SEASONAL HEADLIGHTS…

Here for your seasonal delectation is a nice BBC picture of AGW in action – the River Wharfe at Bolton Abbey near Skipton (one of my favourite childhood haunts)covered in that warming icing for the first time in a generation. Paul Hudson – perhaps the one BBC employee who is prepared to occasionally look outside the warming frame – also notes that the River Humber and Whitby Harbour are both freezing over (last recorded in 1962/3), and even the Nidd at Knaresborough is solid. Meanwhile, the rest of the BBC remains eerily silent about the causes. Rabbits caught in the headlights? A merry Christmas to everyone!

Gobal warming, innit?  Everybody knows that
Global warming means colder (or milder) winters, dunnit?

I’ve been looking at a pdf which describes recorded weather and climatological events going back to 6 A.D.  It’s surprsing what’s been happening, in a past devoid of power stations, SUVs and nasty industry – in 7 A.D there was a great flood of the Thames, and many people died, and cattle destroyed.  14 A.D it was the Severn, 29 A.D., the river Trent, 33 A.D the river Dee,  37 A.D., the river Medway.  Same ever since, every few years with brutal winters, hot summers, etc., etc.  What is surprising are the reports of people and cattle succumbing in their thousands during these events.  So we must be doing something right…

So, when th BBC and Met Office talk about “since records began”, the period to which they allude means bugger all.

    Merry Christmas.

It must be over 25 years since I was last at Bolton Abbey.  Quite different scene to that lovely picture because I remember Swallows flying right past my legs as I was walking, it was a beautiful summer’s day.

Back to the subject, London used to have Frost Fairs on the river most winters prior to the building of Tower Bridge (or one of the bridges anyway) so it shows that extreme weathers have always been around.  Now there are so many more people in the country more will be affected, and records are much more meticulous and detailed now.  I suspect, like many, that there hasn’t been any significant change in this country since before the Industrial Revolution.

Was there any explanation when they changed the name from global warming to climate change?

An Interesting episode on BBC news 24 recently – A news presenter got into a pickle when he joked with a guest about the unusually cold weather in relation to global warming, then remembering where he was, he added rather worriedly “I will probably get in to trouble for that”, he then handed over to a weather presenter who tut tutted and muttered disapprovingly.  The presenter continued to look worried for some time after.

I’m not surprised the presenter was worried.  Comments like that are literally career-threatening.

Apologies for double posting (moving this post from the Open Thread) but here is the best place for it.

The BBC does report – it just ignores its own reports.

The River Wear is frozen at Durham City too. This is the second time this year.

“I spoke to a couple of people earlier who said they’d lived in Durham 20 years and not seen the Wear frozen! [Jan 2010]”

It is good to see Paul Hudson seems to be standing his ground.  The only honest guy around at the BBC.  Also a damn sight more expert than most of the BBC’s other “experts” who are simply propagandists for Warmism.

Paul Hudson gives the local weather for Hull and East Yorkshire – his repartee with Peter Levy who leads Look North is a pleasure – as politically incorrect as I suspect Paul Hudson dares and when I am in other parts of the country and see their po faced weather people it makes me appreciate what we have here.

Interesting discussion on Bishop Hill’s blog http://bishophill.squarespace.com/blog/2010/12/24/norfolk-police-speak.html concerning the (lack of) progress of the Norfolk Police “investigation” into ClimateGate.  As to who actually leaked the emails, the consensus (bad word I know but, in this case, more or less justified) is that it was an inside job.  As to who the insider was, since the BBC’s Paul Hudson received the leak about a month before anybody else, it appears more than possible that the BBC knows.  Of course, if you wanted to keep asserting that the emails were “stolen” or “hacked” then such knowledge would be embarrassing and would likely be stored in the same safe as the Balen Report.

Thousands of “climate scientists” and “activists and campaigners” (salaried press officers, which is what they are) environment reporters, Met-office data-diddlers, energy-policy civil servants must be staring into a black hole right now: the end of their careers.  End of the road for the Climate scam.  Gravy train stuck in a siding. Worthless qualifications. CV torn up.

What joy. What a gift for the new year. World does not need saving. We are not doomed. Do you think they look happy?

While on the subject of quotes – the ones above are pretty tame compared to the real nut cases that the BBC do not expose. It seems that people can espouse mass murder and get away with it in the name of AGW.

Like the majority of current royals (I suppose one has to exclude Her Maj…), Prince Phileeeep is as mad as a bag of spanners.  There’s not much danger of HIS reincarnation, he and Charlie Boy (who is as mad as a box of frogs) are destined for a special place, from whence reincarnation is impossible.  There will be angels in white coats, straitjackets, padded rooms and padlocks.

I’ve spent many a lovely day in and around Bolton Abbey, one particular day the river was that high you couldn’t see the stepping blocks.

    Thanks for the photo
