    R4 Now
\\ Is it acceptable to rail against gypsies or travellers?
Negative stereotyping of those communities has become a popular (and populist) pastime this year.
In this programme, we examine these and other stereotypes: why we use them; whether they tend to be true, and if they are, whether we should still shut up about them.

Evan Davis takes a trip to the Appleby Horse Fair and asks some young members of the Gypsy and Traveller Community whether they feel unfairly stereotyped.//
The first person they ask says “well someone nicked the panel off my brothers van last night”

The BBC are required by OFCOM to be impartial in their output.

Fortunately for them they came up with a clever ruse:-

    1) Encourage all their highest paid broadcasters/presenters to set up private service companies and then employ them through that company rather than directly.

    2) Encourage those same highly paid broadcasters/presenters to now disregard any semblance of impartiality and openly state they support a second referendum.

    3) When questioned as to how their highly paid broadcasters/presenters can be allowed to show such blatant bias, state that there’s nothing they can do about it as the person concerned is not directly employed by the BBC but is freelance due to having set up a private service company.

Gary Lineker and the BBC management – making a total mockery of rules that were clearly put in place to prevent this happening.

Javid’s comments were published on Sarah Champion’s blog.

    The Home office is quoted
Home Office spokesman said that although the government “has always been clear that child sexual exploitation is not exclusive to any single culture, community, race or religion, political or cultural sensitivities must not get in the way” of tackling child abuse.

“If evidence suggests that there are cultural factors that may be driving certain types of offending we are fully committed to addressing these.”

    Another quote
Tom Delargy, a Marxist who this week demanded Dame Margaret Hodge’s expulsion from Labour after she accused Jeremy Corbyn of antisemitism, said that Ms Champion was a “vicious racist” who should be expelled.

White copper who had the criminal book thrown at him for trying to get a suspected dangerous ( black) man out of a car has been cleared of all three charges in a Londonistan crown court – you might remember the phone footage of the officer using a knife to break the car windows.
I think the Londonistan police have decided that don’t want this copper any more as he now has a misconduct tribunal to face . Maybe he’d have done better as one of those’ cohesion officers ‘ mentioned of the previous thread . Silly season indeed.
I found this in the Londonistan evening standard but usually the Londonistan evening local news avoids and does the ‘dogs / babies stuck in hot car’ story .

But these guys seem to be far more interested in undermining the dissuaders.

Indeed if Metro-libs had written such sensible articles in 2000 and 2002 then the UK would be quite different.

What Andy fails to mention and conveniently overlooks, as a reason for why 1976 did not end too well for the UK, was that we had been members of the EU (in its then form as the EEC) from midnight on 31st December 1972.

Our Balance of Payments, instead of being enhanced by membership of this great trading partnership, had IIRC worsened considerably from the already bad situation at the time of the June 1975 Referendum.

Absolutely nothing to do with Brexit or a hot summer.

Everything to do with the mistake of joining without giving full consideration to the consequences AND giving the Electorate the say in a Referendum beforehand.

Zoe Williams in the Guardian asks : How does the left get heard on the BBC?
    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jul/25/how-can-the-left-get-heard-amid-the-bbcs-political-mudslinging

Well let’s start with the Politics Show she mentioned. Yes, Andrew Neil is right wing, but as she says, he gives everyone a hard time.

His successor, Sarah Smith, is daughter of John Smith, the former Labour leader. It is co presented by Jo Coburn, who has been paid by the labour party, famously referred to ‘we’ when discussing problems with Labour politicians and is married to Mark Flanagan who was head of Tony Blair’s strategic communications for the Labour and Coalition UK Governments.

The Daily Politics’s political correspondent is Laura Kuenssberg, whose family helps fund the Labour party. Her father personally funds individual Scottish Labour MPs.

The Newsnight team was headed by a Guardian editor, Ian Katz, who appointed as his assistant another Guardian editor. They appointed a Guardian far left writer, Paul Mason, as economics correspondent. They replaced the political correspondent with the Guardian’s political correspondent, Nick Watt.

Labour people move to the BBC, whilst BBC people move to the Labour Party. For example, Orla Guerin lost labour’s deposit when she stood as a far left candidate so went to the BBC as a journalist. Clive Lewis was a BBC journalist who went back to the Labour Party.

