Weekend Open Thread 24 August 2018

Comrade  Corbyn has declared his support for the rapidly failing BBC but suggested that there be a ‘British digital corporation’ to rival Netflix or Amazon. Meanwhile , back on Planet Earth , the BBC has not commented about the thoughts of a potentially future Prime Minister .

He also seems to want  beeboids to declare their Social Class. Now there’s a giggle . Maybe users of this site should assign a five star system to those appearing on BBC output and have a special category for no class at all…

Even through all the Blair Mandelson years when every Today programme started with, ‘Today the government will ……..’ my radio alarm stayed on. Not this morning. The thought of listening to all the new dire warnings about Brexit the BBC have found overnight picking through the government papers released yesterday have beaten me. Silence is golden.

Everything the BBC say on Brexit needs to be viewed from the prism of them having received hundreds of millions from the EU over the years.

Everything SkyNews have to say needs to be seen from the prism that they use a EU based satellite for broadcasting purposes, alongside their German and Italian operations.

Their fear of a no deal Brexit is compounded by the impact this will have on their takeover by Disney/ Comcast/ Fox.

None of these influences (some might say vested interests) are ever declared by either BBC or Sky of course.

America’s Two Parties: Traitors and Patriots
        By Peggy Ryan

Battle lines were drawn, traitors versus patriots, Democrats-RINOs-media-Hollywood-corporations, indoctrinated students, fake news viewers, and one-world-order versus we the people. The war is fought daily, battles on every front.

Even against such overwhelming odds, my money’s on Americans to once again defeat tyranny for the same reason we’ve always prevailed. America is worth fighting for. Freedom is worth fighting for.

Corbyn like any good communist/socialist would like to see a controlled media.

As someone remarked ” the price of liberty is eternal vigilance”

But it has to be “Armed” vigilance! Otherwise “vigilance” simply earns one a quick trip to the Gulag or worse. That is why the American Founding fathers, primarily Englishmen, created the Second Amendment.

And “Informed” vigilance too. The left has control of Google, Facebook and Twitter. Google caters to 90% of all querries. If Google continues with no real competition, then we lose the information war. Game over.

We are witnessing an existential war currently ongoing in the USA. The massed ranks of the media ( Fox excepted), politicians, Hollywood, in alliance with the major information controllers, Google, Facebook and Twitter, against one man – Pres Donald Trump – a Quixotic figure, with a handful of followers. The battle is over the Second Amendment, and whether the USA is a nation of laws or a nation founded on immigration, and for unrestricted immigration.

The BBC and the EU are on the side of the marxist/globalists

I posit that the West’s future lies in the outcome of this war.

No names no packdrill (as the old army saying used to go) in BBC TV news this morning concerning the convictions in a huge cocaine smuggling case.

Whenever the BBC uses their old saying “four men” one needs to do some research.

I’m afraid I’m going to link to the Guardian or to pass the frittata as one of my old sayings goes.

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/aug/23/farnborough-airport-cocaine-smugglers-found-guilty

‘Martin Neil, 49, of Poole in Dorset, Italian national Alessandro Iembo, 28, and Spaniards Victor Franco-Lorenzo, 40, and José Ramón Miguélez-Botas, 56, were found guilty by a jury at Woolwich crown court in south-east London on Thursday’

Interesting to see our trade with the EU has been flourishing. Perhaps there was something about the phrase free movement of goods and people which they took to heart.

The MSM are not even trying to hide their bias against Brexit anymore. Sky news has the headline “Tory cabinet rift as public opinion shifts against Brexit”

    https://news.sky.com/story/tory-divisions-exposed-by-hammond-letter-as-sky-data-poll-reveals-shift-against-brexit-11480562

Yet when you read the article the public opinion they refer to is nothing more than a biased survey Sky conducted, asking people if they think a “no-deal” would be good or bad. That’s completely different from asking whether they think Brexit is good or bad………a deliberately misleading headline.

What’s more, the article says that the “right-wing media have turned on the Chancellor”, implying that it’s only right-wingers who are in favour of Brexit.

One of the things I find interesting – amid all the talk of FakeNews and FalseNews and trolling and Russian influence on social media – is the number of new User names appearing on BBC ‘Have Your Say’ and Editor’s Blogs that are open to comment.

You would expect in the normal run of things that the ‘new voices’ would be fairly evenly split between Remain & Leave with a bias toward the latter. It appears to me that an overwhelming number of these ‘new voices’ are pro-Remain.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-45274972

        .
        .
Er, actually I did briefly wonder whether it was an ‘in-house-job’ but the problem with doing something like that is that you would only need a BBC worker who knew about the plan, who voted Leave and then fell into some dispute with the BBC over their employment to blow the lid off the whole affair.

It would probably sink the BBC.

In any conspiracy, you have to limit ‘those that know’ to three or less, preferably less! It would be hard work for a Beeboid Moderator to create false User accounts and then come up with original anti-Brexit posts for each one. There were over six thousand posts there on that one Thread.

It would be in the scope of a well financed campaign group, however, who could hire temporary staff. Ten accounts and posts an hour x8 x25 people, say ….

Or work on the Facebook multiplier. No.1 Remain has 2 Remain friends, they recruit 2 Remain friends each and so on, all signing up to new User accounts at the BBC.

The speech made by JC, but surely created by a logographer.
“irony” From what I have seen of his attire, during the past twenty years, JC would not even associate “irony” with something used to remove creases from clothes.
“irony”; JC would not understand this if a flat iron, attached to a thesaurus, landed on his head, and he was given a year to think about the association.
Remember JC’s PMQ with Theresa the Traitor? Two dummies in search of a ventriloquist.

My BBC message from Winston Smith …

    YOUR COMPLAINT:

Complaint Summary: How much will Radio 2 visit to Orlando cost me?

Full Complaint: I heard on the BBC Radio 2 that you are sending the Alan and Mel show from a room in London to a room in Orlando. How much will this cost me in total? To the nearest thousand is ok. Can anyone stop this from happening and wasting more of the BBC TV Tax Payer’s money?

Thank you for contacting us about upcoming episodes of BBC Radio 2’s ‘Alan and Mel’s Summer Escape’.

We understand you’re concerned about the cost of the programme’s trip to Orlando, Florida.

While we don’t generally discuss programme budgets due to commercial sensitivities, be assured that we’re aware for the need to maintain value for money at all times with regards to the licence fee.

The programme team have explained that the trip will be taken during the 60th anniversary of the formation of the NASA and will feature interviews with astronauts at the Kennedy Space Centre. The programmes will also include some insight into the tourist industry in Florida, and a visit to Orlando’s only active volcano.

We’re sorry to note that you believe they do not offer value for money as a licence fee payer.

Please rest assured your concerns have been raised with the production team and senior management on our audience feedback report. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback within the BBC and help inform both current and future decisions.

Once again, many thanks for taking the time to get in touch.

    Kind regards

JA, you ask a good question.

The answer is that all alcohol consumed kills something in you. God, however, has blessed you with so many cells in your body that you can spare a few every time you drink one, say perhaps two, small glasses of wine, or the equivalent in beer or spirits, on occasions. Note the qualifications carefully: one – maybe two / small / on occasion.

Make it regularly and/or make it more than that and the risk increases of alcohol dependency and/or serious damage. A half to full tumbler of pure alcohol will kill the average person. It is a deadly substance.

This latest study is correct to say the safest option is no alcohol. However, it overlooks Psalm 104 verse 15, ” And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.”

Spiegelhalter spoke some sense on Evan Davis hopeless “Sweet Reason” yesterday.
Not that Evan learned anything from having him on the show, any more that the BBC ever learn from Claire Fox(also speaking sense).
The trouble is that Evan and his BBC caste. know nothing, can`t ask anything useful or sensible and can`t stray from the pre-approved line.
Evan wanted to look at “expertise”-but had silly soundbites that only show that the BBC only does “fake news”.
Their choices were on Brexit, gobal warming and a Trump spokesman…as opposed to Blair, Carney, Osborne or Merkel for example.
Think on balance I`d rather have the open sewer and the BBC lies that some pretence of reason-they don`t know how to be impartial any more.

Corbyn has suggested that journalists should ‘elect’ their own newspaper editors.
So it begins, state control of our media by a Marxist government.
What he doesn’t explain is that those guiding journalists are likely to be members of the National Union of Journalists. Indeed, I would guess that in Corbyn’s brave new media world the left wing NUJ, his little lapdogs, would be given a major role.
So you would have editorial decisions made by leftie committees, naturally anti Establishment, with no independence of thought and probably sanctioned by a state regulated press watchdog.
