Jake Wallis Simons is a Telegraph features writer and a novelist. He also broadcasts for BBC Radio 4. His novels include the award-winning The English German Girl (2011), a historical novel about the Kindertransport, and The Pure (2012), a thriller about the Mossad which he wrote under the name Jake Simons.

      http://www.notabaddad.com/2012/07/the-pure/

“The story concerns Uzi, an ex Mossad agent, now resident in London. Uzi’s disaffection with his ex employers has reached such an intensity that he’s struggling to cope, hearing voices, dealing drugs and planning to sell Israeli assassination secrets to WikiLeaks. ”

      no surprises there then…

He’ll need all the powers he can get. According to my favourite alarmist middle-eastern news-sheet,, Debka file, Obama will be deploying US troops to Sinai next week to prevent Iranian and Libyan weapons getting through to Gaza. Far from humiliating the Israelis, Hamas have in fact shot themselves in the foot. It’s always fun to see if their astounding tales turn out to be true.

This was BBC journalist Mario Cacciottolo’s response to Obama’s re-election:

It’s one thing to be a journalist with political sympathies, but the gushing devotion for Obama one sees expressed repeatedly by BBC journalists is on a level of weirdness I simply can’t get my head around. There seems to be a BBC newsroom mindset that fosters a genuine love for Obama, a love normally seen only in cults and totalitarian states.

It’s beginning to freak me out.

Interesting coverage of Pres Obamas trip to Burma and meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi. Apart from the fact that I would not expect a US President to be all over a female political leader like a rash with cuddles and kisses; I noted the BBC who are usually quite rightly keen to broadcast words of peace, advice and wisdom, did not relay his speeches.
Could it possibly be the case that as according to newspaper reports he repeatedly mispronounced her name, and not just her name? Is this a BBC cover up?
It isn’t really a big deal, except that if this had been Bush or any other Republican it would have been broadcast time and again and The News Quiz, HIGNFU and every other so called BBC comedy show would have hung Bush out to dry, deriding his intelligence and fitness to lead the USA.

Jeremy hardy would be going on about it for years, the way he does about Tory politicians who went to prison in the last century

In a festival of bias this morning Today had on the directors of Windnutters Central (Tim Yeo, Ed Davey and a Greenpeace stormtrooper) to applaud the legal theft of, eventually, another £8 billion annually from the taxpayer/energy consumer. Yeo showed his utter contempt for the “little people” by claiming that this shift of wealth to him and his fellow conmen would mean “only about £2 week” on fuel bills. The sole criticism of the deal was from Greenpeace (representing itself and acting as catspaw for the BBC and all points left). The criticism resolved into a whine that the LibDems (in return for promising Osborne a quiet life for the next couple of weeks) had been bought far too cheaply. I don’t think Yeo or Cameron’s father-in-law (or even Dale Vince) would necessarily agree although I’m sure a few more pounds in these parasites’ bank accounts would have been welcome.

The Beeb’s Zubeida ( Urdu diminutive of Zubda, butter, cream. Elite, choicest part, quintessence, essence, prime, flower) Malik did a report from the Parisian banlieues on yesterdays R4 Today programme about a gang-rape epidemic without mentioning Muslim immigrants once, leaving the listener with the impression that male French youth had started acting very oddly. Berelowitz’s report on grooming published the day before yesterday has been criticised for ignoring the role of Muslim Pakistani men:
    http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/uk/crime/article3607803.ece
The mail does an article on large scale grooming, abuse and pimping in Holland that puts Dutch-born Moroccan and Turkish men in the frame as the main culprits.

The Mail says: ” In Holland, as in Britain, the abusers are drawn from a tiny minority of their communities — which are appalled by their crimes. But the lover boys seem to see white girls as worthless, to be abused without a second thought.” If Zubeida Malik is anything to go by, some members of those communities (or co-religionists) are more interested in obfuscating and covering up their crimes – an activity tolerated by the BBC in a publicly financed journalist paid to keep the British people informed.
The Dutch are beginning to ditch political correctness at least to the extent of giving their girls a warning of who to be wary of and the treatment they can expect to get from them. Where the hell is the Beeb?

