An appalling story that highlight the corrupt dynamics within the BBC. So concerned are they to give a false impression of trust and integrity to the public, that when someone within the organisation discovers somebody else was guilty of fraud, they preferred to hush it up, and threatened jail to the person revealing the fraud if he made this news public.
This would also explain why even though BBC staff were aware of Savile’s indiscretions and abuse, that nobody was prepared to speak out about it, and the BBC were content to let it continue rather than draw negative attention towards themselves.
If the government really doesn’t comprehend why this kind of publicly funded organisation has the dynamics it has, and why it will never serve the public properly, and subsequently terminate the licence fee, then it never will.
One can only wonder how many more such scandals lie beneath the surface, that the BBC are hoping will remain that way. How many more have to come to the light before action will be taken?

Good old Ranulph Fiennes stops his trip to the Antarctic due to frostbite. When he was setting off it was to partly to investigate global warming, no mention of that in the latest reports on the BBC its all about his charity work. Why? His hand nearly fell off due to the cold.

I laughed this morning listening to the Today programme. Evan Davis was reading out one of Beppe Grillo’s jokes from the Wikipedia page:

Davis was scandalised by this and clearly thought it was vulgar in the extreme. I on the other hand thought it was very funny indeed and am still chuckling as I recall the moment.
Richard Bacon shows his true Beeboid colours.
It has already been discussed here how Bacon’s interview with ageing rocker Johnny Marr revealed how the former Smiths guitarist’s anti-David Cameron remarks had booking editors across the BBC from QT to Newsnight scrambling to get him on their shows.
The point of note here is the way that Beeboids and Bacon in particular are so desperate to have their hero on side politically. Bacon pushed Marr to agreee with the idea that his music was ‘working class’. Marr – quite sensibly – was a little evasive.
The Smiths were of course the very archetype STUDENT band.
Morissey’s angsty self-obsessed whining and his memorable appearance on TOTP with hearing aide and bunch of flowers down the back of his trousers were hardly the marks of a working class pop movement.
The Smiths never had a single that charter higher than number 10 and would open shows with Sergei Prokofiev’s Montagues and Capulets.

Those of us who live in NorthWest England have become accustomed to the bBBC’s propaganda: there were only 96 Liverpool supporters in Leppings Lane at Hillsborough, minding their own business until Mrs Thatcher ordered the South Yorkshire Police to push them against the fence.
And Thatcher also ordered those Liverpool fans to crush them Italian fans to death at Heysel.

The fact that this event (which never happened) might show that the Liverpool “fans” have previous for crushing people is neither here nor there.

On the Today programme this morning, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of ‘South Park’ cartoons were interviewed by John Humphrys. This was in respect of the stage musical “The Book of Mormon”, which sets out to satirise, criticise, and generally villify the religion in the title. Humphrys did mention that the musical contained episodes featuring props like giant penises, and events of baby rape, amongst other items not considered suitable for broadcasting at that time of day. Nice.
Mr Humphrys pointed out that it was probably picking on an easy target – a western, minority religion with no real likelihood of a severe backlash – as opposed to, say (and he said it, not me) Islam. In response, Parker and Stone tried to say that they had already given the same treatment to Islam. Now, forgive me for forgetting, but I don’t remember a major musical stage show written by these two, travelling the globe and lampooning and satirising Islam, nor the inevitably ensuing death fatwa against these two issued to all of Islam for such blasphemy.
I do recall a couple of mentions in ‘South Park’ with some minor comment on Islam, but also seem to remember that one of the programmes’ references was changed as a result of apparent indignation by Muslims. If that is their sole claim regarding having ‘done the same to Islam as Mormonism’, then it really is a paltry claim.
Apart from the hypocrisy of Parker and Stone, what really galls is that Humphrys, before the interview, must have been able to do his research and press these two ‘luvvies’ further on this issue, to make it clear that there was no real comparison, and they had been totally cowardly in their tiny references to Islam, compared to the gross nature of this musical they are touting around the world.
I’d dare them to show the same ‘fortitude’ in satirising Islam – but there’s no chance of that happening, nor of the BBC publicising it. The BBC continues its policy of not conducting proper research into those things it should, devoting all of its efforts in research to directly or indirectly favour its friends on the ‘left’ of politics.
So basically, it’s Humphrys’ fault that in a 6 minute interview, he concentrated his questions to the creators of a musical were about the work they created? What a cad.
Nope – for the hard of thinking, Scott, the whole point of my post was that Humphrys actually made a very good point, and got swept aside by, basically a lie, which, if he’d done his homework (as he should have done), he could have pursued for more than 3 seconds in a 6-minute interview. He could easily have made the hypocrisy of these two more clear…. but then, that’s what the BBC does with luvvies and lefties – allows itself to be ridden roughshod over, even when there is a very valid point regarding the ‘media’ hypocrisy over its different and diffident treatment of Islam, compared to other religions.

