Weekend Open Thread 18 May 2018

Apparently this weekend is the ideal one to ‘bury bad news’ with so much contrived excitement going on . We ve had plenty of bad news recently so will we notice any difference ?

The insanity of BBC-endorsed indentity politics on tv this morning:

A stout, bearded, middle-aged, Californian black man in a red singlet enthuses on cue for the BBC reporter that Meghan Markle, that trim, pale-skinned – rather good-looking – young woman, “Looks like me”

Hey, buddy, look again – the ginger prince looks more like you!

    Oh; Fed!

I plonked the comment below on the old thread, really to fire up the corpuscles an’ stuff, and you were beavering (can I say beaver?) away getting a new one up!

So please forgive me for reposting it here, as I’d like to start the day with a laugh, a few jokes and the off-switch ready for the whole weekend!

“BTW, I love the term ‘Gammon’!

What better than a couple of slices of delicious smoked pork, hot out of the oven with broad beans and a mustard sauce, and of course, mashed potatoes!

Bring it on snowflakes and sjws, keep the good stuff for real people, keep the advertising going, and don’t worry about pork; it comes from pigs you know!

Gammon – the spice of life!

(Did I say ‘pork’ – awwwww, diddums)!”

Maybe a long line of people on the walls of Windsor Castle could tear up their TV Licences and throw the pieces off the wall on Saturday afternoon.

Everyone could think of it as a precious ‘Dimbleby Moment’

Were you around when the Dimbleby Pater caused a furore when he was at some function back in the fifties/sixties, and everything started to go wrong on the broadcast!

He thought his mic was off, and muttered ‘Jesus wept’, which was a first for cock-ups on Al Beeb!

Surreal discussion on Toady about acid attacks. One contributor finally managed to admit the problem was concentrated in 3 East London boroughs, yet the obvious issue of ethnicity couldn’t pass anyone’s lips. Some waffle about a public health issue and generally high violence. The house Muslim interviewer must have been glad to close this debate down.

      I heard this too EE.
Apparently all those acid scarring cases are not a criminal but-and our media scumbag apologist emphasised this-a “PUBLIC HEALTH “issue. Can expect this one to take hold, we`ve already seen it with knife crime. Goes without saying that Islam , migration and African gangs with knives, guns sex slaves and drugs won`t get mentioned.
      No-public health.
So send for Mugabe then, once he`s been sent to the DRC to spend some time in the ebola tent.
It`s no longer Islam then-9/11 was a public health disorder, so let Dr Doolittle sort it.
Nothing to do with Islam or immigration though. That`s your Tourettes and metal health relapses, so take care eh?

Sorry raising this again but I feel the BBC had chance to consider.

How much time has the BBC spent this week explaining that 50 out of 60 of the people killed in the Gaza demonstrations were Hamas people. Surely the amount of time they spent showing us the dead baby and its family was disproportionate? The BBC feels proportionality is important only when it suits them. I am still not sure what evidence the BBC had that the baby died from tear gas inhalation because I never heard that explained.

    • Up2snuff says:

Deborah, I don’t watch TV and I guess that you are referring to BBC TV coverage. It has hardly been mentioned at all on BBC R4 News.

      I wonder why?

      Actually, no I don’t.

      1. No emotive pictures on radio.
      2. BBC R4 News presenters and journalists would be put under some pressure to explain why someone would take an 8 month old baby to a protest. They would have to do some work & ask questions.
      3. They might then have to explain how the story has changed a bit over time, and,
      4. The Beeboids might find the consequent loss of credibility on Radio News would make the TV film clips look more like a set up publicity stunt.

The Manchester Arena bombing was an Islamic terror attack on Britain. The attack occurred on the 22 May 2017. The blast killed 21 white people and two Muslims, Martyn Hett and the Islamic terrorist Salman Ramadan Abedi (22). Over 800 people were injured.

