Open Thread

The Open Threads are in overdrive these days…..with Labour mouldering in opposition, the Public resistant to global warming propaganda, immigration undermining Britain and Islamic  teachings in the spotlight, the BBC itself is in overdrive to re-educate us, to sweep the bad under the carpet, to paint a glorious picture of Life as it should and could be if only we’d listen to, if only we’d co-operate with, our Betters.   They have so much to teach us.

Apologies if this has already been brought up but today CBBC (yes childrens TV) broadcast a program in which the adopted children were allowed to organise their quote ‘parents’ civil ceremony. The program explained about civil ceremonies and treated the fact that these kids parents were dad and dad as a perfectly normal thing.

They’re brainwashing our kids, to do so we now have two BBC kids channels broadcasting 12 hours a day, drip, drip, drip.

BBC reporting about Spain is pretty thin, considering the serious problems over Gibraltar. Maybe they should publish this hoot of a tale about Spanish inefficiency/corruption :

Did I just hear that right?

BBC 5 Live in the morning is a bit of a Gang Show

(A Gang Show is a theatrical performance with a cast of youth members of Scouts and Guides. Adult leaders and parents help out behind the scenes)

Nicky Campbell is the starlet and arch prima donna – but he’s away at the moment. Must be either bulk buying Kleenex for My Lost Family, stalking elephant poachers or maybe simply on his hols.

Rail prices are going up. Our BBC performers explain Government policy is to reduce subsidies and shift costs to the rail users.

‘If you ask me : is this a stealth tax? – I would say yes’

Did I just hear that right? The economic misnomer is bad enough. The assumption, however, that somehow everything subsidised by the State is free is a Leftist sleight of hand. The change would in effect reduce taxes! The problem is that I assume these Beeboid airheads really believe their own nonsense.

Are there no adults there at the BBC helping out behind the scenes?

Thought for the Day with Canon Angela Tillman got as close as it’s possible to get on the BBC, to criticising Islam for its oppression of women, and the burkha for depersonalising and isolating them.

I wonder whether their homilies are read by a censor prior to broadcast, and if not whether we will hear from Ms Tillman in the future.

Last night before bed I noticed this tweet:
    The Associated Press (@AP)
    12/08/2013 19:45
BREAKING: Security agents say suspected Islamic militants kill 44 praying at mosque in northeast Nigeria
Such events are sadly rare, and any innocent deaths tragic, but certain aspects of the victims and the perpetrators stood out, so I resolved to search more widely this morning, to see what £4Bpa buys one in trusted news sourcing and broadcast.
Nothing on the home page, but ‘near-death experiences’ get explained.
It seems actual ones may need a bit more narrative enhancing, even if tucked away at the back:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world/
Seems ‘gunmen’ have ‘killed’ 44 at a Nigeria mosque.
How is this not front page? No EDL acronyms sprayed on a nearby wall. How will the ‘communities live in fear’ here secure their place on the local news today?
Luckily, if you burrow on, you get to…
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-23676872
‘Nigeria unrest: ‘Boko Haram’ gunmen kill 44 at mosque’
A few notes, if I may. ‘Unrest’ (to use ‘quotes’) seems rather quaint for slaughter by now. On the matter of quotes, I do wonder if ‘Boko Haram’ is a quote, a way to suggest doubt on perps, or there was no space to offer a hint on the oddly shared religious faiths involved?
And finally, ‘kill’. Really? Just, ‘kill’?
‘At least 44 worshippers have been shot dead at a mosque in north-eastern Nigeria, officials in Borno state say.’
There is much that is not known, and I’m all for watertight oversight in such cases, but sometimes the BBC’s selective news management and subbing in certain areas can make you wonder if they have agendas they push, and areas they don’t go.
Which is propaganda backed by censorship.

Reporting mass murders in mosque, NIGERIA.

How do Beeboids describe the above in their headline?-

“Nigeria unrest” -is the vague Beeboid phrase.

A more accurate, but censored phrase would be: ‘Islamic jihad massacre’.

