Weekend Open Thread 24 August 2018

Comrade  Corbyn has declared his support for the rapidly failing BBC but suggested that there be a ‘British digital corporation’ to rival Netflix or Amazon. Meanwhile , back on Planet Earth , the BBC has not commented about the thoughts of a potentially future Prime Minister .

He also seems to want  beeboids to declare their Social Class. Now there’s a giggle . Maybe users of this site should assign a five star system to those appearing on BBC output and have a special category for no class at all…

Q.1) Are all cultures equal? YES|NO

Q.2) Should Charles James Napier have let India’s Suttee to continue – widows jump onto fires when their husbands die to kill themselves? YES|NO

Q.3) Do you still believe all cultures equal? YES|NO

Q.4) If Charles James Napier had NOT stopped India’s Suttee and it cotinued in 2018, would you allow Indians moving to Britain to still practice Suttee as part of their culture in 2018?

Q.3) Do you still believe all cultures equal? YES|NO

“Be it so. This burning of widows (India/suttee) is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.”

No Mr Rompuy, Ireland will leaver the EU followed by Italy then Greece because of the wrong type of “tourists” arriving in those Mediterranean Countries thanks to Ms Merkel.

Millie Dowler would have voted to stay in the EU, Jimmy Savile wanted to leave the EU so the paedos were free to come into the country without having to claim residency in Belgium or Austria.

The BBC has pledged to “raise our game” on religion by increasing the portrayal of all faiths in mainstream shows.

The corporation said it would “enhance” the representation of religion on TV and radio dramas and documentaries.

That’s a good idea. For anywhere that the left allow comments, the comment should always be that Brexit caused it or will prevent it as appropriate. The more ridiculous the better. People would then start treating genuine “Brexit scare” stories like the jokes they really are.

The BBC’s Mark Easton likes to tell us from time to time that there is plenty of space in the UK for more immigrants as only 0.1% of the country is ‘densely populated’. This is a BBC Fake Fact, as Mark Easton has re-interpreted the term Continous Urban Fabric (CUF) to suit his purposes.

CUF is a measure of the land that is imperviously covered, i.e. ‘concreted over’. There is clearly a limit to how great a percentage this can be as ultimately it reduces the amount of groundwater available in an area and increases the need for drainage infrastructure like sewers.

One of the places that Mark Easton’s New Britains might come from are the refugee camps in Africa/Middle East. Most people would say that they were densely populated, as the refugees are herded together in tents or shelters rather than buildings. Yet by the Easton fake measure, because there is nothing to stop any rain from reaching the ground, these camps are not CUF and so can ‘easily’ take many more immigrants!

The most terrifying fear for Champaign Socialists must be the fear of having to buy English sparkling wine due to Brexit.

A state of emergency could be demanded by the House of Lords. The Lords could even demand the return of the Duchy of Normandy. What’s left of the British Army could then be ordered to go to the Channel Islands for an invasion of France. French locals would then doff their hats and shout “Vive la Duchesse!”, to which the Queen would reply “Well, I am The Duke of Normandy!”

Wonder how the death of Millie Dowler could be revisited to stick the boot into Trump?
Only saying this because the nauseating goo that the BBC is pumping over John McCain is only getting spouted because he hated Trump. And Trump rightly despised him in return.
To hear the likes of Obama and the BBC lauding this grasping nomark to the skies is typical of the left. They only like people when defeated and dead.
And his chips are crap, thankfully he`s had his now.

You see? When the BBC big up a stiff, you just KNOW that it`ll all be about surfing the shrouds to get Trump gone, or keep us nailed up on the Frankfurt Gold Cross by the EU.

File under Trump and “nobody loves ya, piss orf”.

If the Catholics have lost 15% of their churchgoers in a years attendances at mass,-as the BBC have done as they slough off Today listeners this last year?-will the BBC be telling us?