They’ve never given Islam the full treatment like they have Mormons and Scientology, or even Judaism. There has never been a full episode dedicated to it, like they have with the others. Actually, the first time Mohammed appeared in a South Park episode, it was as part of the “Super Best Friends” (a take off on the old Super Friends cartoon from the 70s), a team of religious figures including the Buddha, Jesus, and even Joseph Smith. Great episode making fun of cult behavior and David Blaine, actually. Mohammed was drawn and shown just as normal as everyone else, no pixelating the face, no big deal at all. He was just another member of the group and that was it. There was no outcry at all. Mohammed is also clearly visible in the crowd shot in the opening credits for that season, but nobody seems to have noticed.
Years later, Comedy Central (Viacom) forced them to censor that episode in repeats, and then wouldn’t even let them show Mohammed at all in another episode they made, ‘200’ (a two-parter, with ‘201’). They couldn’t even show Mohammed in a bear suit, fully covered. Now they won’t even show it, period. Again, there was no intent to make fun of the religion at all: they just wanted to stick it to the extremists and show his face, and that was it. Verboten, of course. Not very brave at all, but they did demonstrate the cowardice of the media luvvies who run the industry. At most they were making a stand against what Huw Edwards has referred to as a “less nuanced” reaction from Mohammedans about even the slightest thing.
I give them credit for that, but to claim they’ve given Islam the same treatment they give Mormonism is an absolute lie. Humphrys wasn’t there to do anything other than a softball interview, though, so he left it alone. Asking the question itself was job done. Getting a real answer is beside the point.
The thing is, the Mormon musical, which I have not seen, is – according to actual Mormons I know who have seen it – leaves the audience with the same message as the TV episode on which it’s based: no matter how dopey you think their religion is, they tend to turn out decent, hard-working citizens, the kind we’d all want as our neighbors.
ITV are reporting that there will be another strike ballot at the BBBC:
“Thousands of BBC journalists and technical staff will be balloted for strikes in a row over jobs, workload and stress, the NUJ and Bectu trade unions announced today.”
To be fair, it must be difficult reading the Guardian from front to back ….. every – single – day…….

Just heard the 2nd of Nick Robinsons account of Churchills battle to get from the BBC in the run up to war.
A few things struck me…and wondered if the bean counting tendency here( especially our critics, but you know-Craig used to do it, and the BBC hate “evidence” as we know)
1. Is there any chance of us hearing anything from a historian( one Jean Seaton…Dame by now I`m sure!) who is not the “officially-approved, licensed, employed creature of the BBC that her job title would lead ME to worry about?
2. Guy Burgess rather briefly glossed over, didn`t quite catch how much the BBC used him and his work…didn`t quite catch who he spied for. Did I miss that I ask?…but I think we`ll know what the answer is.
3. No real mention of the German perspective…I guess the Nazis were all Austrians, let`s not mention the unpleasantness, or inded the war.
Any reason why Labour appeasers etc were left out, there were rather alot of them.
Seems though that they were “all in it together”, no scapegoats, names or blame to be attached. We are where we are…familiar?
And did Nick REALLY say it was the appeasers that had a hard time through the 30s in getting their side put across?

BBC News at Ten reporting that a report has uncovered that the Met have been ‘strong-arming’ women into withdrawing rape and sexual assault allegations, the purpose being to ‘improve’ their detection rates.

In this strange ‘analysis’, and what is, in effect ,propaganda for Al Qaeda, INBBC’s DOYLE appears to present Al Qaeda (AQIM version) as ‘moderate’, in contrast to what Doyle (and AQIM) appears to think are ‘Islamist’ hotheads trying to impose Sharia law too quickly!
So confused is Doyle’s message that he fails to designate all the Islamic outfits he mentions as the JIHADISTS they are, and as the enemy to the West (and the Malian people) they are.
Newsnight special on Iraq, had Tony Blair and Charlie Kennedy as well as a gaggle of BBC types a woman from Prospect and one from LSE. Did not see any Tories.
