Mishal Husain called the Israeli ‘Wall’ a ‘security barrier’ [08:35] and accused Palestinians of killing Israeli civilians….men, women and children…..shocked outrage from the Palestinian being interviewed.  Maybe if the BBC had adopted such a more two-sided and balanced approach in all its reporting about Israel the peace might have been given more of a chance as the Palestinians weren’t given licence to attack the Israeli ‘oppressors’…so long so labelled by the BBC.

Anyway…new open thread, I’m sure the BBC hasn’t turned over a new leaf on every subject….if not list it all here…..

That must be Madgit. He is to the Islamic State what Albert Speer was to Hitlerite German. He styles himself as a “secular, liberal muslim”. Seems like an oxymoron. Spends alot of time on LBC justifying his jihadist past as a reaction to racist attacks on him during his youth. Yet again we are told that we are all getting the collective punishment we deserve for our “islamophobia” in the form of Muslim terrorism.

The name of the girl is Mya-Rose Craig and the BBC seem to have run a number of stories on her for the past four years. It wouldn’t surprise me if her parents work / have worked for the BBC and are involved in wildlife photography / journalism. They are based near to Bristol which is where the BBC have their natural history unit (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcasting_House,_Bristol) and aged 15 she has already been to 7 continents and 32 countries. The family don’t seem to be a Muslim family (they are certainly not a practising Muslim family) nor does she seem to be particularly ethnic. She is at least half white (father seems to be English). The above story is very strange. The net result of the above story is to create a lot of mud slinging at the “racist English”. I assume the girl must have been radicalised to believe she is Muslim (presumably mothers heritage) and that Muslims are a victimised species.

An indication of the apparent success of the left, and its unity with radical Islam, is the fact that the brother of one of the Manchester victims turned up with socialists, trades unionists and antifa to drown out the speeches made at Robinson’s book launch
From Dave Cameron’s UAF FB Page
      Unite Against Fascism
      12 hrs ·
Around 400 far right followers attended Tommy Robinson s back of a lorry, book ‘launch’ tonight, in Manchester. High but not the numbers he wished for. Hat’s off to Dan Hett, who lost his brother in the Manchester Arena terror attack. Dan made the brave decision to be at the counter protest.
His speech was brilliant and warmly received by around 150 anti-fascists.
#Manchester UAF, trades unionists, MPS and others drowned out much of the hate speech. Robinson did not get the 1000 he got in the city in June. However he and his Islamophobia need opposing. Tonight’s strong United front approach showed how we can undermine the far right.

“Sarah Montague hardly let him finish a sentence”

Not unusual, she always wants her opinions to take precedence over facts.

Some years ago, I had a client who would listen very carefully to every question, statement etc and instead of answering straight off, he sometimes kept the other person waiting several seconds before replying! This always unerved me to start with, but, after realising how he worked we eventually did a lot of business together, so that was fine. (Negotiations sometimes took a long time though…)!

But lots of other dribbling autocue readers could all be unnerved by this simple tactic! Just let their drivel hang in the air for all to see and hear, then drop the bombshell answer. They’re not generally good at asking questions, except AN of course!

JRM is very good at this, and is clever enough to bring in a quip or two while he is formulating his answer. Jeffrey Archer, (when he was famous), was even noisier, yelling, ‘Please let me finish, you’ve asked me etc, etc etc and I want to give you an answer’!

But why decent people are intimidated by the questioner’s conduct beats me!

    – People don’t find out about that rule until they’ve applied online, so they don’t bother to turn up, cos can’t be bothered with the hassle of losing a whole day.
    – Meanwhile other fans turn up to queue from way before 9am, to be sure of getting in.

The bBC rewite history and remake the man who by himself destroyed the British car industry as a ‘Hero’ and a victim:
Red Robbo: The man behind 523 car factory strikes
Film-maker Ken Loach, who made a documentary about Mr Robinson, said his story encapsulated a “critical moment” in the battle between Thatcherism and the power of the unions. The director believes Mr Robinson was “betrayed” by a union leadership with whom he had a thorny relationship.

Christopher Lunt worked at Longbridge until MG Rover – the successor company to British Leyland – went into administration in 2005.
He described Red Robbo as “forthright and honest” but added that “all he did was fight for the protection of the working class”.

Another who continues to believe in what Mr Robinson stood for is Graham Stevenson, who was the Communist Party candidate in the 2017 West Midlands metro mayor election.
He hopes his friend will be remembered as “one of those stalwarts in the post-war era that maintained a better life for ordinary people”, not as an “agitator” or “destroyer” which he said was “a complete invention”.
For Mr Stevenson, the dismissal of Red Robbo was “the first shot in the war that Thatcher began against working people and their families”. “He wasn’t at all like what the media portrayed him as in the 1970s,” he said. “He was a very competent man… in private life he was very kind and very caring.”

