THE FROG AND THE SCORPION.

The delight with which the BBC have been trailing the acquired scalp of Boris Johnsons’ Deputy Mayor, Ray Lewis, following his resignation last night has been a wonder to behold. There has been a positive glee in the tone and depth of the coverage adopted which should make Cameron recall the fable of the frog and the scorpion. Destroying anything and anyone right of liberal is what the BBC does. Cameron can expect much more of this from the State Broadcaster and I do not envy Boris Johnson his time ahead. There is no way the BBC can be reformed because it is institutionally politicised and corrupted by left-wing values which is why it will continually provide a free pass to the likes of Peter Hain, Mick Martin, Yvette Cooper et al whilst excoriating the likes of Lewis. We often talk about the degree of BBC bias here but I would suggest that the BBC is not just biased – it has become a threat.

The BBC became a threat in the 1960s and has never looked back. Thanks to its status as “the national hearth,” it’s impact on all aspects of British society has been utterly catastrophic.

The Americans are only now just waking up to the impact that the Beeb’s spiteful reporting is having on America’s image across the world.

Agreed. I’ve sent in numerous emails and texts to the BBC such as 5 live challenging them over the sleaze around Lee Jasper and why the BBC has failed to highlight this.

    None have been read out.

The BBC is a material threat. If Cameron does not do something about the BBC in the flush of early victory, he will go down as missing an historic opportunity.

Essentially they are still fighting the mayoral election in the same way that they continued to fight the government over the “sexing up” broadcast and its aftermath. They dont accept the result which they campaigned against energetically (I especially enjoyed a preposterous Jenni Murray special, on one of her many radio outlets, that was more or less a campaign broadcast for “our Ken”); and so they will just continue to treat it as illegitimate, as they did Huttons report. Still no-one, whose mind is open to pursuasion, takes them seriously any longer because the blatant arrogant editorialising has destroyed their credibilty as the growing popularity of this site demonstrates – and that lack of a credible broadcaster is a menace at a time when, for example, the Lord Chief Justice appears to be advocating divine law-making.

that rotting smell of hypocrisy wafting from the bbc really turns my stomach,so much so i’ve finally cancelled my direct debit on the licence fee and ditched the tv.

If an organisation could jack off, the BBC would be spurting all over the place over this Lewis story. It really is astounding how much coverage this has received in contrast to what happened with Lee Jasper.

Yes, the comparison between beeboid treatment of Lewis versus Grasper , is a shocking indictment of just how overtly partisan the bbc has become. However, it represents a golden oportunity to e-mail your MP and point out how disgraceful it is – and demand a firm assurance from him that his party will act to reform the bbc.

But what else do we expect from the BBC? Look at the easy time the BBC gave Gorbels Mick, Peter Hain, Wendy Alexander, Tessa Jowell, Harriet Harman, Ed Balls, Yvette Cooper, Gordon Broon, Tony Blair, Peter Mandelson, John Prescott. Need I go on? Yet only Caroline Spelman appears to warrant a thorough investigation.

Dateline London on news24 was a lovefest today.

Toynbee was there, the Europe debate referenced guardian articles, moaned about right wing press and Murdoch, Toynbee thinks Europe is an idea(its very real, dear) not a location and Australia should be included. The economy debate exonerated bogey Brown, everyone was happy, job done. Obligatory reference to dead beeboid, programme ends.

This bias thing must just be my imagination.

    quick repost from the other thread on this;

Look at the youtube clip above. Someone at the Beeb made the decision to find and then show clips of Lewis featuring Cameron – a blatant attempt to show ‘guilt by association’ ie Lewis is dodgy, therefore so is Cameron.

And just in case we don’t get the message that the BBC is trying to put across, they have manipulated the footage by blurring details at the edge of the picture which draws attention to Cameron and Lewis. It’s a tried and trusted photographic trick — and it makes the BBC’s intention clear. None of this happened by accident, it’s a deliberate attempt to smear Cameron. The person responsible should be sacked, but they won’t be, cos it’s the BBC and it’s what they do.

Note the look of glee on the studio presenter’s face when the camera cuts back to her at the end of the clip.

What did they do, smear Vaseline on the camera lens? I’m at a loss for words – disgusting!

Does anybody recognise what word the reporter signs off with in that clip? It sounded like “crab”, but that makes little sense- it seemed to make the newsreader chuckle somehow. No call for that laugh that I could see.

Well, Ray Lewis has committed the ultimate sin (in the eyes of Al Beeb). A black man mustn’t be a conservative. I’m not surprised about the viciousness of their campaign.

