Question Time LiveBlog 10th June 2010

Question Time tonight comes from Plymouth, a city with the 11th largest University in the United Kingdom by number of students, and the largest operational naval base in Western Europe – HMNB Devonport.

Plymouth is represented by the three constituencies of Plymouth Moor View (Oliver Colvile Con), Plymouth Sutton and Devonport (Alison Seabeck Lab) and South West Devon (Gary Streeter Con).

On the panel we have SecState for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport Jeremy Hunt, his Shadow Little Ben Bradshaw, Respect leader and Spokesman for Birmingham Central Mosque Salma Yaqoob, food writer Toby Young and Katie Hopkins (apparently a 2007 contestant on The Apprentice, once a stand-by contestant for Big Brother and with a sex life frequently splashed in gruesome detail across the tabloids).

For those playing the Buzzword Bingo, we’ll be invoking the Nothing New Under The Sun Rules which means that all of last week’s topics Gun Control, Israeli Piracy, and BP Oil Slick score a rollover bonus. Those with the phrase “Afghanistan” or “Labour Leadership” on their cards advance four squares, and any positive references to “Geert Wilders” result in an instant win.

As usual the LiveBlog will also cover the entertainingly awful This Week, presented by Brillo in cahoots with Michael Portillo and Caroline Flint.

David Vance, TheEye and David Mosque will be holding back the hordes of barbarians here from 10:30pm.

BBC’s continuing over-representation of Islam ,and of ‘Respect’, as tonight, ‘QT’.

Apparently, ‘Respect’ and the ‘New Statesman’ represent the Islamic future of Britain which the BBC propagandises for:

“Friday prayers at the ‘New Statesman'”

Unbelievable panel. Not even worthy of comment. Why are the Tories still agreeing to take part ?  Are they mad ?

  4. David Preiser (USA) says:

Do we get extra points if we have ‘piracy’ on our card and Dimbleby pronounces it “peeeeeracy”?

The leading question will be about that shocking poll result that people in the UK associate Islam with terrorism.

My bet for the Islam question, actually, is a Prince Charles eco lifestyle slanted one. Ticks more BBC boxes.

Why are respect on QT? Galloway is no longer an MP. Do they have any MEP’s?

  6. John Horne Tooke says:

Salma Yaqoob is on to demonise Isreal – its very clear why the BBC chose the unelected and unelectable on their programmes. I will not be watching as I know very well what it will be like. Once you have seen one you have seen them all.

The original idea of QT was for members of the public to ask questions of ministers. Something else thats past its sell by date.

She’ll be on to defend Islam against the idea that people associate it with terrorism, surely.

  7. Framer says:

Channel 4 News did a creditable piece on the Dutch elections tonight as opposed to the BBC who tried to say it was going to be all about the economy and there would be no Wilders surge.

Yaqoob is a BBC favourite. She turned up on the “Midlands Today” programme yesterday stirring it up about allegedly “secret” cameras being used to “spy” on the Muslim areas in Birmingham.
Interesting to note that when the BNP is mentioned on the BBC  its always called the “FAR RIGHT BNP” as though it was it’s full name.
Yet when Respect is mentioned it’s never called the FAR/EXTREME/ANTI-SEMITIC LEFT RESPECT PARTY”.
Nor are they ever asked any awkward questions about their extremist policies, racist anti-Jewish policies.
