Why can’t I play for Chelsea FC?

    Seriously, why not?

I don’t live in London, but I could easily slip in there, I’m not a professional footballer nor do I have a contract with Chelsea…but hey, what’s a few missing documents? I don’t have the skills but you know I’m hard working and my party-on persona and large assortment of [PC] jokes will keep the bus entertained as we travel to matches, I’ll add a bit of diversity to the ethnic make-up of the team being English and I’m a dab hand with a wet sponge and an orange…so helping out the NHS as well.

Really what’s the problem? There shouldn’t be any rules or restrictions on where I can work and live or the job I can do regardless of whether I have any documents to prove I can do the job or am eligible to apply for it….kind of Fascist to stop me playing for Chelsea when I really really want to! If I want to I should be allowed to!

Imagine if the other team on the pitch decided they all wanted to play for Chelsea half way through the game and decided to join them on their side of the pitch because Chelsea were so good and winning hands down, imagine then that the crowd started to join in and ‘play’ for Chelsea joining them on the pitch as well….would we see a terrific football match because more ‘footballers’ must mean a better game, a more interesting and exciting game because not everyone wants to play by the same rules and so a rather interesting free for all I’m sure? Still, better than sticking to fuddy-duddy old rules isn’t it even if it means the total breakdown of the game, massive overcrowding, destruction of the pitch and total chaos. But you know what…so much better as we can’t have ‘borders’ and rules saying who is ‘legal’ and who can live and work and travel as they like. if you want to play for Chelsea you do it.

In which a bbc market rate educator and informer needs ‘alerting’ to something that cut and pasted nicely on narrative, so did not require any thinking.
