The Guardian in the Gutter

Jo Cox, Labour candidate for Batley & Spen

Labour MP Jo Cox has been murdered and just hours later the Guardian has passed judgement in its editorial which actually compares those who criticise Islamist extremism with the Islamist extremists of the Islamic State and of course blames the mild and sensible Nigel Farage for Jo Cox’s death…..

The rhetoric of western racism and Islamophobia is the mirror of the ideology with which Isis and al-Qaida secure their recruits and that persuades them to strap explosives to themselves, and die in order to kill. It might be especially powerful in Britain, at a time when divisive hate-mongering is seeping into the mainstream.

The slide from civilisation to barbarism is shorter than we might like to imagine. Every violent crime taints the ideal of an orderly society, but when that crime is committed against the people who are peacefully selected to write the rules, then the affront is that much more profound.

What nobler vision can there be than that of a society where people can be comfortable in their difference? And what more fundamental tenet of decency is there than to put first and to cherish all that makes us human, as opposed to what divides one group from another? These are ideals that are often maligned when they are described as multiculturalism, but they are precious nonetheless. They are the ideals which led Ms Cox to campaign tirelessly for the brutalised and displaced people of Syria, and – the most painful thought – ideals for which she may now have died.

This was no random event, and the police are investigating reports that the assailant yelled “Britain First” during the attack. This is not merely a chauvinist taunt, but the name of a far-right political party, whose candidate for City Hall turned his back in disgust on Sadiq Khan at the count, in sectarian rage at a great cosmopolitan city’s decision to make a Muslim mayor. The thuggish outfit denounced Ms Cox’s murder, as it was bound to do. But their brand of angry blame-mongering could very well serve to convince particular individuals – especially those who are already close to the edge, as it is reported Ms Cox’s murderer was – that some people are less than human, and thus fair game for attack.

The Guardian ends with this plea to honour Jo Cox’s memory as it uses every trick in the book to use her death to peddle its own political agenda……

The idealism of Ms Cox was the very antithesis of such brutal cynicism. Honour her memory. Because the values and the commitment that she embodied are all that we have to keep barbarism at bay.

Note that ‘This was no random event, and the police are investigating reports that the assailant yelled “Britain First” during the attack.’

Curious that the Guardian doesn’t take note of its own reporting…

Neighbours say suspect, named locally as Thomas Mair, did voluntary work but he may have suffered mental health issues.

n 2011, he was photographed by the local paper volunteering in nearby Oakwell Hall country park. The previous year he was quoted in the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, saying he had begun volunteering after attending Pathways Day Centre for adults with mental health problems.

“I can honestly say it has done me more good than all the psychotherapy and medication in the world,” he said. “Many people who suffer from mental illness are socially isolated and disconnected from society, feelings of worthlessness are also common, mainly caused by long-term unemployment.”

He added: “All these problems are alleviated by doing voluntary work. Getting out of the house and meeting new people is a good thing, but more important in my view is doing physically demanding and useful labour.

“When you have finished there is a feeling of achievement which is emotionally rewarding and psychologically fulfilling. For people for whom full-time, paid employment is not possible for a variety of reasons, voluntary work offers a socially positive and therapeutic alternative.”

Channel 5 news says this…

I’m sure we’ll find out the truth once the ‘police have investigated’…in the meantime the Guardian draws its own conclusions and blames Farage for the murder.

I think the wrong newspaper was closed down when the News of the World was shut for phone hacking….then again that was because of a Guardian lie as well.  Perhaps it is time the Guardian, the terrorist supporting Guardian, shut its doors.

Not only do they trot out the above disgusting diatribe, but they will no doubt stress that her death must not be used for political gain, which is precisely what they are doing here. If Jo Cox’s murder is proven to be politically motivated, which seems unlikely given the information we have, the guardian will attempt to tar everyone with the same brush and pin it on the “far-right”. Typical lefty hypocrites who can’t see the irony of their own bullshit. The guardian, and all it’s contributors are absolutely beneath contempt.