As for his Red Robbo nickname, Mr Robinson told MPs in 2000 he regarded it as a badge of honour. “I can sleep sound at night because I never betrayed the workers I was elected to represent,” he said.

Now imagine if you are a young child, adult and have never heard of Red Robbo.

    • Rob in Cheshire says:

Any member of the working class stupid enough to follow Red Robbo would eventually find themselves a member of the non-working class.

In the 1970s British Leyland had many good car designs, which were let down by poor workmanship and shoddy build quality. No wonder people preferred a Datsun which actually worked, unlike the cars produced by Red Robbo and his Communist fellow travellers.

Not the only ones grasping at a Dolchstosslegende to explain away Brexit defeat.

      — A veteran Labour MP has demanded that the government open a judge-led inquiry into the possibility that Russia interfered in the EU referendum last year.

Ben Bradshaw, who was culture secretary in Gordon Brown’s Labour government and campaigned to remain in Europe, said there is mounting evidence that Vladimir Putin’s regime has “actively and deliberately” attempted to subvert democratic votes around the world.

He urged the UK government to treat the issue as seriously as the US, where former FBI director Robert Mueller is investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 elections and whether President Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with the Kremlin.

Speaking to Business Insider, Bradshaw said:

“We need the government to wake up to this. All we have had, up to this point, is stonewalling and obfuscation. There now needs to be a full government investigation into all aspects of [Russian] subversion.

“It should include concerns about the hybrid social media warfare, including paid-for Facebook adverts and fake Twitter accounts used as bots, as well as an investigation into impermissible donations.”

Last week, Bradshaw said specific attention should be paid to the “dark money” used to fund the Leave.EU campaign. Leave.EU and other anti-EU ventures were financed to the tune of £9 million ($11 million) by UKIP donor Arron Banks. Leave.EU did not immediately respond to BI’s request for comment.

Bradshaw said any government investigation should be led by an independent judge, who must have the power to subpoena documents. The Labour MP for Exeter added that he and other MPs plan to actively lobby the government to open the inquiry over the coming months.

So the bBC reports on the surprise resignation of the Lebanese PM:
Lebanese PM Hariri resigns, saying he fears assassination plot
Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri has resigned, saying in a televised broadcast he feared for his life, while also fiercely criticising Iran. Mr Hariri’s father, former prime minister Rafik al-Hariri, was assassinated in 2005.

So who does he feel is targeting him? as the bBC doesn’t mention. Could it be the same people who murdered his father in 2005. Why if so that was Hezb-allah with the hand of Syria and Iran up their arse , that conclusion comes from a UN report on the murder of Hariri senior. Funny enough in :
    France
    Germany
    lndia
    US
    Middle East
They are made aware of just who is to blame. Which funny enough comes hours after Hariri junior was forced by the President (A Hezb-allah supporter) to appoint a ambassador to Syria, (The first since the cedar revolution) the same PM who stated the other day that in the next war between Israel and Lebanon, Israel would lose and hours after Iran stated it vows to protect Lebanon’s stability and yet the bBC doesn’t even touch on any of those salient facts.

Ah the bBC have updated their Lebanese PM resigns article and they blame…..Saudi Arabia:
      Saudi influence at play?
Mr Hariri’s resignation has come as a big surprise, plunging Lebanon’s often turbulent political scene into new uncertainty. He has had a complicated political career, moving to and fro between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia – his family’s key backer. His resignation follows recent visits to the Saudis, raising speculation that their influence is likely to be at play. Certainly, his ferocious denunciation of Iran and Hezbollah, which his own militia once battled unsuccessfully on the streets of Beirut, is in line with Saudi policy.

The Iranians have spent a lot of time and effort in cultivating their presence in the Uk: Corbyn, The bBC, The NUS, kind of explains why the Mad Mullahs get such an easy time despite being one of the most odious regimes in the world, (The US executes less than 21 a year and it is evil, Iran does between 500 to 1000 a year and it gets a pat on the back) the rise in Anti-Semitism and the polarization of Saudi Arabia

BBC News 24 reported on the so called report “confirming” man made global warming compiled by thirteen American government climate groups. Who should the Beeb have on to give their “expert” opinion? Someone well known to these pages, climate alarmist Richard Black, who was introduced as the CEO of a body called The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit. The interview was obviously scripted, with the questions designed to elicit the ‘correct’ answers. It gave Black the opportunity to ridicule and sneer at Donald Trump and his administration, and AGW sceptics in particular, and pull faces and roll his eyes to emphasise his contempt for them. The BBC interviewer never once mentioned Black had previously worked for them, when he was the most fanatical and fervent AGW alarmist. A little research reveals that the group he fronts gets a lot of its financing from a shadowy group called the European Climate Foundation, which was set up to channel millions of pounds, much from progressive foundations in America, to British and European green lobby outfits. The most significant source for the ECF’s millions is an organisation called Climate Works. This is a private foundation which channels colossal sums of money to climate campaigners worldwide. There are other front organisations funding Black and his group, so I wouldn’t be surprised to find Soros behind the ex-Beeboid’s activities. Strange how the BBC presented this charlatan as an independent and impartial voice. Every time the BBC interviews so called independent experts, I make it a point to research their background and nearly every time they come from some form of advocacy group or special interest organisation. But, hey, what’s journalistic integrity when you have a narrative to push.

