I must admit to not realising that there are two UN Migration Compacts running in parallel. It is the other one that the Government’s response relates to. So, read the Response and ask yourself (para 7):
“It does not establish a ‘human right to migrate’ or create any new legal categories of migrant. It explicitly stresses that migrants are entitled to the same universal human rights as any human being, and that these are different to the legal protections available to refugees.”
The Government are clearly referring to the ‘other’ Compact as I can’t find the quoted passage in the actual Compact or even statements in any way compatible.

G, I was thinking of migration rather than emigration. After all, if hordes of migrants from the third world can swamp the first world then it’s only fair that people can also go in the opposite direction.

The government are considering immigration proposals from the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) that would expose millions of jobs currently held by UK workers to new or increased competition from a huge pool of overseas candidates. As it has been recommended that the current work permit limit be scrapped, this risks a very significant rise in immigration at a time when voters are clear that they want a significant reduction. Since the EU referendum, some business and employer lobby groups have raised concerns that the current level of the cap was not allowing them to fill vacancies from abroad. Not from Europe but the real problem is from outside Europe-Middle East/Africa/Indian Sub Continent with particular emphasis on those who follow the teachings of Islam. If we do not address the significant rise in Islamic enrty into the UK already at alarming rates of development the UK will see its indigenous peoples swamped, washed away from their own native country. Weak political action over many years on the migration issue will come home to haunt us for sure.

I have been reading Sean Gabb’s “Radical Coup : A Case for Reaction”. It’s an update of a book he wrote in 2007 (it’s available on Kindle Unlimited if you’re a subscriber).
It’s still very relevant and well written. Gabb is a libertarian and still writes lots of articles on the web and (I think) still appears on TV now and again.
Up until 3 or 4 years ago I’d probably have described my political outlook as ‘libertarian right’. Now I’d likely vote for any new party that was a coalition of groups that included the Devil, Ghengis Khan and any other mad buggers that wanted to topple the current set of parliamentary scoundrels.

Some may remember after the French elections I was making the outlandish accusation that the result seemed to have been manipulated to suit the great and the good at the EU, with the support for LePen seeming to fade all of a sudden. After recent events it would seem that perhaps Macron wasn’t as popular at the polling station as the authorities would have had us believe. Deep State or have I been reading far to much into it.
Most elections within the EU are manipulated. With the manifest rise of what is termed populism throughout Europe, the fact that Wilders, Le Pen and Farage have been denied a mandate is not a coincidence. Only Italy seems capable of breaking the political mould, though Austrians, Hungarians, Czechs and Poles have already decided on their futures – only the EU commission seems unable to accept the fact.
The Baltic States will be next, then Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Spain and Portugal while Greece will be the first to leave the euro.
Brexit is actually almost a sideshow with what lies ahead – with Les Gilets Jaunes providing the cabaret, kicking off tomorrow.

An interesting bit of news that is kept from us. The Spanish trainmaker Talgo has decided to open a plant in Scotland . It has only decided this after we voted to leave. It also wants to source most of the engineering here. Rather than import it.
Of course I would rather it was a British firm doing this but it is still good news.
In contrast that behemoth of Germany Siemens has never wanted a plant here despite earning fortunes from us for it’s trains.
These railways contracts coming up are worth billions. Out of the EU we could exert real pressure and control over who gets what as most are taxpayer funded .
Talgo obviously think there is a real opening here. Siemens being German is doing what German industry does best.
I can’t understand why the US doesn’t simply boot the entire UN out of New York and stop paying them another dollar.

I was giving a talk this week to about 50 school children (Year 6 – top class Primary) from a fairly deprived area of the city this week and asked them how many of them watched Strictly. Out of 50 children only 3 put up their hands. We that comment or read the comments on the site fear the Left Wing BBC are very influential but when I saw that response it gives me hope that the BBC is not reaching as deeply as they and we think they are.
Something for the BBC to investigate:
1. How did Brexit become Hard-Brexit?
2. Why has Remain not become Hard-Remain?