Well.. the sick ( and dying Guardian ) managed to beat the indecent haste of the ‘queers’ of using deaths in Orlando to promote their own political agendas for themselves at the exclusion and derision of those of us who are genuinely humanitarian .
For me Jo Cox is everything I loathe in a politician, but I feel very sad that a person who believes they are doing what they feel is right is murdered in cold blood. An MP being murdered is so rare I really at the moment haven’t taken stock ( not that an MP is more worthy )… unlike it has to be said of the ‘Daily Mail’ whom I suspect to be fifth columnist in it’s online toilet roll headline slurring ‘Britain First’ and of course ‘Brexit’.

Daily Mail “fifth columnist”? For sure, it is so totally inconsistent, as many faces as the clock in the church tower.
For all that it does at least print opinions that most of the establishment press would not dream of.
I suspect its role is as a kind of bellwether, to test the opinions of the public, and of course to enhance the illusion of a free press.

Hatred is an emotional dislike for someone or something. It could be for a reason such as being subject to an assault. Mentally Ill people usually just hate themselves but can have an irrational hatred of what someone says, as Stephen Fry has said about Bipolar disorder, and what people say about it. So simply the MP may just have just asked her mentally ill killer if he was felling OK today, and he just snapped, turning self-hatred into an extraverted expression of hatred for being subject to an innocent question that he hated being asked.

Through the internet, I have tried to gain as much information as possible concerning the murder of the Labour MP. I have spent some hours on this and my conclusion so far is that the hapless Jo Cox, MP, was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Must have been over fifteen minutes given over to the death of this woman who none of us would have known of.
And now she`s Mother Theresa ?
Makes me heave. This is not to disparage the death of someones mum, daughter or wife at all-but the BBC will use this to create a Pavlik Morosov or a Horst Wessel as they choose-and this they did within only eight hours of the poor lady being declared dead.
    1. “Listen to this-disturbing account of not only what was seen but what was said”
2 “In his only account to the media, Clarke Rothwell tells us that he heard “Britain First” said by the attacker”.

All this, despite other eye witnesses saying that he actually didn`t say anything…but hey, that would mean that “Britain First” footage of flags and BNP type marches could not be used from the stock archives.
And that would never do-why waste a good corpse…the Millie Dowler plan again.
Never seen such a rapid, deceitful and slanted hagiography-woman`s not even laid out in the mortuary brfore the BBC are trying to get us to stay in the EU, like her hubbys boat urged us to yesterday.
This was all followed by a history of other attacks on MPs…we didnt get to hear who stabbed Stephen Timms because she was a Muslim-we did hear who blew up Tory Ian Gow-that was the good old bhoys of the IRA, so well done them eh?
How the hell do the BBC dare to put out this crap without the usual waits for charges, not rushing to judgement, fears re stigmatising the mentally ill….let alone “nothing to do with Islam/UKIP” memes!
The BBC are odious creeps who use cadavers as body boards to push their evil agendas…I`m voting OUT so we can get rid of the BBC and hopefully rehabilitate Jo Cox…who the BBC has caused me to despise, after Laura Kuennsberg elegies and Corbyns bloody prayers at a vigil…these godless scum would no more mouth a prayer that tell the truth for once.

No one gave a shit about Cox yesterday, now she was destined to be the saviour of UK politics, she’s Mother Therese, Joan of Arc, Jackie Kennedy, Evita and Princess Di all rolled into one..a woman of the people yet could mix with royalty and saints alike in just the same manner.

I’ve no doubt this woman was a decent person and, more importantly, a good mother but the same could be said of just about most women in the UK. The way the left has adopted her for the remain campaign’s focal point is disgusting and shameful, I’ve no doubt that come June 24th not one leftard will give a shit about her husband or kids because it’ll be back to project destroy the UK.

Something appears to have happened at the Guardian about two years ago. No real idea what it is or was. But I heard how one or more of the staffers rubbished in print the tribute at the Tower of London to the dead of WW1 which really captured the public imagination and was a great success despite some failings, such as broken poppies received by sponsors through the post. Since then it has seem to have kept up with gutter press when previously it stood very much to one side of all the other newspapers and had its own investigative & campaigning successes.