  12. I missed out on the last open thread. Problems with my broadband connection.
The debate about what this blog was for was interesting. I thought I would put tuppence worth in .
As I see it, on a narrow level, there are 3 major issues today that interest me:
    1. The threat to westerner civilization posed by islamo – fascism.
    – This ties into the faith of Israel, because Israel is the front line in this war. If Israel falls Europe will be next. Therefore the BBC’s media war on Israel is an important topic.
    – It also ties into the BBC’s reporting of the position of Islam in our society.
    2. The debate about AGW. Note – not global warning or climate change but AGW.
    3. The rise of China as a world power.

On a broader level, my interest are in the preservation of western civilization and its judeo – christian values.
Western civilization, for all its faults and failing has 4 outstanding achievements:
    1. Liberal – Democracy
    2. Capitalism
    3. The Scientific Method (basis on empiricism)
    4. The symphonic orchestra

I once put this to an English friend of mine wanted replace the symphonic orchestra with ‘cricket’. I leave you to judge.
This site is important in challenging all that the BBC does to undermine western civilization.

“This site is important in challenging all that the BBC does to undermine western civilization. ” …………….. you really think so? Delusions of grandeur or what!! It is interesting to note that Ibn al-Haytham an Arab scholar who lived during the Islamic golden age is considered by some to be the father of modern scientific methodology.

      • bodo says:

The ‘Delusions of grandeur’ belong to the Islamists who invent ludicrous claims about ‘the islamic golden age’ which too often go unchallenged. Any Arab progress was made largely despite Islam, not because of it. We see modern Islam at its worst in the taliban and in Mali destroying the modern world. Given their way those societies would revert literally to the stone age within a generation.

Well said: Albaman doesn’t seem to realise that isn’t even clear if he was an Arab or Persian, given other Persian polymaths I would suggest he was the latter; being a Persian mathematician, astronomer and philosopher heavily influenced by the Greeks it is probable he saw Islam to be nothing more than the fantasies and ramblings of an insecure-with-violent-tendencies cave-dwelling psycho.

or in the Britanica online Encyclopedia.
You will find that that he is regarded as having “.(Alhazen) made significant improvements in optics, physical science, and the scientific method.” Who has delusions of grandeur”?
If you Google the him you will find two claims to him being the ‘father’ of the scientific method or the “first scientist”.

One is on the BBC News Channel (no suprises there) written by Professor Jim Al-Khalili and a biography by Bradley Steffens. Now I do not dispute that Islamic scholars and scientist made advances in science during a vigorous period of expansion. However, what has to be explained is the stagnation that followed. Why was there a closing of the mind. The Catholic church also attempted to close the development of rational scientific though in Europe. However, it failed and rational scientific thought took deep root, and it became embedded in western culture in a way it never was able to penetrate and infuse Islamic culture.

John Paul Jones, what you write is true BUT you dignify Albaman’s comment with respect it does not deserve. Like bod says above, this progress was made largely despite Islam, not because of it. How many advances over the last 200 years have been called ‘Christian’. This ‘Islamic Golden age’ as if things happened because of Islam is bullshit and needs to be highlighted as such.

AGW, using the Scientific Method (basis on empiricism).

How the debate is progressing in academia/mensa following up on the “Unified Theory of Climate“

With the increase in pressure using the Unified Theory of Climate, you get a calculation that gives a result for the 20th Century Man-made (also including volcanic CO2) warming of about 0.001 Kelvin.

This also follows the finding that Isotope analysis shows that 4 percent of the CO2, or a maximum of 15percent of the increase in CO2 in over 100 years was due to Man made and volcanic CO2 & a minimum 85percent was due to Nature.

Ice core data shows that this natural rather than man-made increase in CO2 was due to the 800 year lag in the changes in deep ocean CO2 levels after the Medieval Warm Period, which peaked about 800 years ago.