Applying today’s media standards to the situation then tells me it was all probably propaganda once again.
Today we have, for now, a better way to keep informed, thankfully.

On 29 November, with others, we published a letter to the Prime Minister. It explained that the Withdrawal Agreement, on which you will shortly be called to vote, threatens to change our national security policy by binding us into new sets of EU controlled relationships.
Buried in the Agreement is the offer of a ‘new, deep and special relationship’ with the EU in defence, security and intelligence which cuts across the three fundamentals of our national security policy: membership of NATO, our close bilateral defence and intelligence relationship with the USA, and the Five Eyes intelligence alliance.
Number 10’s immediate response to our letter showed we had touched a raw nerve. However their rebuttal indicated a worryingly poor understanding of the issues. We repudiate their arguments and their criticism (see below).
The first duty of the state, above trade, is the security of its citizens. The Withdrawal Agreement abrogates this fundamental contract and would place control of aspects of our national security in foreign hands. Vote against this bad agreement.

This morning as I ‘crashed out’ of my bed (got out of bed) I went ‘off a cliff edge’ (entered) to my bathroom and put the radio on to listen to today’s predictions of doom and gloom from the remoaners.
It’s always how bad it’s going to be from the remoaners. I suppose the reason for that is they can find nothing good to say about the eu so attacking leaving is their only option.
Contrast that to us leavers, full of optimism, there’s a whole world out there waiting, freedom, less people piling in giving us benefits such as smaller class sizes, less congested roads, higher wages, decreasing nhs waiting times….. I could fill the page.
So many good things about leaving.

An aggressive, hostile interview by Nick Robinson on Today as he tried to discredit and refute QC Martin Howe’s analysis of May’s Brexit deal. in which he tells us…
‘Politicians who claim that this is just a bad treaty — one we can get out of later — are being ignorant or disingenuous.
Halfway through the 585-page document, we find Art. 185, which states a Northern Ireland Protocol ‘shall apply as from the end of the transition period’. Once the Protocol is in force, the UK cannot leave it except by ‘joint’ decision of the UK and the EU. This gives the EU a right of veto over the UK’s exit. In agreeing to this clause, the government has caved in over seeking a right to leave.
Indeed, the Protocol — which has become known as the ‘backstop’ — locks the whole UK into a customs union with the EU with no decision-making power. ‘
Howe is an expert in EU law and in particular trade and the free movement of goods and services, Robinson on the other hand is a pro-EU hack who isn’t an expert but still thinks he knows best.
All of what Howe says is pretty much accepted and the across the board view of all who comment…except it would seem the BBC. Robinson rapidly raced through his questions cutting Howe off unceremoniously as he made crucial points such as the backstop giving the EU and EU individual countries enormous leverage over the UK…do what we tell you or we refuse a deal and it’s the backstop and never-ending pseudo membership of the EU and eternal vassalage under our rules, still paying us the Danegeld. Robinson signed off the interview in a highly rude, hostile and abrupt manner.
Why did Robinson race through the questions? Because, he informed us, he had an important point to make himself that he needed to get to….that Howe is an ardent Euro-sceptic and we must view his comments in light of this anti-EU hostility. Robinson even dragged up a completely spurious ‘gotcha’ that wasn’t by trying to say Howe had said, decades ago, we would be trapped inside the ERM, but of course we’re not in it any longer…so Howe was wrong then…so he must be wrong now. Except of course the only reason we are out of the ERM was that it all went disastrously wrong. So if Robinson is putting up the ERM as a shining example of deal making with the EU he must be off his rocker.
So the whole point of the interview was really to undermine Howe and his expert, knowledgeable and coherent analysis of May’s disastrous deal.
This is the Nick Robinson who urged us to stay in the EU because, he fraudulently claimed, Churchill, British hero, was the father of the EU and he wanted us to be part of it. The Robinson who has spent the last couple of years attacking Leave and urging on the narrative that we can, should, in some shape or form thwart Brexit…with a vote in Parliament or with a second referendum…how many times have you heard him state that we need that referendum and then, when he thought Remian had win the day, switched to going all out and stating that we can stop Brexit can’t we? His last question to Howe was ‘Do you think it was all worth it?’ Which gives a clear indication of Robinson’s mindset and approach to the subject. No inkling that May’s diabolical deal is the bastard child of the Remainers who have tried, successfully, to waterdown Brexit until it is non-existent [and even now they continue to eliminate all vestiges of Brexit…’Norway’ is us still in the EU, paying money, accepting free movement and all the rules but having little to no say in the making of those rules]…the disaster is all their making. Brexit would have been worth it if we’d been given Brexit….being sold down the river in chains to the EU is not Brexit and so Robinson’s question is completely off-track, extraneous and irrelevant.

