I prefer the acronymic CAMRA group who fight for good beer – not only do they have a much worthier goal, but they’re also more honest about it.

The beer guys openly lobby for better beer. The media bias guys pretend to lobby for balanced reporting, when really they want the media to be entirely pro-Israel (they even criticise Fox for being insufficiently pro-Israeli, for [insert deity here]’s sake!)

Beer is a matter of taste. I’m all for the likes of CAMRA seeing to it that the highest standards of the brewer’s art are met.

Of course, there’s coercion when it comes to pints. Unfortunately, with the Beeb, no such choice is given. You buy flat, watered down swill from ‘newstenders’ who claim to know what you need whether you asked for it or not.

I guess we could call the B-BBC site “The Better Beeb Guide”. Waddya think?

    Sorry, I should have said–

Of course, there’s no, coercion when it comes to pints.

Indeed, I like the Better Beeb Guide suggestion…

BTW, my criticisms above weren’t aimed at B-BBC – while there might be some exceptions among the team, I don’t think you’d want the BBC to be pro-Israeli biased either.

    Thanks, john b.

We can agree that a ‘Better Beeb’ would just let the facts speak for themselves rather than inserting opinion at every turn. If Orla Guerin would at least give some effort to be even-handed, I’d cut her some slack. Why should it be remarkable to the point of surprise to catch the BBC doing an investigative piece on dirty dealings among the PA. I am happy to see them doing the same with the Israelis as long as they do it in a fair and balanced way (if I don’t sound too much like a certain American cable network that’s not CNN). 🙂