Was it the failings of an Ed Miliband led Labour Party? Or did they think they had to fight fire with fire? Or was/is it financial worries that has turned them nasty? Is it the threat of many media alternatives in a digital age, when newspapers may disappear?

The Guardian had been sliding into a strange amalgam of US style consumerism cut with Liberalism and identity politics……cultural Marxism…..for years.

It was never a worker friendly leftism….I still remember its prevarications over whole hearted support for the miners strike….they loved the miners wives but I think they were always a little bit scared of actual working class MEN, a bit too…..rough….perhaps?

Then there was the repeated election advice from Polly “Tuscany” Toynbee……”put clothes pegs on your noses and vote New Labour to keep the Tories out”….and then….perhaps the final straw….”vote Lib Dem to keep the Tories out”.

They never recovered from the Lib Dem betrayal. There’s a t shirt sums it up…..”The Guardian…wrong about everything, all of the time.” Sadly as an ex reader I just see them as trying to live up to that satirical t shirt slogan now.

Cast your mind back to the French gunman who shot little kids in the head in 2012. The BBC were quick to lead us to believe it was the work of the Far Right. I remember them even rolling out a liberal rabbi to condemn them and call for Jews to stand in solidarity with Muslims. So I accepted the BBC were right. Not very long after I read this the perpetrator was revealed to be Muslim and I noticed that the BBC lost interest. Up till then I had thought that accusations against the BBC were greatly exaggerated. I learned my lesson. I am still angry at this deception. And that is why I joined the people on this website.
It is perfectly legitimate for to speculate on a shocking occasion such as this one and that is what we are doing here. But it is not OK to present speculation as fact for political ends as is done by the BBC and Guardian. We have to examine everything they say because they are not trustworthy.
As for myself I have no time for political violence of the left or right. And it may well be that the murderer in this case was a right wing nut job. But I also remember my time as a left activist how tolerant a large portion of my comrades were about political murders when they were carried out such groups as the IRA. The Brighton Bombings for example.
Left or right political assassinations should have no place in a civilized democracy.

As for claiming that Nigel Farage is responsible that must be the rock bottom. The Graud hit a new low. Anything that publication puts out should be subjected to intense scrutiny such as the BBC justly gets from this blog site.

I was commenting on the Guardian’s CIF thread on those horrific Toulouse shootings. Naturally there was a large contingent of lefties there attacking the ‘right’ for that atrocity – in precisely the same fashion as this vicious Guardian editorial.

When the news broke that the terrorist was in fact an Islamist, an extraordinary thing happened: one of the lefties was so ashamed of having apportioned blame and having rushed to judgement that he apologised and said that he would no longer be commenting on CIF.

As with ‘professional’, paid media, reactions varied. A few followed the path of Newsnight’s Christoper Cook, of course without the reach of a national broadcaster of integrity. Most here advocated caution sadly lacking from many in the MSM, and their followers, after expressing sincere condolences.

With every attack perpetrated by a Muslim the default BBC position is to leap to the defence of Islam and claim the two are not linked and that you cannot tarnish a whole community due to the actions of one idiot. The murder of Jo Cox is being treated differently. An unproven, and increasingly unlikely, shout appears to be all the evidence needed to tarnish the Brexit camp. If you cannot see that unfolding in front of your eyes you are either an idiot or a bigot.

Birstal is about 5 mins away from where I grew up. It has always had a bad rep, especially Fieldhead Estate LIke Ian Trafford in this story, he grew up on fieldhead. Which is where the prick who lkilled Jo Cox lived all his life. He has a history of mental illness, has been reported to scrub himself clean with brillo pads. And he has been reported by virtually all the media that he screamed Britain first during his arrest. However to the bBCs credit they report what he actually said:
    “Put Britian first”
However whilst I am more than happy for the full story to come out, it appears the left aren’t and are trying to equate this killing as an example of the ugliness behind the leave campaign. Really, do the left think we are really that stupid? As for the person above, how many times have the posters here got it wrong when it comes to pointing out the people behind the vast majority of murders around the world, funny enough the very same left pointing out the link to remain (Is there?) they go out of their way in which to defend the ROP.
This murder is ugly, but you know what, have you noticed how the Political elites are screaming murder most foul
it would be nice if they did so when it is everyday people who pay their taxes who get murdered.

