TIGERS IN CENTRAL LONDON.

Notice the sympathetic treatment being given to the infestation of the area around Parliament by thousands of pro-terror Tami Tiger supporters by the BBC? We are invited to feel their pain, and of course the police treatment afforded them is with kid gloves. Compare this treatment to that afforded to the Country Sports supporters by both the BBC and the Police.

I heard the BBC describe someone today as a London guy as spokesman for the Tamil community.

OK that’s another bunch that feels separate from the host nation ?

And who the hell do they think they are, trying to impose their wishes on Britain’s foreign policy ?

It seems this country is just a haven for anyone. I have no idea why they should protest in London.

Want to cause havoc on the sreets come to England – We’ll welcome anyone except for elected Dutch MPs.

“Sri Lanka – a former British colony.”??
Ceylon was independant in 1948 – thats 61 years.

Every single foreign greivance is played out on the streets of London at a cost to us.

This has been quite an extraordinary (non)story from the BBC.

I honestly cannot think of a similar series of demonstrations that has received so little coverage.

News management to fit an agenda? Surely not!

If these twats don’t like what’s going on why don’t they eff off home and protest there?

    Scum and cowards.

I don’t think it was a nonstory. There was a story in the fact that the Police were being so ‘light touch’ that they themselves seemed to be in danger.
Still, not as bad as G20 when they were in danger and there was damage to public property (The RBS). That was a significant failure of Policing.

Why is it that the BBC World Service, other than giving highly-biased “news”, is always full of utterly boring and irrelevant features – eg right now there is 30 minutes about the “spirit children” of Sierra Leone.

Who cares ? Why are UK taxpayers shelling out for all this rubbish ? Why is there far more stuff about obscure topics in Africa than reports from countries in the Anglosphere ? Damn all ever, for example, from New Zealand, where there are only about 4 million people of UK stock. Or OZ or Canada.

Nope – just endless stuff about Africa, not news, not even interesting.

Surely the BBC could point out that the citizenship classes in British schools gives an over-riding “British identity” to children from the thousands of different (but equal) ‘communities’ that all proudly maintain their parent cultures after four generations residing on this small island, sorry ‘tiny island’.

This will explain why we shouldn’t worry about London being brought to a standstill by Tigers and not fear the concept of an immigrant community demanding secessation from the host community. After all Fiji is a happy place

A female friend of mine is Sri Lankan. Fully integrated into UK life. Totally British. No ‘split loyalties’.

However, she has family members living in Sri Lanka. Are you saying that she shouldn’t be allowed to petition her government, that she pays for, to ‘do something’ about the mass murder of civilians in Sri Lanka?

I think it is totally acceptable for British people to petition the government to stop genocide abroad.

What annoys me, is the airtime given to ‘palestinian suffering’, compared to large scale killing in places like Sudan, Sri Lanka, etc.

If the BBC actually did its job and reported the news, then perhaps these people wouldn’t feel the need to bring Westminster to stand still? The BBC has been studiously avoiding all mention of the horrendous war crimes being carried out in Sri Lanka for the past year. Now, because of this demo, they can’t ignore it.

I think the protesters are probably realistic about what Britain can actually do – i.e. nothing except a bit of strong language. However, they probably feel that they can’t just carry on life as normal, while their family members die and the MSM/UK Government/BBC fail to acknowledge that there is even a problem.

Good luck to them, so long as things remain peaceful, then I don’t really see the problem. It shows how far Britain has come, when people aren’t allowed to peacefully demonstrate outside Parliament any more.

    NOW HOLD ON GUYS –

We need to clear up a few misconceptions here:

When we governed Ceylon, the Tamils were noticeably harder working and more honest than the Sinhalese. So we British shipped in some more Tamils from Southern India to work the tea plantations.

The Tamils continued to work hard and many got a good education. They became known as ‘the Jews of Ceylon’ as they started their own businesses and prospered.

As the majority Sinhalese started to agitate for independence, the Tamils became the Police officers, civil servants and railway station managers working for the Brits, even when the other lot called strikes.

When we left Ceylon the majority Sinhalese started to elect either extreme nationalist or socialist governments. The Tamils were despised because of their previous association with the “wicked colonialists”.

To punish the Tamils, the government abolished ENGLISH as the language schoolkids were taught in – everyone had to learn Sinhalese. This was the STUPIDEST thing ever done – condemning the nation to economic backwardness and creating a Tamil independence movement.