The BBC works closely with the Labour Party at every election. For example, in the 2015 election, the BBC plotted with Ed Milliband’s team to coincide a series of sympathetic NHS docs to come out in the same week as Labour’s own NHS campaign.

I could go on and on, and often do.

I wonder how many journos read this site – day in day out evidence of news and output bias . Yes – people get angry – and rightly so – but I think this website presents a damn better account of the likes of al beeb than a paid mouthpiece of the guardian .

pug, “Did laugh to see Olly Robbins, the Remainer civil servant who is doing his best to sell us out to the EU…straight from central casting as the sly, scheming ‘power behind the throne’ who would sell his own mother if it was in his own interest.”

Am not so sure about that. No love lost between me and CS at present, it is loadsa love lost between me and the CS even though I have friends who have been or are CSs.

Thing that struck me about this was that Robbins was constantly looking to his right. If that was Dominic Raab sitting there (and not Robbins’ lawyer, a la Senate Hearings) then I am left wondering whether prior to that House Committee, Raab had put a metaphorical gun to Olly Robbins head and said “Stand and deliver on Brexit, or else!”

I was getting the feeling he was constantly refering deferentially to the SoS and was checking to see if he – Robbins – aint misbehavin’.

Unless, of course, Raab has sold out completely to Remain and the script had been jointly agreed and Robbins merely needed some prompts and urgings from the wings.

Would recommend last nights Moral maze to see the BBCs collective mental breakdown. A Simon Albury lashed into the BBC for not employing enough blacks-and would not shut up about it. Poor Buerk relies on the BBC for his pottage, so was far from happy(other public broadcasters being available).
    But Albury carried on regardless.
I had him down for a black gangsta-turns out he does a great impression-he is of course, pale, male and very stale-but does a good impression of Darcus Howe here.

Giles Fraser then called some white bloke from Essex “racist” in effect, because he said his Asian mates had done well with corner shops and self employment. Another car crash for Buerk, and he`d only ushered the rubberneckers on after the Albury pile up.

Some Poly Dolly called Rainbow( a doctor even!) failed and spluttered when Claire Fox said she had no campaigns for women bin men of sewage staff-just BBC and CEO levels of privilege. Rainbow had her carburettor flooded, and was taken off the road soon after-might have been liberal tears from Buerk.

Andall this in forty minutes-comedy gold, riotously funny and very revealing…all this crap about diversity-and not one black invited on to talk.

Much is made about the salaries of these so called ‘stars’, but its their Agents/Agencies who are the negotiating protagonists, and in truth those that I’ve read about are generally of the Jewish faith. This isn’t stereotyping, its fact, in the same way there is no denying that for many years, the big hitters at the tv channels were the same – Bernard Delfont and relations Lew and Leslie Grade.
I’m saying this in the spirit of not being in the least anti semetic, just stating facts, but if I were to say this in a letter to the press I would be labelled thus.

Strange indeed. What is also a fact is that one can be as anti Christian as one likes and say the most nasty things in public about Christians and it wouldn’t raise a murmur. In fact you would probably get “Hear,Hear” from most of the media . However, if you say nasty things about the Muslim or Jewish faiths in public places you are without question the spawn of the Devil and should be silenced at all costs. I would call that an injustice.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44963548 The BBC reports in one paragraph that it has agreed to pay Sir Cliff Richard £850k “to cover his legal costs”, then in the next paragraph reports that they have sought leave to appeal against the judgement! You couldn’t make it up!

For anyone interested, the full judgement of 122 pages is available online at http://www.simkins.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Cliff-Richard-v-BBC-journalistic-disclosure-jt-approved.pdf. I am not a lawyer, but the judge seems to me to have done a very thorough job in balancing “the right to respect for his private and family life ” of an individual under S 8 of the Human Rights Act and “right to freedom of expression.” under S10 of the Act, which is the BBC’s justification to do and say anything it thinks is in the “public interest”. After a lengthy discussion on the balancing of these two competing rights (p86 of the judgement) and the legal precedents which mean that the MSM should always balance the two, he rules strongly in Sir Cliff’s favour, finding that everyone in the BBC was far more concerned with preserving the exclusivity of the story than in considering the rights of the subject. His judgement was for general damages of £190k and £20k for aggravated damages (for entering the story for a “Scoop of the Year”award).

