When Toby Young was forced to quit hs position it was the talk  of the BBC, when Labour’s Munroe Bergdorf buggers orf it’s buried on the politics page and concentrates on his excuses whilst avoiding mentioning the actual comments that were so offensive such as hairy, barren lesbians and gay bashing.

Doing catch up on ‘Escape to the Country’ which up until today, bar a none-too-hectoring excess of ‘sustainability’ and ‘renewable energy’ messages, is pretty watchable in a soothing kind of way, helped by the fact the presenters aren’t the shrieking, wobbly-voiced types that are all too common on TV and radio these days.

Anyroad, this episode’s house hunting was in Lincolnshire and we were given the lowdown on Grimsby’s long-lost fishing industry (it was once the world’s largest fishing port).

Our presenter informed us this demise was due to the ‘Icelandic cod wars of the seventies’ – no mention at all of the real reason shared by pretty well all the residents of Grimsby, which was the EU’s Common Fisheries Policy introduced in the early 80s – the main reason behind the town voting overwhelmingly for Brexit.

To add insult to Memory Hole-induced injury, we then had a visit to a traditional fish smoking house WHICH HAS BEEN GIVEN PROTECTED STATUS BY THE EU (camera pans to EU plaque on the wall).

    Still spinning Orwell?

P.S. Feel free to comment on the sly, pro-EU BBC bias and fake reporting, Blackwell, the floor is yours…..

      Scrap the BBC.
Here is the real story by Austin Mitchell, Lab, MP for Grimsby for 40 years
      http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-5480261/Dont-let-unpatriotic-politicians-betray-fishermen-again.htm

“Because ‘Skipper’ Ted Heath was conned into accepting ‘equal access to a common resource’, our waters are open to any citizen of another EU country with a boat and a net. There’s no legal basis to the EU’s demand …
In my time as MP for Grimsby, I witnessed the over-fishing that the Common Fisheries Policy had led to, and have watched as foreign vessels suspected of over-fishing escaped checks by inspectors because they were too fast, while British boats that had done nothing wrong had nets inspected.
One of the worst scandals was the flagrant abuse of the rules which have allowed foreign vessels to register as British to cynically catch our quota.
Most surreally, I was once introduced to a man who I was told was the ‘chair of the Fleetwood (Lancashire) Fishing Vessel Owners’. He was Spanish and spoke little English.”

Now fishermen are again being used as bargaining chips by the government.
But it’s not just about the demise of our fishing industry – it’s about us reclaiming our territorial waters (200 miles). In other words as important as securing our borders – anathema to the EU and their propaganda arm the BBC.

My red lines – Borders, Territorial waters, Defence. No compromise.
      Bring out the gun boats!

I have noticed over the past couple of days on Radio 4 a concerted effort being made to de toxify the Left wing safe spaces of major UK charities. It is a blatant campaign with plenty of quips being inserted about the vital work of charities in nearly every program from a foreign shithole (and they broadcast from a lot of those).

It is culminating tomorrow in an overt series of programs solely about the UK charity sector and surprise surprise they will be covering the latest scandals to hit the left. Clearly this is a program made post Oxfam, and which would almost certainly never have been made if it had not been for the difficulties their left wing pals now find themselves in.

It’s like a white knight riding to their rescue, and it stinks!
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09thl66

In this first episode, Matthew asks what we think about when we think about charities, and examines whether the reality is different.
examines some of the recent scandals surrounding the charity sector,
an evening for volunteers who want to work with refugees and asylum seekers,

Watch out for more of this because I’m sure every other BBC channel will be doing everything they can to help out their embattled pals regardless of merits.

Has the big increase in money spent on fundraising recently resulted in more money coming into the sector? And how does what we imagine charities do to raise money differ from the reality?”

It’s International Women’s Day, a total wankfest for the virtue-signallers and victimhood specialists at the BBC. Especially those ‘self-identifying as female’. FFS.
Featuring yet another attempt to get more girls into STEM occupations.
Just one question for the BBC.
Is there an International Men’s Day?
    You get the idea.
An initiative to address the vast under-representation of men in, for example, medicine, dentistry, and nursing.
    No?
    Thought somehow not.

