I live in the Lake District mate and I know how you feel, we are getting immigrants in dribs and drabs, the way we can tell is because we see the crimes reported in the papers.
Some people would say that just by saying that I am a racist, but it is true.

On another site I read a take on the immigration figures and the misleading way they present them to us.

Of course, nobody believes these figures but these are the figures we have to work with.

It’s about the ‘net’ immigration numbers.
Over the last few years it’s been around 300,000 or so net immigration.
However, this is made up of something like 600,000 coming in, many of them poor uneducated men who have little chance of getting a good job and contributing to the UK as we are told they all do.
The 300,000 or so who are leaving are many self sufficient Brits or pensioners with few money worries.

The point is, it isn’t 300,000 coming in, it’s a swing of almost a million every year towards the uk population being less white Brits and more African, Asian, Arab and so on.
The population of the uk is 65 million (I know, but I’ll use that figure) so a swing of 1 million each year takes us more and more into being the minority in our own Country. 10 million swing in 10 years.

When do we lose our Country, 2030?

Stop using the word immigrant. They are unwanted free loaders, we do not want or need.
Their only function is to pollute and contaminate OUR country.
The country which millions died to preserve.
We need to use the approved methods of our ancestors, they worked well, just stop them, all actions allowed.

      Emmanuel ,

I find the fact that the CBI and al beeb are both in agreement that the arrival of more guest workers is a good thing full of irony .

Clearly neither organisation cares one bit about the conditions of individual British people ( those that go back generations ) and only care about their own God – either Profit or Multiculturalism .

I recall that ukip said that in pulling out of the EU uk could take a financial hit. That is yet to happen . UKIP said it would be worth the freedom of getting away from the French and the Reich. I agree.

Saw this on RT. Poland continue to publicly criticise Germany & France at the latest get together. I question whether they will be prepared to give up the short term cash for the long term benefit but just maybe they have woken up to the fact it’s only a matter of time before they are going to be shafted. Would be nice to think this hairline cracknow could develop into something bigger. Watching Juncker & Lagarde sat together at this latest swarray should be enough to wake anyone from their apathetic state.

If Poland were to leave the eu, logic would say that as they were a net receiver of monies they should also receive a huge ‘divorce’ payment.
If we, as a net contributor, are required to pay to get out, they, as a net receiver, should get paid when they leave.
I wonder how many billions they will be entitled to, commitments to build motorways, airports and stuff.
Can anyone fault the logic there?

          Fed up.
I mean that the eu should pay Poland.
We pay to get out and pay to stay in.
Poland gets money from the eu so would Poland get a huge lump sum from the eu if they left.

I agree with paying until we leave although I think I’ve seen instances where we are left out of goings on in the eu and are thus not a full member now. Maybe a drop in contributions is justified.

This morning I’ve heard that labour want deals with the eu, basically a soft type of Brexit.
          What is it with politicians.
We want out, fully out and completely out.
Not a mish mash of conditions and still paying in, having them interfere with everything or basically, out in name only.
Why don’t they do as we voted for and leave.
          They are laughing at us.
Maybe the worm will turn and we will have our day.

            Yes I realise that reasoning.
What I was thinking / hoping – was that another member starts to make noises about leaving whilst we are still making our leave arrangements.

The clock is ticking so fast – exit is March 2019? So 18 months left ? Even if Labour turned into ‘A Remain Coalition ‘ to get to another referendum they are , hopefully ,running out of time . Personally I would prefer the inevitable chaos of no deal on Brexit and sort stuff out afterward. The pound would fall so low that EU citizens wouldn’t be able to live in Blighty !
I’ve got interests in the EU so time to buy euros before we hit parity or worse!

Do any of you know if the BBC between 1939-1945 were more interested in the football scores or the

I could be less politically correct. But lets leave it as Islamic Terrorism . However the latest goal or
the latest test wicket seems to me more newsworthy on the BBC than a Moslem brandishing a

Do you really want to know? Or do you just want to have your preconceptions confirmed?

There are plenty of histories of the BBC in WW2 which will tell you everything you need to know, and you can get them through your local library. In a nutshell, though, the powers that be at the time (that would be Mr Churchill and his team, in conjunction with the BBC), discovered that sombre music and a stream of bad news was counterproductive in a country under siege, so they gave us ITMA, Much Binding in the Marsh, Hi Gang!, Workers Playtime and other light entertainment. Much of it poked fun at those running the home front and the endless forms and regulations, all with the full approval of the targets, because it gave the audience an outlet for their frustrations. Bad news was played down. It all did wonders for morale and the BBC is widely acknowledged as playing a vital role in securing victory on the Home Front.

    Buckingham Palace suspect was brandishing 4ft sword, police say {bbc.co.uk 26aug17}
A man arrested outside Buckingham Palace on Friday night was brandishing a 4ft sword as he repeatedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” (Muslim Islamic Term for ‘God is Great’, normally used in Jihad), police say.

A Palace spokesman said summer opening hours and tours will go ahead on Saturday, adding that it will be “business as usual”.

    Article Text Search reveals:
    Terror x 4
Allah Akbar x 1 ( ‘Allah Akbar’ is an Islamic , thus Muslim, term for ‘God is Great’)
    Muslim x 0
    Islamic x 0

“It was quickly declared a terrorist incident last night,” he said.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan thanked the officers for “ensuring that not a single member of the public was injured”.

Brandishing – wave or flourish (something, especially a weapon) as a threat or in anger or excitement.

    – In conclusion, nothing to do with Islam. An excited man waving a sword.

I am please to report that in both todays Daily Mail and Saturday’s The Times both reported that Damian Collins (Speaking at the Edinburgh TV festival yesterday) has threatened to close the BBC ‘loophole’ – used by the BBC exclusively – to keep BBC salaries a secret. The article(s) goes on to explain how the BBC has taken it’s ‘stars’ ‘ off-the-books’ into private (and jointly held) BBC production limited companies. At least 96 BBC (although there are 3,000 freelance on similar schemes) staff – so called ‘stars’ – have BBC arrangements to conceal their personal BBC salary through ‘private’ production companies wholly or part owned by the BBC. This is likely to be far more than the £150,000 ‘rich list’ recently published at it does not includes ‘repeat earnings’ and ‘royalties’ or license fees which are sold ‘worldwide’ which are held at arms length (and FOI requests) from BBC central.

I can reveal however the number of private wholly owned TV production companies that are 100% wholly owned by the BBC to offset salary requests from parliament (or nosy parkers; such as Conservative MP’s like Damian Collins who has every right to ask). So does the TV license fee payer.

Before I reveal the full extend of the BBC cover up of high figure salaries (not all of which are anything like ‘stars’ but people who cannot get work anywhere else) like Alan Yentob (for example).

    Read this:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4824858/BBC-told-reveal-star-wages.html?ITO=1490

And then only last year the BBC were under fire from the HMRC for not paying enough income tax.
    See:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3827796/Taxman-probes-100-BBC-stars-alleged-tax-avoidance.html

And lets-not-forget the 40 lies the BBC told the government in 2016 regarding how necessary the BBC TV license fee was to preserve their ‘private income’ from inquiry. And then have the bare faced cheeks to continue to hide behind BBC private contract companies whilst ‘extracting’ the maximum BBC TV license to fund it all. You can read more of that debate and BBC lies effectively here:

    https://www.opendemocracy.net/ourbeeb/david-elstein/40-lies-bbc-tells-about-subscription

I support Damian Collins to reform the BBC by exposing the fat cats expenditure and it’s private companies to avoid paying income tax. This is on top of its inability to pay any Corporation tax despite it’s name) and the fact that private companies (owned by the BBC or BBC ‘stars’) do not have to comply with (FOI) Freedom of Information requests and can hide PENSION perks in such private companies which are also ‘hidden’ from public gaze.

According to the TAXPAYERS ALLIANCE: ‘The BBC receives most of its income, at around £3.7 billion, from people paying the £145.50 annual TV license fee in order to watch television live’ and it costs the BBC £11 million to collect the license fee each year with ‘reminders’. Its not hard to see where the money disappears down the back of the sofa.

Thanks to an FOI request here: FOI request the BBC have revealed that they own eighteen private BBC companies registered as wholly owned by the BBC to ‘manage’ property, satellite and Freeview licensing, commercial ‘holdings’, more property (in London), BBC News (is even a separate company) which has sub companies (private contract companies held by ‘star’ presenters), iView technologies (that would be BBC iPlayer repeats), BBC investments, BBC Pension schemes and benefits (I kid you not, this is also REPORTED UNSUSTAINABLE (see TIMES quote below) , and BBC Furbs (well it would be) and many more like this. There are then another 3,000 freelance BBC staff with more private contract companies (also exclusively owned by the BBC) that work exclusively for the BBC (under contract) to one of these 18 private BBC companies. How neat is that! HMRC go get ’em all.

Lastly a quote from The Times on UNSUSTAINABLE ‘BBC PENSIONS’

‘It may even be worse. The BBC pension fund had a shortfall of £1.7 billion at the last count. Simply to repay that deficit, it is having to demand giant infusions of extra cash from the BBC, in March taking a single payment of £220 million. Or to put it another way, of the £147 license fee, £8.54 was swallowed up last year merely to make up for shortfalls in respect of promises made decades ago. That drain on license fee payers is scheduled to go on for another 11 years.

The BBC won’t divulge which or how many of its highest earners are on staff, let alone whether they are members of the pension scheme. Without this information, its list gives a very partial picture. They must have long since exceeded the lifetime allowance of £1 million allowance, the notional £1million pot mark, at which point benefits are punitively punished’.

…’This week’s revelations have already exposed a pay divide at the BBC based on gender, but there is an equally ugly one based on length of service. Younger, newer staff at the corporation are cross-subsidising older, longer-serving colleagues’.

Recently we on this site reflected on Indian independence, as the bBBC had for some reason decided to really big up the 70th anniversary.
We also noted that the driver to create a two country solution was Mohammed Ali Jinnah the leader of the Muslim League. He asserted that a Muslim homeland was needed because what unites people is religion above ethnicity or language.
So with that in mind, why do we refer to all the attacks in Britain and around Europe, most recently at Buckingham Palace, as terrorist attacks?
Surely a better and more accurate description would be religious attacks ?
After all, the bBBC could hardly be apoplectic when this is simply the logical approach, not dreamt up by some right-of-centre enemy of the bBBC but following famous Muslim leader Ali Jinnah’s own approach ?

It’s not about al Beeb but more important – labour is calculating that is it reposition. itself to be a ‘remain’party it will get enough votes next time for a working majority . It might even get the loony remainers like soubry to cross the floor or surrender the Tory whip. It might lose people ‘up north ‘ too but will calculate on gaining more remainers.

That is supposing the current lot lose the working majority or vote of confidence. Dangerous time as the EU will look for something to upset the negotiations . The DUP really will call the shots now.

If Eire border problems lead to renewed terrorism there – that might tip the balance.

Click on the links. I don’t know anything about her apart from the fact that the BBC writes about four stories a day on her. Seems to be an American female pop singer who may be some sort of feminist.

She has ‘people’; lots and lots of them.

The BBC also has ‘people’, in the thousands.

Her people know their people, and they are the luckiest people in the world.

          Apparently.

Licence fee payers… not so much.

Grant, no. Trans the multi-million $ and well on the way to a $bn. Current BBC favourite. Ed Sheeran is so yesterday.

Neither need free advertising from the BBC.

(I think the BBC may actually be trialling new revenue streams with one eye on an impecunious future.)

At my age I’ve no idea what Taylor Swift’s music sounds like (like many pop stars these days). I don’t think it was always thus – for many reasons, I think popular music used to be a lot more “popular” and crossed more boundaries, certainly in this country.
Brian “Stray Cats” Setzer said that when he came to this country he was amazed at how universal pop music was here, and that even old ladies watched Top of the Pops and knew who Adam Ant was.
Taylor Swift? I dunno, she’s just some painted doll who appears in the newspapers most days. She looks like she might have emerged from the womb clutching a contract.
