COUNTDOWN!

“Sunday Morning Live” have been in touch and I will now be solely partaking in the debate on Israel. More precisely the question is; “Should Britain support a Palestinian State?” On the panel with me are; George Galloway and Milo Yiannpoulos and yours truly. It kicks off at 10am – I’m the blue corner. I think Galloway is being sponsored by Whiskas?

    Unfinished question as always:

As well as a Palestinian state, should Britain also support the continued existence of the state of Israel?

Should Britain support the daily firing of rockets from the new Palestine state into sovereign Israeli territory?

    Come on Galloway, speak up!

I’d suggest you ask exactly which “Palestine” is being discussed – the one in “the West Bank” of the “moderate” Mahmud Abbas and Fatah, or the one in Gaza run by the internationally recognised terror group Hamas. They supposedly came to an agreement but they haven’t even agreed on the time of day. Gaza and the West Bank are in two separate time zones.

You may also like to point out that both Abbas and Haniyeh have over run their time in office. Elections were due for new legislations some years ago, so basically neither of them are legitimate representatives of the “Palestinian” people.

You should also ask when the BBC and Galloway will stop accusing Israel of being the one standing in the way of peace. Yet again Abbas has refused to enter into negotiations unless Israel agrees to everything he wants from the start.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-15048783

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has reacted coolly to a blueprint for talks put forward by international mediators.

Mr Abbas said he was studying the so-called Middle East Quartet’s idea for peace talks to open within a month, but ruled out any plan that did not demand an end to Israeli settlement building.

He was speaking to reporters while flying back from the UN in New York.

    […]

Commenting on the possibility of fresh talks, Mr Abbas said on Saturday: “We will not deal with any initiative which does not contain a halt to settlement or the ’67 borders.”

On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the General Assembly that the core of the conflict was not settlements but the refusal of the Palestinians to recognise Israel as a Jewish state.

never mind the H Charter, check out Fatahs Hymnsheet
      two sides same coin.

Mahmoud Abbas wrote a dissertation denying the Holocaust,
organised the finances of the Munich Olympics terrorists who killed 11 Israeli athletes and was Yasser Arafat’s right hand man.
I guess one could claim he is reformed, except that he regularly honours Palestinian terrorists as “martyrs,” and names squares and sports stadiums after them, proving his enthusiastic support for the slaughter of Israeli men, women and children.

      ie NOT mederate.

  3. John Anderson says:

The UK continues to support the idea of a Palestinian state living in peace – and ACCEPTING THE EXISTENCE  – of Israel.  This can only be achieved through direct negotiations.  The pantomime at the UN is just what Galloway will love.  A load of bluster,  avoiding the real need for negotiations.  Just like the “peace convoys” Galloway joins.

I doubt if Galloway would give a damn if Israel was destroyed.  He speaks for the fascist streak in Arab politics,  he’s a rabble-rouser.

I hope you can insert the idea of long-run BBC bias – why not state that this blogsite gives many many examples of BBC mis-reporting about Israel,  and failure to report how Paslestinians are taught from childhood to despise the Jews.

Well definitely not, unless it renounces the ideology driven hatred, violence.
accept Israel.?…Israel ain t going nowhere, it is legitimate…so wake up & smell the coffee, or ……the UK should not support them.
It IS a terrorstinian situation, without comprehensive reform, we should not support them.
These are not the conditions for Israel, they are for the “Pally” arabs it is in their hands to change, their arguments are weak, hence all of the underhand
shenanigans at the UN…they couldn t fulfil a quarter of the criteria even for the EU never mind a more volatile area.
It is they who better change.

I see the BBC are spinning for Red Ed again. TWO opinion polls say he’s either weird or useless, this goes unreported by the BBC, yet Sky report it, anyone want to bet if there are a couple of bad polls next week for Cameron the BBC won’t be ignoring them?

Then we get Red Ed spouting on about tuition fees. He say’s he’ll cut them to £6000, so what that means is if he’d been in power he’d have put them up right? Hmm, don’t remember his admitting that, oh and he’s not prepared to make it a manifesto pledge, this is not reported by the BBC.