The dead included six white children Saffie Roussos (8), Nell Jones (14), Sorrell Leczkowski (14), Eilidh MacLeod (14), Olivia Campbell-Hardy (15) and Megan Hurley (15). The 16 adult victims were John Atkinson (26), Courtney Boyle (19), Kelly Brewster (32), Georgina Callander (18), Liam Curry (19), Wendy Farwell (50), Martyn Hett (29), Alison Howe (45), Michelle Kiss (45), Angelika Klis (39), Marcin Klis (42), Lisa Lees (43), Elaine McIver (43), Chloe Rutherford (17), Philip Tron (32) and Jane Tweddle (51).

Because Hett’s Muslim family come from Turkey, all attention of the left-wing media has been dedicated to the opinions of his brother Dan Hett.
“Manchester Arena victim’s brother condemns Football Lads Alliance march in the city”.

Opinions of the families of non-Muslim victims are not known, but could therefore be “Manchester Arena victim’s non-Muslim families support Football Lads Alliance march in the city”.

Nobody questions dead children, just like they didn’t on the repositioned dead child on the beach that triggered the Syrian migrant screw up by Angela Merkel.

Hardly any analysis of the vain, murderous father who bundled his family into a dinghy to cross dangerous seas just so that he could get his teeth done.

Worst of all though was the emotional outpouring when he took the body of the child back to the village that they had fled from to be buried. If you’ve left a place because it’s so dangerous, how can you possibly go back there to bury a relative?

Did Jews who died en route from fleeing Germany, get sent back to Berlin to be buried?

We just had a black president (hugely popular compared to current white man); the overwhelming favourite to succeed him was a woman; our prince is about to marry a mixed race girl; our Prime Minister is a woman, as is the head of police and leaders of main Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish parties; Home Secretary is Asian; doctors and footballers – dream jobs – are disproportionately BAME . . .

Should we just close down the billion pound equalities industry and give that money to buy dinner for poor people? I bet equality would actually increase if people could relax free from fear of an inquisition at the hands of ‘equalities’ witch hunters.

We have achieved equality beyond the wildest dreams of many immigrants. Yet will we ever see a single positive race relations story? No instead we will now have an official day every year to relive the Stephen Lawrence murder – just not enough racism happening now, obviously. All that public money on ‘equalities’ just goes on wildly exaggerating/inventing issues and smearing decent people as racist scum.

I just read a great definition of conservatism:

“Conservatives are sceptical of utopian panaceas for poverty, prejudice and other stubborn social ills because they know that people are inherently unequal. They believe the invisible hand of the market is more honest and efficient in allocating services than any bureaucratically concocted set of regulations and procedures could ever be. No matter how noble their aims, conservatives say, government programs inevitably waste revenue and encourage corruption; worse, they cause unintended consequences that inevitably exacerbate the very problems they try to deal with.”

I woke up this morning to hear the usual pre royal wedding republicanism on Toady Friday morning. I never thought I would be sympathetic. I have given a lot of thought (ok, some) to why I have no enthusiasm for this wedding. Harry is 6th in line to the throne and I think therefore the hype is way over the top. Will we get as such cheering for Beatrice and Eugenie when it is their turn? (Perhaps don’t answer that). No, I think the support from the BBC comes from the BBC because of Meghan’s black heritage (bit like give Oscars to black actors because they are black).

I see the BBC is already leading with a story about Trump contracting his security adviser over North Korea. The blatant partisanship showing that the Beeb are on the side of North Korea is nauseating.

When Trump is saying that he doesn’t want to pursue the Libya model, clearly he’s talking about not wanting to pursue the moronic model that previous administrations used of encouraging Gaddafi to get rid of his nukes replete with assurances that the US would then try to overthrow him – only to then do the very same thing.

But the Beeb as ever are being the useless idiots and not considering that Trump could be playing the long game or that maybe he knows how to deal with this pygmy bully.

Oh no, it’s far better for world stability to take our instruction from Rocket Man and the Beeb.

There is an American Episcopal minister coming in from the US to help out in some way with the service. A ‘progressive ‘ arm of the Anglican family they have large support amongst black Americans, support the civil rights movement, equal rights for the LGBT community, members of which it will ordain and marry, they oppose the death penalty. In fact pretty much everything that makes the bBbc proud and right up the street of the happy couple I’m sure.

