THE PAIN FOR PALIN.

Sarah Palin(Did I mention she has a pregnant unmarried 17 year old daughter?) has given a wonderful speech at the RNC and the BBC are most unhappy about it. I caught James Naughtie being interviewed about it at 6.35am this morning on Today and all he could observe was that by Palin (Did I mention she has a pregnant unmarried 17 year old daughter?) going for Obama – the Chosen One – she now left herself open to attack by Obama. Seriously!! As if the orchestrated and frenzied attacks on Sarah Palin and her famly by the Dem attack dogs and their media chattels since last Friday were just political foreplay. Oh – and whilst she may have covered ethics reform, energy policy, chief executive policy AND exposed the Chosen One’s lack of experience, James wrily noted she had not covered global warming. There you go then – Palin’s speech – just typical conference fare which plays into Obama’s hands. Unbelievable. There is NO WAY that the BBC is prepared to let go of its narrative that Obama is going into the White House and and so even when the GOP base is energised by Palin and American women have a real role model for vote for, it is relentlessly downplayed to the point of being almost muted by the rotten biased despicable BBC. (Oh, and don’t forget, Palin has a pregnant unmarried 17 year old daughter)

Yes- the BBC probably see Daily Kos kids as centrist.

I wonder what BBC Washington correspondent Katty Kay thinks of Webb’s views on working mothers, given that she’s got four kids.

(Yesterday Frei was making snidey comments about Palin’s “crowded family” and yet he and Katty Kay have 8 kids between them.)

Hugh, you should send that quote to Drudge, Hugh Hewitt, and every other conservative outlet you can think of. Everyone needs to see the BBC clearly taking a pro-abortion stance, especially the advocation of aborting retarded children.

    What a load of bs.

Palin is a massive gamble by McCain that may pay off, but will more likely just lead to a bigger defeat (but if you are 1-0 down with minutes left you might as well attack and risk going 2 down).

Theres lots to come out about her not just the unmarried pregnant daughter.

And a woman so close to the presidency (MCcain is still a 72 year old with a serious medical past) in the US is always going to be a controversial sell at best. The only previous candidate was slaughtered by the republicans in the ‘Fritz and Titz’ successful smear campaign.

McCain has taken a gamble because he was ambling to defeat, maybe this will help, to change it we will see.

Brown would have to try something even more radical to try and save himself here, which I just can’t see, or someone new will have to try something at least as risky (at least possible).

If any of you believe different about McCain or Brown I’m afraid you are clutching at very sparse straws.

    Hugh,

I just sent in a complaint to the BBC about the lies in the article you mention at the top of this thread. They promote three lies which have already been disproved: involvement in the Alaska Independence Party, teaching Creationism in schools, and the pork issue. All known to be false, yet the BBC presents these as legitimate issues.

I also told them it wasn’t within the BBC’s remit to advocate for the abortion of disabled children.

Also, I was the Anonymous above who recommended sending this article to Drudge, etc.

DP: I’ve stuck a complaint in as well. However, as I have 4 outstanding already (no replies from the BBC) I’m not holding my breath.

Why is having an umarried pregnant daughter an issue? The only people who might conceivably feel this was detrimental would be the evangelical Christians who don’t appear to be upset.

Now Barack Obama’s association (and obvious agreement with) an extremist black preacher, his taking money from a known mobster and his association with a US terrorist group coupled with his lack of any executive experience whatsoever might seem to be rather more important than the sexual morals of the daughter of the potential vice president.

    Or maybe not

Thank you for telling us what lay below your opening line. Is that you Matt Freid-Brain, Or Justin The tank for Obama?

I did force myself to read your BS, and you are perceptively correct. You are talking ignorantly through your arse.

But please, do try to tell those of us who have followed the US elections 24/7 for the past 8 years which National Enquirer story you are referring to.

I mean, you are not actually claiming a secret hotline to the Ummmm-bama campaign are you?

And you are not seriously comparing the no-chance campaign of Modale and Ferraro against the most beloved President in the past 60 years, are you?

Good Lord, all the incredibly successful Reagan had to do was turn up to beat that hopeless pair for his 2nd Term, which had NOWT to do with the female sex of one of the candidates.

RedState is reporting that the teleprompter broke half way through Palin’s speech. This explains why, as I noted last night, she started deviating from the prepared text. She apparently delivered the remainder of the speech from memory. She also had the text of the speech on paper at the podium–a useful backup any time you’re using a teleprompter!–and she might have consulted it a time or two during applause breaks, but she certainly didn’t read from it. So what could have been a disaster instead appears to be more evidence of Palin’s steady nerve.

Contrast this to Barack Obama who, when last his teleprompter malfunctioned, was left stuttering before a crowd unable to advance his speech until the problem was resolved.
    Sarah Palin. Winner.

If you’re going to mention Kos, tell the Beeboids that Kos himself thought it was such garbage he removed the whole thing from his site. That sort of “down the memory hole” action will hit home with them.

in this evening’s report on her speech they mention that post-speech polls say that “more than 50 per cent” of americans were either favourable and highly favourable.

the real answer is that it is EIGHTY PER CENT….NOT “more than 50 per cent” – its EIGHTY PER CENT.

Thanks guys, I caught a bit of it this morning through a link from the Sydney Morning Herald, of all places but will check it out further.

The World Service amazed me today. They had straight reporting on Palin’s speech. No jeering, no sneering, no sarcasm, no patrionising, no snobbish superiority, no endless sniggering at the pregnant daughter.

Though there wasn’t much depth to it, it was still responsible, objective journalism. I could hardly believe I was listening to the BBC. Could be someone in management has been kicking journalistic butt. But I guess it’s probably just a flash in the pan.

one more thing – hugh hewitt has been taking “gals only” calls all week.. just to gauge the female vote.

one thing he noted that stood out is that they are ALL calling her “Sarah”.

now that might not sound remarkable to our ears – but in america there is a strong appreciation of folks who reach public office. so its “Senator This”, “Governer that” and “Mister President”.

to just be calling her “Sarah” says something.

note how the Dems refer to their candidate by his surname… “Obama” and never “Barack”.

why? because there isnt the personal connection. but by god is there a PERSONAL connection amongst female voters with “Sarah”.

pass the popcorn – this election is like something out of the “west wing”.

The debate opened yesterday, and for a long time only about 19 comments were published with pro-Palin ones getting most recommended. For hours there was nothing more. Suddenly, the anti-Palin ones shot up in the ‘recommended’ count, about a thousand additional comments were added within a couple of hours, and the discussion (including recommendation) promptly closed down.

    Nice timing, Beeboids.

I read through the first few pages of the Most Recent comments. The majority were venomously against Palin and for the Democrats. It would be fascinating to have a look at the more than 50% of comments that were not published. Knowing the moderators, that’s probably where most of the pro-Palin comments ended up.

Isn’t it typical of the BBC to abruptly shut down a wildly popular debate just as it’s taking off.
