THE PERILS OF PALIN.

How the BBC have been relishing the news that the Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been found guilty of an abuse of power by an official inquiry in Alaska. If you want bias incarnate listen to this link if you can stomach it….with even Watergate being thrown into the rhetorical swirl. The BBC, like the rest of the Obamessiah cheer-leading MSM, are using this to beat up McCain and Palin bang on cue. In fact the report shows that the Governor acted within her proper and lawful authority in the reassignment of Walt Monegan. The report also illustrates that this was a partisan led inquiry run by Obama supporters and the Palins were completely justified in their concern regarding Trooper Wooten given his violent and rogue behavior. Of course if we want real investigative journalism, I can’t wait for the BBC to get stuck into Obama’s association with self proclaimed terrorists and his outreach programme into radical Islam. For some reason, the Beeb have been mute on those minor matters but then again I guess they are so excited about the fact that they can drag Sarah Palin’s name through the mud that they just don’t have the time. Also have a look at the image of Palin the BBC use on their lead portal to illustrate this story, subtle eh? The witch-hunt the BBC have been leading against the Alaskan Governor has been remarkable in it’s intensity as even those who are not fans of Palin acknowledge. It makes me hope she will run for the Presidency in 2012 as the prospect of the BBC intelligentsia being driven mad appeals.

Witch-hunt is precisely right. The hissing venom with which the bien pensant crowd in this country has attacked Governbor Palin has been unprecedented. Even Margaret Thatcher was treated with more respect (though barely, at times!). I’d say there was misogyny at work, but so much of it comes from other women.

And still not a word of the infinitely more serious scandals swirling round Obama, scandals which, were they attached to McCain, would see him hounded from the campaign.

This is the BBC at its very worst. We must never let them forget how low they have stooped.

“The Branchflower Report is a series of guess and insupportable conclusions drawn by exactly one guy, and it hasn’t been approved or adopted or endorsed by so much as a single sub-committee of the Alaska Legislature, much less any kind of commission, court, jury, or other proper adjudicatory body.”

    finding two from the report:
I find that, although Walt Monegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

“For the record, no one ever said fire Wooten. Not the governor. Not Todd. Not any of the other staff,” Monegan said Friday from Portland. “What they said directly was more along the lines of ‘This isn’t a person that we would want to be representing our state troopers.’ ”

and right at the bottom of that link is this:

The personnel investigation began in April 2005, long before Palin became governor and months before her October 2005 announcement that she was running. The investigation into Wooten wrapped up in March 2006, before she was elected.

Troopers found four instances in which Wooten violated policy, broke the law, or both.

    http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/blog/g/134db782-50f0-42e5-8171-791804d9fbc1

Even the Anchorage Daily News is misrepresenting the meaning of this report: I just received an email update from it in which it claims that “Today Alaska legislators found Palin did abuse her power in the ‘Troopergate’ controversy.”

That’s absolutely false — the Alaska Legislature is not in session, and all that happened today was that the 12-member Legislative Council that received the Branchflower Report voted unanimously to release its first volume (the 263-page .pdf file linked above) to the public.

Several more volumes and hundreds more pages prepared by Branchflower still remain confidential — suggesting that Branchflower’s selective quotations in the report may well have been “cherry-picked” or taken out of context — but the governor’s office has itself posted quite a few more documents pertaining to the investigation on the internet, confirming Gov. Palin’s repeated statements that she has nothing to hide in this entire matter.

The Troopergate thing is debateable at best. It is a storm in a teacup. But it is still top item on the 1pm Radio 4 news. (That’s after the bunch of unfunny leftists on the News Quiz – who were still grinding out Palin/Christianity rubbish when the prog. was recorded BEFORE the Troopergate report.)

How about the BBC turning the same amount of headlines and energy and commentary and “comedians” to Obama’s links with Bill Ayers and with ACORN.

At root – there is a plausible argument that the activities of ACORN, which Obama was very much involved in, lie at the root of the entire financial crisis. By forcing banks, threatening them, suing them, to give tons of mortgages to people who had nil chance of repaying them.

This was then compounded by Obama and the Dems in Congress defending Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from tighter regulation as proposed by McCain and others.

On the one hand – the BBC gives headline coverage to the Palin non-issue.

On the other hand, it covers up, gives nil coverage to Obama’s years of working with an unrepentant terrorist, and the fact that he and his friends at ACORN and in Congress are substantially responsible for the world financial crash.