Mr McCain was a bad man and I hope that he repented and acknowledged Jesus as his saviour before he died, otherwise he’ll be experiencing global warming first hand.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, I recall that none of his fellow servicemen from Vietnam had a good word to say about him. He sang the praises of his captors on radio and endangered the lives of other servicemen by his reckless behaviour. He sounds more like a coward than a hero ( which is a much overused word) to me.

During the Bathhouse Barry presidency, Mr McCain actively prevented any measures by the USA to protect Christians in Syria; I remember a report of him gatecrashing a meeting in Washington D.C. between middle Eastern Christian delegates and government officials and haranguing them for having the temerity to ask the USA for help against the muslim mass killings of their fellow Christians.

Corbyn said ‘Muslim comedians just don’t get British humour and need to be taught a lesson’…or did he? Maybe I’m just projecting as I contemplate the words of a Muslim comedian who was allowed to say that, in the wake of Boris’ classic British joke about post boxes and bank robbers, politicians should not be allowed to make jokes, they are politicians and should stick to their day job….says a comedian being highly political. Wonder what she makes of the 5 Star comedians in charge of the Italian government or the jokers leading the EU? Comedians seem to think they can comment freely on politics so why can a politician not make jokes? Naturally both the comedian and her fellow Muslim that the BBC brought in to comment on Boris got away scot free with their stupidity and bigotry.

Similarly Labour MP Rosie Duffield was allowed to make the daftest and most ridiculous claims when she complained about a nightclub that had people dressed as Geishas in white make-up on opening night…apparently this was a form of ‘yellow face’ racism…never mind it’s not yellow make-up and Geishas aren’t actually born with white make-up on their faces…it’s not in their DNA….the make-up is, er, make-up. Another humourless social justice warrior burnishing her anti-racist credentials by being racist and an idiot and given a platform to do so on the BBC as usual…no coincidence she was invited onto Any Questions after her tweet….the BBC, rather than go for real news and serious issues, goes for the sensationalist click-bait of attention seeking MPs.

What you get when you pander to such divisive and racist narratives based upon identity politics is something like Jeremy Corbyn and the subsequent massive wave of anti-semitism that he has brought in his wake. Corbyn has spent decades cosying up to anti-Jewish terrorists and associated Muslim supremacist groups, as has the BBC, and has portrayed Israel as a Nazi state committing war crimes, genocide and ethnic cleansing, as has the BBC. He has built his political life around supporting and promoting identity politics, as has the BBC, and this is the most divisive and destructive way of shaping a society because it in fact destroys ‘society’, destabilising and undermining it, often deliberately and knowingly, in an attempt to curry favour and win votes from the individual groups he graces with his favour.

The BBC also indulges in exactly the same form of identity politics despite being charged with maintaining a civil society and citizenship. Everything the BBC does, in fact, promotes the opposite of that, it cheerleads for the break up of the United KIngdom [in part because it wants the then small regions left over to run to the EU for protection ala the East European states post Soviet Union…and of course it just doesn’t like Britain…united it is powerful and a strong voice in the world…the BBC hates that] and the abolishing of the British and indeed English, identity and the nation state. Curiously fervently anti-British Empire but pro-EU and Islamic empires…and we’re not just talking of Islamic empires historically.

What’s more dangerous to our democracy, society and way of life…a few Russian bots tweeting into cyberspace and a couple of hackers in a bunker in St Petersburg claiming the Pope doesn’t shit in the woods, or an incredibly powerful and influential worldwide broadcasting network that can use its inherited trust and respect to push the most dangerous and false ‘news’ and narratives in order to shape the world to its own vision?

Let’s not forget why Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is in prison in Iran…she worked for the BBC’s Media Action arm [clue in the title] which trains foreign journalists to undermine and attack governments in their home states…..or as the BBC quaintly puts it…hold these governments to account and to pressure them into changing behaviour and policies…to suit the BBC’s liberal agenda of course. Remind me how often the BBC mentions this or that she worked for the BBC…and what exaclty are the BBC doing to get her released? The BBC constantly name-checks Boris for his comment that she was in prison for training journalists [perfectly true] blaming him for her plight and claiming his comment was false…not Boris’ fault, once again he speaks the truth and it is the BBC that is avoiding both the truth and its responsibility in this affair.