It has been said that people with an IQ of below 85 are virtually employable and if anything we need smarter people if we are to do better in the future as a country.
Obviously there are exceptions among individuals but looking at this site perhaps we should be ‘open door’ to Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Italy, Iceland, Mongolia and Switzerland.
Certainly we shouldn’t be too keen on people from Afghanistan, Iran, Jordan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Uganda, Algeria, Libya, Bangladesh, India, Zimbabwe etc. and certainly not from Somalia (68)!

If all these ‘Social Justice Warriors’ that ‘know’ that we plebs are wrong about mass immigration and Brexit etc. should be taking their intellects to some of the ‘sub-85’ nations? Mass emigration is surely the only valid moral stance? Equality, innit?

So the bBC has finally got round to reporting a knife attack in Vienna last night where a family of three were seriously stabbed by a man , who then ran off and attacked another man 30 mins later.
Austria attack: Afghan man admits Vienna stabbings
Funny the arrested man is an 23 year old Afghan, and the bbC reports the following:
“The man, an Afghan national, has denied a political motive for the attacks.”
Political?, the neighbourhood of Praterstern, where both attacks took place, is home to much of Vienna’s small Jewish community.

I wonder why the bBC left that salient snippet out.

BBC Inside Science today. I’ve heard plenty of tosh regarding climate change but today it sank to new levels. I tuned in because at least Rutherford wasn’t presenting the programme, but it made no difference. Here’s my complaint I’ve just fired off to the BBC.

    Complaint: Racist, offensive content

This is related to offensive comments and poor quality content. The item on Inside Science was about women in IT/computing (specifically writing apps I believe) and the lack of women, especially BAME women in IT.

The female guest was from a project to encourage more BAME women to train (no problem with that) but then she said something along the lines that they’d created a safe space for BAME women to train away from ‘the white man’s glare’ – the words in quotes were her actual words. I nearly swerved off my car the road.

I expect this sort of rubbish identity political twaddle on Radio 5, but not on Radio 4 and specifically Inside Science. Imagine if someone had said the same with ‘black’ instead of ‘white’! I was in IT through the 80s and 90s and managed a team of 12 programmers. I had 4 women (including 2 BAME). Where is the guests evidence that BAME women can’t train under ‘the white man’s glare’? It’s a science programme, why wasn’t this assertion questioned. Why was it even broadcast?

The BBC are obsessed with identity politics and appears to make people believe because of the colour of their skin or gender, they can’t be successful. Whoever puts this ridiculous idea into their heads is doing them no favours and makes everything about race. In fact, to keep going on about this is racist. Martin Luther King will be rolling in his grave – so much for having a dream about the day no one would give a damn about the colour of people’s skin.

The BBC don’t seem to be discussing this:

    http://www.melaniephillips.com/eu-s-solution-irish-border-issue-knew/

None of them ever mentions that the EU itself has identified the solution to this problem. None of them ever mentions this.

It is a study commissioned by the European Parliament’s Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs. Written by Lars Karlsson, President of KGH Border Services, former Director of the World Customs Organisation and Deputy Director-General of Swedish Customs, it “provides background on cross-border movement and trade between Northern Ireland and Ireland and identifies international standards and best practices and technologies that can be used too avoid a ‘hard’ border as well as case studies that provide insights into creating a smooth border experience”.

At long last. On TWatO (R4, 1-1.45pm today) an alternative to ‘the Mr & Miss Skrypal were killed an agent or agents unknown of the Russian State on the orders of the Kremlin’ narrative, so keenly pushed by the BBC.

Perhaps it was crime and gangster related?

But it did not come from the BBC. Instead the thinking was done for them by a contributor. There’s a long list of options but exactly like some politicians who say they are not going to speculate, the BBC continue to do exactly that but only while ploughing the one furrow when many others exist with earth yet to be turned.

The Corporation that brings us regular doses of John le Carre forgets what he teaches in many of his books. For example, if a traitor is a traitor once, he might be persuaded to be a traitor again, this time against his new paymasters.

When the self-opinionated George butted in about the Russian poisoning and was allowed to continue without the Chairman (or should I say the regular person representing the Left) not telling him to wait his turn. I thought that was what Chairmen were supposed to do. George reminded me of Owen Jones and other than filling a quota why does anyone at the BBC think I am interested in what George has to say?