Therefore Global Warming was caused by:

Between 1913 and 1996, only one of eight Solar Cycles was longer than the mean Solar Cycle length of 11.04 years, the last of these was the shortest Solar Cycle for more than 200 years, the strength of the Suns magnetic field more than doubled, the cosmic ray flux fell by 11 percent and there was a 8.6 percent reduction in clouds.

When Solar magnetic activity is high, Cosmic Ray levels fall, this causes a decrease in low clouds and the Earths cloud albedo, this in turn causes Global Warming.

The speed of the centre of the Sun relative to the centre of mass or barycentre of the Solar System determines the length of the solar cycle, this in turn is caused by the orbits and masses of the Planets. This determines the average speed of the plasma within the Sun over each magnetic solar cycle.

Simple, but don’t tell the BBC. They read the Guardian and vote Labour, so would not be able to understand. They think a left-wing comedian with a drama degree would be best qualified to speak on behalf of those scientists and the rat-in-a-bucket science not censored by the BBC.

-The purpose of putting up the following piece by BBC insider, and ex-BBC D.G, Greg Dyke is not to agree with his plug for new BBC D.G, Tony Hall, but to try to glean something of the undemocratic process at the centre of the BBC.

And Dyke’s section on Patten is somewhat enlightening:

    [Excerpt]:-

“Even before the board had decided that the job should go to Entwistle, some of the other candidates were openly saying that they wouldn’t get it because Patten was determined to appoint Entwistle. So why was he so smitten with George? The argument goes that he was Patten’s sort of person – male, white, urbane, intellectual and public-school educated.
“But what about his lack of experience? Well, that’s where Patten would come in. He would guide and help his inexperienced protégé. As it turned out, Patten wasn’t exactly standing alongside George on the barricades when it all went wrong. And, as a result, young Entwistle was hung out to dry, his career effectively destroyed.”

Now… this ‘anonymous’ tip-off they needed to ‘investigate’… on the basis of membership of a legitimate party… how does this work? There was surely no legitimacy.

And with style and grace, if a little evident frustration with the totally bent media farce that passes for news in the UK today.
UKIP now gets my full attention at the polling booth.
Try and interpret that event away in the new media era.

Lefties have already picked that “the left wing” BBC have been leading with this story (their sarcastic emphasis) so I feel there’s a lot more to this story as to why the BBC are bigging it up now.

As I write this however, the lefty from the council is on Breakfast defending their decision. She is, of course, getting far more airtime than UKIP got this morning, so perhaps I have just answered my own question why the BBC is running it. They couldn’t hide it but they sure as heck will make sure the left’s view is the most prominent.

but what exactly is a “Flokker”.
Flokkers is a term hereabouts to describe those who hover in a holding pattern above the site to swoop down in oddly alternating ways, usually using strawmen or to cherry pick, and hence acquired the generic descriptive term of ‘cherry vultures’.
Hence.. flock as a collective, which in turn seemed to seamlessly morph into an easier descriptive taken from the Red Baron’s Circus (OK, just him, the rest were Albatrosses)… which given the techniques used was not surprising.
                      Hope that helps.

Not sure the written transcript does justice to the full sensory impact of such utterances.
In addition to tonality (still fondly recall Laura K’s epic tweets as folk walked in out of doors, where any Tory slinked, whilst Miliband always strode across thresholds like an Adonis) there is also the regular servicing of mics for saliva clogging.
ps: Polite reminder to avoid words like ‘never seen’ as the well-resourced BBC archive can easily make sure the relevant shift can score a quick smug counter.

While I accept Dyke’s analysis of how poor and wrong-headed leadership from Patten led to Entwistle’s appointment and subsequent fall, there’s much to mock in what appears to be a combination of apologia and blame-shifting.

During my time at the corporation, we tried to define its basic values and came up with the overriding one that “trust is the foundation of the BBC”.

      That joke writes itself.

He may also have to address a change made nearly two decades ago when the current affairs and news departments were merged. The events of recent weeks suggest it would be sensible to break them up, so that daily shows like Newsnight don’t get involved in long-term, costly investigations. Old current affairs hands such as myself would welcome that – the victory of 24-hour, rolling news over weekly current affairs right across broadcasting hasn’t necessarily been good for thoughtful investigative programming. At times, it has led to the wrong sort of journalists working on the wrong sort of programmes.

The wrong sort of journalists, full stop, are a large part of the problem at the BBC. Management cannot be blamed for everything. To wit:

Another of Hall’s crucial tasks is to sort out the BBC’s complex management structure. The problem is that there are “acting” leaders in virtually all the top jobs – news, radio, television and probably finance, too. A wealth of experience was lost after George Entwistle was appointed – people whom the BBC could have used to steady the ship and plan the future. In fact, some might have helped prevent the mess in the first place.

We’ve heard this excuse a lot recently. Problem is, official managers were in place when Newsnight spiked the Savile story. Can’t blame “acting managers’ for that one, or for any of the BBC’s problems preceding it. The people who Dyke claims might have saved the BBC from current mistakes have been there the whole time while the Corporation sinks to new lows in bias.

I can’t believe Dyke was stupid enough to write the bit about Patten appointing Entwistle because he was hideously white, when that line is of course the first thing everyone is going to throw back in his face regardless of the topic. I hope I never become so arrogant as to be so blind.

INBBC will not face up to the Islamic nature of its beloved ‘Arab Spring’ :

    Barry Rubin-

“Egypt’s Islamist President Assumes Dictatorial Powers”

    [Excerpt]:-

“It seems apparent this means to proceed toward the fundamental transformation of Egypt into an Islamist, Sharia-ruled state. If one views the 2011 revolution as a democratic one, then Mursi is destroying it. But of course he and the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafists see it as an Islamist revolution, parallel to the 1979 Iranian revolution though in Egyptian terms, of course. Lest there be any illusions about what this means, note that Mursi is one man whose legitimacy is not established in practice–despite having won an election–and who cannot depend on the country’s institutions to obey him. The power behind Mursi is not that he is president but that he has the support of the country’s strongest group, the Muslim Brotherhood, and can generally count on the Salafists as well.”

After attempting to endure Kirsty Wark’s harsh tones when presenting I’m now convinced it is so rank it will need double wrapping in polythene when the BBCeventually put it out – in case it harms unwitting local scavengers.

Last night there seemed to be a small effort to shrug off some of the criticism that it is a hopelessly dyed-in-the-wool liberal elite tool.

So we have an ordinary joe – an unfortunate man who lost a relative in the 7/7 London bombings. For some reason that escapes me (in these case we never hear about the compo elephant-in-the-room) he is upset about the appearance of his phone number on some News of the World (?) ‘phone hacking’ list that the cops once flashed him a quick shuftie of.

His beef with Brian Leveson is that he has become focused on celebrity and he fears politicians will use the the opportunity to control the press.

    Interesting points.

We learn Hugh Grant has had a private last word with the PM pre-Leveson publication.

But there is a complete non sequitur in the argument as we return to familiar ground in the BBC studio. Newsnight guests and Kirsty herself simply want to talk about Cameron and Ms Brookes.

Pertinent questions were asked and the drone was pressed to give answers.

Actually, Jim, when Davis raised it Farage sounded like he was about to explode – forget the words he used (‘preposterous’ one of them?) – but managed to steer Davis away. And anyway, why should Farage need an opportunity to put clear blue water between UKIP and the BNP? There is no sense, that I’m aware of, that the UKIP has any whiff of racism about it except in the eyes of the Left who will close down any debate on mass immigration – which brings me back to Davis and the BBC….as I said, they’ve got previous, and loads of it.

This was an opportunity to expose another example of the increasingly fascist thinking amongst some of our public servants who penalise decent, law-abiding citizens simply because they do not conform sufficiently with their PC world view, and it’s a worrying and dangerous trend.