Yes, climate alarmist “experts” made predictions 20 or 30 years ago that the Arctic would be completely free of ice by 2010 or 2015 or whenever. And of course their predictions turned out to be completely wrong.

You have all these climate “experts” making predictions on the Earth’s climate in 2100. But, to be frank, if they can’t accurately predict the Earth’s climate 10 or 20 years ahead, what chance have they got of making accurate predictions for over 80 years ahead?

Given the two were not BFFs, it is hardly surprising McCain didn’t want Trump at his funeral, and likely a relief for Trump.

However how the entire MSM is getting overly moist at how classy it is that in his will he asked Obama to read from a TelePrompTer there is quite the stretch.

I bet Katty, Jon and Anthony are hoping for VIP tickets to emote… and carefully avoid the bits from the past that suit neither his legacy or their part in reporting it.

Looking at Jihad Watch and I see a story about a Muslim congress woman in the US who is apparently a serial liar and who married her brother in an immigration fraud…..can’t imagine the BBC constantly referring to this and using it to discredit whatever she says as they do wth Tommy Robinson who tried to go to the US on his friend’s passport. Surprised the BBC aren’t making lots of noise in his support as a ‘undocumented migrant’. Robinson is a reviled [by the BBC et al] anti-islamo-fascism campaigner whilst the Muslim fraudster is a US congress woman……which one do you think the BBC thinks is the most serious ‘fake’ and criminal?

I think he was involved in the fairly clumsy stunt where they invaded the lefty bookshop.

There is no Muslim congress woman .
There is Ilhan Omar, who won the Democrat primary to stand for congress
\\ If Omar wins the seat, she will become one of the nation’s first Muslim women in Congress ― she’ll likely be joined in the historic feat by fellow Democrat Rashida Tlaib, who won her primary for a House seat in Michigan last week. Tlaib is all but guaranteed to win in November in her heavily Democratic district, earning a spot in the nation’s history books.

For Omar ― who was born in Somalia and spent four years in a refugee camp in Kenya before coming to the U.S. at age 12 ― breaking barriers will be nothing new. When she was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2016, she became the nation’s first Somali-American legislator.//

Trailer for the new BBC Bodyguard series, Sunday nights.

    Drone, ominous music:

In a world where just one man is left working in the entire police and security forces of the United Kingdom, women have taken every single job. Trapped in a BBC world of diversity, the bodyguard has to make an entire series credible, just by being recognizably male.

His every moved thwarted by BBC box tickers. Watch how the BBC pretends the only reason for Islamic terrorism in the UK is because of western interference in Afghanistan and Iraq. No mention of Muslims, (coughs), sorry, Asians, blowing up people in countries like France or Germany, who weren’t involved in Afghanistan.

Can our hero overcome the obstacles planted by the BBC box tickers? Erm, no chance. The entire series is like continuously stubbing your toe on a copy of the Guardian made of concrete.

A BBC presenter on 5Live suggested that ‘everything will change if we get a ‘no-deal’ ‘….presumably he’s thinking nothing will really change if May gets away with her deal and we essentially stay in the EU. Indeed her plan is working well. The BBC is giving blanket coverage with the release of the Project Fear documents by the government ‘in the event of a no-deal’. Every exaggerated ‘concern’ is gone over in shocked detail and it will be a rolling programme as so many more of these documents are yet to be published…it is the death of Brexit by a thousand cuts….a drip drip drip effect of so many negative dire warnings about the effect of a ‘no-deal’. It is intended to scare the hell out of the voter and to make a no-deal seem so terrible that they will accept any old deal that May and the EU cobble together…and one suspects a deal has already been agreed behind closed doors that is the status quo in all but name.