    Ok…

What, the report states that “this was a partisan inquiry”… sounds like an opinion about the report to me. I’m sure that wasn’t mentioned in the report itself, but correct me if I’m wrong.

I was wondering where you got these conclusions from. You provide no links etc. to back up these points.

Then I noticed that they appear pretty much word for word in this report:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7662820.stm

‘But the McCain-Palin campaign team said that the report showed Mrs Palin acted within “proper and lawful authority”.’

‘”This was a partisan-led inquiry run by [Democratic candidate Barack] Obama supporters and the Palins were completely justified in their concern,” a McCain campaign spokesperson said.’

It seems to me that the BBC are indeed covering what you said pretty much word for word (and I wouldn’t be surprised if the BBC report was your source for comments). Also with the more accurate context of being the Replublican reaction to the report.

In his book “The Case Against Barak Obama – The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media’s Favorite Candidate”, David Freddosa explains how Obama uses lawyers and “official enquiries” to disqualify his opponents. In fact he has won very few, if any, elections. His opponents get taken out of the race long before election day. He even did this to fellow Democrats. Same playbook here.

For those in the UK who rely on the BBC, you may like the other side of the story. Freddosa has a website: http://www.caseagainstbarakobama.com and there are several YOUTUBE clips of the author giving US radio and TV interviews. (He was banned from one Chicago radio station – so he must be on the right track.) I can’t give you the YOUTUBE tags because the clips have a habit of being taken down as soon as they’re posted. But a search at YOUTUBE should get the latest ones posted.

In the interests of balance, Freddosa’s story deserves to be heard. Isn’t it sad when we have to resort to this kind of stuff to get a fair picture?

    PS:
Once again I must question the kind of folks the BBC is using to contribute to its output. Yesterday here on Biased BBC, David Preiser (USA) showed us how unreliable Greg Palast is. Why is he used as a “reporter” by Newnight?

Today I discover an article by one Jaine Stiehm, described as a “Political commentator, Washington DC”. She writes on the BBC website:

“Senator John McCain’s personal charms are in danger of turning into a liability as the former Navy fighter pilot looms large in the American sky. In private the impetuous, nearly manic nature of the Republican running for president is exhilarating – in public it’s beginning to look like volatility, a cause for alarm among friends and foes alike.”

This seemed so familiar – it’s the left wing MSNBC news network’s favored narrative of “angry John” – that I looked into other articles Ms Steihm may have written. And guess where I found her? Yup. That beacon of balance The Huffington Post waxing lyrical and getting all moist for Obama:

“…Obama’s title is wistful and yearning, with a poetical ring that brings to mind the ancient Homeric epic hero Odysseus and his son, Telemachus, who spent years in search of his father. Obama’s self-portrait as the son of a Kenyan father and a Kansan mother shows him on an identity quest in a country he calls a “magical place” on the campaign trail. His life story, spanning Hawaii, Indonesia and Harvard Law School, is indeed “improbable,” a word he uses often to salt his speeches.”

Here she is giving Joseph Biden advice on his debate with Palin:

“Biden needs to get in the ring with the four-eyed Palin. He had better not pull his punches, for her steely confidence will not blink in the face of genteel expertise. If he defers to her, she’ll have him for dinner served cold with caribou and baked Alaska.” (NB Steihm’s use of the almost abusive “the four-eyed Palin”.)

And this Steihm woman is now being used by the BBC and is described simply as a “Political commentator, Washington DC”.

The BBC will hang its head in shame (if it has any left) when this period of its history is written. Let’s hope it’ll be the last chapter.

The Radio Five Live news team this afternoon has been enjoying itself immensely with fresh anti-Republican items for each half-hour bulletin. At 1pm we had a soundbite from a UK professor of something eagerly claiming that Palin is very damaged by the Alaskan inquiry. The 1.30pm headlines highlighted a Newsweek poll showing an 11-point Obama lead (no mention of the sample – 280 Republicans, 402 Democrats, 325 Independents). My hedge trimmer drowned out the 2pm bulletin, but at 2.30pm the third headline item was the vital news that a woman at a McCain rally said Obama was an Arab (my radio almost fell victim to the hedge trimmers at that stage.) It goes without saying that there still has been no mention at all of the ACORN voter registration fraud.

quite an odd statement to make – Iain Dale , the blogger, is very pro Palin, and although he’s an admirer of Thatcher, he’s relatively middle of the road in conservative circles.
