So They Do Have Some Standards

You can call the Tories whatever you want on Radio 4, but just be careful what you say if you’re writing the live cricket updates for BBC Sport:

England fans will be pleased to know that nighT WATchman Jimmy Anderson survived until the end of play. Good job they’re not playing the test match at Scunthorpe.

But it’s OK to use the c word on the bbc. The today prog. presenters think it’s a hoot to use it.

I find the way the BBC mischievously plays with the word “Tory” irritating.

Does this happen when Scunthorpe are playing ?

Apologies if I stole your joke – I had the impression I had made it upindependently but now on a reread I see you said the same thing so maybe it was subliminal.

If you want a good laugh try watching BBC programmes with the sub-titles on.  It’s not only very revealing of the sort of person they use to type them out but shows what a bunch of incompetants the BBC truly are.  Even programmes that have beem made months before have sub-titles riddled with spelling mishtakes.

It isn’t an easy thing to do and it certainly is a skill to type accurately and quickly,  but honestly, you’d think the’d have more pride in their work.

I agree-many a comedy moment with some great subliminal moments.
Will have to write a few down in that they often say much about what the BBC would LIKE to think was said!
Might try it with Question Time first.

Strangely, there was another one today on TMS from Sam Sheringham, ”  ****y “.  Call me naive , but I couldn’t work it out. When I came back to the discussion, the whole post had been removed !