I was not disappointed to find it was the “I hate Trump/Brexit more than you” willy-waggling love-in I expected. Added to that, Peston has had a book published this week, don’t you know.

The interesting part of this mutual back-slapping for me occurred after the segment featuring Peston was over. Vine posted a video to his own personal Facebook page showing the two of them eulogising over each others’ recently-published books. The video was recorded and posted while R2 listeners were hearing music. You can see the video here: https://www.facebook.com/thejeremyvine/videos/2073580579528483/

A Deceptive New Report on Climate Change
True, the U.S. has had more heat waves in recent years—but no more than a century ago.
    By
    Steven E. Koonin
The world’s response to climate changing under natural and human influences is best founded upon a complete portrayal of the science. The U.S. government’s Climate Science Special Report, to be released Friday, does not provide that foundation. Instead, it reinforces alarm with incomplete information and highlights the need for more-rigorous review of climate assessments.

A team of some 30 authors chartered by the U.S. Global Change Research Program began work in spring 2016 on the report, “designed to be an authoritative assessment of the science of climate change.” An early draft was released for public comment in January and reviewed by the National Academies this spring. I, together with thousands of other scientists, had the opportunity to scrutinize and discuss the final draft when it was publicized in August by the New York Times. While much is right in the report, it is misleading in more than a few important places.

One notable example of alarm-raising is the description of sea-level rise, one of the greatest climate concerns. The report ominously notes that while global sea level rose an average 0.05 inch a year during most of the 20th century, it has risen at about twice that rate since 1993. But it fails to mention that the rate fluctuated by comparable amounts several times during the 20th century. The same research papers the report cites show that recent rates are statistically indistinguishable from peak rates earlier in the 20th century, when human influences on the climate were much smaller. The report thus misleads by omission.

This isn’t the only example of highlighting a recent trend but failing to place it in complete historical context. The report’s executive summary declares that U.S. heat waves have become more common since the mid-1960s, although acknowledging the 1930s Dust Bowl as the peak period for extreme heat. Yet buried deep in the report is a figure showing that heat waves are no more frequent today than in 1900. This artifice also appeared in the government’s 2014 National Climate Assessment, which emphasized a post-1980 increase in hurricane power without discussing the longer-term record. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently stated that it has been unable to detect any human impact on hurricanes.

Such data misrepresentations violate basic scientific norms. In his celebrated 1974 “Cargo Cult” lecture, the late Richard Feynman admonished scientists to discuss objectively all the relevant evidence, even that which does not support the narrative. That’s the difference between science and advocacy.

These deficiencies in the new climate report are typical of many others that set the report’s tone. Consider the different perception that results from “sea level is rising no more rapidly than it did in 1940” instead of “sea level rise has accelerated in recent decades,” or from “heat waves are no more common now than they were in 1900” versus “heat waves have become more frequent since 1960.” Both statements in each pair are true, but each alone fails to tell the full story.

Several actions are warranted. First, the report should be amended to describe the history of sea-level rise, heat waves and other trends fully and accurately. Second, the government should convene a “Red/Blue” adversarial review to stress-test the entire report, as I urged in April. Critics argue such an exercise would be superfluous given the conventional review processes, and others have questioned even the minimal time and expense that would be involved. But the report’s deficiencies demonstrate why such a review is necessary.

Finally, the institutions involved in the report should figure out how and why such shortcomings survived multiple rounds of review. How, for example, did the National Academies’ review committee conclude that the chapter on sea level rise “accurately reflects the current scientific literature on this topic”? The Academies building prominently displays Einstein’s dictum “one must not conceal any part of what one has recognized to be true.”

Mr. Koonin was undersecretary of energy for science during President Obama’s first term and is director of the Center for Urban Science and Progress at New York University.

Unfortunately ‘climate science’ has been hijacked by a ruthless bunch of hard left environmental zealots and ‘one world’ authoritarians who have shaped their ideology into a plan for the 21st century – the UN Agenda 21.

With the backing of most of the world’s media they are looking depressingly unstoppable – if real world evidence and the likes of Climategate and 28gate can’t wake people up to their fakery then nothing will. Even a rapidly advancing new glacial period wouldn’t do it as they would still twist the ‘science’ to blame it on man-made emissions, as they were originally doing in the 70s:
