In a tongue-in-cheek article, Washington Post journalist Philip Bump did some calculations around Donald Jr’s statement, using data showing that the annual chance that an American would be murdered by a refugee was 1 in 3.64 billion.

The BBC hated this….

Picture of a bowl of skittles. Accompanying text says: "If I had a bowl of skittles and I told you just three would kill you, would you take a handful?''

Just how unlucky are those 11 Americans who were knifed by a Somali refugee?

Ohio State attack: Suspect with butcher’s knife, reportedly student and refugee, killed as eleven victims injured

The BBC tells us….

In a tongue-in-cheek article, Washington Post journalist Philip Bump did some calculations around Donald Jr’s statement, using data showing that the annual chance that an American would be murdered by a refugee was 1 in 3.64 billion.

Based on his sums, it would take about one and a half Olympic swimming pools of Skittles in order to find three killers.

One thing, amongst many, wrong with the BBC’s counter to Trump jr’s analogy, is that you don’t have to find the attackers…they come to find you…so the chances are increased massively that an attack will happen.

It’s only been two hours since the BBC reported the attack…can’t be long before we hear that the attacker had mental health problems…due to racism and society’s failure to integrate him and accommodate his values and cultural expectations.

Don’t forget, one of the Podesta emails said that “it would have been better” if the Orlando shooter had a ‘white’ name. Add that to the BBC’s attempts to change the name of the Munich killer from Ali Dawad to ‘David’ and you can see what’s going on here – ideological subversion, no different from the oppressive regimes of Soviet Russia or Communist China.

That’s why they’re trying to control the internet as well, under the guise of ‘fake news.’ There is of course fake news out there, but as someone who can think for myself I would prefer to be able to do my own research and cross-checking than allow a partisan authoritarian presence to decide what I’m allowed to hear.

As we know Muslim terrorists have mental problems and are victims, white guys with known mental problems are extremists.

Probability is all to do with the exact wording used. It is easier to use the National Lottery odds to explain…

The chance of me winning the next Lottery is more than 1 in 14 million.
The chance of anyone winning the next Lottery is about 1 in 3 to 1 in 2.

Same for being murdered by an immigrant:
It is probably true there is a 1 in 3.64 billion of a particular named person being murdered. But this does not mean the chances of any other Americans being murdered is remote.

That’s why Zebras stay in herds, less chance that an individual Zebra will be eaten but that doesn’t mean no Zebra will be eaten.

Aren’t these the same people who play the appeal to emotion on gun violence by saying “one life lost is too many/if we can save one life it’s worth it”? Now they’re trivialising a murder by saying that it had a low probability of happening.

Not to mention that they got upset about Trump’s Skittles analogy, yet supported a far more offensive and statistically unjustified feminist use of the exact same comparison a year earlier when they tried to suggest that all men should be mistrusted because some of them are rapists.

Liberal double-standards, the only standards they have.

It’s been astounding to watch this story disappear further and further into the depths of the BBC website as more and more details have emerged about the attacker, i.e. Being an immigrant/Islamist, last night it was 3rd from bottom of the list of stories and this morning is nowhere to be seen. As soon as I read the initial article when the story broke and saw all the key phrases there in the article such as “motive not clear” and a refusal to give any description of the attacker I knew immediately he had to be a member of the religion of peace and or an immigrant. Some how all this will be Trumps fault and the disgusting “racist” “deplorables” that voted for him

Plus of course there is no facility to comment on the article on the bBBC’s website. They must know how much flak they would take.

On the same track, has anyone else noticed that on the Daily Express website, comments are hardly ever allowed on articles concerning the Religion of Peace?

No mention of the attack on Radio4 5 o’clock news, but plenty of time for Eddie Mair to deploy heavy irony against Eric Bristow (MBE). By the by – is Jo Coburn getting even worse at allowing guests with whom she evidently does not agree with to speak without interruption ?

        Andrew,

And wildlife documentaries, so you can’t hear the commentary. Are Beeboids so think that they cannot work out that people who love nature just want to see the natural world, listen to an informed commentary and don’t want to listen to mindless disco music at the same time ? But the BBC do not give a 4X because they are totally unaccountable. Wankers.

I realise my mistake, this is not a news article but more a piece of apologetics, the music is designed to set the mood for said apologetics. I always was a bit slow on the uptake.

The news is pretty well buried but the headline under:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world/us_and_canada
is Police probe ‘terror’ over Ohio attack

No mention of eleven dead in the headline and sticking the word terror in quotes trivialises it even more.

BBC are so sick. They called the Nice Muslim terrorist ‘Nice lorry attack’. An attack sounds like a fight in a pub car park. But when Saint Jo Cox was ‘attacked’ the BBC journalists have the full English dictionary to choose their headlines from.

  9. NCBBC says:

To be murdered by a refugee is 1 in 3.64 bn or 1 part in 3.6 .10^^9

Therefore, the odds for two to be killed are 3.6^^2 . 10^^18.

And if one calculates the odds for the Orlando massacre by a Muslim, the odds are 1 part in 3.6^^50. 10^^50.

That is so small, that one can say confidently, that the odds for a terrorist attack in which more then two or three are killed, is almost zero.

So please remove all security checks for Muslims.

This is the kind of argument ones hears from Lefties. A popular one is: as there are approximately 40,000 road fatalities in America each year, it is unacceptable that America made such a great deal about 9/11, where a mere 3000 were killed. My response, is : So you are saying that terrorists should be able to attack America, without fear of retaliation, as long as the fatalities are kept below say 10,000 per year.

Yes, that would probably fall into line with the BBC’s correspondents’ & presenters’ apparent wishes that there would be equivalence in the deaths of the inhabitants of Gaza and Israel.

      Disgusting!

Perhaps it is because the BBC send journalists routinely to terror atrocities and conflicts and present the same to us that they become inured to the horror of it all?

It’s just a different re telling of the Russian roulette argument.

The fact is of course completely PC, to present refugees in the best possible light. The fact that 11 people are dead is completely ignored, and yet again it’s that sneering liberal elite that you are just thick, because you have a one in 3.64 billion chance of being killed, you should ignore the danger.

However there are around 320 Million Americans and if 11 have been killed this year then the chances of being killed is much lower 1 in 29 million.

Over the next few weeks watch your local BBC news program and the News channel, not the main bulletins, the less formal items.

Count the number of times someone is given airtime for their personal campaign, typically the discussions end with ‘…if I can just stop it happening to one person it’ll be worth it’.

Strange how the interviewer never challenges them with ‘…the chances of it happening to someone else are so small…’
