Spy-for-Israel?

Oooh look! Israel’s up to no good again! It’s been trying to buy
secrets from an American government scientist!
Mossad’s been trying to make him spy for Israel!

Stewart Nozette admits spy-for-Israel charge
See? See?

Oh, wait. It was just a scam. Nowt to do with Israel after all. Just some honey-trap thingy dreamed up by the FBI. Forget I ever said anything. As you were. Just the BBC screaming more stuff about Israel. Well, they’ve got to grab your attention somehow, now, haven’t they?

To be fair there is a slight difference between selling secrets to a friendly allied government as opposed to an enemy (like say China) so who Nozette thought he was selling too does matter – however the fact that he was in fact in contact with an FBI sting team NOT agents of Israel is definitely worthy of clarification!

The damage is done which was always the BBC’s intention. Anything to denigrate Israel.

Sadly it`s par for the BBC these days.
If it wasn`t Israel…well it wouldn`t be anyone else I grant you.
It would not have made the news unless it has that smear on Israel gratuitously lobbed in.
Woner if the BBC will have a last season in the sun where they told the truth and showed some competence in checking a story or two?
    No harm in asking anyway…

Slightly off topic, but I quite often watch the Keiser report on Russia Today. I find it illuminating wrt financial/economics matters; certainly more informative than any UK broadcast. However, I get the feeling that Max has a problem with Israel. Has anyone else noted this and if so do you have an explanation? I know the bbc’s attitude  but Max Keiser’s is a puzzle to me.

INBBC supports Hamas, and opposes Israel; Islamic Republic of Iran supports Hamas, and opposes Israel; does INBBC quietly support Iran?

Under the surface, it is good (except for INBBC) to note this (2010):

It’s okay to accuse Jews of dual loyalty, but it is never acceptable to suggest the same for Muslims.  Right, BBC?

I’ve just finished, and enjoyed  reading Daniel Silva’s latest novel, ‘Portrait of a Spy’.

The author seems to be censored by INBBC because the hero of Silva’s series of books is a Mossad spy; so Silva doesn’t get anti-Israel playwright David Hare’s special treatment at INBBC.

Just some more Erdogan. Breaking news. Quite absurd really.

I’m sure Sue will already know about this.

“Turkish warships will escort any Turkish aid vessels to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said in remarks broadcast on Al Jazeera television on Thursday.
Erdogan also said that Turkey had taken steps to stop Israel from unilaterally exploiting natural resources from the eastern Mediterranean, according to Al Jazeera’s Arabic translation of excerpts of the interview, which was conducted in Turkish.
Last Saturday, Turkish officials told Hurriyet Daily News that the Turkish navy will significantly strengthen its presence in the easter Mediterranean Sea, as one of the steps the Turkish government has decided to take following the release of the UN Palmer report on the 2010 Gaza flotilla.
“The eastern Mediterranean will no longer be a place where Israeli naval forces can freely exercise their bullying practices against civilian vessels,” a Turkish official was quoted as saying.
As part of the plan, the Turkish navy will increase its patrols in the eastern Mediterranean and pursue “a more aggressive strategy”.

Yes, Tayyip Erdogan’s ludicrous posturing brings back the infamous Channel 4 interview with Mark Regev and Jon Snow around the time of the Mavi Marmara. It makes you shudder.

What struck me was the BBC’s report here. In particular Jonathan Head’s analysis. All of a sudden, instead of the Palmer report primarily condemning Israel as the original BBC reports would have us believe, he’s admitting that the report more or less vindicated Israel.

“The Turkish government feels it was the loser in the UN report. It stated many times that Israel acted illegally in boarding the flotilla in international waters.

The UN report found otherwise. And while it criticised as excessive the use of force by Israeli troops, it did not give the ringing condemnation of the killing of nine Turkish activists that the government had hoped for. Turkey’s responses since then have in part been driven by wounded national pride.”

I think I see Turkey’s ploy here – the more they attack Israel, the more they will be welcomed into the anti-Israel EU.

Just a brief mention in that piece about the Cyprus “conflict”.

No information at all about Turkey’s invasion of Northern Cyprus, its ethnic cleansing (no scare quotes) of that area and the UN monitored Green Line separating the Turkish north from the Greek south. A totally illegal occupation (again, no scare quotes) if ever there was one.

If Turkey does try to impede Greece and Israel from exploiting those undersea deposits the question of Turkey’s occupation of the north of Cyprus is something will have to be dealt with.

Sue, this one has me seething. A lot of people who just read the headline or stop reading after the first five paragraphs will be thinking, oh those subversive Israelis again. I’ve taken screenshots of the entire article and will be sending them tomorrow backed with unsubtle language to Nathalie Malinarich, thus:

    [email protected]

Since she has the lofty title of World Editor of the BBC News Website she has to be near the top of the whole rotten heap and should be able to kick some butt.

Here’s the problem… you read the story and it’s told quite correctly and there’s no bias.
You get beyond the headline and over the first paragraph and the real story starts to unravel, this is deliberate story beat reveal with a twist. If you read the headline Israel is a villain. If you read paragraph 1, Israel is the villain..,
you read beyond it and Derren Brown’s NLP still tells you Israel is villainous…
i now know what happened to TASS and PRAVDA.. they joined forces with islam news and took over the BBC

Melanie Phillips has returned from her summer hols. She writes about the govt’s Israel derangement syndrome. One thing she said particularly interested me:

“So much so that a group of Tory MPs and others in the party who are well-disposed to Israel have reportedly formed an informal group to prevent David Cameron from throwing Israel under the bus altogether.”

Does anybody know who belongs to this group?