The media, including the BBC, were very quick to point out that the idiot who committed mass murder in Orlando was a “lone wolf” and of course “was nothing to do with Islam”.

The reporter on last night’s BBC news at 10 said the killer of Jo Cox was allegedly heard shouting “Britain First”. By all accounts this man was mentally unstable – this is what I call a genuine lone wolf – so why no mention of this phrase or of his mental state in the news report? Viewers were deliberately left to make the connection between Britain/Brexit and the murder of an MP.

Contrast the reporting on these two events – agenda at work at the BBC.

There’s a fine line between fair eulogising and taking the opportunity to give a little tip of the balance in favour of your own favourite causes.

I’ve noticed two instances so far where BBC reporters have strayed into editorial comment and have crossed that line.

Yesterday BBC tv news used that well established canard of the Left “divisive” :
Jo Cox we were reassured… ‘unlike other politicians, was not “Divisive”‘
Clearly she was on one particular side of political discourse and would have separated herself (divided herself) from the other side on a whole range of issues. “Divisive” is a weasel word used by the left-leaning media for those taking a more conservative position.

Now this morning a reporter for BBC tv news in Birstall editorialises by insisting on reading out to us his chosen message of remembrance which he has rather dramatically copied onto a slip of paper and pulls from his pocket in order to share with us : “We have lost one of the good ones”. Again the implication of this is quite clear – there are obviously ‘bad ones’. The comment is given full force of BBC approval with the reporter picking this line from all the others.

The BBC should be reporting the facts, and the facts only, in a dispassionate manner, in this terrible case. The facts are as follows: a member of parliament was killed in an altercation with a man who was motivated, most probably, by political views influenced by his being of unsound mind, but this is not yet clear. This is how it would have been reported on the ‘wireless’ in the old days. The BBC, instead, turns it into a Hollywood blockbuster of ultimate good (Cox) against ultimate evil (Mair).

The trick is to present one view as “above politics” and opposing views as……boo, hiss “divisive”.

It is of course divisive to campaign for foreign interests against British fishermen and their families.

This does not justify murder, nor the underfunding of British mental health services whilst ring fencing foreign aid budgets.

No one deserves what happened for their beliefs, but elevation to sainthood in this case seems a stretch, if one already being attempted.

It is hard not to see taking the whole family in a rubber boat to challenge a fisherfolk protest as at the very least raising various stakes.

And with the YAB and others now demanding a single violent action by a person in the UK on another person in the UK as reason to call off a vote, future elections will surely get ‘interesting’ in the Chinese sense.

Sorry as I have to rush out I haven’t read all the comments, my point may have been made.

It occured to me yesterday that the nutter who murdered her was more likely doing it for her work in international development rather than Brexit or far right sympathies. To automatically make the Guardian’s assumption is lazy thinking & just plays politics.

I have a lot of sympathy with what many of the ‘far right’ organisations across Europe are saying re. Islamic immigration & the danger not only to our culture (make no mistake, Islam dominating would mean the iconoclasm of all our museums, galleries, theatre, & concerts), but also a threat of bitter violence, the destruction of liberal tolerance (be very scared if you are gay). It is serious.

Problem is that any organisation putting forward such rational ideas tends to attract nutters & thugs. Of course such extreme is encouraged by the msm because of their oppression of freedom to express these concerns through normal channels. A lot of the thuggish violence is sheer frustration of not having any other way of making a valid point.

However the most extremism by far is carried out by anti-fascist groups, who ironically exhibit more fascist behaviour than any ‘far right’ movement.

It is interesting that the Guardian, (& implications of the BBC) very quickly labelled last week’s killer in Florida as mentally unstable (barmy), whereas yesterday’s murderer of Jo Cox a member of a far right group. The former in Florida was clearly very sane, whilst the latter was mentally unfit in my view.