These guys historically were our friends and allies.

Those Tamils who have moved to UK tend to work hard, own small shops, make sure their kids work hard at school and in many respects try hard to integrate – again following the Jewish pattern.

Tamils are not all the same religion. Most are Hindu, a lot are Roman Catholic, a minority are RoP.

I spent 2 months in a RoP Tamil village some years ago. There was no mosque. No muezzin and no Imam. More RoP-in-name-only. No veils or beards either.

Where I live the four nearest corner shops – newsagents and general stores – are all owned by Tamil Catholics. They play a full part in the local community – collect for charities, one is a governor of the nearby Catholic primary.

Since the Jews, I can’t think of a community that has tried harder to integrate. The current generation mostly came as refugees from persecution and violence. Judging from the Tamil kids in my daughter’s class – the next generation will be doctors, lawyers and accountants.

Most are extremely CRITICAL of the terrorist Tigers. These demos have not been in support of the terrs, but a plea to rescue civilians caught in the crossfire.

Those civvies at risk are often the parents, aunts, grandparents etc of the refugees here.

    Give these guys a break……

    Good points Grimer.

What marks the Beeboud “reporting” of this protest is the calm objectitivy, unlike the hysterical partisanship that characterises all “reporting” of Israel/Palestine, and anything to do with America (though I suspect that when The One starts cocking things up, we may get a more muted coverage of the Obamessiah administration).

Anyone catch the revolting Eddie “Caring” Mair on PM last night? His coverage of the Geneva protests was so bad – and so biased – that it actually had me laughing out loud, which is something the cheating, lying, talentless BBC has not done in a while.

They’re not doing a very good job of “infesting” Parliament square. I managed to jog through it unmolested on Easter weekend and they were well outnumbered by appallingly dressed tourists. Perhaps the Beeb would like this demo to be bigger than it is given their loving of poor downtrodden freedom fighters of all shades.

Not sure about the Country Sports bit. Those protesters were a bunch of aggressive tossers who showed no respect for people trying to get about their business in London and deserved anything they got from the met, just as the Tamils and crusties have in recent weeks. I agree that “police brutality” seemed to be less of a concern of the Beeb then though.

Cockney, the Countryside Alliance march was about much more than fox hunting. It was a protest against a government that ‘showed no respect for people trying to get about their business outside London’. I’m pretty neutral on fox hunting. I really don’t care that much one way or another. However, the way this pitiful excuse for a government has waged class warfare on the countryside, as if everybody that lives there is a landed gentry toff, is disgusting. They don’t have the first clue about Britain outside the major cities. They don’t care either – probably because rural communities tend to be ‘hideously white’.

Bring the shotguns, but leave the Tamils alone.

If you come and shoot the family of foxes that keep raiding my dustbins, I’ll buy you and the missus a slap-up dinner.

Grimer, I’m not arguing that the Countryside Alliance doesn’t have legitimate gripes, just that the police had every right to deal forcefully with that section of their membership who behaved abysmally in London that day. I don’t think the distinction in police treatment which david mentioned between them and the crusties and the tamils existed and nor should it.

Sri Lanka army ‘killed civilians’The Tamil Tigers have accused the Sri Lankan government of killing about 1,000 civilians and injuring many more during its latest military offensive.
The government has denied the allegations, in turn accusing the rebel group of targeting civilians.
It said by midday (0630 GMT) nearly 50,000 civilians had fled the rebel-held area in the north of the island.
Meanwhile government forces say they have made inroads into the sliver of territory still held by the Tigers.
They have entered two villages in the zone and in effect control the north-west third of it.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said it was “extremely worried” about civilians still trapped in the zonehttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/8009459.stm

Reading the above whom do you gain the impression is killing the sick.lame and lazy. Who are the victims (other than the civys)

    And here is how I read up on that story while reading the Guardian;

Exodus from Sri Lanka war zone as Tamil Tigers ignore surrender deadline
The Sri Lankan government has repeatedly claimed that the rebels are using the civilians as human shields, a claim supported by the UN and many other independent observers. There have been a number of credible reports of civilians being killed by the LTTE as they tried to escape from the no-fire zone.

But the government has also faced intense criticism over the way it has gone after the rebels, with the UN estimating that at least 4,500 civilians have been killed in the past three months.http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/apr/21/sri-lanka-tamil-tigers-deadline