Look guys, you need to get a grip here and realise just how successful has been the role of the MSM over the past decade.
A decade ago Nick Griffin was warning about paedo gangs operating oop north!
Result? the messenger was discredited and shot!
Smears were piled upon fact. They ignored the message, the rest is history.
EDL came next, and Tommy Robinson was banged up conveniently. Again, job partly done. Paxo failed utterly to demolish Tommy on Newsnight. I’d have thought Paxman would have relished a return match, but hell no, no invite back for Tommy!
Now the MSM are convinced they have UKIP on the run. Token Q’s by INBBC today. No venom, no bite, just straw men.
Where will it end?RSPCA (other animal welfare orgs available) takes way my rescue dog because I belong to the conservative party

It’s always struck me as comical how frequently progressive types are willing to describe some members of the indigenous working class as scum, whereas the almost limitless fantasies of indiscriminate violence and appalling acts of sexual abuse engaged in by a minority that shall be nameless is treated with an embarrassed flurry of excuses,
denials of its extent and demonisation of those who point it out. Whatever you may think of the EDL the illegalities that the police indulge in when dealing with them constitute a dark underbelly of ‘enlightened’ society. The current jailing of Tommy Robinson probably comes under this heading.

The idea put about by the last few die-hards in the EDL that he’s some sort of “political prisoner” is embarrassingly pathetic.

Labour get snipes in at Cameron, courtesy of BBC news this morning, accusing him of being ‘weak’ and ‘isolated’ in the EU budget talks. This is, of course, after Miliband, who always has the interests of Britain at heart, had, along with rebel Tory backbenchers, given Cameron a mandate to seek cuts to the budget.

So what would Miliband have done? Our world-leading investigative journalists will be on his case soon, no doubt, to challenge his paradoxical position.

    It’s OK, I’ll wait…..

    1.)
If you do not ‘actively promote multiculturalism’, Ms THACKER, Director for Children and Young People’s Services at Rotherham Council, will BAN you from fostering children.

    ITV News:

“Rotherham Council: UKIP support made couple unsuitable”

    [Excerpt]:-

“Joyce Thacker, the Director for Children and Young People’s Services at Rotherham Council says that UKIP’s commitment to ending multiculturalism made a couple who supported the party unsuitable for fostering children with specific cultural needs.”

    2.)

“‘Sexual predators’: Gang of Asian men weep as they are jailed for total of 32 years for abusing white girls as young as 12 ”

    [Excerpt]:-

“Joyce Thacker, director of Rotherham’s children and young people’s services, said the girls were under child protection plans following family breakdowns or other issues with their behaviour.

“‘When we pieced together a map of what was happening we stepped in very quickly to move these girls to a place of safety outside Rotherham,’ she said.

“‘It started off as a grooming exercise by the men who became friendly with the girls, gave them gifts and introduced them to their friends.

“‘When they got used to being abused it just became a normal way of life for the girls. It is akin to self-harm.”

What the heck is going on up there is South Yorkshire?
Since when did job titles like hers get bestowed on the likes of Thacker?

A shop girl from two generations ago, whose only qualification is the have climbed Blairs lap dancer pole since 1997,…wearing little but their dads colliery flag and a Labour rosette urging Thatcher to drop dead.
Thacker-Thatcher…anybody not now agree that Margaret was right to run scum like Joyce out of anything to do with kids. She failed though in key areas-and Joyce is the product.
Thacker is just a grade down..or is that up?- from Sharon Shoesmith.
We`ve got a terrifying first whiffs of the wars soon to come…and anybody who settles for the likes of Thacker not being sent to prison(let her keep her vote!) for this hate crime of grievous slander and totalitarian evil, will regret soft-pedalling over cases like this one. Her kind are merely softening the ground for the coming offensive.

MacShane?-good Labour!…money was resting in his accounts etc.

Kid battered senseless by two “vulnerable boys” under the care of Doncaster next door?…no case to answer, be inappropriate to comment etc?
Muslim sex gangs for Pakistan?Bangladesh/Yemen/Afghanistan grooming raping white girls under the eyes of social workers in both Rotherham as well as the likes of Sheffield, Barnsley and Donnie?..what of it?…lessons will be learnt, and Labour MBC makes no apology for keeping Muhammad out of it all.

But vote for UKIP…and the witch-hunts and hounds of hell(mainly bitches at that level of malice and incompetence when it comes to “Childrens Services”-Strategic Directors for MBCs especially) get set loose to have you sent to the death camps…not today, not even tomorrow…but they`ll be coming if the likes of Thacker are not spiked and rendered neutral very soon.