The truth, as far as I can gather it from BBC R5L, is that Jo Cox may have been murdered by a fully paid-up member of the Heinrich Himmler detachment of the UK Independence Party who was wearing a brown shirt and wielding a pair of home-made Lugers while singing ‘England uber alles’ under instruction from Nigel Farage, or may not have been, it’s difficult to tell just yet.

Predictable and cynical of BBC R4 Today to use the horrible murder of Jo Cox to further their own pro-remain, political agenda. The suspect’s long history of mental health issues is downplayed and relegated to a brief mention at the end of a report in the bulletins.
Elsewhere we hear lots of Jo’s pro-immigrataion views and sympathy for Syrian refugees. Reports of another, unrelated incident where Jo received hate mail. This implies a dark, sinister plot by forces of the right.
The take away message seems to be; “Vote remain for Jo. It’s what she would have wanted. If you vote Leave, you’re a supporter of murder”.
It’s very distasteful and I hope people see through it. Any reasonable person will totally abhor assassination and murder; but it doesn’t mean we have to agree with the victim’s political views.

It’s reported that her husband is also a ‘charity worker’, so I assume the pair of them have always lived off of the tax-payer (hence plenty of spare time to play in boats, mocking the working-class scum)

If a large part of her time was spent campaigning for Syrians, then it’s very likely that this would upset some constituents, and it could be that the attacker screamed something along the lines of “why don’t you put the British first” whilst carrying out the attack on her. Pure speculation, but we’ll see as info comes out.

I’ve always been of the opinion that Britain First is a state sanctioned group anyway. Just look at what they get up to, yet they never get more than a slap on the wrist from the authorities. They seem to get away with as much as UAF and Hope Not Hate do. Compare this with the treatment of Tommy Robinson and activists of other fringe, anti-immigration groups.

Also, can you imagine the Far Left’s reaction if one of their current hate-figures, such as Jeremy Hunt, had been murdered? I’m fairly certain they’d be celebrating, and their web pages would be full of memes about his health policies causing deaths, so his is justified etc etc.

    Will the referendum be postponed?

Perhaps they have not decided until they are sure that Remain will win, in which case it will go ahead. But if they think Remain will lose, it will be postponed, and the funeral with overwhelming luvvie grief will take place close to the date of the referendum.

Maybe it is tin hat time, but this tragedy is being milked for its benefits.

It would now appear that Breitbart have done some investigative journalism and paid a visit to the area of the murder (Bond Street) and had a look for the one and only Graeme Howard. There are, apparently only two properties in Bond Street and no-one knows or has heard of Graeme Howard. Was it simply a phone call to the Guardian stating the caller was a witness? Look at the link again as I have posted above.

      • Mike Hunt says:

Yes Old Bloke, he seems to have been made up, so there is now no evidence at all of the “Britain First” shout. I posted this earlier:

Shop window note: “Please note I did not tackle the gunman and no one! shouted Britain First at any time

        http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/06/17/britain-first-eyewitness-bnp-member-list/

Breitbart did some *real* journalism today – how refreshing! They actually went up to Birstall and had a look around.

First of all, they found no record of the witness named in the Guardian – Graeme Howard – living in the area at all, this was the witness who the Guardian relied on for the “Britain First” quote in their Twitter feed yesterday.

Breitbart went to Bond St, where the Guardian said Mr Howard lived, and could find no trace of him. There are only two residential addresses on Bond St (it’s a short street and mostly shops) so it shouldn’t have been hard to track him down if he really lived there, should it?

Local dry cleaner Aamir Tahir was also quoted as hearing the “Britain First” shout, but Mr. Tahir later told other news outlets that he “wasn’t there [at the scene]” and simply heard the allegation as second-hand information. Another witness, Hicham Ben Abdallah, has said that he heard no such claim.

So now everyone has recanted apart from Graeme Howard who doesn’t seem to exist, so there are no eye witnesses left. There are however eyewitnesses saying they definitely did not hear the reported shout, and in fact it seems most likely that he shouted nothing at all.