  6. deegee says:

Perhaps the real question given that Britain already supports a Palesatinian State is what kind of Palestinian State. Abbas’s state would require ethnic cleansing; would not not be a solution to the refugee problem; would not mean the end of hostilities; would in all probability become a base for Islamic terrorism; would continue violent discrimination against women, homosexuals and Christians and would in all probability be a threat to both Israel and Jordan.

To support the Palestinian state that would arise unconditionally is like saying we support the state of Iraq and it doesn’t matter what Saddam Hussein is (was) doing or Iran and it doesn’t matter what the Ayatollahs do. This BTW is George Galloways position.

BTW why Milo Yiannpoulos? He is a fan of George Galloway as per his blog, MilosYiannpoulos:
Watch me debate George Galloway, the cheeky chappy who brought anti-zionism to the end of the-pier (Could someone translate this? What does this headline mean?)

I’m looking forward to discussing the intricacies of Middle Eastern politics with the most accomplished cat impersonator in British public life, Celebrity Big Brother star George Galloway.

Despite his often terrifying rhetoric, Gorgeous George has always struck me as a loveable old slap-head. And, perhaps uniquely among Left-wing agitators, he could probably survive Saturday night at the Glasgow Empire (provided it was packed with members of Hamas, that is, which is admittedly unlikely).

    Sir, I salute your indefatigability!

According to his own blurb: I’m a journalist and broadcaster living in London and San Francisco who writes about technology, media, business, society, religion and celebrity culture. In my spare time I like Zinger Tower Burgers, Mariah Carey and guns. This is a place for more personal writing and for things that my editors don’t want to go anywhere near.

I can understand David Vance, being there and George Galloway but why Milo Yiannpoulos? I’ll try and tweet him for an answer.

Guest selection is a magic art, often designed more for ‘colour’ and heat than the shedding of any light.

So while relevance can seem to be met, you can also be sure there’s a wee bit more at play.

Just watched the SKY ‘paper reviw’ with the American peroxide sink and that black ‘community relations expert’ from Tottenham.

Whist appreciating there are concerning aspects of the police demands for riot footage from broadcasters, the logic of this chancer guest reviewer that not handing it over would now make any ‘reporter’ safer in the future seems flawed.

In the heat of the moment, a thug is unlikely to make a distinction between being exposed for media ratings vs. to be held account legally.

Silly to try, and be allowed to make that punt on that basis.

Ever since 1988 when the PLO recognised the State of Israel it has proven a lie and it has proven a lie ever since.

The Jews are the world’s perennial scapegoat and they’ll always be the perennial scapgegoats of the Arabs and dictator lovers like Galloway.

If the Israelis hadn’t built their defence wall the Arabs would still be strapping explosives to their children to kill them today and people like Galloway condemn Israel for stopping it happening.

All the best for tomorrow David.  I’ll say one for you.

  10. hippiepooter says:

Oh, and if Galloway brings up the BBC canard of casualty figures, you can tell them its not how many who have died that matters it’s how they died.  The Israelis have never targetted children and civlians, the Arabs always have.

Israel has always sought to minimise Arab civilian casualities, Hamas and Fatah have always sought to maximise them.

But ask him to tell how the majority of “Palestinians” were killed, or rather by whom.  I strongly suspect that more have been killed by Hamas terrorist action than by Israeli retaliation.

I don’t know who this Milo Yiannpoulos is, but you can bet your house on the fact that he will be anti-Israel.  There’s no way the BBC would have a debate not loaded towards their prejudices.

It has been worked out that as a direct result of the Arab Israeli conflict since Israel’s establishment (approx 63 years) about 100,000 have died. In the same period approximately 5 million Muslims have died, mostly killed by other Muslims.

Those are the casualty figures David Vance should bring up should Galloway or the BBC bring up Gaza’s casualty figures.

BTW Can anyone think of another war and recite exact casualty figures?

Points to keep in mind and use where pertinent.

    1. Does Galloway accept the holocaust happened?
If not he shows himself a denier, which I would imagine he’s not anxious to do whatever his thoughts on the subject.
    If yes – then

    2. Does he believe that following pogroms and the holocaust, the Jews are entitled to a land of their own free from the political machinations that led to both?