The BBC is of course a willing participant in this charade as it ramps up the fear even telling us that the ridiculous story about photographs on cigarette packets, though trivial, shows how terribly complex and involved leaving the EU is and how difficult it will be to leave. Oddly it is was not long ago the BBC were insisting that the EU’s influence over British laws and way of life was minimal, next to nothing and they really couldn’t understand why the voters thought it was this all powerful monster running their lives. Now…it’s all very complicated and we are deeply embedded in the EU machine, so much so that to leave would almost be impossible and ruinous.

Pienaar is there leading the pack with his anti-Brexit waffle as he asks ‘As a Leaver do you accept that a no-deal will leave Britain worse off and do you regret your Brexit plans were based on so much wishful thinking?’ No bias there then.

Pienaar goes on to say that ‘the economic arguments about Brexit were barey heard, and we shoud have heard them, who knows what how that would have effected the outcome of the referendum.’

WTF? The economic arguments weren’t heard? How about loud and endless predictions of economic armageddon, emergency budgets to deal with the fallout from the vote, the army of Brexit unemployed, the tumbling housing market, the factories shutting, the fruit rotting in the massive lorry park blocking all roads to Dover, empty supermarket shelves and planes grounded on the runways?

What is Pienaar suggesting? Do we need to do such risk assessments at every election? Once a person is voted in do we say hold on, let’s just run a rule over your manifesto to see if it is in the national interest and then go into minute detail about every single issue that wil be effected by the election of Party ‘X’….and if we think it is not in the national interest [we decide that] we’ll rerun the election.

It just doesn’t happen and yet that is what is happening with Brexit as part of Project Fear….even the EU has admitted that the release of these documents is scaremongering.

Interesting how the BBC downplays and mostly ignores the furore around Hammond’s hand grenade that he lobbed into the no-deal talk….the BBC presented this as Hammond being criticised by Brexiteers for ‘highighting the apparent risks of a no-deal.’ The BBC has always gone ballistic on Boris when he intervened in the Brexit discussion saying he was being divisive, disruptive and disloyal to May, but when Remainers like Hammond intervene in a manner that is obviously designed to sabotage a certain government policy or line, such as the release of the Project Fear documents by Leaver Dominic Raab in tones that the BBC criticised as being intended to calm and reassure people [a terrible thing apparently…even though the underlying intent of the government is to spread fear and anger not reassurance about a no-deal], the BBC criticises not Hammond but those who criticise him. The alcoholic Chiles even whinged that the Mail called Hammond ‘Eeyore’ on its frontpage, he seemed most put out that the Mail was supposed to be pro-EU now under new editorialship….though I believe that doesn’t happen till November.

The BBC is May’s mouthpiece on Brexit giving her almost uncritical support as she sells Britain down the river and pumps out the pro-EU propaganda and the pro-deal-at-any-cost narrative….not of course willing to look at the cost of signing up to a deal-at-any-cost deal in the same way that they are all too willing to sensationalise and exaggerate the supposed costs of a no-deal.

I hate this narrative over fact. Just interviewing certain people is so lazy and of course you can find people – or maybe even get people to say – pretty much anything you want. How many immigrants have they accepted? How many are employed? How many claim benefits and how much does this cost? In FAIR surveys with a proper number of participants etc, what do the majority of people think? They do not do that as it will expose their Neverland fantasy of multiculturalism for the nightmare it really is.

    R4 Today opening news item:

“A leaked memo shows the People’s Vote campaign is seeking to change Labour policy on a second referendum. It is not an attempt to dislodge the incumbent Labour leadership.” (I paraphrase).

I strongly suspect that the memo’s author – former Labour spinner Tom Baldwin – himself “leaked” the memo directly to his buddies at Al Beeb.

In what sense is this news? The campaign in question seeks to influence the policy of Labour and other political parties consistent with its objective of getting a second referendum – duh, what else would it be doing?

Baldwin has recently written a book (also covered by Al Beeb) about the evils of paid political advertising on social media, which he thinks should be banned.

But he’s got no problem with his buddies at Al Beeb advertising his “People’s Vote” wheeze at the licence payer’s expense.

