MARX….

I had to laugh. In the 6.30-7am slot reserved each morning for full on BBC regressive leftist nonsense on the Today programme on Radio 4, we were treated this morning to a paean to Marx! How the BBC love to show their communist roots.

Didn’t Owen Smith produce R4 today for nearly 10 years. Was it a Marx free zone, while he was in charge? Highly unlikely!

I don’t know how Smith thinks he can win an election on the basis that he’ll ignore the referendum result. Using democracy to reverse democracy, that’ll go down well. 52% of a 72% turnout is a much bigger mandate than any elected post-war government, Smith and other “freedom when it suits us” MPs like Lammy and Farron shouldn’t be in parliament if they don’t understand how a vote works. Not that it matters as Article 50 will be triggered and likely completed before Labour are ever even remotely considered for reelection.

I was going to reluctantly vote for Smith in the Labour leadership elections, just to keep Corbyn out. But no way can I vote for a man who brags he will turn over the democratic will of the people ‘cos he thinks ‘it’s just not fair!’

Though I guess if he were to win then Labour could overturn that democratic victory too.

ALM … I believe the Remainer strategy is to delay and delay Article 50 until the next GE will occur before we leave the EU.

Then the next Government can say it has a mandate to ignore the Referendum.

If Saint Theresa doesn’t produce a satisfactory Brexit solution (which for me means no automatic EU immigration, no payments to the EU as a minimum), suggestions like this make UKIP an ever more acceptable alternative to my lifetime Tory voting.

      Peter,

I think that , if she doesn’t pull her finger out within a year, there will be a grass roots revolt and a challenge to her leadership. I am sure the majority of members of the party voted Brexit and anyone who ignores their membership deserves the chop.

Let us never forget that the “most impotant leader in the EU” (Merkel, in case you don’t realise that EU=Fourth Reich) was schooled and trained in a Communist state (East Germany) AND was a leading member of the Free German Youth (FDJ), the official youth movement sponsored by the ruling Socialist Unity Party. In fact she was a member of the FDJ district board and secretary for “Agitprop” (Agitation and Propaganda).

A recent profile of Merkel put in some extra information that you do not include: that she left these organisations after a short period or, in some cases, was asked to leave.

What is the truth about Angela Merkel? I don’t know.

She is certainly a suitable case for treatment. Er, I mean, investigation. Oh well: maybe investigation AND treatment.

I wonder too about her past. There seems a reluctance all round to investigate it.
She looks an authoritarian ,she sounds like one and she acts like one so maybe back in the days of the DDR she was not exactly a fighter for freedom and democracy. Who knows?

She left so that she could distance herself and polish her anti-DDR credentials and act as a Trojan horse.

Not going to check on this oaf-but wasn`t she a dodgy hanging chad fiddle much as Dubya was in the US elections of 2000?
In other words-weren`t we waiting for quite a time before she was named Chancellor, as if Schroder was just as much entitled?
If so-we`ve certainly paid a high price for having her hanging around…and maybe Ridley and Mrs T were correct to warn us of what would happen if Germany reunited.
Sense too that other Central European countries now hate Germany more that you`d expect due to the arrogant pretensions and Soviet smarmings of the East Germans until 1989…and so AGAIN, things turn to crap when you give the left any concessions at all.
Like Islam-and kindness is seen as weakness-so we need to think on this when it comes to the Left or Islam…a nexus of evil and weevils….

I’ve been laughing a lot at (with?) (over?) the Today programme this week. That is when I haven’t been crying.

The day of ‘The Report’ on womens’ remuneration was absolutely hilarious.

Crying? BBC News has become truly pathetic with none of the Producers and Editors clearly unable to see that fact. For example, the tragic earthquakes in Italy: what do we know, from the reporting on earthquakes around the world over decades, including by the BBC? We know that often people miraculously survive being trapped, sometimes for many, many days. Do the BBC know this? Apparently not. Time and time again we have the same trite and cliched reporting.

In the same way, the BBC deal with Marx as hero and, say, Farage as anti-hero clearly not bothering to find out from a historian or two what the ‘ordinary people’ did when they had a chance to vote with their feet in the case of the former and his imposed ideals in their countries.

    They left the Left.

    As fast as they could.

BBC news can only report in cliches. Hearing Mishal (or whoever) ask if the 10 year old girl would be the last to be pulled out of the rubble alive. How would the man on the ground know? Nearly as clever a question as asking an Olympian gold medallist ‘how do you feel, now that you have won?’. I just wish one would come back and say, ‘how the flip do think I feel’; but of course they are all chasing for the commentating roles once they have retired and never criticise the hand that may one day feed them.

It’s hard not to conclude that the BBC has finally given up pretending over the past year. It is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the far Left.

      GC,

And with no accountability, no threat to the charter and a guaranteed income. How can this happen in a democracy ?

      • GCooper says:

I have no idea, Grant. Maybe someone could find us a democracy, then we could experiment and find out? Not in Gt. Britain, of course. We are even less a democracy than we were 50 years ago.

          GC,

That was what I was implyng. This country is no longer a democracy.

G and G, I couldn’t agree with you more. I don’t ever remember, until the last 10 years or so, having to be so careful what one says when out of the house as telling the truth is now actionable in law. And if someone chooses to misinterpret what you say, they will be believed. How the hell has it come to this!!

I’m starting to think that it would be better to have the BBC funded directly by taxes. Then there would be some small democratic accountability via Parliament and MPs.

Perhaps also if the BBC was competing for tax funds it would think twice about supporting every bleeding heart liberal who comes n every morning demanding “Government funding”.

As it is the BBC is actually an uncontrollable “state within a state” … which we pay for.