    3. Since the anti-Israel voices always use settlement building as being the obstacle to peace, can he state any offer the Palestinians have made to achieve a peaceful resolution that didn’t ultimately have the purpose of eliminating the Jewish state – the very purpose for Israel?
Like for example the demand to return the refugees still held in camps throughout the Arab world to Israel, thereby making Jews the minority and unable to function as a democracy.

    4. Which other country in history, following attempts by other countries to destroy it, has ever been put in a situation where land gained in a defensive war have been put in a situation where they are forced to return it, or even expected that they would?

Much less countries like Britain, France, Spain, US, etc who unlike Israel, have been the aggressors in taking over countries and never been subject to those demands. Otherwise does he think that Australia should be first returned to the Aborigines, New Zealand to the Maoris, and the USA to the Indians, for starters?

    5. With that in mind, is Israel the first country ever to return land won in a defensive war to those who began that war in exchange for real peace?

Since it is – how can settlements really be the issue, much less the fault of Israel for not achieving peace?

Or, for that matter, should parts of Poland and the former Czechoslovakia be returned to Germany, as Helmut Kohl was initially demanding when the wall came down?  I think he was reminded of the consequences of waging an aggressive war.  Someone should remind the Palestinians as well.

Here are some questions for you about that ‘Palestinian land’…

Some questions to ask Goebbelsway when he claims that Israel stole the land from Palestine:

    1) Who was the leader of the Palestinians before Arafat?
    2) What was the currency of Palestine before the Jews stole it?
    3) Jerusalem was the capital of which Palestinian empire?
    4) Which Palestinian kings are buried in Jerusalem?
    5) What are some of the technological advances that the world owes the Palestinians?
    6) What are some of the cultural gifts of Palestine?
In your own time, of course…….

Not my own questions, alas, but I think they are very appropriate.

don’t forget to drop this quote in-

March 31, 1977, the Dutch newspaper Trouw published an interview with Palestine Liberation Organization executive committee member Zahir Muhsein. Here’s what he said:

The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism.

For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan.

Galloway will never be ignored by the BBC,  they love him even though sensible people see him as a dangerous clown representing extreme-minority views.

There are a bunch of people with whom the BBC should never pollute the airwaves,  who should never be shown attention and respect by the BBC,  because they are fundamentally evil.   Galloway is certainly one,  old swivel-eyes on Dateline is another.

If the BBC deliberately treats some people as pariahs eg Geert Wilders,  BNP people etc – they should apply the same treatment to obvious contra-extremists such as Galloway and the swivel-eyed Arab on Dateline.

    Well done David.
Within the limitations of the programme David did extremely well. As a regular viewer he knew what to expect. In comparison to some of the other episodes I’ve watched, I felt this one was a little more balanced than usual. The Skype elements rarely work, and this time they added nothing but confusion to the mix. Getting that ‘self-hating’ Israeli professor on was also typical BBC, but at least it demolished GG’s complaint that the contributors were weighted against him.
I will say that I thought David’s broadcasting experience stood him in good stead and he appeared relaxed and articulate, but unfortunately Susannah let the man in the striped suit have the last word.

    • Craig says:

Yes, well done David. You did yourself proud.

You got across the point about Abbas refusing to recognise the Jewish State of Israel, which Galloway then twisted by pretending you had not said ‘Jewish State of Israel’ only ‘State of Israel’. thus creating a straw man he could huff about. You got across both the ‘Judenfrei’ point and the Gaza example of Palestinian misrule. Your dissenting point about the Arab Spring is something few BBC viewers will ever have heard put so sharply (if they’ve ever heard it put at all).

All this despite the programme’s usual severe time limitations & the presence of a formidable piece of work like Galloway.

As Sue says, the segment seemed pretty balanced – two against one in the studio, two against one (the other way round) via Skype.

I think there have been a couple cases in the past, actually.  But there are definitely several cases of men on death row being found innocent after years of third-party investigation and set free before getting the chop.  That’s why Illinois suspended the death penalty until further notice, and why lots of states have dropped it entirely.

Which is why I keep saying that a minimum body count will eliminate that argument entirely.  I suppose there’s also a way to limit it to incontrovertible video evidence or something in the case of single murders, but that’s a much bigger legal hurdle.

