Question Time LiveBlog 11th November 2010

Armistice Day Question Time tonight comes from London.

On the panel tonight we have Theresa May MP, Caroline Flint MP, Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles (the Special Ambassador to Afghanistan and Pakistan), Clive James and Douglas Murray.

For those playing the Buzzword Bingo we’ll be using the Rioting Student Rules, meaning that tuition fees,  LibDem betrayal, manifesto pledgesfire extinguisher and attempted murder are all in play.  For this game Scottish players can be bussed in to take part in the event though the results don’t affect them. References connecting the riots to Thatcher and the Community Charge Disturbances are worth bonus points tonight.

The LiveBlog will also cover the awful This Week, with Andrew Neil, Michael Portillo and the next one off the current conveyor belt of balancing socialist windbags.

David Vance, TheEye and David Mosque will be manning the barricades here from 10:30pm.

Just put this on the main thread but might as well repost it here as it’s more relevant.

I expect tonight’s QT audience will be stuffed with lefty students, the riots will all be the fault of the Met police, Teresa May will be interrupted by David Dimbleby whenever she makes a valid point and lefty scum and I expect that the question over the wrongs of bearded Islamic pigs being allowed to protest at the Armistice Day commemorations will not get asked.

I hope so, someone will need to counter large defence the BBC/audience is going to put up tonight and we know Teresa won’t be given the chance.

Indeed Llew. I wonder if anyone will be allowed to raise Herman Van Rompuy’s Berlin speech about nation states being unable to stand alone and Euroscepticism being a danger that will lead to war?

It would be nice to see it mentioned on the BBC, given the deliberate editorial omission of the subject in its news coverage (ditto the Grauniad)…

Can the Beeb let go of its pro-EU bias even for a few moments?

I could almost bring myself to watch it just to find out. Any mention will have to include platitiudes about the ‘moderate majority’.

One move which the BBC put on the schedule earlier tonight was the fact that Sally Bercow was one of the panellists on Have I got news for you. Has anybody else been on the programme having
    achieved as little as her?

    She wasn’t funny either…

She is funny when she is with her pint sized husband.

Just a thought, but dont these gratuitous personal comments do a disservice to the cause we’re trying to promote here?  I think civility and impartiality, decency and integrity, are causes that go hand in hand?

Good point. The personal comments can be apt and funny, but the purpose of this blog is to highlight the BBC’s partiality, lack of journalistic integrity and frequent crass incompetence.

Fair point, I have removed my unintended “offensive” post.

Didn’t think my comment was gratuitous or that personal. Just an observation. If I have offended your sensitivities then I will withdraw. I can get enough puritism from the socialists.

Great to hear.  From what I’ve seen of Douglas Murray he can be dazzlingly articulate.  If anyone posts this edition on youtube I’d love to see it.  I’m in Spain so can’t view it via the BBC.
