Weekend Open Thread

‘Any Questions’ fielded the editor of the online ‘news site’ The Canary Kerry-Anne Mendoza without telling us it is essentially a mouthpiece for Corbyn…not a ‘news site’ at all is it?,  good of the BBC to give it a platform…though maybe not as what we got was childish, ignorant, partisan nonsense from the editor…a bit of insight into what you could expect from The Canary itself?

Interesting to hear Dimbleby describe the audience as ‘self-selecting’…always thought they were carefully and rigorously vetted and selected for impartiality and to provide a good balance that represented the full spectrum of political viewpoints from across the country….Dimbleby also suggested that most of the audience would like to eat less meat….is that because he ran a poll or because he knows most of them are lefty sandal-wearing veggies?  The latter I suspect.

Any instances of the BBC ‘self-selecting’ the news that suits it….list it all here….

So right, David R. Here’s a prime example of BBC “balance” in the Vince Cable Backlash story: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-43367204

All written in a way that just makes Cable’s offensive points, yet again, of course. But the telling part is when the paragraph break is an advert for other BBC website stories:

Have voters changed their minds about Brexit?
Cable: Brexit vote was ‘white nostalgia’
        Corbyn: Labour Brexit approach ‘sensible’

Hmmm…so we have an implication that voters don’t want Brexit (when all the evidence points to a frustration even among ordinary Remain voters that we should just get on with it and honour the democratic result…repeat of Cable’s first offensive witterings…and GUESS WHAT?…not an implication but an insidious little STATEMENT that the dangerous far-Left Corbyn is the politician who is taking the sensible Brexit approach. (We don’t buy the inverted commas, in this context they are almost meaningless, simply added in for that famous BBC “balance”.)

AAAAGGGHHHH! Impartial it is not. And this goes on, hour after hour, day after day. No wonder I can no longer engage with the BBC except for brief fact-finding forays in order to see what the enemy is up to.

A bBBC report on BREXIT…….. PLEASE SHARE THIS PROOF THAT THE BBC IS SPREADING FAKE NEWS ABOUT BREXIT and please complain to OFCOM, to the BBC trustees and to your MP

Also please copy a link to this post on every BBC Facebook and Twitter page

In the BBC article below (Link at bottom of this post) they give the false impression that the latest polls are moving to support Remain whereas the OPPOSITE IS THE CASE.

The LATEST POLLS from ComRes and ORB shows that the majority of those polled SUPPORT LEAVE and NOT REMAIN as this Fake News BBC article claims

The BBC makes this highly misleading, FAKE NEWS claim: “Similarly, four recent polls – conducted by ICM and ComRes between December and March – that looked at how people might vote in a second referendum, albeit without posing the exact question that was on the ballot paper, have also on average put Remain slightly ahead – by 51% to 49%.”

In fact the latest poll by ComRes reported in the Labour and Remain supporting Sunday Mirror on 3rd March 2018, with polling conducted after Theresa May’s Mansion House key note speech setting out the British government’s position on 2nd March, found that

    * the MAJORITY said they SUPPORTED Brexit

Furthermore the poll found that MORE THAN 80% of those polled

    * DID NOT SUPPORT Corbyn’s Customs Union plan
    * DID NOT SUPPORT having another referendum
    * DID NOT WANT Theresa May to call another General Election
    * Thought Corbyn should RULE OUT a Customs Union

Therefore this latest ComRes poll TOTALLY CONTRADICTS the thrust of the BBC’S article and in particular refutes the false impression that the latest ComRes poll put “Remain slightly ahead”

    https://www.mirror.co.uk/…/first-major-poll-theresa-mays-12…

Furthermore this latest poll below by ORB of 2,000 people published on 10th March in the Telegraph CONFIRMS the findings of the above ComRes poll and again totally CONTRADICTS the thrust of the BBC article and REFUTES their false and highly misleading claim: “Remain slightly ahead”

    The ORB poll found

    * If a referendum took place tomorrow 53 per cent said they would vote Leave, compared with 47 per cent who supported Remain

    * 67% believed that the EU was trying to punish and bully Britain and only 17% side with the EU

    * 64% believed that Britain will have more control over immigration after Brexit

It’s pathetic how -no matter what is being discussed- any R4 programme will make a diversion to lambast the ‘far right’, be it ever so briefly. This morning on ‘Start the Week’ at the ‘Free thinking’ (!) festival at Gateshead with Kirsty Wark, it was the poet who had to mention ‘fascism’ and it was Kirsty (or one of the other lady guests) who quickly had to make the link. Job done.
When one of the guests started up with ‘Brexit’, obviously feeling that -having mentioned ‘fascism’ the next obligatory bit of mud-slinging had to take place, she was cut short. Can’t make things TOO obvious, you know, and a highly intellectual discussion (they thought?) had to steer clear of such practical issues.
Intellectual? Same old drivel about the ‘commodification’ of everything, but new books to be sold…

It stridently champions diversity and multi-culturalism, banning NUJ members from even the slightest criticism of ethnic settlers. In tone it resembles a Communist Party directive in the Soviet Union, rigid instructions more than guidelines.

