Prophets Of Rage

Sound familiar?  Not a description of a musical version of the EDL but the rap group ‘Public Enemy’:

‘In the late 1980s Public Enemy were the biggest rap group on the planet. Their mission: to raise the consciousness of a generation. With a rebellious attitude to match their militant image they sold millions of records preaching pro-black politics to fans of all races, all done through a groundbreaking wall of noise that changed the sound of hip hop. White, middle Americans were outraged, but their kids loved it.

Not surprisingly, this confrontational approach attracted controversy. Critics claimed the group themselves were racist, exposing racial divides rather than promoting equality. They were banned from some TV and radio stations and when one member reportedly made anti-Semitic remarks in a newspaper interview the resulting media-storm threatened to end their career. Tensions were running high and arguments within the band ended in violence. Could they keep it together long enough to get their message across?’

‘Public Enemy’ are playing at Glastonbury (Note the Black Power salutes) and getting documentaries on the BBC…wonder where the EDL will be in 20 years…will they have raised the consciousness of a generation and kept it together long enough to get their message across?

Funny what catches the imagination of the Tristrams and what doesn’t.  Black identity politics is OK….white or non-Muslim identity politics is taboo.

They are otherwise known as ‘wiggas’, i.e. white and middle-class, but going along with urban black culture on pretence of trying to be cool and with it.
In the UK, we also have ‘Jafaicans’, who take on the manners and customs of Jamaicans even though they have no family or historical connections whatsoever to Jamaica.

Have any of you seen the BBC news pages? Is Glastonbury Festival now a world news event?

UK news page, big picture and several links, the main one being “Mumfords take Glastonbury stage”
“Mumford and Sons close the Glastonbury festival, with their first ever headline set on the Pyramid stage.”

    What the f**k?!!

On their US and Canada page the BBC omits any mention of the electrifying evidence all week in the Zimmerman trial (which was prompted by Obama playing the race card again) – but feels it must mention another trial in the US where some bird chopped a guy’s willy off.

News values ? What news values ?

Their Narrative seems to have been destroyed, so perhaps the BBC decided it’s not important until there’s an eyeball-worthy verdict. Ask Daniel Nasaw.

Take a look at pictures of the Black Panthers, a black revolutionary group started in the 1960s as an armed and violent alternative to the peaceful protest of Dr Martin Luther King.
You will find their uniform dress is absolutely identical to that of Public Enemy as were their clenched fist, black gloved salute. A web search for a list of past Black Panthers membership gives a good indication of the type of people the group attracted.
Basically they were a more obnoxious and far more violent organisation than people like the EDL or the National Front will, or even could, become and did not hesitate to make use of firearms.
In effect the picture of Public Enemy with their Black Panther style uniforms and their Black Power clenched fist salutes is exactly equivalent to a white pop group appearing dresses as Nazi Brown Shirts whilst giving the Fascist salute and singing songs lauding the politics and policies of Adolf Hitler. I wonder if their would be invited to appear at Glastonbury and be lauded and given favourable publicity by the BBC?

Yup and I love being told to “Fight the Power” and so on by a multinational record label who has packaged up and produced a collection of slightly musical dimwits as part of their ongoing campaign to make yet more money.

I’ve just read the lyrics to both of those. The first is a long whine about how this rapper was portrayed by the media. George Zimmerman would sympathise, the BBC wouldn’t. The second is a one of those consciousness raising efforts where I learn

Elvis was a hero to most
But he never meant —- to me you see
Straight up racist that sucker was
          Simple and plain
          Mother—- him and John Wayne

I can’t speak to the truth of any of that, but followers of Louis Farrakhan like Public Enemy had nothing to teach anyone racism. Which brings me to the Beeb’s

when one member reportedly made anti-Semitic remarks in a newspaper interview the resulting media-storm threatened to end their career.

Nice use of the word ‘reportedly’ there, Beeb, seeing that there is no dispute that that the rapper in question came out with gems like

“Jews have a grip on America”

“[The Jews] have a history of killing black men.”

“[The Jews are responsible for] the majority of wickedness that goes on across the globe.”

When the media storm wouldn’t die down, he was fired from the band eventually.

Talking of expensive, overwrought, over-hyped, dumbed down Glastonbury, and Beeboids:-

“Stones? We’d rather watch Die Hard! Viewers shun BBC’s blanket coverage of old rockers.
“BBC spent £2million sending 300 BBC presenters and technicians to Glastonbury.
“There were more than 250 hours of coverage and live online stream.
“2.54 million tuned into see the Rolling stones and 2.78 million watched Die Hard on BBC1.”

Despite their obviously racist outpourings nobody here would have the guts to try and ban them, after all that would lead to screams of “Racism” from the usual suspects, wouldn’t it, and the bBBC would have massive fits of hysteria.

    Ah, Public Enema!
Get outta Compton…get over to Somerset to pose and preen in front of loads of white hippie kids with a guilt complex about Whitey…know what I`m saying, yah?
These Black Pansies wear oversized clocks, and preach rebellion, but clearly have long got outta Compton…and into the Hamptons!
As St Strummer says-they think it`s funny, turning rebellion into money.
    Indeed it is!

      I have now. Sickening.

However, lots of people feel the same way if the comments underneath are anything to go by. Example:

      “WE are CONSTANTLY force fed propaganda by British Press/Sky News/BBC News is Mandela/Steve Lawrence/Obama/Mandela /Steve Lawrence/Obama/Mandela Steve Lawrence/Obama/Mandela /Steve Lawrence/Obama/Mandela Steve Lawrence/Obama/Mandela/Steve Lawrence/Obama/Mandela/Steve Lawrence/Obama/Mandela”

      So true.

During the Public Enemy slot the Director managed to spot the only black fellow in the front row (and possibly the whole of Glastonbury).

It will surprise no-one on here that the Director was so excited about this that the black fellow in the front row got almost as much screen-time as Chuck D.