Meat, vegetable and dairy prices are set to rise “at least” 5% in the coming months because of the UK’s extreme weather this year, research suggests.

So not just a “good summer”, then!?

Being a towny I thought that agricultural businesses could invest in a bit of water storage / irrigation to keep their crops alive but no doubt some one will tell me why it can’t be done .

Toady delivered the goods this morning – price of stuff going up because of low yield . I think they chatted to the NFU lady ( remainer policy to keep cheap labour high profits and Reich EU subsidies -from taxpayers ) and then when free trade was raised to buy from cheaper countries the instant reply from the thick NFU bod was ‘ Australia has had a drought for 7 years” . I was dumbstruck but the beeboid – think it was the dead labour leaders’ daughter screwing it up again – just flowed along .

      – I was waiting for President Trump to get the blame by the cost of my Friday Cod and chips going up by 20p to £5.80 but sadly it didn’t happen – turned off then so missed the daily ‘slag of trump session’ .

I’m letting the Thread run a bit but will put a new one up when there’s bit of a gap – maybe 5 a.m….unless any one wants me to put one up sooner of course ….

Dear Fedup2, yes you are obviously a townie. Droughts don’t happen very often and farmers don’t know in advance. The cost of water storage and pipes or tractors to get the water to the fields would be enormous. The volume of water needed for cereals would be huge and potatoes even greater. 19 years out of 20 the stored water would be unused as August is usually one of the wettest months of the year. A license to extract is expensive and even then in chalk or limestone areas it might not be possible to reach the appropriate field. As for volume of water needed, when I was preparing for my 11+ I had to calculate what the weight of 1 inch of rain would be to cover an acre. Whilst I cannot remember the exact answer, its quantity made an impression.

5 minute listen and we have pro-migration and anti-Trump stories and songs

    Wot, no anti-Bexit themes?

Be fair, it’s only been a 5 minute listen!

    BBC Online News:

“”What does it mean to look Muslim?””

“”Muslim men and non-Muslim men in the Netherlands and Belgium have been swapping clothes as part of a photography project to combat stereotyping.””

“”Participants in the travelling project want to start conversations about identity and encourage people to think about how they perceive Muslims in their community.””

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-europe-45262961/what-does-it-mean-to-look-muslim

The BBC again creating victims of their favourite religion.

Perhaps the BBC should create a feature entitled:

    “Why don’t Muslims Integrate Anywhere?”

Dover – I would be more impressed if the BBC did a piece on “What does it mean to look like a Christian” maybe in Saudi Arabia or Cairo or even “What does it mean to look like a white, underage, teenage girl in Rotherham” Or even “What does it mean to look like a white farmer in South Africa” – Shant be holding my breath on waiting for any of these!

Speaking of which, Oaknash, the TOADY Prog had a Syrian Christian on, a Bishop I think, to start to educate listeners about some real truths about Assad’s Syria. Unfortunately, the poor old Bishop had his wires a bit crossed about where Yeshua of Nazareth* was born.

Sarah Smith either did not know or did not wish to correct the Syrian Christian on air. Kind but … . .
. . . kinda allows the spread of FakeNews/FalseFacts even while setting the record straight on the history of Christianity in Syria. I do hope this marks the end of the BBC hate campaign against the new media. The Beeb are every bit as guilty as any media organisation on the FakeNews/FalseFacts front.

(I fully expect to have my hopes dashed about that next month.)

It does remind me, however, that the BBC are running a week or two late in their annual (unthinking) moan on TOADY, Wimmins Hour and Euan Yores about Christmas cards, decorations and Christmas related-goods appearing in our shops at the end of August.

        * PS. It was not in Nazareth, btw.

Snuff – But was the point made that under Assad there were many different faiths tolerated but under the “help” from the Western democracies this pretty much was reduced down to just one religion?

Oooh – I wonder which religion that could possibly be?