It`s a perpetual war this spiritual one…we`ve had a key balloon go up today…and no code breakers required either to understand what labour see is the opposition in need of counselling, re-education or prohibition.

Just read Biblical references to the angels of light and the Man of Peace…Thacker and her like are the first wave…they`ll grow like pondweed if not eradicated from any attachment to public policy whatsoever!
UKIP aren`t up to this by themselves…Labour and the mindsets of Thacker, Harman, Toynbee that run them must be faced down and crushed…quickly.

Is it still true that we English teachers can`t work in Scottish schools, whereas Scots could always work in England-as I recall this was true enough before New Labour.
          Has that changed then?
Maybe she is English-certainly a curious hybrid, but still detected some Scottish influence.

BBC’s platforms are leading on it because they are so political they wouldn’t know how not to, while the Daily Mail can do as it pleases because they are seeking revenue by the choice of the public.
And the crisis management across Labour/Entire racism industry/ Common Purpose/ BBC is going to have to be mobilised to steer this one, as ignoring it simply wouldn’t wash.
And there will need to be more GOATS (echoes of Gordon’s market rate talents) on this altar as well, and Jon Humphrys is doubtless being prepped as we speak to reprise his defenestration of the last DG, long live the new DG.
Genuine question: why, when Dr. Gregory suddenly realised he was down a hole when his ‘points’ proved to be based on less than solid ground, did he too suddenly get all meek and querolous, using the exact same phrase? Is there a guidance manual in the event of emergencies?

Have I Got News For You?
    No.
Rumour has it that Ian Hislop used to be a satirist. Not since he took the shilling from pervie-Aunty BBC he aint. Last night he treated us to the regulation 5 minute hate for the Daily Mail – completely jokeless.
Markus Brigstock was on hand to nod approvingly.
Meanwhile Paul Merton treated us to another large helping to his oldtime vaudeville ‘oh look, here come the Royal family…they’re funny…ha ha ha’
Someone please find Merton’s long lost 91-year-old great uncle and catch him making some vaguely inappropriate remark and then rip the piss out him consistently once a week for the next decade.

New DG. You may find it impossible to axe Newsnight. It would be seen as too much of a loss of face.

But please do us a favour and put HIGNFY out of its own (and our) misery.

Hislop rubbished the Daily Mail report into the insidious Common Purpose organisation and it’s links to Levenson which makes you wonder whether he’s one of them. If you ask me HIGNFY should be taken out into a dark alley and shot.

It has become one of the laziest programmes on TV.
I think it actually IS the product of a ‘programme’ – a computer algorithm designed to churn out predictable, lefty establishment assumptions on the current week’s news agenda. It’s either that or they’re all reanimated corpses, strings attached, operated by some BBC Comedy department throwbacks of the 80s. Paul Merton certainly appears to have had a lifeless stare on the show for at least a decade now. Someone needs to let this one die permanently.

Hislop left his dying wife for a tart then went back until she was dead on the advice of his agent when it came out. “Recovering” alky.

At risk of alerting the daft side, who will gnaw anyway once aroused, I do not believe your final para to be the case on either basis, hence best checked before committing to print and, in conclusion, not always the optimal man over ball line to pursue anyway.
For years I have found him a most entertaining soul in this role, along with Mr. Merton, but they, and the programme itself has long since lost respective ways, and I gave up on it when it and they stopped being funny.
Can’t be sure, but it seemed to coincide with the use of ‘celeb’ politicians as guests or Chairpersons (Only BoJo in exception) who were little short of seat-squirmingly awful (maybe the reason, and set up to mock, which is ironic in some ways).
Like a favourite Aunt who has succumbed to dementia but still gets invited to the party to sit like Father Jack in the wing chair, as her hubby invites the kids to the potting shed to see his petunias as indulgent parents beam on.

      http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9639059/Chris-Grayling-Rochdale-child-grooming-shows-Jimmy-Savile-culture-not-gone-away.html