For all their disparagement of us ‘low information’ Little Englanders, they do not think that maybe it is a bad idea to continuously insult the world’s most powerful man on our behalf.

Why are so many health stories making the headlines? It strikes me as a bit of a cop out, a retreat from reporting what is actually going on in the country as that might hurt someone’s feelings.

I read a good thread on Twitter about why BBC comedy is not funny anymore. Rather than surprising you with an unexpected truth about gender differences or whatever – something you know but cannot say – it just reinforces prejudices. The really funny stuff is often stuff everyone knows but doesn’t articulate, like Chris Rock’s material about platonic friendships from the man’s point of view who is actually thinking: “I have not f**ked her yet, but as soon as I figure it out I am in there.”

Also the whole speaking truth to power element is gone as the BBC IS that power. They merely sneer. They could never do a sketch parodying how laughable all their ‘diversity’ insanity is but boy would that get belly laughs at how true but unsayable it all is.

“And here is your sports desk with a woman who has never even watched a game of football and hates sport.”

Or all the ethnic news presenters telling whitey to f**k off when he gives a report.

God you could have an absolute field day slaughtering their sacred cows, just as That Was The Week That Was originally did so brilliantly to the establishment back in the sixties.

The world may not have turned upside down but it has tilted a bit

BBC tv news editors are clearly wrong-footed by the news from North Korea and it visibly sticks in the craw of their anti-Trump presenters to have to convey this bit of good news.

No matter, Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty get to have a good old smirk at EU threats to put politically motivated tariffs on US goods such as Harley Davidsons, Bourbon and Levi Jeans. What a lark. And what a surprise that the supposedly ‘free market’ Brussels union is in fact behaving as it always has as a small-minded protectionist tariff bloc.

Our BBC also seems to be somewhat bemused at what they call “State Dominated Russian Media” having a rather robust attitude toward their traitors.

Clearly this isn’t the same President Trump the BBC have been describing as a disaster for the last year.

Obama received his Nobel prize with in hours of becoming president for being black and a democrat. He then over saw a world engulfed in flames, Russia invade Ukraine, Russia gain the upper hand in Syria, the Taliban return to Afghanistan and the biggest refugee problem the world has seen since the second world war.

If the Nobel committee lowers itself to award its prize to a non lefty then it will be deserved. Trump has taken a high risk, single minded course and should be rewarded.

Biased BBC Radio News made themselves look really stupid in their prime 8.10am slot on TODAY and in the item that followed.

Looking at the front pages of the UK main newspapers, it seems they, too, have a desire to match the BBC for biased rubbish.

As for the TOADY discussion on Trump’s tariffs, why didn’t they get Dominic O’Connell on to explain what might happen once the tariffs are imposed and the possible disadvantages and advantages that may accrue? He at least appears to understand economics and business unlike Kamal Ahmed and Simon Jack.

It shows how poor the BBC have become as a broadcaster that they have a correspondent from overseas who is better than their appointed Editors.

The BBC man, what a joke.

So desperate to not give any credit to Trump for his tough N Korean rhetoric which they labelled unhelpful and juvenile, even though most of could that this was the only way to deal with a bully.

And on the news that the N Korean leader has been forced to instigate a meeting, the BBC say – “Our correspondent says Kim Jong-un has also scored a propaganda win, first with the Olympics and now by being seen to reach out to the US.”

Right, so the winner in this is the despotic leader of a failed and inhumane state. Nice one Beeb.

    https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/929251/Tony-Blair-award-democracy-USA-Lincoln-Brexit-EU-European-Union-Iraq-War-news-latest

    According to the website http://www.alplm.org/NewsEvents/Events.aspx
“The Lincoln Leadership Prize, established in 2006, recognizes outstanding leaders in diverse fields. In honoring leaders of meritorious quality, the Foundation celebrates Lincoln’s legacy of leadership. This prize is awarded to exceptional men and women for a lifetime of service in the Lincoln tradition, marked by great strength of character, individual conscience, and an unwavering commitment to the defining principles of democracy. It recognizes those individuals who accept the responsibilities imposed by history and demanded by conscience.”

It is even more laughable that his ‘conscience’ allows him to accept this.

