ST JULIE THE MARTYR

Let us praise Julie Kirkbride, she who is now a martyr to the cause of troughing MP’s! Don’t get me wrong – I think that she is a first class disgrace and should follow in her husband’s footsteps and not seek re-election. Her refusal to do so is allowing the BBC to run this story as IF she were the focus of the expenses sleaze and thus provide Labour with some cover, and of course thee BBC treats the Lib-Dem’s as paragons of virtue. It’s interesting to watch the return of Tory Sleaze as the headline grabber on the BBC just one week before the Euro-election and local Council polls. Entirely coincidental, no doubt.

NADINE THE WHINGE

Well, it saddens me to say this but Conservative charmer Nadine Dorries was appalling on BBC5 live this morning. She came across as a drama queen trougher apologist and whoever advised that this would be a good move is crazy. For once, just for once, the BBC interviewer Victoria Derbyshire, actually made some good points as Nadine dug herself into a hole six foot deep. Did you hear this – or perhaps I imagined it 😉

NOTHING BECAME HIM….

To quote the Bard “Nothing in his life became him like the leaving of it,” says Malcom in MacBeth referring to the traitorous Thane of Cawdor. When it comes to Speaker Michael Martin, I think nothing in his political life becomes him. Period.

But I tuned in to BBC PM and there was Nick Robinson gushing sympathy for this Glaswegian clown. As sickening as Robinson’s cloying words were, the “tributes” to Gorbals Mick from other not so honourable members were even worse. And here’s a question for you; is it possible for the BBC to get through any item on Profligate without referring to Douglas Hogg and his moat? Maybe the mote in BBC eyes stops them also frequently highlighting Lib-Dem greed, for example? I fully accept that ALL the political pigs had their snouts in the trough but BBC coverage seems to damn Labour and Conservatives whilst giving Cleggy and co a free pass.

Finally, did anyone else find it a trifle odd to hear the BBC interview Peter Hain of ALL people on political integrity? Surreal.

PS Just spotted this BBC headline re Trougher Martin. “Pricky, decent, lonely, kind…” – I think I’m going to be sick. How about “Arrogant, biased, greedy inept?”

CHANGE THE POLITICIANS

I see that the politicians, and Labour in particular, are swarming over the BBC this morning claiming “the system” of expenses is wrong and that everything they have done is within the rules. Oh really? I don’t think so. The Labour Government has presided over this criminal abuse of OUR taxes and all that time the politicians kept mute about what they were up to. Blears says that that the public hates “this” system. No we don’t. We hate her and the rest of the free-loaders who rip us off. I’d like to see the BBC itself express rather more outrage at the sheer scale of the fraud perpetrated by ALL the politicians (Hello John Selwyn Gummer!) but it does seem genuinely taken aback by this issue. What say you?

PROFLIGATE UPDATE

Hi all. Been away all day and am only now catching up with things!

I guess the thing that strikes me tonight is the way in which the BBC – playing along with the Nulabour pigs whose snouts have been exposed as having beeb sunk deep into the trough of taxpayer largesse, has been playing up the possible police investigation of the leak to the Telegraph.

Suddenly, at least on the teatime news, the issue was one that focused on whether the police would track the leaker down? Such a helpful distraction from all that unfortunate detail exposed for us all to see. I heard Theresa May interviewed and although a bit on the wet lettuce side, at least she didn’t come across like the Labour MP interviewed this morning who declared that we should respect our politicians. No we should NOT. They should respect US and their unseemly avarice speaks volumes for how little respect they show us. The BBC seems to think the issue is whether this damages the public confidence in politicians. No, it is not. The issue is the rapacious greed of the political class and what this says about the state of our democracy. Surely the BBC should pursue that – fearlessly and without favour? Instead it seems concerned for the honour of the politicians whereas ordinary people just feel enraged at their greed.

I believe there are quite a few lamp-posts within distance of the Palace of Westminster.