You would think then that someone would tell Naga how to pronounce Episcopal properly rather than making it sound like epidural, assuming any of the dhimmis at the bBbc actually know.

It seems petty I know but it’s just the constant chiselling of culture through a lack of common knowledge or care from these morons that is so bloody tiring.

I laughed and said well I’ve been called a lot worse things! Some years later I saw many Hong Kong people on a protest carrying the old colonial British flag, I went down from my viewing point to ask them why they waved such a flag. “It represents the freedoms we enjoyed under the British.’ Said the Hong Kong Chinese man.

Diane’s QT costume has already been commented on elsewhere – attributed to Ghaddafi, though I felt it owed more to Air Chief Field Marshall Idi Amin – but what was more remarkable was the way the surprisingly balanced audience mocked her. A healthy sign, if based on applause levels and should have provided the Momentum contingent with food for thought – if that’s not a contradiction in terms.
What was not remarkable in the lengthy debate on Grenfell was the total absence of comments or questions on why the cladding was put up in the first place. It’s as though the stuff simply materialised after lengthy discussions on how cheaply the panels could be purchased, not once querying what they were for and if they were remotely cost effective. Nothing good comes from it because no one is allowed, or has the courage, to stand up and lay into their opinions. The best it could do would be to remove the politicians so that people can argue without the threat of losing customers or votes.

Good debate on Sky at the moment (sorry not BBC)……re the wedding, comments about ‘excitement’ and ‘good for the economy’ are being trashed by one talking head, in saying that its only the media who are ‘excited’ as most people aren’t interested, and as for being ‘good for the economy’, the argument is that tourists would be in London anyway without the pull of the royal family ! can’t argue with that.

‘Excitement / excited ‘ are such an overused words, and not ones that I would use in this context about the wedding of someone else. I ‘look forward’ to going on holiday, but admit to being ‘excited’ when I took delivery of a new puppy ! That’s my analogy anyway.

I have been out of the UK on holiday and didnt trouble myself with any news at all. On my return i realised that i felt much happier without any contact with the BBC. But i did have time to consider my current feelings towards the country i grew up in. As with many people over 60 i dont recognise Britain any longer and what upsets me is that it has dawned on me that i have little allegiance to it, nor much concern about what happens to it in the future.
I watch how the Tory party has become socialist and will betray Brexit , welcome more mass migration, suppress patriotism and attack patriots and runs after the migrant vote at every opportunity. The Labour party , which i long suspected was actually a neo Marxist party in social democrat disguise , has now thrown off the disguise and is openly Marxist and yet are doing ok in the polls.
Politics has moved a long way leftwards in my lifetime and the country is now an unpleasant place to live. I see no way in which this shift in the political centre of gravity can be reversed any time soon. Our politics and constitution prevent any figures like Trump or Orban from leading us out of the wilderness. A change to proportional representation may help but how can that be brought about? The future looks very bleak.

Two nights this week Five Live Sports Extra has had commentary of women’s football. Plenty of women’s sport is just as watchable as the men’s but that is not true of football. None of hundreds of football fans would ever, ever listen to commentary of women’s football so why on earth have it on? Should we all be sent to reeducation camp, or could we happily accept there are some pursuits to which the genders are not equally suited? I much prefer living with women to smelly, untidy men, for example.

The greatest show on earth the World Cup is under a month away. They could get all manner of past stars and managers on, get football fans salivating at the wonders that await us. But no – instead we get Yeovil Town Ladies.

Social justice is not merely annoying but actively makes life worse for most people. At the extreme end we have the and cover up horrific crimes in Rotherham. On a more banal level we have to endure this toxic form over content, something being ‘diverse’ seen as more important than the programme being dreadful.

  29. ChrisMorrison says:

What a feast of politically correct fake climate science we are promised all next week on radio 4. Five “eminent” scientists ascend the BBC pulpit to peddle the usual misleading green activism.