  15. Greencoat says:

disillusioned german – I see it the other way around. Lewis, though dodgy as all get out, was made deputy mayor because he is black ie as a sop to the Left.
But the Left went in for the kill anyway, as it always does.
So I don’t know about frogs and scorpions but the moral here is clear:
don’t bother trying to be nice to your enemy, hoping he’ll leave you alone. Because it doesn’t work.

Agreed. The BBC have been wanking on about Obama but ignored the fact Bush has had an incredible black African American in his cabinet for years. A woman at that.

Colin Powell was also a high profile back American.

    The BBC attacked these two.

So the moral to the Tories is simple. Appoint good people, but don’t put minorities up there to buy off the left.

The headline the BBC are currently running on the story tells you all you need to know:

    “Tories in disarray over Lewis”

It’s only when you actually click on the link that you discover that this is a Labour quote from Hazel Blears. Surely any remotely impartial broadcaster would write something along the lines of “Blears claims Tories in “disarray””, instead of simply presenting this quote from a Labour source as a fact.

If you needed any further evidence of BBC in Labour defence mode, see the “analysis” of the situation, an example of the sort of lousy, partisan journalism that the BBC is quickly becoming renowned for.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7491017.stm

And if that isn’t enough, check out Brian Taylor’s blog on the Glasgow East bye-election- yes, no prizes for guessing that, yet again, a BBC journalist proves incapable of avoiding the parroting of Labour spin: “Labour can, of course, recover from this.”

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/briantaylor/2008/07/labour_lagging_in_byelection_r.html

The sooner the BBC is destroyed the better- it is undoubtedly unfit for purpose.

Martin: I would like to read an “Al Beeb style” piece on Justice Clarance Thomas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_Thomas) – one of the most conservative members of the Supreme Court (and a black gentleman).

Can’t find much about him when using Al Beeb’s site search (http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/search/results.pl?uri=%2F&scope=all&go=toolbar&q=Clarence+Thomas)

  21. disillusioned_german says:

P.S.: Sorry for the typo. It’s Clarence, of courxe.

In addition to that: http://www.townhall.com/ has several top-class columnists who happen to be black conservatives (i.e. Larry Elder). I don’t believe Al Beeb would give them a platform.

When you compare the hatred black conservatives have to deal with from the left to the treatment black liberals get from the right you get an idea who the racists are. And I’m not even talking about Robert (KKK) Byrd.

Interesting slants on the Ray Lewis saga from the Starcourse blog.

    http://starcourse.blogspot.com/2008/07/hewish-huxley-and-ray-lewis.html

Apparently the Bishop of Chelmsford, who popped up on Channel 4 to denounce Lewis, has an axe to grind.

He was passed over for the Archbishopric of York in favour of the present incumbent John Sentamu – who is a) black and b) principal patron of Ray Lewis’s charity EYLA.

The Times describes the bishop as “A far left liberal activist…”

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/article725983.ece

    Other intersting points:-

Lewis set up EYLA with £20,000 of his own money.

EYLA won the Guardian Charity Award in 2007.

Two senior Tories, Steven Norris and Frances Maude, are on EYLA’s board.

In short, a classic left wing smear job – worthy of 1970’s “Militant Tendency”.

From the BBC’s point of view it would have been very difficult to refute the charges made against the likes of Hain, Jasper et al, so don’t expect them to even try. The BBC will simply mount an all-out campaign to get Boris Johnson / Ray Lewis censured and discredited and generally distract people from the REAL issues of the day.

BJ and RL are bombastic personalities who no doubt have their faults, but even in this incredibly short period, these faults have been inflated out of all reasonable proportion. It is greatly disturbing to see so many attempts to fit them up while Leninspart enjoys a pleasant retirement.

I see the stories are coming out in the press now about this Labour MP that resigned in Scotland.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1032385/Labour-MP-spent-500-000-taxpayers-money-running-office-home-staffed-wife.html

Can’t find the story on the BBC though.

And now the BBC are spining the Labour line that the Labour candidate for the by election has stood down for family reasons.

No mention on the BBC that he too is the subject of sleaze allegations.

The BBC biased? No never, no way, not the great BBC.

Depends what you mean by London politics. Is the demise of this Lewis bloke a national news story? No. Is London transport or crime policy a national news story? Yes, because if it works (or doesn’t) its massively relevant to every two bit city in the country. Is London economic policy a global issue? Yes, because it’s the global financial capital.

“like who cares what happens in London. It sounds like a ethnically and multicultural diverse hell hole”

Not really, it’s a fantastic place. come visit.