    Beeboid headline:

“Nigeria unrest: ‘Boko Haram’ gunmen kill 44 at mosque”

Seems to have struck a chord?
      Maybe not just with us.
Since I first saw it, it has been bumped from a one liner to a paragraph, if on a backwater page.
Who knows, maybe they may come to see our point that this may be ‘news’?
      Eventually.

An interesting insight today into how the global politico-media machines notice, priortise and react to certain examples of world mayhem.
Some bloke who may have been a smidge different to another kills him in a fight somewhere…. the international presses literally run hot, for weeks. Leaders opine.
A bunch of lads claiming to be pretty much the same team as another collection of poor folk massacre as many as they can and… not so much.
    Funny old world.

Arch-‘Guardian’-BBC-Labour Party political propagandist, Ms TOYNBEEB, churns out another predictable piece today, demanding that the the financial, monopolistic, political status of the BBC is sacrocanct.

I was particularly amused by this bit:-

“Let no one doubt how much the BBC agonises over bias, although its self-criticism, recently on immigration and climate change reporting, is always seized on as another weapon by its enemies.”

Yes, Beeboids sitting around, agonising, working out just how much political bias they can get away with for:- the Labour Party, the E.U., mass immigration, Islam, Green Peace, Obama, etc., etc.

Should Ms TOYNBEEB indicate a ‘vested interest’ in wanting to preserve the present political BBC, indicated by how many times she has appeared on BBC TV and radio over, say, the past 10 years or so, and what ‘socialist’ political line she has pursued in her appearances?

‘The BBC stands as a monumental public good’
Not sure Ms. Toynbee has grasped that the BBC manual on telling it often enough is rather discredited now.
One commenter notes she’s has swerved away from her usual Labour PR today following Mr. Bryant’s carcrash yesterday, and moved to what she evidently hoped was a safe haven.
Sadly, looking at the comments, and especially those recommended, she seems set to be sadly disappointed, on top of deluded.
And when you lose the Graun crowd Pol, and Aunty, you are in serious doo-doo.

‘It’s nigh impossible to impose a lead on the multifarious outputs of the 8,000 or so staff of BBC News’
Really? I thought it was easy: if it’s ‘on-narrative’ it’s in, and enhanced. If it’s off , it’s buried an not even an FoI can prise out why, as it’s excluded by being non-journalism journalism.
And diktats seem pretty much the only order of the BBC day.

WOW I AMAZED ! For the first time ever a complaint has been upheld !!!

It’s taken a long time and it had to be resubmitted a few times but in the end !!

So here’s what it was about .

We raised your concerns with the relevant editorial staff at ‘The World at One’ and they believe that there are clearly links between the English Defence League and extremism. The Government has banned marches and processions by the EDL because the police considered that they would result in serious public disorder. Hundreds of arrests have been made at EDL demonstrations and research by Chatham House found that those who agreed with the EDL held beliefs that were more extreme than most of the population.
That said, given the very brief nature of the reference to the EDL in this introduction, we acknowledge that it would have been better to have described them as a group that protests against ‘radical Islam’ instead.

So will we now see a change in the way the BBC describes the EDL? Not as an extremist far right group, but a group which protests against radical Islam?

    I’m not holding my breath!

‘…they believe that there are clearly links between the English Defence League and extremism.
Well done, and unsure of the full context but…. it will be but a small blip as the machine marches on.
Even if accepted beyond the template ‘we’ll pin it on the bog door’ level, and actually written up in the monthly ECU/Trust summary, few will even know it happened. Even internally.
So it will happen again. And again.
Look what it took you to get this admission that they apparently ediotrialised too selectively.
And there’s what, tangibly, anyone there suffered. These are people who hold truth and accuracy in reporting of all that takes place in their hands.
No reason not to persist of course, as many do, and they need to know they are being watched and held to account. No let up.
But when I see that word ‘belief’ used as some kind of factual excuse, it fair makes me vexed.
‘We’ are required to be factual, and support all claims.
‘They’ can simply wave an airy sense of always being right about.
If that is not unique, and a travesty, I don’t know what is.