What the scientist/activists will do is point to environmental changes and make an instant and non-scientific leap to the conclusion that man-made CO2 is responsible. Geographer Mary Edwards of Southampton University, who has a master’s degree in forestry land management, will point to shrinking Arctic ice, probably omitting to mention the production of ice at the two poles could well be increasing. Marine biologist Cullum Roberts will no doubt suggest that higher global temperatures are destroying the world’s coral reefs. He is unlikely to note that 15% of coral is routinely affected by El Nino due to a sudden rise in the temperature of the water. Long term gentler rises in temperatures will not affect coral since they will adapt.

Also appearing is the biologist John Lawton, a keen twitcher, who will point to changing bird populations as evidence of avoidable climate change. Mr Lawton has form for climate activism. He is the president of the Institution of Environmental Sciences whose board includes any number of anti-science activists including the green party’s Caroline Lucas.

The pattern is clear – point to likely natural changes in climate and the environment that we know have always occurred and leap to a false conclusion. Then wearing a political activist hat, demand we spend vast sums of money on inefficient renewable power and ban oil and gas within 40 years.

John Lawton is a past master at this type of pseudo scientific activism. Following hurricane Katrina in 2005, he suggested that the “increased intensity of these kinds of extreme storms is very likely to be due to global warming. It looks like a smoking gun. If this makes the climate loonies in the States realise we’ve got a problem, some good will come out of a truly awful situation”. Leaving aside the fact that Katrina was the last severe Caribbean hurricane for a decade, what is it with liberals that they feel that other people’s deaths will do “some good” in promoting their own political agenda? When Edward Kennedy died, the liberal writer Melissa Lafsky speculated in the Huffington Post about the feelings of Mary Jo Kopechne. Sure Kennedy left her for dead all those years ago at Chappaquiddick, but who knows remarked Lafsky, “maybe she’d feel it was worth it”.

Bring on the disasters, let them roll – fire, brimstone and martyrs are great for our new green religion.

If the BBC was really interested in climate science it would invite academics that work in chemistry and physics. Scientists who might shed some light on the physical reactions that shape the natural world. It might talk to people who actually study the carbon cycle. Instead of paying attention to climate charlatans whose temperature models are always proved wrong, they might invite scientists who study the temperature records covering 98% of the globe that have been available from satellites since 1979. These are largely ignored by the activists since they show temperatures rising at only half the level of those commonly touted in the mainstream media. On current trends temperatures at most could rise 1.4F over a hundred years according to satellite data providing our gentle warming period continues for that long.

Many people argue that this gentle warming would be beneficial. Some people might argue differently. Now that would be worth discussing. But the discussion cannot happen on the state broadcaster because the underlying science does not correspond with the “settled” view of the controlling elites.

    • Old Goat says:

All in all, the climate is little changed from a few hundred years ago. warm periods and cold periods come and go – often with such regularity that they can be charted and predicted. Despite forecasts of doom for the Poles, they’re still there, and largely the same. The planet has only warmed as a result of the long haul out of the last Ice Age – one would expect nothing less. These last two years, however, have been cooling, but that fact has been missed by the MSM. We know that CO2 is beneficial to all life, and was far higher in the past when flora and fauna thrived and flourished. So what is it that the alarmists are so frightened of? Is it their likely loss of control, because their fear-mongering no longer works? Or is it merely a deprivation of their funding? Probably a combination of both. Either way, they’ve lost the battle in terms of science, and only recently have they begun to admit that the science is neither here nor there, but we MUST do as we’re told, because they say so (for example, Christiana Figueres, former Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, prior to her leaving).

Prince Charles said his grandad died in the same way in 1979, Sligo.
But didn`t call out who did it. The IRA.
      Just called them “terrorists”
What struck me too is the places the victims of tourist terrors came from.
Bali, Tunisia-Egypt. All Muslim, sometimes from a long time ago, so none of this is new.
Stay away from Muslim countries being my takeaway lesson.

The advice about generally avoiding Muslim countries is sound, but they export their intolerance. Bali is Hindu. Plus Mountbatten is the great uncle of Prince Charles.