For decades journalists have used their influence to manipulate public opinion and the main reason for that are these strict guidelines, which all journalists must respect and which dictate what can or cannot be written or broadcast. These guidelines imposed by the NUJ have had a baneful effect on British democracy by establishing systematic censorship.”

“The guidelines state clearly that that parties opposed to mass immigration must be reported in negative terms, that journalists must promote immigration and diversity and whenever settlers commit a crime their ethnicity should ideally not be revealed.

And these guidelines were created by one of the most despicable of all British politicians, a man who, prior to becoming a politician, was even sacked by the BBC for gross dishonesty.”

In fairness, it was over the top to say Mr F knew about it personally, but what was telling was his anger in denying it and the speed he cut the caller off for doing it. I got the distinct impression that the caller had struck a very raw spot; that Nick Ferrari was well aware that he should have known about it and that the MSM has failed badly in not wanting to know about it.

What was telling was that every subsequent caller I heard on this subject was of “Asian” background. Did they screen out anyone else white for fear of what they might say?

I make that 776,000 British ambulance workers then! (80% of the 971,878 British workers in the NHS.

What areas of the NHS do EU staff work in?

Just over 35% of NHS staff from other EU countries, or 21,000, work as nurses. This amounts to 7% of all nurses. Since 2009 there have been large increases in the number of nurses from Spain, Portugal, Italy and Romania.

In percentage terms, EU staff have the highest representation among doctors – they make up almost 1 in 10 of this category. Among EU doctors, Greeks are notably represented – over 70% of Greek staff in the NHS work as doctors, compared with one-sixth of all EU staff. The number of Greek doctors has increased substantially since 2009.

A surreal moment on Toady this morning.
An Institute of Directors spokesman was interviewed. He was representing small business, as opposed to the big business CBI.
Just before the ‘we’ve run out of time’ line, the spokesman talked about the need to support business, the free market, and capitalism and then mentioned in terms the dangers of socialism. Yes, he used the S word. On the BBC. And got away with it.
What a pity Treezer and her Tory chums are so reticent to call socialism, Corbyn, and Mcdonnell out for what they are. The bBBC of course are never goingbto do it for them.

I’ve found the BBC’s anti-Brexit story with this but having trouble finding today’s anti-Trump ones.

Many people now regret voting for Blair & New Labour in 1997 after they bankrupted the UK which we’re still paying for with austerity measures. Labour messes up, the Tories have to clear up. I’ve watched this over & over through the decades.

We’re still in Europe & will still trade.

Well what a change at Crufts eh. A veritable bbbc wankfest of diversity, enrichment and multi culti groupthink clap trap. So many different sizes, shapes colours and orientations. The dogs were very diverse too. We’re all wearily used to the well documented bbbc distortions and lies by omission – er wot Italian elections, er wot grooming gangs, er it was a Norwegian national, but what I cant forgive are their blatant LIES. When one doggy so called expert proclaimed that dachshunds were trainable and enjoyed exercise, well the three of us, my good self, the current Mrs Marty, and Penny my longhaired mini nearly fell off the sofa sniggering and guffawing as youd expect from old white ignorant uneducated incontinent racist xenophobic prejudiced brexiteers.
I was deeply disappointed that we didn’t see any representatives from our favourite ideology aka religion of peace. So come on junior investigative bbc journalists, find those happy inspirational feelgood doggy companion stories. Maybe we’ll get Mullahs Muts next year – hey thats got a ring to it.
Anyway, we had lots of fun playing PC diversity bullsh!t bingo, obligatory lesbian tick, homosexual risque comic tick, paralympian tick, dual heritage aspirant yoof dog reporter tick. And then the adverts, mixed race couple with 2.4 dual heritage children tick. Ticked all the boxes so whats not to love.
In future lets just have the dogs in all their enriching vibrant diversity of sizes colours, shapes and natures, and a bit less of the enrichment, vibrancy, diversity, and virtue signalling clap trap from the presenters.

BBC appeals to UN over ‘collective punishment’ of its journalists by Iran

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20180312-bbc-appeals-to-un-over-collective-punishment-of-its-journalists-by-iran/

British broadcaster the BBC said on Monday it was appealing to the United Nations to protect its journalists in Iran after it said persecution and harassment by the Iranian authorities escalated in 2017.

“The BBC is taking the unprecedented step of appealing to the United Nations because our own attempts to persuade the Iranian authorities to end their harassment have been completely ignored,” BBC Director General Tony Hall said in a statement.

“In fact, during the past nine years, the collective punishment of BBC Persian Service journalists and their families has worsened.”
Britain’s foreign secretary Boris Johnson said in December he had raised “the official harassment of journalists working for BBC Persian and their families inside Iran” with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif when he visited Tehran.

Okay. It is a just cause, but they are educated professionals and therefore I am sure they were fully aware of the UK rules, or stupidly ignored them hence the current situation.
They are being thrown out because of time spent in Mexico. They have not had 5 continuous years in the UK and had gone beyond the 180 days allowance.