Jeremy Vine sinks to a new low as he makes the possibility of a meeting between President Trump and North Korea a matter of great comedy. Dead Ringers, we are told, mocks ‘Trump’ because it is cathartic. You pathetic BBC snowflakes!

Then they are shocked that it appears to be so easy to get an audience with the president, not like with the ‘clever’ Obama where he was kept hidden away. Yes, one had to do clever things like smashing up a Radio Shack clock and putting the bits in a metal suitcase.

I can’t understand why it is ‘wrong’ to mock the dictator of North Korea yet stock-in-trade of the BBC to mock the elected leader of the USA.

OK, we’ve now got the possibility of dialogue and now that’s a bad thing. I’m very confused.

Satisfying as it would be to hear the BBC give President Trump recognition for the part he played in this, let’s not credit the beeboid Bicker with any sort of non-group think here.
Read it again. She is not referring to the possibility that Trump could win himself the Nobel Peace Prize. She is referring to President Moon Jae-in of South Korea.
According to her it is Moon Jae-in who has done all the legwork here and he is the one who could deserve the Nobel recognition, not President Trump.
Yes, I had to read it twice because I couldn’t believe a BBC reporter would mention Trump and the Nobel Prize in the same sentence.
They may be forced to give some grudging, faint praise to Trump buried deep in the story but to sway so far from the anti-Trump narrative would be unthinkable.
God knows how they would report it if President Trump did get Nobel recognition. Newsroom meltdowns all around.

    Re “White Male Gaze”
it’s a clumsy racist term to express that things that take place within a local culture or sociological framework

The current UK sociological context is is that education & media both seem *liberal-establishment* ..so that sets the rules
ie teachers /journos all seem to be lib/lefties
& if you are not lib/lefty, then you are not so free to express your views and have to stay in the closet.

Likewise Islamic countries often have a cultural context of “follow the big man”, rather than free thinking , so have rote learning in preference to independent problem solving.
So yes you get people who are good at large demonstrations etc. rather than inventing things.

Lefty and longtime anti-Trump presenter Shelagh Fogarty on LBC right now:
“Is Trump right to have offered talks? … Is he being played? … Is he naive?”

Sometimes you get the idea these media pundits would prefer a nuclear war rather than admit that Trump was right to use a strong response to deal with a bully – or that he could ever be right about anything.

Their little emotional brains cannot conceive that someone they snearingly regard as a racist and a misogynist – and even worse, sends hurty tweets – could do a better job in a short time than the last two did in their full terms.

Yesterday I met up with some old mates from university. One of them is and was a lefty. Used to be a bit of a hippie back in the day.
Anyway, whereas everyone else who were a bit lefty in those days have ‘moved on’ and became more right wing.
He hasn’t changed at all, he still believed in the coming revolution and he says Corbyn will deliver it. I listened to his theories on the benefits of multiculturalism, it was then I spoke up against it. He then said I was a ‘racist’.
As offensive as this term is, I ignored it but did explain to him that I considered him to be a ‘Stalinist’ in his thoughts.

He went mad,he started shouting at me. So it is okay for him to call me a name such as racist but not okay for him to be called a Stalinist.
Ironic since when at university I was one the few people that liked him!
This got me thinking, the Left don’t like to be called Stalinist. They really don’t like it.
So if you meet people who support the Corbyn Left, call them a Stalinist as it is exactly what they are. See what reaction you get.
I’d to see a people on BBC Question Time panels call the likes of Thornberry, Abbott et al as Stalinists. I would be interested in the reaction.

Historically the Left always say that the previous lot of Leftists who gained power (with the usual consequences) were not really Leftists, or were Leftists who made mistakes, and their Leftist revolution will be different, so labelling (however accurately) them with names which were once applied to previous Leftists will not affect them.

The reason he got so angry is that Leftists (if they are not simply cynical careeerists) are malignant narcissists who take all criticism badly. All that counts is their feelings. That is why pointing out the suffering caused by Leftist regimes will be a matter of indifference to them, merely something to be batted away with the rhetorical move that was then not now.

If they really cared about (for example) the poor, they would not be on the Left. The reason why they talk over you and try to prevent you from speaking is that is they know they are wrong, but their anger has to find some vehicle – never expect factual consistency or even any interest in facts to distract them from what is essentially a howl of rage.