So I went into this dodgy kebab shop and some elderly blonde bloke with a big cigar leans over the counter and mutters ‘Good evening, kind Sir, and what can I fix for you Sir…Mister hungry customer?’
I notice that his fingers are covered in gold jewellry. ‘ows about that then?’
My attention is drawn to the sudden arrival outside the shop of a beat up car without a tax disc. ‘Want an unlicenced cab, mate?’ An odd looking man is driving the minicab. It turns out he is both the first cousin and the brother-in-law and indeed the uncle of the kebab shop man and he appears to be dressed from head to foot in tin foil.
Oh no, I gasp. That’s the last time I go out late in a Northern town. I might run into that Jimmy Savile culture – about which the Guardian and the BBC have told us so much that they have even got Government ministers believing it.

‘Lord Justice Leveson’s public inquiry into UK press standards is about to report. But the unfolding crisis shaking the BBC will muddy the waters. This is a call for delay.’
Interesting. So the BBC’s neck deep too? However, not so keen on the sudden inclusivity again…
‘[sic] its insidious because the readers and viewers don’t realise it exists’
Uh-huh. Care to tell the guys and gals here?
‘Now take the broadcasters. They think of themselves as bound by statute to be fair and good, on the side of the poor and downtrodden but also, guess what, uniquely in touch with the public!’
Have to like that ‘uniquely’. Deliberate?
‘all the press from broadsheets to tabloids are making a self serving point. And it is totally irrelevant. Two journalistic wrongs do not make a right.’
    Bless. Really?
‘One piece of crap on Newsnight does not vindicate crap in the News of the World on an industrial scale. ‘
Here, let me help you with that:
One piece of unprofessional, distraction based tribal smearing on Newsnight, as part of a corporation-wide industrial scale meltdown across everything from the ME coverage to CAGW cover-ups, does not compare to one bit of crap in the News of the World.
    There, that’s closer to it.
    ‘For this reason I believe’
Well, Lis, ‘belief’ appears to be what’s rather getting quite a few in the media into a bit of a pickle when actual reality intrudes on what they have been pushing from a position of professional competence, integrity and trust.
And this place you work, wasn’t that too ‘in the news’ of late?

Now, I’m not a news desk veteran of the East Cheam Gazette like some, but isn’t there a bit of context missing here?

Mrs jtf puts me on first level disciplinary for not completing my weekly task list on time – forces me to listen to The Now Show.

    Lots of, or some mentions:

    Jesus
    Bishops
    Right-wing
    Tories
    Cameron
    EU as a ‘good thing’

    No mentions:

    Left-wing
    Islam
    Mohammed
    Rotherham
    Obama (as in Burma gaffes)
    Radio Asian Fever
    Grooming
EU as a bloated, unelected, socialist bureaucracy

And apparently in the early days of the EU (guess they meant Common Market) European politicians were sophisticates who went out of their way to learn English (that’s De Gaulle down the Memory Hole, then), whilst British politicians were boorish toffs who refused to learn their languages and just spoke English to them in a loud voice (ignoring the fact French was the official language to start with, now English); we only ever hear bad things about Europe, and that’s also how our children are indoctrinated; Sally Bercow has more followers (59,000 on Twitter) than Jesus had in his day (i.e. just 12 disciples); Twitter enables liberals to fight back against bullying right-wing columnists; they did a brief ribbing of Miliband for siding with right-wing Tories on the EU budget vote; oh, and there was a nice little satire on Jesus being tempted by the devil in the wilderness.

After 15 minutes Mrs jtf coudn’t put up with the screaming, released me from my straitjacket, and switched it off.

Perhaps the second half moved on to right-wing satire.

I think I heard it right but on today’s PM there was a long interview with a Scottish sounding woman about dance and Israel.
Self righteous was not in it. However what was disturbing was the length of the piece and the easy ride she was given and allowed to equate Israel with apartheid South Africa . So lacking in self awareness was she that she seemed to believe that to oppose Israel was a precondition of being regarded as a decent human being. Where does the BBC find these people? It is this steady drip of poison that is so invidious to the future of Israel and by extension ro the wholle ME.