(NB Now that Breitbart has flagged up the non-existent witness, watch out for phoney “Graeme Howard” appearances on the BBC a la Brett Martin, and they won’t show any of the counter-witnesses.)

Breitbart also found a sign in a shop window (presumably the cafe?) saying: “Please note I did not tackle the gunman and no one! shouted Britain First at any time“.

I went to the BBC website expecting to see a full retraction but they were too busy virtue-signalling Cameron/Corbyn and ignoring the Leave leaders 🙄

The BBC and liberal left are tastelessly trying to turn Jo Cox into a martyr. Their narrative is she was threatened by the dark forces of the Right and Brexit, but bravely chose to be put to death rather than renounce her liberal left beliefs.

It really is distasteful to weaponise her murder in this way. I hesitate to make the comparison, but it brings to mind the way Goebels turned the murder of Horst Wessel by a communist sympathiser in 1930 into a propaganda coup. I’m not suggesting it’s an exact parallel, but the way the BBC is forcing the “facts” to conform to their chosen narrative is worrying.

The “take away” should surely be that whatever our political views, we should be free to express them without fear of violence and murder.

I agree entirely with that. I had intended to keep away from discussions on this subject as I felt it was the respectful thing to do, but the sheer political haymaking by the Remain side is making it impossible to do so. But the attacks should be on the disgraceful politicking, not the deceased. For instance, in the Guardian right now:

‘The well of hatred killed her,’ Corbyn says

Corbyn’s speech in full: ‘We will not allow people who spread hatred and poison to divide [us]’

Cameron’s speech in full: ‘Where we see intolerance we must drive it out of our politics’

For crying out loud, there’s not very much we do know for certain right now. The killer may or may not have said “Britain First”, or have had white supremacist views. But the one thing we do know is that he suffered from mental health problems, so to claim it was hate or intolerance that drove the crime is to jump to a huge conclusion not backed up by any hard evidence right now. But we all know why they are doing it. To gain political advantage.

      And finally:

A book of condolences has opened at Batley town hall. One message describes Jo Cox as “our own Princess Diana”

I don’t think it’s what they meant, but Princess Diana is exactly what it’s starting to feel like.

        Roland,

Yes, a Di moment. But the “well of hatred” does not seem to apply to Islamic extremists. Cameron’s “intolerance” comes from the Left, of which he is part. Why doesn’t he join the Labour Party ?

I try to keep out of the Left’s insanity about Israel, but surely its relentless demonisation must count as the finest example of ‘hatred and poison’ in the book?

By Corbyn’s logic, every single attack on a Jew, for any reason at all, should be laid at Labour’s doorstep.

‘Hatred’ has now joined ‘Racist’ and ‘Islamaphobe’ in the Not the BBC Bookie Wookie of Editorial Guidelines as a great way to isolate any discussion that doesn’t suit the hive parameters.

I once saw a Graun CiF thread whose first comment was ‘Wait for the haters’. As well poisoning goes, timing is all.

It worked, unfortunately. Mind you, the mods usually are there if anything that harshes the mellow slips in.

David Baddiel did not just say he hated Katie Hopkins but that he would like her dead.Lee Mack made the cheap nasty joke that if Katie played the piano she would only play `white` keys.
If Katie Hopkins was murdered in a similar tragic way to the Labour MP one wonders how the political & media establishment would report and respond to it

Deborah/Grant 100% totally agree – Misguided as I believe she was I do believe that what she did, she did because she believed that she was doing the right thing. – Which is all any of us want to do.

Call her naive – I am sure she was, but I do think as Deborah said we should at least try and treat her memory with a little bit of respect and kindness. It was always the British way and isnt that part of what we are all about.

However regarding the current media hypocrisy, manipulation and insinuation – yes we do need to fight this. But we need to choose our words carefully. We are fighting an enemy who will use all their media savvy to lie, twist and put words into our mouths as well as simultaneously playing the “sympathy” card. We need to stand firm but not get drawn too deeply into their web of deceit and doublethink.