I heard a Remoaner MP trying to sell the deal on R4 yesterday and he said we would be free to make trade deals with others..what he didn’t say is that the WA says we can only do this when the EU say we can..

Yep….only when we are out of the transition or backstop…and even then the deal we must do will be on the EU’s terms which are designed to stop us competing with the EU [that ‘level playing field’]….in essence nullifying the basis of Brexit…a Britain free to trade around the world on its own terms….we’d still be tied to the EU and its rules and regulations by default. What other country would accept such onerous and constricting conditions on its own sovereignty? How on earth could a British government get us into this mess? It’s a complete failure to stand up for the British interest, total surrender by a Remain PM who uses the Irish border to excuse her disastrous deal that keeps us in the EU in all but name but under egregiously worse terms than we have already and without that ability to trade for ourselves.

Pug, I heard that interview too. Robinson didn’t miss any chances to state that the QC was a longstanding eurosceptic. By default, R4 only has proEU guests but rarely introduces the guest as a remainer.
Also noticed that when Howe’s articulate response to the first question effectively demolished Robinson’s loaded backstop assertions, Robinson then announced that he was short of time and changed the subject to the attempted ERM “gotcha” which only served to make Robinson look foolish a second time.
A very revealing interview. Howe must have been sorely tempted to physical violence, if they were in the same room. To Robinson, one might say: “Have you listened to yourself? Your bias is unmistakable.”

I avoided the Robinson “interview”.
I am disappointed how unprepared many of the interviewees are. How reluctant they are to take over an interview, silence the Beeboid, and provide the information the audience wants, rather than allow the Beeb version to stand.
Every QC should be able to run rings round any collection of lying Beeboids.
Perhaps some trips to the archives, to see how Beeboids were murdered in the past, is indicated.

No, very worth a listen. Howe put Robinson to the sword and didn’t fold at all under the attack…forced through his points even as Robinson tried to silence him. Howe is a QC and expert in EU law so knows how to argue the subject and stand his ground. Around 07:15 if you want to hear Robinson hung out to dry…..oddly, or not, Robinson doesn’t mention the interview on Twitter but does go on and on about the Rudd interview…done by Humphrys.
Reversing your point I might despair slightly at Humphrys interviewing Rudd [who sounds remarkably, and scarily, like Soubry…full on bluff, bluster, bull and bombast]. Humphrys did put some decent Brexiteer points but let her get away with so much waffle, misdirection and lofty, conceited claims that she knows what Brexiteers think and voted for…despite telling us that she just didn’t buy into the idea that others can speak for the voters. She, you might think spectacularly, stated that we must stop dwelling on the details of May’s deal and the Backstop and we must look at what the people want.
Oh, OK then….let’s do Brexit…which is what the people want as indicated by a majority vote in what was one of the most highly participated in democratic votes in this nations history.

Er….who is it exactly that goes on and on about Brexit and why has it dragged on and on and taken up endless hours of Parliamentary time? It’s the Remainers like Rudd herself who have tried to drag this out and put endless obstacles in the way of Brexit ensuring it takes up massive amounts of government time. All unnecessary if the Remainers had accepted the vote and got behind the British nation and its negotiations, instead of which they undermined the British position and pulled away any leverage we might have. Instead of promoting their hype Robinson should be asking some difficult questions about Rudd and Co’s anti-Brexit manoeuvrings betrayed Britain by peddling a foreign power’s interests rather than the British national interest.