Yeah, having watched the programme today I felt the intro carried loaded spin.  It’s always brought up by the BBC as a discussion point innocent people being wrongly convicted but it’s never brought up murderers being freed to kill again.

It’s a tribute to the US Justice system that inmates have such a thorough appeals process that in light of new evidence convictions are overturned; its a system with tremendous safeguards and vindicates the justice of the death sentence for vermin like Troy Davis.

Can’t the world’s greatest broadcaster do better?

I did note though that-yet again-the person most in line with Beeb editorial policy got the better studio link.
Still-Susanna Reid was not the worst Beeb interviewer by a long chalk, and to have two “right of Beeb” contributors as opposed to the token “nutjob” up against the BBCs favoured leftie consensus was a surprise.
Galloway was right about that if nothing else…he surely must have expected a few keffiyah wearing lefties round him as a doughnut.
Am guseeing that Galloway is so loathed by most of the left(Oona King)  that no-one would want to share his cat litter!

It’s just Skype, not much they can do if the end user has a crap microphone or connection.  I did notice that the Palestinian guy had a much better quality than the Jewish settler.  Stooopid rich world-dominating Jooos can’t even do technology as well as the oppressed Palestinians.

The speech was never going to change any opinions at the UN. The members at the UN vote as their political masters tell them from their respective capitals.

The speech was really addressed to the people of the USA. In this he succeeded.

    He is a good speaker.

As for Abbas and the rest of the Arabs, when they speak of Palestine, they actually mean thw whole of present say Israel.

Bio, check out hippiepooter’s link on page 2 to that ‘Expat’ site. Free, but with ads, and you can get a whole range of UK TV channels. I’m going to try it tomorrow.

Oh, hell. A guy on another site, British, living in Sweden, pays 5 pounds a year for a site that does the same trick. (Not sure if it’s limited to Windows, though.) If you like I’ll try to track down that info.

Been a good week for Israel then!
Obama had to come off the fence for a few minutes…Abbas looks a prawn and Ahmadinejadh behaves ina way at the UN that will be back to haunt him…and Netenyahus wonderful speech next day.
Galloway pasted and pelted…he`ll be pet food at this rate…and Mr Vance in the bowels of the Great Whale of Satan…and safely back on shore after disgorgement!
Yes…Israel will be OK. Israel actually stands for something and won`t roll over in a cultural cringe like the self-loathing and flaccid EU. It`s best politicians have actually DONE some community service without being convicted firstly(unlike here), and God beams upon them!
Maybe the more we see Bowen and Fisk…the more desperate the Islamic Rearguard becomes…if Galloway is your star attraction?…then: not too much to fear in the long run!

David, I have just watched your segment of the programme. I think you did well, but I was watching in that frame of mind. I actually didn’t like watching it because I wanted to physically abuse Mr Galloway and that level of anger is very unpleasant to me. And it’s the main reason that I can’t normally bring myself to watch bbc news and current affairs programmes. Thank goodness people on this website are able to overcome the revulsion and report on them.
I just wonder what the main viewing public thought about the mini-discussion on the socalled palestinians. I suspect that because Galloway is good on tv, they would more than likely side with him; the emails/texts that were shown on the screen would appear to support that conclusion. I just feel that most people have an emotional attachment to what is being portrayed as the palestinian cause. These poor people seems to pervade every thought, word and image. But there is never the link that it is precisely these same people who were hijacking aeroplanes in the ’70s and killing passengers in them, in airports and in other places. What about the Munich Olympics – it wasn’t the Israelis who were killing muslims, it was palestinians who were killing Jews. Until there are more programmes on tv, that the majority are likely to watch, where the crimes of the muslims are repeatedly spelled out, until it begins to sink into the collective mindset of our country, then I’m afraid, David, you and people like you and me, will be lone voices crying in the wilderness.

    Thanks, Bio.

Dunno how or why but that Youtube link is now trouble-free. Good for you David Vance. I note that Galloway started early on denigrating you guys by making the typical Arab claim that practically the whole world is for the Palestinian bid and you guys were somehow an aberration.

I was glad tosee you got the “far left” statement in at the end.

I think Susannah Reid is probably more in favour of Israel than the Palestinians, incredibly, and that upset Galloway tremendously, of course.