Finally Muslim groups reach out to Jews over anti-semitism
    UK press full page ads
“We #Muslims have one word for #Jews: Shalom.”

Not even 20 tweets mention the campaign.. and so far I can’t find the text as text rather than image.
(wonder if it was paid for by Jewish charities or UK gov ?)

    Ah partial text here
    https://jewishinfonews.wordpress.com/2018/05/17/we-muslims-have-one-word-for-jews-shalom

“As British Muslims, we believe that the time has come to speak out.
For far too long anti-Semitism has gone unchecked.
Sadly it has become entrenched across society.
Its poison can be found in all political parties and among followers of all faiths, including Islam.

“To our Jewish sisters and brothers, we say the struggle against one of history’s oldest and most virulent hatred is not your fight alone but ours collectively.”

Sorry Muslims, your equivocations here do no favours.
Only Labour and liberals regard anti-Semitism as respectable, shit as the Tories are they no longer are.
Likewise-only one faith makes anti-Jewish insults and plans in its doctrines.Crap as Christians can be-and have been throughout history- there`s no getting round the fact that Jesus was a rabbi, not a “Christian”. And He fulfilled the Jewish Law to the letter and the gospels say so.
Only Islam makes a point of baiting, insulting and trashing Jews.
Which is why Labour and Muslim are now one and the same thing to the Jews.
Try again, that was no live branch, but a Muhammadan toothpick. Medhi Hasan once said the same, but it was all piss and wind too.

Holly Selassie, should that be olive branch?

The ad seemed like a genuine attempt to reach out to the Jewish community until the tired old moral equivalence card was played. There is absolutely no comparison between the virulent anti-Semitism suffered by UK Jews and the odd hostile glance, real or imagined, suffered by UK Muslims, even though there have been frequent terror attacks by the latter and Muslims are rampaging across the planet, enslaving, raping and killing anyone who doesn’t look and think like them.

And, need I add, so much of that anti-Semitism comes from Muslims themselves.

Recent news from Bill Still and Joe DiGenova: “It looks as though John Brennan is headed for a Grand Jury”. And likely others including Comey, Page, Orr, Clapper. I wonder whether the BBC will continue to ignore this story of conspiracy, corruption and criminality by the upper echelons of the FBI, and DOJ? Here is one of the greatest constitutional scandals and history of criminality that the US has seen in its hisotry, and the BBC censors everything.

I watched it . Actually I feel sorry for Boyle. A predictable bully who relies on intimidating his panel and audience as he indulges himself in foul mouthed tirades. The American girl looked uncomfortable throughout as I expect she felt that as a visitor she should not be party to what can only be described as perverted nonsense.
Our tax money pays for this. I support free speech without qualification and reserve the right to deplore Boyle rather than ban him. One half hour of him is worth a great deal in showing those ignorant of just what we in the counter revolution are up against and who our enemies really are.

ie is that cos poverty kids are moving from unemployed families to now WORKING families ?
..True but also wage rises haven’t kept with inflation.
Also if you are still poorish your relative poverty has increased cos more people are working so the wage pot is bigger.

Geert Wilders appeals hate speech ruling

    https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/world/geert-wilders-appeals-hate-speech-ruling-xzdh3pz73

Wilders is banned by the Dutch courts from saying there should be fewer Moroccans in Holland.

Wilder’s friend, Theo van Gogh, was murdered by a Muslim, Mohammed Bouyeri, because he made a film about the suffering of Muslim women in Holland. As he was being murdered van Gogh said to his attacker: “We can still talk about it!”

So, according to the Amsterdam courts, van Gogh was wrong. Dutch people cannot talk about ‘it’.

Under the article someone has commented:

“It’s funny how journalists never mention that this “racist” “Far Right” politician has a Jewish wife … or that the movement’s previous leader (Fortuyn) set it up as a gay rights party in reaction to threats of violence to gays posed by certain immigrant groupings.

Being ultra PC, a Dutchman murdered Fortuyn, to protect immigrants against Fortuyn’s campaigning on anti-violence.”