From pages 101 to 115, he rules on whether “special damages”, i.e. consequential losses are valid claims for future negotiations or hearings. He rules in Sir Cliff’s favour in nearly every heading and certainly under the important, i.e. expensive ones. If the BBC loses the whole case under the present judgement, they will be caught for a lot more damages yet.

The judge was fairly scathing about the points the BBC’s QC made in many areas in the case, so it wouldn’t give me much hope for the success of any appeal, assuming they made their best points in the initial hearings.

    • RobRoy says:

Seeing as it’s NOT the BBC who are paying these damages, it’s us the TV Licence Tax payers, that are covering the costs, I think the BBC should ask us it we’re willing to fund their appeal. You’d think an organisation that are so keen to force a second Brexit referendum would be interested in publi opinion.

Such thin gruel for the SJWs. If this is the best ‘sexism’ they can uncover then it can’t be much of a problem. The chance of flying on any plane as part of your job sounds like a fantastic deal to me.

Perhaps the reason the men are treated better is due to the astronomic amounts the market pays for their services. I imagine your average male model only flies economy whilst the female super models fly business class. There are many, many areas in which women get a much better deal then men but they are never mentioned by our impartial BBC.

Now 32°C in my HO. A new record could be set today.

Outdoors, I got a reading of 83°F in the shade and as near as spit 110°F in the sun but 1. this other thermo is alcohol, 2. a bit vintage (late 19thC!), and, 3. was laid nearly flat on an earth flower bed but was tilted slightly downwards, away from the bulb to the top. It wasn’t in the 4pm sunshine for long.

Had it been done at 1pm or 2pm maybe that would have been the new record.

Further she explains it in a way suggesting that we may all be

I doubt if many, if any in fact, on here have seen this. It will disgust you about what the muslims, aided and abetted by the police, the Home Office, the judiciary and the prison service are allowing to happen in our country; our country, not theirs.

But it will bring hope when you see what some brave patriots are now doing to fight back. I laughed when I saw the cops running away.

Saw this great post on Breitbart by Cargill55.
I’m sure he would be happy to share it.

    No deal is best.
It was always clear there are huge economic benefits from a quick Brexit.
Big business, the economics profession, the state bureaucracy, the political elite , the globalists, the lobbying and polling industries, the media and the Bank of England were self serving liars and propagandists dancing to the political tune that benefitted them.

    – We stop paying a net £70billion membership fee over the next five years to Brussels. http://researchbriefings.fi… .
Every single penny of that £70billion has to be borrowed, added to our state debt of £1.7 trillion and from the first minute adding interest to that debt, a double whammy.

    – We can say no to millions of low wage , low skill EU immigrants who are depressing wages of low paid British workers and creating chaos in state services such as the NHS and education .

As many of four million Brits cannot get a job or the work they would like because they are forced to compete with a “virtually unlimited pool” of migrant workers from the European Union (EU), a report has said….http://www.breitbart.com/london/20

We now know there are 700,000 EU immigrant children educated in the UK at a cost of £4 billion a year. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/….

630000 EU nationals were given new NI numbers in the year to December, 209000 to Bulgarians and Romanians. https://www.gov.uk/governme

These 630,000 will bring 200,000 dependents meaning the true EU immigration figure is 830,000 https://www.gov.uk/governme… They will also add to the birth rate whilst here.

MigrationWatch says Brexit would cut net immigration by 100,000 a year , http://www.telegraph.co.uk/… .

NI data suggests the cut would be substantially higher than that and would relieve pressure on hospitals, schools, infrastructure, jobs, wages and state finances.

We now know that 75% of EU immigrants who come here to work and live would have been refused entry by the non EU immigrant point system because they are low paid workers with a median wage of £8 an hour http://www.express.co.uk/ne….

