OBAMA TRIUMPHS…

Now that the..ahem… “world’s highest moral authority” the UN has finally gotten around to authorising “all necessary measures” – short of soldiers going in – the BBC has instantly responded in tried and tested manner. Mark Mardell was on Today just after 7am telling us that thanks to Obama’s decision not to show leadership, this has enabled the UN to show leadership. However whilst the BBC pays tribute to Obama the do-nothing, it is quick to posit all kinds of troubles for David Cameron. Noticed thee BBC suggested that this is a 50/50 Coalition Government we had. Really – I seem to recall the Lib-Dem’s getting a fraction of the Conservative vote?

While BBC-Democrat seems to welcome an Obama NFZ, it shuns a Cameron NFZ.

Now that Obama has been shown to lack leadership and to have gone back on his word re G Bay etc. the thought strikes me – what action could Obama do that would not garner support from the BBC? Is there anything at all? Apart from supporting Israel, obviously…

Mardell’s blog is saying it is all down to Obama too, who “held back on purpose”. Just posted it on the new open thread

The linked Today segment features not Marell but his predecessor as BBC North America editor, Justin Webb.  Ol’ Justin was promoted to the Today chair for his stellar work as an Obamessiah worshipper and for calling me a racist during the 2008 election.

He’s just as opposed to military intervention as Mardell, of course.  Webb is so blinded by ideology that he even suggested that Britain hasn’t the military capability to do this and had to be reminded by his guest that there’s a coalition of forces invovled and it’s actually possible to refuel planes in mid-flight.

No matter what, the BBC will find a way to run down anything Cameron’s involved in, for better or worse.

In the time honoured what would I do if I was in the same position scenario I also would have done nothing without the UN. It’s not at all clear to me that interfering in Libya is in America’s vital interest. If Gaddafi survives, as is not unlikely, why should America have to make the decision by itself to make this a war or admit defeat?

That would be a pragmatic position. Unfortunately Obama feels the need to be all things to all men and can’t just come out and say this. So he gets no credit for essentially doing the right thing from anyone but the BBC.

deegee, contrary to Mardell’s ridiculous statements, it’s not about how the President should have made the US go ahead on our own, guns blazing, but that He should have been leading the discussion in the UN, leading the discussion with the Arab League, leading the discussion all over the place. Even if He has a different idea of how to proceed, He should have been out front leading the conversation.  That’s what a world leader is supposed to do.

Unless, of course, one is either incapable, uninterested, or simply doesn’t want one’s country to maintain a position of strength and respect.  Take your pick.  I know Mardell says it’s misguided and extremist to want one’s country to have a strong international position, but I’m dealing with reality here and not ideological fanstasy.

God Justin Webb is really pathetic.  One could tell Webb is delusional when he said to Nick Robinson on Today that the problem with military intervention of this sort (UN enforcing a no-fly zone in Libya) is that the goals are never made clear.

What a complete lie. I say it’s a lie because I don’t believe that the Today producers or ol’ Justin himself are simply unaware of what has been discussed at the UN and on every single news broadcast around the world (in between reports on Japan, I mean) for the last three weeks.  They know what’s going on but have chosen to lie for ideological purposes.

    Robinson had to correct him.

Nick Robinson then told him that the no-fly zone is meant to prevent Ghaddafi from butchering thousands of people, and ol’ Justin was shocked.  He seriously thought – just like Mark Mardell – that the no-fly zone in Iraq was supposed to oust Sadaam, not just keep him in check.  In Libya’s case, everyone knows the idea is to put enough pressure on Ghaddafi so his regime collapses from within.  This isn’t news or only one perspective on the military goals.  They really are misguided, yet the BBC demands that you trust them without question.

I suppose now Robinson is open to charges of being biased in favor of the Tories simply because he’s aware of reality, yet ol’ Justin won’t be open to charges of bias the opposite way

So there’s cheering in the streets of Libya because we’re going to send in the troops.  It’s only what I’ve been saying they wanted for three weeks.  What makes me most angry is that Mardell has said that the President feels an emotional connection with their desire for freedom, yet nasty old Conservatives (His enemies) are interested in military action simply for its own sake, and to puff out our chests again.  He denies that it’s possible for someone who doesn’t share his political ideology to sympathize with someone’s desire for freedom and democracy.

    Get bent.

Bwahahah!  Ghaddafi is chickening out now that the US….oh, and the UN, who were waiting for us to give the word…..is sending in the troops.

The BBC’s ideology is forcing them now to try to spin it the other way.

Barbara “Tears” Plett telling us on the News Channel just now that the US has been “ambiguous” and “split” over whether to go with diplomacy or military intervention.  This is the same Narrative spun by Mardell (although in much more positive terms).  So where was the diplomacy?  Did I blink and miss it?

Beeboids must be rending their garments about now.  I just saw Shadow Defense Secretary Jim Murphy tell the News Channel that the stronger version of the UN resolution was absolutely necessary to do this properly.  Even Labour is in favor of this war for oil.  How to attack Cameron now?  LOL.