It is their last roll of the dice and they know it – so we can expect much vitriol over the next few days. If we stand firm and keep our opinions focused on the facts as the the left become more vocal and vitriolic hopefully the public will realise where the true hate is coming from.

We had a taste of this with the delightful Mr Geldof on Wednesday. Stinking rich and full of vitriol. He just knows who is responsible for all the problems in the world. Obviously his experience in the pop world and a part time career as a poverty porn artist has given him unmatchable insight into what is wrong in the world and also makes him an expert on the British fishing industry.

Armed with their “righteous anger” and arrogance I am sure they will have difficulty in keeping their true opinions to themselves. Hopefully, we just need to keep our head and not panic.

Manchester Lad – totally agree, though I have nothing against posts on here which expose her political views in full, as these are the views the likes of the Guardian and BBC are holding up as some moral compass we should all be following. So, for example, her support of Palestinians and opposition to Israel in my opinion reveals the hypocrisy of the Left. Corbyn said ‘We will not allow people who spread hatred and poison to divide [us]’ – hatred and poison is what unequivocal support for the Palestinians will help spread as any brief visit to Youtube will show.

If she had been murdered by a UKIP supporter from Thanet who had travelled to Yorkshire for the purpose after seeing the photograph of her on the Thames on Wednesday the Remaniacs might have some sort of point; but she was murdered by one of her own constituents who is known to have mental health problems.

Her killer can claim that he was ill and delusional when he killed her. The BBC, Toynbee, Massie et al have no excuse for their despicable behavior.

All the talk about free access to MPs’ surgeries, and the security risk involved tries to suggest that Mair had gone to wherever he found himself with the express intention of murdering Cox. Initial reports mentioned Cox getting involved in some sort of argument involving Mair and someone else. Is this the case or not? If Cox got herself involved in some random act of violence, claims that the “tone” of the Brexit campaign led to political violence, even if the perpetrator were unstable, are simply ridiculous.

Given substantiated facts remain sparse, the definitive nature of too many emotional claims from politicians and media ‘professionals’ are laughable.

So far I have heard nothing definitive confirmed, which given the circumstances is hardly a surprise.

Or the fact the void such uncertainty creates is being mercilessly exploited by a collection of the most dubious usual suspects.

ID, it’s my belief that the left have become increasingly terrified in the last year (since the migrant crisis, the rise of Trump and the Leave campaign). They have watched in mounting horror as their ‘control of the narrative’, held for half a century, has started to slip out of their hands. The terrible murder of Mrs Cox, so close to their impending defeat at the referendum, has given them a chance to claw back some of that emotional high ground, like the last ditch counter-offensive of the Germans at the Battle of the Bulge. The fighting will be fierce.

The killing won’t change the minds of committed Leavers at this stage, but I believe it may be used as a way of motivating the ‘reluctant-remainers’ and those who can’t be bothered, to go to the polls, and by unspoken implication, to vote Remain. ‘Do it for Jo’, ‘don’t let her death be in vain’, ‘don’t let hate triumph’ etc. Urgh – it makes my skin crawl. I hope I am wrong – but the way the BBC jumped on the Princess Diana bandwagon just hours after the murder doesn’t give me much hope.

That feels better, thanks Polly – I see the world much clearer now. Gee so now when I look at the 1883 people killed in the name of Islam in May, (from http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/) , I dunno Polly there seems to be a connection there…

I am told that the referendum campaign has been suspended out of sympathy for the murdered MP.
But the reality is that the ‘Remain’ campaign hasn’t as the media are taking it’s cause up with continued references to Jo Cox being a ‘remainer’ helping Syrian refugees and linking her death to brexit and the ‘right’.
The remain campaign has got really dirty rather than being supended.

Maybe the killer was a disgruntled Labour supporter, upset by seeing his local MP campaigning for the loss of his brothers fishing jobs around the country. After all, isn’t the Labour Party supposed to champion British jobs and British workers? What on earth was this Labour Party MP doing on the Thames the day before her murder, advocating the loss of British jobs and British Industry and sticking two fingers up (Like Geldof) to those who are fighting to save their livelihoods?