We know that up to 45% of EU immigrants take in work or out of work benefits https://www.gov.uk/governme… and low paid EU immigrants now take £3 billion in work benefits a year, 10% of the total paid in the UK, proving they are low paid, high benefit workers http://uk.reuters.com/artic

Recent research suggests open borders immigration, most from the EU ,has increased house prices by 20%, making it almost impossible for young British people to buy a property. https://www.telegraph.co.uk

We also know that 75% of all new jobs are taken by EU immigrants http://www.dailymail.co.uk/

Meanwhile it’s going to get worse through immigration to the EU from third world countries. Europe is set to absorb massive waves of migration “for the decades to come”, the EU Commission has declared…..http://www.breitbart.com/london/20

    – We get out of the protectionist and bureaucratic common agricultural policy, allowing us to recoup the £50 billion opportunity cost of CAP membership that we will incur over the next five years, for example by sourcing cheaper food from the rest of the world through free trade treaties instead of applying high EU tariffs. http://openeurope.org.uk/in
    http://www.express.co.uk/ne

    – We get back our UK fishing grounds, 70% handed over to the EU, gaining us £15 billion over the next five years. http://www.efddgroup.eu/ima

    – We set our own trade treaties and exit the protectionist and bureaucratic single market which costs business tens of billions of pounds a year and which have saddled us with a £89 billion annual trade deficit with the EU, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/… , despite proof that EU setting our trade treaties and the single market are bad for British business. http://www.civitas.org.uk/c… .

    – We will continue to have major foreign direct investment into the UK. The $830 billion Norwegian sovereign fund says it might invest more after Brexit http://www.breitbart.com/lo… HSBC will stay , Honda, Hitachi, Toyota, Nissan, Vauxhall will all stay here, Avon has just announced it is setting up its global HQ in the UK so it’s not worried about Brexit.

    – Neither are 73% of Chief Financial Officers who say Brexit will not affect their UK investment decisions http://www.cnbc.com/2016/03

    – As for the City, there’s growing consensus there that it will prosper outside the EU! Away from EU power grabs. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/… . Deutsche Boerse is so relaxed about potential Brexit it wants to merge with the London Stock Exchange.

    – We can set our own energy policy instead of following the costly carbon emissions laws set by the EU

The EU is collapsing economically because of a dysfunctional currency, protectionism and bureaucracy, it’s got deflation and minimal economic growth, why attach ourselves to,that economic carcass?

So Brexit will benefit Britain economically, business costs will fall, global business will still invest here, food prices will fall, we will get the controlled immigration we need, state spending will fall, we set our trade treaties and we are freed from single market bureaucracy

    48/52 split on the vote
Of those 52 % people voted for different sorts of brexit
So hold another referendum with clearer questions
This time get the answer right

( I added the last bit but he might as well hav said it) Blair is a barrister – lawyers sell their soul for money – Blair likes money . Soros has lots of it . Blair says things mr. Soros would like .

“oh Trump’s a bully, he makes threats”
..yep, and they seem to work better than appeasement

    PS
An interesting point is that if the EU can offer South Korea an FTA

Fortunately the weather mainly comes from the west, so we get to control that, we also control when the day starts, (our ‘elite’ keep pushing to move us onto Berlin time).

The UK is a major gateway to Europe for world air traffic, communications and money movements. If those nasty girls and boys in the EU don’t play fair we will take our ‘ball’ away and go back home. Sorry Ireland, no more air travel or internet.

Perhaps when Dover/Calais are ‘stacked back’ the ‘little ships’ of Operation Dynamo might block the channel? Sorry Rotterdam!

Meanwhile our ‘friends’ in the EU will ponder ‘Lisbon Article 3.5’ :

          5. In its relations with the wider world, the Union shall uphold and promote its values and interests and contribute to the protection of its citizens. It shall contribute to peace, security, the sustainable development of the Earth, solidarity and mutual respect among peoples, free and fair trade, eradication of poverty and the protection of human rights, in particular the rights of the child, as well as to the strict observance and the development of international law, including respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter.

I pay you the BBC £150 every year on pain of prison.

You are paid to represent the British people in a fair manner. In an unfair manner, you decided to hate Trump.

You should be stripped of your authority as the National Broadcaster.

Ironically, Trump gave his one British media interview to the Sun.

First off, violence and drugs in prisons. Easily solved in my opinion, but that’s not what got my ire. The next bit of ‘entertainment’ was about brexit, where they said ‘the UK’s position’ at least four times. Surely it’s OUR position. Apparently there’s some musical entertainment to round it all off, splendid.
