with her determination to fulfil the popular will for Brexit that was expressed in June 2016, but in the following two years she remained evasive, unclear, or contradictory about what Brexit means. (Her commonest mantra that “Brexit means Brexit” is circular and thus means nothing.)

In the process, she enabled the myth that Brexiteers didn’t know what they were voting for. Now, all the options that are sold as Brexit look more like Remain, with the only true Brexit option mischaracterised as “no deal,” “crashing out,” and “falling off a cliff.”

Back in 2016, everybody was quite clear that leaving the EU meant leaving the single market, customs union, European Court of Justice, and every extenuation and entanglement.

The then prime minister (David Cameron) made clear that a vote for leave was a vote to leave the EU entirely (on the day after the vote, he added). He kept making this clear…..

The government must be desperate for a ‘big story’ to take the heat off of the brexit vote before Tuesday . Be interesting if they contrive something ….

At least that severely dented can can’t be kicked down the road any more …. I’m still betting David Davis for next PM as a remedy for the ‘anyone but boris ‘club.