The Today programme gets more dire by the day as it descends into irrelevance and obsurity. It has always been a programme that shaped its output to send a message rather than to merely inform and educate its listeners with the facts. What facts it did bring us were always carefully chosen to ensure the truth didn’t actually get in the way of the message. It still has that bias but now brings amateur time to the programme as well as large dollops of frivolous nonsense such as the examination of the great significance of the pile of books behind Dominic Raab as he was interviewed from his home on the BBC…the Guardian of course first on his case….

    953.jpg?width=620&quality=85&auto=format&usm=12&fit=max&s=64f5dba1f3a596cf3a67d2460aafd02a

You may get a clue as to what upset the Guardian in this little sentence….‘Back to Raab, and his accounts of great men, told by other men.’ Ah yes all those evil men, probably white as well.

Instead of trivial tripe about Raab’s reading habits [a story you might suspect chosen to undermine and diminish him as a Brexiteer…drip drip drip] the BBC might have used the time more usefully fully investigating the catastrophe in Venezuela and its causes, instead of which they wheeled in a pro-Chavez mouthpiece who was allowed to gloss over the real causes and to pile all the blame on Maduro….somewhat ironic as he is just a Chavez reboot. Oh and there was a oblique reference to ‘some in Britain’ who support Maduro but no tacit mention of Corbyn and Co who have been less than criticial of the situation and its causes. Wonder when the BBC will start to seriously question Corbyn on his economic policies having Venezuela as his template for ‘success’ as he apparently does.

Then we went to Gaza with Yolande Knell…need I go on. The economic disaster in Gaza is of course all Israel’s fault…the ‘siege’ you know. She began talking about the history of Gaza and the election of Hamas…I thought, naively, we were going to get some blame cast onto Hamas but no, it’s Israel’s fault and the Palestinian attacks on the border are driven by the Israeli ‘siege’ which makes them desperate [A narrative pressed by the BBC’s ‘The Honourable Woman’ series which blamed the Israelis for Palestinian terrorism]. No idea that the real truth is Palestine could be economically viable and thriving if Hamas and Fatah didn’t deliberately keep it in a state of ‘siege’, in a state of war, they want the people to suffer, they want the Israelis to attack…it’s all good propaganda for the cameras so that Israel is portrayed as the evil war criminal state starving poor Palestinians in the hope that this will encourage other countries to sympathise with the Palestinians and to marginalise and destroy Israel perhaps in the way that South Africa was in apartheid days.

No such analysis from the BBC of course. If Hamas and Fatah and the Palestinian Authority wanted to they could run Palestine as a proper functioning state that provided food, jobs and a future for its people…..they just have to look over the border to Israel to find inspiration. Instead of encouraging and supporting Palestinian terrorism and victimhood status perhaps the BBC should be telling a few home truths to Palestinians about the reasons for their plight.

Then we had a bizarre attack on the Christian Church for not supporting Christians in the Middle East as they come under increasing attack and for not managing to intervene successfully in the Syrian War [saddle up you Crusaders?!] This from a BBC that has consistently ignored or downplayed this issue whilst in fact the Church, Protestant and Catholic, has voiced its concerns loudly…the Pope only recently, as did our own Archbishop Welby. The BBC not long ago told us that Christians were thriving in the Middle East and were almost celebrated inhabitants in Gaza…lol. All part of the BBC’s promotion of Muslims at the expense of others be it Christians in the Middle East or white girls in Rotherham…all sacrificed at the alter of the BBC’s determined effort to cover up for Islam.

The Today programme….complete rubbish these days.

Surprised to hear Jesus was born in Syria as well. Who knew?

Tom Shakespeares useless “Point Of View” yesterday spoke of his getting rid of his books as he downsizes.
My flick at Today involved three snobs talking about peoples bookcases being indicators of their true selves, or projections.

Given what you say above, I`m sure that BBC will be banning books very soon-horrid bugs, bad for the planet, discriminating against the MeToo Generation who can`t read as well as the older white blokes…you know the rest.

We`ve all walked out on the BBC, and reckon we`ll be needing some guns within five years.
