OLIVER’S ARMY

TV chef Jamie Oliver

Those swines in the Coalition. How DARE they support  Academies that better meet the needs of local parents and pupils without the dead hand of Government telling them what to do, how to do it, when to do it by and how often to do it! I mean if people get the idea that Education can prosper without the State, where might it all end? Health…god forbid even Broadcasting? So, thank goodness the BBC have picked up on Jamie Oliver’s allegation that Academy schools are endangering the health of pupils by not providing appropriate State designated nutritional needs.  How unlike the veritable gourmet nirvana that is the State system…

PS Couldn’t resist the BBC image used to accompany the story. Suggestions for a caption?

Bring back the belt, bring back the learning of hard arithmetic by rote, grammar and punctuation by the end of primary school, get rid of all this child centered claptrap and the ‘inclusion for all lefty’ nonsense that is eating away at our school system like a vile cancer. Too many trendy wishy washy women saturating education and it’s showing in our superficial celeb-obsessed culture! AND get rid of all of these f$$king middle class cookery programs that encapsulate perfectly the insufferable middle class metro-trendy consumerist narcissists who put their brain-dead indulgence in self-congratulatory dinner parties on a Saturday night before self-discipline, their country and belief in God.

    I’m going to disagree again.
I like Jamie Oliver. Diet is important, yet headmasters often give healthy eating low priority.

Bring back the belt? Bring back learning arithmetic by rote?
Why not implement full-on Sharia while we’re at it?

And I like Camilla Batmanghelidjh. Her charity is imaginative and effective. I know no-one has mentioned her yet, but it’s a pre-emptive strike.

You obviously have little idea about what’s happening in our schools and the abuse teachers get on a daily basis from unruly children who are the product of a weak left wing education system. Anyway, how on earth can you take anyone with ‘Batman’ in their name and who wheres a bowl of fruit on their head seriously?

You obviously have little idea of human nature. The problem of abuse that teachers get can’t be solved by counter-abuse.
I take Camilla Batmanghelidjh extremely seriously. For all you know I also wear a bowl of fruit on my head.

I was educated 50 years ago “through my backside” and it really does work. It was a case of here is your homework, tables and spellings; know it by tomorrow and know what to expect if you don’t.

Got a few hidings. Pain is transient but knowledge is forever because after 50 years I can still recite my tables 2 to 12 times and mixed anytime.

We all knew who was the boss and never held it against them. We loved and respected them dearly as they did us.

There’s a line from Dr. Phil where he says “Over-indulgence is the most insidious form of child abuse known to man”.
          I agree with that.

Fair discipline is a necessity in our society, but it has been eroded by the left-wing ‘do-gooders’ to make themselves feel like mankind’s saviour.

If I could I’d underline the word FAIR.

Agreed. The over-indulgence (amongst other lefty liberal rot) is at the heart of where the UK has gone so wrong. Even if it were possible it would take at least a generation to correct….which I guess was the plan, get it beyond the point of no return.

@Sue. I agree with you about CB. She’s a very smart woman who’s helped thousands of children escape the most awful deprivation and abuse. Once in safe place, she helps them feel loved and worthwhile to the point where they can resume their once fractured lives. To make silly comments about her name and to criticise the way she dresses is pretty lame.

The belt worked, rote worked (seen anyone under a certain age trying to do any sort of mathematics?). Sharia might work but nobody has suggested it here.

I would have more time for Oliver if he weren’t such an annoying twat (see the South Park video above posted by DB) and all this came about because of a report that SOME schools MAY reintroduce vending machines….well that was certainly the case when this whole story was reported back in November

      quote
“I know that there are no general rules of health because there was a gentleman living in New York a few years ago who was one hundred and fifteen. He was the oldest man living in New York, and he was doing quite well. He lived on his own, got around with no trouble, and could deal with everything that came his way. People asked him, of course, ‘What’s your diet? What’re you eating?’ He said that from the ages of ninety to one hundred and fifteen, his diet consisted mostly of three gallons of Thunderbird wine a week, and bread fried in fatback. When they asked him why he didn’t fry his bread in bacon, he said that bacon was TOO LEAN. Here’s a man who knew exactly what his body needed, and he lived a rich, full life on what one would think is fucking rocket fuel. And if he’d gone to a doctor, the doctor would’ve been, ‘What the fuck is the matter with you?! You’re out of control, Goddammit! You know what? You’re gonna have to start eating vegetables.’ And he would’ve, and he’d have been dead in a week!”

      amen to that 🙂

Jamie Oliver is an attention seeker and hopefully he will be ignored by Mr Gove. The worst thing he could do would be to invite Oliver for a meeting since that would give him the attention he desires and make things far worse. A more interesting response would be to ask Oliver to get involved in the running of a local academy or Free School to try his ideas out but without taking any cameras and making a TV series about it.

Oliver appears to have come a cropper in his attempt to break into the American TV market probably because they aren’t so keen on his nannying so is now having to revive his British TV career hence this little outburst.

Jamie is a decent cove, but his 17 restaurant telly series, as well as his school idea with Starkey teaching history etc; only shows that he is educational melamine…utterly poisonous to the body.
Way out of his depth here-but that`s what makes him so appealing to the BBC and the Guardian.
They probably still think that he meets his mates at Sainsburys, as opposed to pay them to call back to his “pad to chill”.
When once he had educational people of integrity behind the scenes…we now get the likes of Oliver and Puttnam trying to muscle in on schools…as if either of these media junkies would know the first thing about them…private schools and all.
Why not get back up to Rotherham or wherever Jamie?…perhaps they`ll listen now!

Sorry Sue but you are on a looser here. Discipline is NOT counter abuse! It was a mistake to stop corporal punishment simply because no other form of discipline was introduced to replace it!
